I have nothing against police officers and RCMP, but NPF is the union and lobbyist for lower rank RCMP officers. NPF campaigned against Surrey, BC having a municipal police, which is the largest city in Canada not to have a municipal police. The NPF would obviously lose its shares of its union dues and bargaining power if Surrey were to complete transitioning to a municipal force from RCMP contract policing. Despite the province saying the municipal police transition from RCMP have reached point of no return, Mayor Brenda Locke backed by NPF is pushing Surrey revert back to RCMP contract policing. It’s estimated to cost $82 million just for severance to the already hired Surrey municipal officers and 17.5% municipal tax hike in 2023 to cover the cost of reverting back to RCMP. NPF only works for its interests of its union members and union dues. They do not care about the rest of the society.

I have nothing against police officers and RCMP, but NPF is the union and lobbyist for it's own RCMP officers. (As all unions do). NPF campaigned against Surrey, BC having a municipal police, which is the largest city in Canada not to have a municipal police. The Union fought hard to keep the jobs of several hundred of its members. Despite the province saying the municipal police transition from RCMP have reached point of no return, Mayor Brenda Locke backed by NPF is pushing Surrey revert back to RCMP contract policing after the public voted to keep the RCMP. The former mayor thought he could create a new police force with $75m, when the IT system alone would have cost $30m. That mayor was clearly a fool. NPF works for the interests of its union members.
