I spent three months living and doing research on favela communities in Brazil for my PhD, and this was by far my most enriching experience. Rita and Beth were incredible guides and it was clear that so much thought was put into making it a meaningful, safe, and memorable experience. Even if you don't speak Portuguese, this tour is a far better choice than the traditional, touristy "favela tour" and you will learn so much more from actual residents, not to mention your fee supports a much better cause. I truly cannot recommend this tour enough!! The guides and the museum itself have such a wealth of knowledge that can only be built by first-hand experience over a lifetime. Whether you are a tourist or researcher or local and whether you speak Portuguese or not, this is a must-see in Rio!

En fait, le lieu dit n'est pas un musée mais un genre de centre culturel. Ce qui est appelé musée est en fait hors les murs, un parcours où l'on découvre des œuvres de street art au sein même de la favela. Je n'ai pas pu le faire car il fallait réserver une visite guidée ce qui n'était pas indiqué, mais je mets 5 étoiles quand-même pour le lieu atypique et l'accueil chaleureux.

It was a very good tour, went into an actual favela and got an explanation of the history of the favela and socio-historical issues regarding it. Encountered some sketchy characters, however, not once did I feel unsafe. The tour is very professional and extremely well done, would highly recommend it.

Excelente la visita y recorrida. Excelente calidad humana de parte de las guías. Mil veces preferible a cualquier otra visita turistica "de rutina". Si quiere conocer la realidad carioca, orígenes e historia no puede perderse este paseo.

A wonderful experience, I recommend everyone to go. It's a walk trough the reality of a favela, with expert local staff who tells and explains what it means grow up and live there. Absolutely safe and very interesting, it's really worth.

On the top floor of the Praia Shopping Botafogo building ...there is on Bar with light meals available This is one of most pleasant Bars and reasonable prices When in Rio this Pub/Bar is worth a visit Ian ROSS A frequent Rio visitor .

Without notice the Museum was closed the day of my visit. Being a tourist from USA this was disappointing. Lack of basic directional signage made locating the museum entrance difficult. Very unprofessional.

Beautiful tour of the favela and the ask to go to the main office rather than walkong through the favela only. This way you will learn of all the work that has gone in to making this project a reality.
