I started my day with zest and zeal ready to comb the whole of Nairobi, as a nature lover, I chose to go for the Nairobi Safari Walk, seeing animals in their element gives me joy and make me have a grateful heart. Nairobi Safari Walk is under the Kenya Wildlife Services on Langata Road, there you have other safari and sightseeing to engage yourself in. I was greeted with the cultural dance from the Maasai people, they are nomads and warriors, I decided to give the dance a trial and I had huge fun doing it. Nairobi Safari Walk is the closest you can get to the wild, it has a raised wooden boardwalk that allows uninterrupted views of the animals, you get to mingle with monkeys and baboons need I say that on two occasions a baboon found me attractive and decided to come at me, I can’t forget this experience so they love fine girls or prolly because I had a little bag and they thought there was food in it. Here, you get to see vast land and trees, rustic natural décor which is pleasing to the eyes, they have wild animals; leopards, hyena, lion (which I got to see up close), Zebra, rhino, antelopes etc. The air is very crisp and pure, the safari is home to 150 species of local trees. I termed the walk as a long walk to freedom, you will enjoy Kenya’s flora and fauna with showcases Kenya’s vast natural diversity with a breath of fresh air. You get to see three ecosystem on this walk; savannah, forests and wetlands. The walk opens 8:30an to 15:30pm. The way the walk is designed you have places (enclosed and open) where you can sit and eat while watching animals in their habitats, you can also have picnics at different spots. The park is safe for children and babies (it has a children’s museum), you can enjoy the park as a loner, couple or in groups with your buddies or other tourist. This is a great spot for bird watching. There is so much to see and learn as you walk down the well maintained paths, you hardly notice how time flies, at the end of the walk you emerge into a “look out” viewing section with views straight onto a water hole in the park and at the tree top level of the walk, you can see the aerial view of the whole facility. I will recommend this spot over and over again. Don’t forget to follow @tourwithswagger and @gbogbo_swagger Live your life and travel!

I recently visited Nairobi Safari Walk, and I was very impressed. The walk is a conservation-cum-education facility that has been developed from the former Animal Orphanage. Eleven hectares of land have been set aside for the construction of this facility in order to give visitors a sample of Kenya's rich bio-diversity. The walk is divided into four zones, each of which represents a different ecosystem in Kenya. There are lions, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, and many other animals to see. The animals are well-cared for, and the enclosures are spacious and naturalistic. There are also a number of educational exhibits at Nairobi Safari Walk. These exhibits teach visitors about the importance of conservation and the challenges that African wildlife faces. There is also a visitors' center where you can learn more about the history of the walk and its mission. I highly recommend visiting Nairobi Safari Walk if you are interested in learning about African wildlife. It is a great place to spend a few hours, and you will learn a lot about the importance of conservation. Pros: Well-cared for animals Spacious and naturalistic enclosures Educational exhibits Visitors' center Cons: Can be crowded during peak season Entrance fee can be a bit pricey Overall: A great place to learn about African wildlife! Here are some additional details about Nairobi Safari Walk: The walk is located in Langata, about 7 kilometers from Nairobi. The walk is open daily from 8:30am to 5:30pm. Admission is KES 500 for adults and KES 250 for children. There is a gift shop on site where you can buy souvenirs and educational materials about African wildlife. I hope this helps!

**Loved:** The Nairobi Safari Walk offers a splendid glimpse into the East African savannah fauna. The dedication and passion of the zoo managers is evident, ensuring that the place remains engaging for all visitors. With easy access and a plethora of animals to observe, it's been meticulously designed to maximize viewing potential. It’s an enjoyable experience to share with friends or family, fostering intimate moments of gentle walks and conversations. **Liked:** The signage provides some insight into the animals, shedding light on their lifestyles and behaviors. However, the information felt rather minimal and somewhat outdated, seemingly catering more to a younger audience. **Did Not Like:** The walk itself was shorter than anticipated, leaving a tad bit of disappointment. The path lacked proper guidance, which might result in visitors missing out on some viewings. A particular bridge seemed less than sturdy, raising concerns. Furthermore, part of this bridge was cordoned off for construction, but there seemed to be little progress in its repair. Lastly, the state of the restrooms left much to be desired in terms of cleanliness. Overall, while there's room for improvement, the Nairobi Safari Walk offers a memorable experience to witness and appreciate the beauty of African wildlife.

The Nairobi Safari Walk is a serene location suitable if you simply wish to reconnect with nature, want a serene date or a family outing. The entire establishment is made out of wood and thatch. This feeds in perfectly to the natural ambience of the establishment. I made the mistake of going in the early evening. Don't. Most animals are preparing for bed so you either won't see them or you'll be prohibited from seeing them up close. Nonetheless, I got to see some buffaloes, hyenas (slinking into the distance), colobus monkeys, a rhino (poor thing kept pacing in a circle within its enclosure), a lion and a lioness having dinner behind a tightly sealed cage, a teenage giraffe in an enclosure etc It's a wonderful experience, yes. However, I couldn't help feeling discomfited at seeing some of the animals in a cage (the giraffe for one). The guides are friendly, the prices too, especially for locals (2 dollars for locals and 20 for non-residents). I strongly recommend this location primarily for its ambience. Note: There's an airport nearby so there's the occasional burst of aircraft engine which rudely punctures the stillness of nature.

Nairobi Safari Walk is located along Langata road 10.1 km from Nairobi CBD, a 15 minutes drive. It is located inside the KWS facility hosting Nairobi national park and the Animal orphanage. The safari walk is popular for it's esthetic uninterrupted view of the wild from the broad wooden canopy walk, wild animals such as Morgan the giraffe, gazelles, antelopes, dwarf hippo, crocodile, different monkey species, White Rhino, Buffalo, leopard and lions among others. There are different signage describing the different animals found there and there, their characteristics and history. Their washrooms are clean, equipped with serviettes and with plenty of water. Kenyan citizens adults pay ksh. 215 and children ksh. 125. Non residents pay USD 22 and children USD 13 If using public transport, you can board any matatu plying Langata road enroute to Langata, Rongai or Karen at Railways or Development house on Moi Avenue street.

Imagine traveling all the way to Nairobi to visit the Nairobi national Park to see the black rhinos.. But their incompetent staff not being able to process your payment at the gate and after an hour of trying decide to just not let you enter instead of taking your cash.. Yes this happened to me in September 2023. Never will I return to Kenya again. On top of everything they were so rude about it and still trying to scam me of cash at every other opportunity except where I didn't mind.. Which was when I was trying to get into the park. I had to send my safari driver home without pay. That day they affected his income as well. They didn't care. A few days before that I had a safari operator scam me too. Never had those problems on both trips to Tanzania and never had an issue in Uganda and south africa. Kenya was the true disappointment of Africa.

Nairobi Safari Walk is a fantastic experience for wildlife enthusiasts. It's a conservation area located at the Nairobi National Park, offering a unique opportunity to see various Kenyan wildlife up close. The elevated boardwalk allows you to observe animals like lions, giraffes, rhinos, and cheetahs in their semi-natural habitats. The educational aspect is commendable, providing insightful information about the animals and conservation efforts. Overall, it's a worthwhile attraction for both locals and tourists looking for a taste of safari adventure without leaving the city.

If you truly love nature like me this is for us. They take proper care of the animals, trees and their daily visitors. You could also try their local foods there too. Please use a tour guide there are so much to be learnt. The experience and exposure will last for a lifetime. Nairobi in general is a very good place for tourism. The people are too friendly, I doubt they are Africans. Lol. A little tip, the animals are mostly fed by 2.00pm Kenya time. You get to see most of the animals around that time. Try feeding the giraffes too, it's amazing.

The location of is on langata road right before you get to Galleria mall. The animals are confined in a semi natural habitat. The best part is the trail you have to follow, it is cool, very romantic and intimate. You can bring your close friend or family. The guides tend to show you around and bring the animals to visual for you. Most often than not they ask for a tip. They are not entitled to it it’s all up to you if you. This is a must go to when in Nairobi. It’s a very relaxing walk. Charges are 215 KES for citizens and 2750 KES for non residents, I did not get the price for residents. Enjoy!!

  • Svmajor Sil

The safari walk is a shell of it's former self. Nothing much for an adult to see, let alone children. I felt like having paid fee only to walk around and return to the point of entry/exit. And the way the 'helpers' at entry are enthusiastic to obtain payment! KWS better show the same enthusiasm with improvement in animals in there or close down the facility.

Quite nice open air zoo. You can walk around on the board walk and see a white rhino; a well-hidden leopard and many other animals. Most of them look quite well treated and housed (monkeys being the exception). A large part of the boardwalk is closed off and needs work. The grounds are clean. The front gate staff are absolutely delightful and helpful.

Always a fun visit, the Safari Walk allows you to enjoy a jungle-like trek, mostly on an elevated boardwalk, through one side of the Nairobi National Park. Most of the big five can be seen, as well as several species of birds, monkeys, antelopes, hyenas, etc. Do pick a guide to take you through. Many animals have select hiding spots in the brush, and the guide will be very useful in pointing them out. Please do not litter! And do watch out for thieving baboons.

  • Manuest Est

Perfect place to be. If you have never seen some wild animals then you can learn a lot from here. A great place to bring school going children, they get to see what they only see in books and TV’s. Polite staff, right from the main entrance to the mini entrances at the end and inside the park. Best time to go is morning hours just before the animals disappear deep into the park. Quite educative and I’d be glad to visit the place once more

  • Vasilis Dolias

It's called safari walk, but it's actually a zoo. Animals are restricted in a small area and I think they are just unlucky considering they could leave free in the national park just a few hundred meters nearby (see the monkeys). Apart from that, one thing that's nice is that you can pet the giraffe just by tipping the keeper.

A beautiful tour in Nairobi Safari Walk, in which there is a group of animals, most notably the lion, giraffe, leopard and rhinoceros, as well as some buffaloes, deer and hyenas. It is recommended to visit it. It is located near the gate of Nairobi National Park, there is no cafe or restaurant, the ticket price for residents is 200 shillings and 2000 shillings for non-residents, and there are tickets for children over 5 years old.

  • Stephen Waddell

Wasn't quite what I expected as only really a smattering of animals in a few enclosures but the baboons running around the place were cool so that kind of made up for things. Probably a bit expensive for what it is - 23USD for non residents - and a hassle to have to buy tickets through the ecitizen site at the gate

It’s a nice zoo in Nairobi. Especially nice when a giraffe came walking on our path and we were given food to feed it. Let me also add that a driver wanted us on the 3 hours safari-drive. He said (lied) that no bigger animals would be seen on the Walk. We saw giraffe, lions, leopard, rhino and other.

Safari walk is a really really good place to go and enjoy the walk. KWS has introduced payments via Ecitizen ONLY (as of November 2023, unless things have changed by the time you are reading this). That thing can drive you off, the inconvenience it brings about is terrible but I get why they are doing it. I am sure they were loosing a lot of resources via other payments. My kids really enjoyed it.

I had an incredible time I had taken a tour safari which was good and fantastic. The tour operator made all efforts to make the trip memorable always, was able to see a variety of animals, including a lion and cheetah I would recommend everyone to visit Kenya for wildlife tour

It's a beautiful place to visit especially on a Sunday afternoon. Generally nothing much to hype about the place, but still a good place to visit. You get to connect with nature because of the many trees, the flowing river and definitely the animals. Charges are ksh 200 for adults.. Some of the animals we saw are hippo, lions, zebra, girraffe, colobus monkey and others

  • Antony Vivek

A great place to enjoy the African animals. Looks out for Lions, wild Buffaloes, Hippos and many more birds around. Have never seen Kingfisher so much in one place... Naturally leading this life... Its a must to see place... But many of the rare and extint species are found in the orphanage, which we didn't go as we have to pay an additional 22 USD for the same.

  • Burnett Chasia

The staff are very welcoming. The place is very accessible by matatu, taxi and personal cars. There is plenty of parking space and two restaurants at the premises with very affordable meals. The walk is about 3kms with a variety of animals to see. It is advisable to visit in the afternoon though. Charges vary depending on if you are a citizen or a foreigner.

  • MayaMilcah Danice

Went around midday, enjoyed the walk but unfortunately didn't see the leopard or the lions. I however got to view a giraffe at its natural habitat. It was Amazing. The guards at the entrance have exceptional customer service and friendly. We enjoyed it!

A good spot to visit to a have a short experience of the wildlife in the larger Nairobi National Park. Great and serene atmosphere great for walks and maybe reflection. There are spots for that. The check in system is awesome and easy. Note: 1. Ensure to have money in your mpesa because they do not accept cash. 2. Keep the ticket they give until you leave.

It's a zoo with a little more space for animals than usual. Not much to see, monkeys and one lion were in cages (the lion was sick, poor thing), very lonely and sleepy. Price for non residents is insanely high (20 USD, or roughly 2200 KES), considering what you get. It's a good way to support the wildlife service though, I guess.

  • collins mbalo

Dissapointing ....no tour guides , fewer animals than other zoos in the world, the timber walk ways are dilapidated ! Back in the days we used to see more animals, there was plenty to see, the animal enclosures were well maintained and to finish we would watch a wildlife movie plus traditional dances ! This is just not it ! #Sad

A very enjoyable and relaxed walk. Much more fun when visiting with a good group of people. A few different varieties of animals to view. This is a nice way to see the animals up close as they are in enclosed environments. It seems that the animals are all orphans or injured so they are having a nice life here. It’s nice to walk around and see them. Also, the staff is quite nice.

Great experience. Make sure you take a guide because they know how to call the animals out of their hiding places. It's not a very big place and are not too many animals as compared to a zoo, but it's a fairly nice walk nevertheless.
