Hospital quality for patients is an important aspect of healthcare. It refers to the level of care and services provided by a hospital that directly impact patients' outcomes, experiences, and overall satisfaction. Several factors contribute to hospital quality for patients, including: 1. Patient Safety: Hospitals should prioritize patient safety by implementing measures to prevent medical errors, infections, and other adverse events. This includes following best practices for medication administration, surgical procedures, and infection control protocols. 2. Clinical Outcomes: The quality of clinical outcomes, such as mortality rates, readmission rates, and complication rates, is a crucial indicator of hospital quality. Lower mortality rates and better outcomes generally indicate higher quality care. 3. Patient Satisfaction: Hospitals should strive to provide a positive patient experience. This includes factors like effective communication, responsiveness to patient needs and preferences, cleanliness, comfort, and overall patient satisfaction surveys. 4. Staffing and Expertise: The qualifications and experience of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, are vital for delivering high-quality care. Sufficient staffing levels and appropriate skill sets contribute to patient safety and positive outcomes. 5. Technology and Infrastructure: Hospitals equipped with modern technology and infrastructure can enhance patient care, diagnosis, and treatment. Advanced medical equipment, electronic health records (EHRs), and efficient communication systems can improve the accuracy and efficiency of healthcare delivery. 6. Care Coordination: Effective care coordination between different healthcare providers, departments, and transitions of care (such as from hospital to home or rehabilitation centers) is essential. This ensures seamless continuity of care and reduces the risk of medical errors or gaps in treatment. 7. Accreditation and Certifications: Hospitals that have achieved accreditation from reputable organizations, such as The Joint Commission or other regional accrediting bodies, demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. Certifications in specific areas of expertise (e.g., stroke center certification) can also indicate specialized care quality. 8. Transparent Reporting: Hospitals that publicly report their quality metrics and outcomes demonstrate transparency and accountability. Publicly available data, such as Hospital Compare in the United States, can help patients make informed decisions about their healthcare providers. 9. Patient Education and Engagement: Hospitals that prioritize patient education and engagement empower patients to actively participate in their healthcare decisions. Providing understandable information, involving patients in care planning, and encouraging shared decision-making contribute to better patient outcomes. 10. Continual Quality Improvement: Hospitals committed to continuous quality improvement monitor outcomes, analyze data, and implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient care. Regular performance assessments and feedback mechanisms help identify areas for improvement and drive positive change. It's worth noting that different hospitals may excel in different areas, and patients' needs and preferences can vary. Thus, it's important for individuals to consider their specific healthcare requirements when assessing hospital quality and choose a facility that aligns with their needs. Additionally, local regulations and healthcare systems may influence the standards and measurement of hospital quality in different regions.
The saga of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) has been recounted by Dr Uragoda in his book. According to his account, the General Hospital (as it was then known) was established during Sir Henry Wards governorship (1855-1860), with 3000 pounds sterling being earmarked for the project. Until then, the government policy had been to contribute to natively-run charitable health organisations. However, after the establishment of the General Hospital, this policy was abandoned. Furthermore, the General Hospital also succeeded the Pettah Hospital, since its capacity to treat patients was very low. Accordingly, the General Hospital was opened in Longden Place in 1864, under the inaugural administration of Chief Civil Medical Officer Dr Parsley. In 1900, Longden Place was renamed as Kynsey Place, in commemoration of Sir W.R. Kynseys services. During this era, Mutwal was the residential area of Colombo. Thus, the hospital was chosen to be located in Cinnamon Gardens, as its suburban setting was deemed more appropriate for its functions. Dr Andreas Nell, who was incidentally born the same year as the hospital was founded, provides this account of the environs of the hospital's geographical setting. The General Hospital was not built in a very populous area. Coming from the north, there was a shady, narrow avenue behind the mansions, aTitchbourne Hall and The Gutharium. From the east, there was a similar avenue running from the Welikada Prison. Among the houses built there were also two undertakers business establishments. From the western direction, coming from Turret Road, there stood a small villa called The Mango Lodge, where the Eye Hospital stands now. This had been used as a rest house by the Dutch administrators during their many hunting expeditions. There were only five houses in the whole of Regent Street, which extended from The Mango Lodge. On the right-hand side of the hospital, a long road ran all the way to the Colombo cemetery. During the time the streets of Colombo were being named, this road was named Kynsey Road after the head of the Medical Department, Sir William Kynsey. The Colombo Medical School, inaugurated in the former half of 1870, was a monumental asset of the Hospital that brought the wealth of health to the Sri Lankan nation. It was founded by Sir Hercule Robinson, while Dr E.L. Koch was appointed as its first principal. The General Hospital in Colombo was the first hospital to employ women in the nursing staff. In 1878, for the purpose of initiating a college for nursing, a director as well as a nurse arrived in Ceylon from England. With the enrolment of a decent and well-educated young women, the College was opened in the General Hospital in October, 1878. The college was based on the methods propagated by Florence Nightingale in England. On August 6th, 1903, the laying of the foundation stone for the new hospital was carried out under the auspices of Lady Ridgeway. This hospital remains to date, and is still visible in all its splendour at one corner of the Colombo Town Hall/Eye Hospital junction. Influenced by Hindu architectural traditions, the buildings were designed by renowned architect and member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Edward Skinner. The first administrative building was established in 1904, and it still stands majestically today, known as the White House. The safes installed in this building were employed by the Colombo Hospital Board to store the moneys relevant to the administration of all the hospitals under the board in Colombo.
Dear Nurses at WARD 49, We would like to express our sincere gratitude for all the care and attention you gave to our son while he was undergoing Dengue Management Course at National Hospital of Sri Lanka. (Bed No 8) I am sure you understand how stressful it can be for parents in such a difficult situation. Parents who walk in for the first time with their sons or daughters with no hands on experience what might happen next. (Especially at a public hospital) Also knowing how deadly the virus could be… I have no wards to explain the situation I had when I walked in to your hospital on 28th Sunday 2014. I have experienced the hospitality at some of the leading private hospitals like Nawaloka/ Asiri/ Asha Central/ Durden’s etc. I am not going to exaggerate about your services comparing to the level of the private hospitals in Sri Lanka. Of course we cannot expect such level of services when you serve free for the mass public. But, you have some an extraordinary nurses who committed to this daunting and heavenly service. That is where you have the edge over the private hospitals. Without any doubt, I felt that your staff is doing a relentless, extraordinary job, we salute that efforts and hope you will keep it up for the years to come. Among the staff also we should give our special thanks to, 1. Nightingale (She is the fairest among nurses served at ward 49): Exceptionally experienced and talented. Walks swiftly on the floor to pay attention to the patients. Never talk much. Dedication is there for the work she does. 2. Ms Indika: Never feel exhausted. Work like a machine. Walks swiftly inside the ward and attend to each individual. Smiley lady with a little bend back. 3. Mr Beard: Stands tall. Little bit belly but I would say he is caring for all. Portray leadership qualities. Dare to take up hard jobs like giving external breathing support to dying patients. Sorry, I could not remember all their names. (Except for one above) I am giving my personal comments as they are the best, I have ever seen in a government institution. Specially, in a general public hospital. There were some characters I did not like and never want to share who they are. Please convey this message to them. We as growing nation would like to have people like them where ever the common people come for a need. The need that cannot be compared with any. Thank you once again for all the loving care you gave to him and for the entire patients. What a special persons they are! Sincere thanks, Numinda Thanthirige Father of Mandhil
My first experience with NEH was absolutely nice as my emergency surgery was done attentively by Dr.K.Banduthilake, under very special care due to my pregnancy. My right eye had a retinal detachment and was treated with silicon oil. My second experience is going through now, where I admitted to get the oil removed. Due to Covid situation the hospital requests PCR reports from patients undergoing the surgery, which is totally fair. But, the process of treating newly admitted patients is quite risky when considering the chance to catching covid while waiting for the PCR results to come. I had to wait from 7.30 am in the morning to around 2.30 pm in the afternoon on 9th wednesday, june, 2021 on a chair along with 30 other patients to get the pcr test done. There was a kind of staff-related problem going on which delayed the process. Then, everyone , both men and women were admitted to ward no.5, where there were only five of women. All had to use a common washroom, completely NOT WORKING and DOORLESS, so us women faced a real problem. None the less, the results got another day late. My surgery which is due today, if not the PCR is not yet sent, would be done on monday - where I have to stay 4 more days at NEH. Same fate is with all others. I really value the service of government hospitals, I had really good experience with all other times I got admitted. Even my second baby was born in Ratnapura National Hospital, which gave a really responsible service. My retinal detachment surgery was too done with great care at NEH. Yet, this process of PCR testing and sending the reports, keeping the patients in seperate wards under very bad conditions, delaying the results due to internal fights has a very high risk of getting us all covid positive. We were very safe back home. What is the whole point of carrying out a PCR and keeping the patient in a risky condition, even if prior comes negative, what if we got positive while staying here?
This on one of the worst and pathetic health systems in the world. The health system we encountered was really sad. It had a lot of problems and things that didn't work well. My mom needed to get an MRI scan, which is an important medical test. But we were told that the scan had to be delayed for a whole month because they didn't have enough ink. We felt very frustrated and disappointed...After waiting for a long time, we finally got instructions to go to the hospital at 8 AM on a certain day. We followed the instructions and arrived even earlier at 7:30 AM. But little did we know that this was just the beginning of a difficult and emotionally draining experience...We were taken to a room where we spent the whole day, waiting anxiously for my mom's turn for the scan. As time went by, I gathered up the courage to ask about the delay many times. Each time, they promised it would only be another hour and told us not to eat anything...The staff didn't show any understanding or kindness towards us. They didn't take our concerns seriously, which made us even more upset. The hours passed by and it started getting late, but there was no progress or communication from them...My mom, who is 61 years old, sat there patiently without eating anything since morning. She looked tired and weak because of it. It hurt me deeply to see her suffer like that... To be honest, I can't recommend this hospital to anyone who needs medical help. But people like us who don't have much money don't have other options or resources to go somewhere else for better care. Private hospitals are too expensive for us...This experience has left a lasting impact on me - it reminds me how broken and inadequate our healthcare system can be for people who are less fortunate. I really hope that one day no one will have to go through such difficult times when they need important medical services.
ZERO STAR RATING TO THE WORST HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. I want to share my concerns about the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL), which, despite being the primary government hospital, has some serious issues with its healthcare system. My experiences at NHSL have been quite disappointing, and I feel it's important to bring these matters to everyone's attention. The problems I faced include unprofessional behavior, rudeness, and a lack of empathy from the hospital staff. A significant challenge I observed is the exhaustion of patients due to what seems like a lack of attention and care from the hospital staff. It's disheartening to see patients, already vulnerable, feeling more tired and discouraged by the system meant to provide them with medical support. I also want to express my concern about reported racial bias by some staff members. A healthcare environment should be inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination. Such behavior goes against medical ethics and can severely impact the well-being of patients. One such example, the security woman in the Endocrine clinic (4th floor) lacks empathy and compassion towards the sick and needy. While I understand the challenges faced by healthcare professionals, it's crucial to maintain a high standard of professionalism to ensure patients receive the care they deserve. These reported issues reflect poorly not only on individual practitioners but on the healthcare system as a whole. It’s true I can’t expect professionalism from NHSL while the country itself is unprofessional and vile but still I felt the need to voice out my opinion.
The doctors and especially the nurses in the hospital are useless. These nurses are often engaged in social media outside the ward and often only one or two nurses stay in the ward and surf social media on smart phones. Even if a patient cries out that it is difficult, they are not looked after. They don't even check if the patients are breathing, and while giving the medicine, they pour water into the mouth of a patient and put a pill and leave without even looking to see if the medicine has been swallowed or swallowed. Patients or caregivers of patients are not told and concealed about the patient's condition. No advice is given. At least they did not say whether the patient was discharged and nurses says that they were discharged only if the patient's guardians forced them to ask. Hygiene of patients is not looked after. Nurses and doctors go about their lives happily letting patients die. The x-rays taken from the patients are not given to the caretakers and are kept with them even after discharge. They are not working for taking salaries from people's tax money. endangering the lives of poor people. I can call them Satan's children.
This is my third day at the hospital with my father. It change my perception about the services. Doctors are really busy and looking after patients and nurses are equally busy. Most of all the expenditure that bare by the government is no one even can imagine. Was at the W50 interact with couple of patients, some are months in some are weeks. Got to know my next bed patients expenditure per day, it’s more than SLR 50k and that guy is in for 20 days. Just imagine the cost of Medicin!!! I tell all these TAX payers!!!! Your money is not going waste if to get a feeler come and visit this hospital. And they do 10 cardiac (stent) operation per day approximately one cost you about SLR 800,000 so from today onwards I will not hesitate and hate paying my taxes to government. Down sides Not manage properly, need to train selected staff about hospitality. Could improve cleanliness with the support of visitors and patients. Suggestions Need to educate public to use the facility more carefully than destroying.
I would like to extend my heart felt appreciation for a successful heart surgery that my wife (kanthi liyanaarachchi -53 yrs) received at the general hospital cardiology unit She was admitted to the hospital for a minor surgery but unfortunately she had many complications while the surgery Myself and my family went through a hard couple of days because she was fighting between life and death The doctors in the cardiology unit was able to bring her back to survival I d particularly like to thank Dr Gotabhaya Ranasinghe , Dr Chandrike ponnamperuma , Dr Eranda the surgical team for their skills and competency in the operating theatre and Their post operative support Dr Varuni samaranayake and the ICCU / ICU crew including the nurses and minor staff Words could never express the gratitude for all what the team has done and I wish them all the very best!! May the triple gem bless you all!
I haven't really gone for treatment or consultation at the NHSL. I came here a couple of times to apply for ethical clearance. Most offices and people are some of the most inefficient I have ever come across. But, I really appreciate those working in the DDG office, they are extremely helpful, attentive and efficient. Most others just idle around and they have such a rude attitude and most of them do not even know what they are doing. Also the ERC does not have a proper website or contact details or even details about the personnel in the committee. Also almost everyone has gotten adjusted to remote working but that committee ... no. They are not meeting up because of curfew. I applied to another committee and they did everything online. I just hope things like these improve because it is such a waste of time and resources of people.
Largest hospital in sri Lanka, most services are free of charge as it is maintained by government, nearly they have all the facilities, usually too crowdy in OPD section In the in patients side they have well maintained merchant ward and paying wards for lesser charges than private hospitals around the country, try to grab those ward for peaceful stay, Most of their free wards are very unclean and worst, usually their lab and other services take much time and you have to have patience,if your are with infection disease or critical stage be vigilant, usually their specialized doctors won't stay there after 4pm, In my personal opinion this is not so good for neurological or co morbid medical emergencies which need much more attentions. (Except their accident service)
The accident and emergency section; anyone can go there 24×7. Known or unknown are taken and treated. Quick service. This is for accidents that has happened less than 2 weeks ago . They don't take care of any injuries that are more than 2 weeks old. First get registered and you will be traiged According to the severity of the injuries. All emergency investigations done then and there. Even CT scan for those needed. After the acute injuries are identified and treated you will be either discharged or admitted to relevant wards. The most efficient staff who work round the clock. Even private hospitals are far behind in investigations compared to this Accident service.
I am a government critic, but I will never criticize the staff of the NHSL in my life. I was literally in a life-threatening condition, according to my utmost experience. I would have never written this if there had been no efficient staff service provided to me at this very moment of my life. They were just amazing. It was festival time, plus they were so service conscious with less resources in the country situation, sincerely. I wish they had all the resources to serve more people better and will never get private treatments again. Thanks and kudos to every member of teams 48A Ward ❤️ and NHSL. I am in safe hands! POV: Not a political consent.
This is the main government hospital of Sri Lanka. This is equipped with many state of arts facilities. Well trained and qualified doctors are serving here in this Hospital. This hospital has almost all departments including newly built neurological department. One of the key features is this hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the Asia. Though this hospital is give all the treatments free of charge, this has paying wards too. It gives more comfortable for the patients who seek freedom. There are some people who don’t like to visit private hospitals also don’t like to stay at the normal wards. This paying wards are very helpful for them.
This is the best place for all the medical needs in srilanka. I earlier had a misconception that the government hospitals are not good for medical treatments. But i was totally wrong. My aunt was having a kidney issue and I took her to a well known private hospital but one day I took her to the NHSL and the treatments received from this is exceptional. I was really worried that I didn't take her to NHSL eaier. The doctors and the nursing staff is beyond friendly and they are well trained. The way they treat patients are exceptional. I always recommend the NHSL as the first option for medical treatments in srilanaka. Thank you NHSL.
This is the first and largest and busiest hospital in srilanka under ministry of health which served patients every part of country. This hospital has every medical facilities ,as always busy unfortunately srilankan patients who are receiving those facilities always unsatisfied because of this business. This phenomena is applied to every other health institution. It is not just a hospital ,it has academic relationship with colombo University medical facilities, school of pharmacy ,radiogaphy ,physiotherapy and nurses training school. Until recent it is the one and only "NATIONAL HOSPITAL OF SRILANKA "
This is the main hospital in Colombo. It serves quite well for the people who are not well off with money. Hence the business and condition of the place I think. It is not very neatly maintained like you'd see in a private hospital. But given that it is funded by the government and the number of patients who take the service of the hospital within a given day, I guess they are doing a decent job. Staff are not very friendly. Lot of red tape. Restricted visitors. Restricted time slots and things like that are there. Again it is understandable because of the sheer volume of patients it looks after.
My sister finished a spinal surgery in General Hospital Colombo. (We were advised that its better than private hospitals) The service quality, professionalism, care , etc by the nurses and doctors is one of the best I have observed. However the infrastructure, general public/people culture and environmental hygiene could yet be improved. Also observed few people trying to bribe the security officers. The security officers had great integrity/dignity and chased away those who tried to bribe them. Thanks for everyone's prayers and blessings too. Cheers to Sri Lankan positive people power.
I would say the best place to get it treated. Due to high amount of crowd you may feel that not treatd as you want. But for sure at right time the medical crew will attend at any circumstances. But the lower staffs like attendant from admission to ward are corrupted and often beg for money. That needs to be inspected and should bring to a conclusion. Some patient may call them for the support and they reach the patient after hours and hours where as doctors and some senior staff cannot scold them because their experience level at the hospital premises more than the Nurse or Docs.
Main, largest, busiest and most crowded hospital in sri lanka. This hospital provided free health care so I don't really complain about the service. Yes, i know this have many issues with staff behaviors and maintaince. it's not as clean as the private hospitals but given the sheer number of patients visiting, this hospital is the best to go to. Thats why i having huge respect about their treatments, surgeries n checkups specially in ICU's If fact, I've heard many stories where patients were referred to this hospital from private ones when the situation gets very serious.
My review is only related to the skin click, section B, which is conducted by dermatologist Dr. Chalukya Gunasekera. Not even worth to give a one star. It was the worst experience as a petient I had ever! So disgusting! The staff (all doctors and nurses ) acted as criminals! They treat the patients very rude and badly. For their mistakes, just scold to petients without any reason. The only thing they do is, making patients mentally disturbed. Very irresponsible people! These people are not qualified for government services at all! Very cheap behaviour!
Main hospital in Sri Lanka every thing is free but the doctors are not giving their full attention to patients but if you pay and chanel General Hospital doctors they are giving 100% of their service to you. I recommend you to don't go this place because they have given wrong medicine to my father & when we go ask they told it is a very simple thing. These doctors are studied from our money but after they became a doctor they only think about money. If you need to meet a doctor please don't go to this place go to private hospital.
Not even worth to give a one star. Facilities are worst. It’s just because of its free staff just don’t care about the patients, specially the attendants don’t know how to speak to the patients, which I have witnessed and experienced their behaviors, it happened in ward 73. They are not even allowing any caretaker to stay with the patient, when the patient ask for assistance the attendant staff using harsh words and treating very badly.. better to train them well about how to treat a patient and how to speak in a good manner..
i know that this hospital is free services bt i want to say that if they going to give free things then give it in proper way.this place is not human friendly place.the security is like monsters.bt some security members are good.should maintain better.the staff has no manners at all...please be more polite to people.they come to hospital for get treatments or see sickness. so understand their situation.if they improve this hospital then they can achive many targets.my review is from my point of view.
If you want comfort and luxury care with room service with polite staff and a beautiful environment, find another place,... but...... If you want the best treatment for your illness in the country, you can come here. If you value your life more than comfort theres no other place.... If you want to get pampered and have a good time go to the neighbouring asiri central, if you have a serious illness then god be with you.... looks are decieving ... and you cant get everything in life...
A living hell! Very poor treatment and service. Noone will be helping and noone cares.Very rude nurses and doctors cos the service is free? You will be just left to die. In their shared ward the family member of another gender cannot stay. Which is insane they should have separators or curtains. To admit a patient to a ward they will keep a very sick patient waiting for a whole day until that person is almost dead. I just wish something changes for better in this place.
The heart of medical treatment in Sri Lanka. It's the end point for many medical cases unless it's a specific problem such as regarding paediatric, gyn and Obs , mental health etc. It got the best doctors in the country and provides many facilities that are not available in other government hospitals. NHSL is a hospital complex with desperate sections for each diseases and medical problems. A new OPD section is under construction and will be completed soon.
The largest tertiary care hospital in the country. It has practically all major medical and surgical specialties. However, specialties such as Paediatrics, Gynecology / Obstetrics and Cardiology, Dentistry are located in adjoining dedicated hospitals. It is considered one of the biggest hospitals in the world, especially if the above specialties are also added. This hospital is free for the locals. A & E department, however, treats even tourists.
Went to get Covid 19 vaccination. I had to wait for half an hour due unavailability of nurses. There was no queue or traffic for vaccination. Registration and Vaccination have done in five minutes. Had to wait for another half an hour because the Nurse ask me to do so to check if there is any side effect. Staff was very friendly and cooperative. Infrastructure and cleanliness must be improved. All the treatment are done without charges.
This is the main national hospital of srilanka. The government funds the hospital. This hospital has various kinds of services and sections for every kind of illnesse from legs to head :) The hospital gives you free treatments and medicine but its very crowded and you have to stay in a waiting list for months as people all around the country takes treatments from here. Nurses and doctors are friendly and this is a clean hospital.
Ward no - 44 docters careless about petience... Rude and dont care about petience... My uncle admitted (meningitis) docters identify after the 4 days...not give better treatment... Apey badhu sallivolen dhamai meyala padi ganney.... Docter job heyka lankavey karanna berinam karunakarala private hospitals thiyanawa yanna Minnisungey pana munta gahnakvath nah... Hospital management metika ganangvath gan nah
Highly professional doctors in Sri Lanka, infrastructure need to be improved.. minor staff need to be thoroughly monitored.. entrances should be arranged for the convenience of visitors (minimum walking distances to avoid passing whole hospital minimising spread of communicable diseases - security to be arranged and advised accordingly) .. required vast improvement with properly spending public funds
The hospital staff consists of an enthusiastic and passionate group of people. In between, very few serve modestly. The junior staff (petty staff) are very low-scoring and polite. Low level people who have no respect for a patient in a difficult situation. Doctors do not educate their family members about residing patients.
Sri Lanka's First National Hospital situated in Colombo. It Was started in 1864 when British Empire's time. Srilanka have 2 National Hospitals but this is the major one. However it have kindful staff ready to treat Eny time. This time I mean Covid 19 situation time It more Priority to treat Covid 19 patients but OPD and other servicers are limited due to Covid 19 situation.
Best hospital for everything. It's overcrowded all the time and so staff gets frustrated. We all need to understand that. Because this is one of the most busiest places in Sri Lanka.their medical treatments are spot on. Doctors are so experienced they always know what to do. If you ever go here, you know you're safe. You don't get that feeling in a private hospital.
This hospital provided free health care so I don't really complain about the service. Yes, it's not as clean as the private hospitals but given the sheer number of patients visiting, this hospital is the best to go to. If fact, I've heard many stories where patients were referred to this hospital from private ones when the situation gets very serious.
I visited this remarkable hospital recently that offers efficient and friendly service, setting it apart from most government hospitals. The facility is well-organized and the staff is highly trained and helpful, which elevates the quality of the care. In particular, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the cardiology unit I visited.
Patients are suffering, due to IMMENSE CONFUSION between hospital staff. New training doctors need more supervision with senior doctors when handling patients. We all are soo grateful to get FREE MEDICAL TREATMENT but please people who come here are helpless, have extra care for them Heavily unorganised staff needs more TRAINING.
Sri Lankan government hospitals ,including this hospital is well known for the crucial service of the staff which is been paid from the tax we pay. They behave as they are not humans and they do not consider the pain patiens are suffering, including some doctors.i think first of all they need to be trained about humanity
Being a doctor is supposed to top tier. Even when we say the word doctor it comes with a sense of respect and gratitude. But some doctors at NHSL makes us lose all sense of respect. They are the rudest people ever. I am talking about some! They have no sense of empathy or humanity and are the biggest wasters of time.
Not even worth 1 star. Rude staff and docs (not all but most). They'll just waste your time without any reason and for a very simple thing which you can do in few mins they'll take a full day or even call next day. Everything here is messed up esp with the people working there who are so careless and their attitude.
Most of the facilities are broken. Might be the patients. Other working facilities are reserved by the staff for themselves. The meal patients get is good. But the best part of the meal (fish/egg) reserved by the attendants. Few fish/egg served to the patients who give money to the attendants. Terrible situation
The National Hospital of Sri Lanka is a government hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded in 1864 as the General Hospital, it is the leading hospital in Sri Lanka and is controlled by the central government. As of 2010 it had 3,246 beds. The hospital has 18 intensive care units and 21 operating theaters.
The nurses are acting like they are the owners of the hospital. Very rude behaviour and dont know how to talk to the patients. When my father was admitted to the hospital they acted very slowly like simply they dont care. Some doctors have massive ego. As a patient you shouldnt admit to this hospital.
Ward 44 is very inefficient..the staff and nurses are behaving irresponsibly..the helpless people are being terrorized..it is a black mark on the entire hospital system..the ticket of the patient who was discharged in the morning was written and finished at 6.30 pm..the helpless people are suffering.
A lot of people confide on this hospital for their health issues. Majority are low income to mid income people. Got to visit this place to value God's grace in our lives. Cleanliness is not optimal, but they do what they can. Went to meet a friend in ward 41. Nurses are helpful to some extend.
The National Hospital of Sri Lanka is a government hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded in 1864 as the General Hospital, it is the leading hospital in Sri Lanka and is controlled by the central government. The hospital has 18 intensive care units and 21 operating theaters and 3,404 beds
