My husband had a lovely experience here last week with our daughter, however today 14/6/21 at about 10:30am we arrived to purchase some cakes, where were greeted by a woman who served us with such disdain for no reason whatsoever leaving us confused and feeling that other than just our appearance what could we have possibly done to offend her. The contrast of customer care given and greeted to a lady behind was so obviously different this reaffirmed that we where not welcome in this establishment! Our natural politeness and bewilderment, meant we continued with our purchase, but we will never return here again as we would prefer to take our hard earned money elsewhere where everyone will be treated with good customer care.

Fresh baked treats, such as cakes and tarts. Also have fresh loaves of a variety of bread. For anyone looking for a spot of lunch, they are able to do rolls and sandwiches with various fillings which are illustrated on the blackboard as you enter. Perfect for someone passing by or anyone on the lunch break from the local hospital

Just thought of post a review as I shopped here this morning and spent quite a lot. Everything single item my daughter and I purchased this morning was of excellent quality! I enjoyed my salmon and cream cheese bagels, they were outstanding! The crusty loaf has got to be the most crusty yet soft bread I've ever bought. I could go on about the Cornish pasties and the cakes but I've only got so many words to write. So basically go shop there and you definitely won't be disappointed. Oh and the lady serving was absolutely lovely too!

Visited here today and received acceptable service, however the food I purchased is another thing. Bought a hot cross bun and a granary roll and the hot cross bun tasted fine initially (albeit very sweet) but the texture was sticky, papery and messy. The granary roll and my goodness, was it salty! It ruined it. Pretty disappointing overall and I wish they stocked rye bread. Lidl do a better roll that isn't awfully salty - their low GI one. I'll be bake to baking my own, methinks.

Have been visiting this bakery for 30 years and have always enjoyed the fresh made sandwiches ... rolls and cakes ....however after visiting today we will not be returning ....the 'soft' bread roll was so hard and chewy .... the tomatoes...a cheaper product ....the cake was stale ....the best thing ....the cold drink ...not prepared by the bakery ...... the previous owners had a personal touch...... forced to give 1 star as there is a zero star option ......

Was walking past so I decided to pop in as the cakes looked great, but my god, they are expensive!! I bought 1 jam donut and it cost me £2.70. It tasted pretty average, so I wouldn’t get it again. The savoury menu looked reasonably priced, so I’m not sure why the cakes/sweet treats are extortionate.

I paid over £7 for 4 plain rolls and a zebra cake. The cake was horrible. It seems they use cheap ingredients like palm oil or shortening. Definitely not healthy and poor quality yet they price themselves as if they were best in the world. Really not worth it. They market themselves as traditional English bakery and if I was to form my opinion based on my experience I'd say english know nothing about cooking. Avoid!

The counter always looks half empty now. The quality of the food has gone down lots, even the pastries in the hot counter were looking a bit under baked. The staff are still not wearing hair nets, gloves or masks and they touch everything, money and food! The food I ordered was not great, its not how it used to be at all, which is such a shame.

Since the new owners took over we have seen a steep decline in quality and customer service. When the coffee machine is out of service it takes several weeks before it is recommissioned back to work. Also at times the pastry tends to be hard and stale which we never used to see before. The girls at the front are helpful as always

Went here today after 30 years of visiting...seeing new owners and the counter looked rather empty. Not what I remember when Celia and her husband owned it. I got a few sponge cakes...to get get home excitedly to try them...I was absolutely disappointed. The sponges were rock hard and dry.

Local bakery, making lovely freshly prepared pasty's, cakes, sandwiches. The only negative was the vegetable pasty I purchased was very hard to chew/bite and hardly had any filling in it, everything else purchased tasted delicious. Will visit again to try something different next time.

  • Zen Szewczyk

  • Bijal Pithia

£3.70 for a cream cheese bagel didn’t even have salmon in it!!!! Even the lady who served me questioned the price when she asked I assume was the owner who responded with ‘that is the price with or without salmon’!!!Very very over priced. Will think twice before going in again

The best barkers for miles around. Everything from cakes to rolls to bread made on the premises fresh everyday. I have been a regular customer for 20 years. I now live 200 miles away but when I go home to my mums I always find time to pop in for bread and cakes to take home

  • Sandra Gafney

Popped in today and bought several items. Usually enjoy the products from Mr Bunns but not today. The products were all very hard and unpleasant. Not sure what has been changed but will not be returning here, which is a shame. Why can't bakers bake anymore?

  • Lorraine Fletcher

Discovered this shop on my lockdown walk. Independent bakeries are few and far between so thrilled to have this one on our doorstep. Bought a tasty granary loaf. They also have a good range of cream cakes and other cakes and sell coffee to go.

  • Michele Mccloud

Omg , mr bunns has all the retro cakes , it was so nostalgic , reminded me of my childhood, best London cheesecake , Eccles , Belgian bun which is baked fresh on the premises. Best little independent family run business for miles …

  • Noise of the hood

This Bakery has extremely low hygiene standards all food is handled with bare hands no gloves when serving and the same hands are used to handle money. When I asked staff politely to use gloves I was laughed at and told we never wear

  • Shenaaz j

Old fashioned corner bakery with a decent selection of bread, pastries and cakes, etc at great prices. Worlds away from the supermarket mass produced eats. Support your local bakery and keep quality at affordable prices!

Try the sandwiches. They are so nice. I try to get in here at least once a week. Andy the baker makes all the cakes by hand and they are quite simply awesome. Makes greggs the bakers look just a little bit crap!!!

  • Thaleah

What a little gem, homebaked cakes and bread. I would say a little expensive, nothing is priced up so you have to keep asking for individual prices . I would recommend their Jewish bread and cheesecake.
