Hands down these computers are the worst computers I’ve ever used in a public library. The first one I used kept freezing and it was sooo slow that I had to eventually hop on another computer. By that, I lost one of my two one-hour daily sessions. Don’t let me start on this ridiculous rule, I don’t even know why Chicago Public Library limits you to two hours, people have work, homework, and things to do. Anyway, the second computer was a little better. But again, I wasn’t as productive as I hoped for when I walked into this building, because of the time I lost waiting for the computer to stop freezing and because of the switch that I had to make. Never coming back here again, unless I want to read or borrow something. It did seem like a quite library though, no kids or weirdos, which is why I’m not giving it a one star rating.
I am amazed that libraries are still around but I believe they still provide a valuable service to the community. This location is great and the staff is very friendly. They are always willing and able to help locate or find a book. Honestly who invented the numbering system! Ha! This location has a great area for the children including access to the internet. I've even seen students playing board games after school. The library provides a safe haven for many students who have no where to go until their parents are home. The parking lot is a little small. Do not come here on a Saturday expecting to find a spot because it will be tricky. This location has music, movies and books. So get your library card and start learning because sometime the old way of doing things is better than the new.
This Was Not!! The Experience I Was Expecting. First the clerk could not find me in the system, next there's was to individuals inside the branch that was leaning all over the counters about to fall on the floor. Anyone could plainly see that these individuals are drug users, next when i registered my time slot to use the computer; the computer move as if it was the tortoise & the hare in a race. The computer froze up for about 5 mins, then It took 10 mins just for me to get online, another 10 mins to get to the information I needed and a additional 10 mins to print and receive my copies. This should Not! be like this for library patrons. The City Of Chicago, Need to update an upgrade items in our library. We pay a lots of tax dollars Not! for to be going through this.
This library has become absolutely crippled (more than originally) since COVID. They have a total of 5 seats for anyone to sit in…5 seats for the entire library. They have a ridiculous amount of space but have no other seating set up. I’m sure there are some Chicago rules they have to follow but this library has become completely unusable for anything more than printing on their extremely slow computers. Go somewhere else if you want to work on something, study, do homework, or read (what a library is meant for).
Near North Library is a great place for resources but I haven't totally enjoyed my sue of the library. The limited number of computer log ins per day hindered projects I've gone there to work on. The security guard has approached me about something almost every time I visit and I feel like I'm might be getting targeted. The selection of videos is very limited.
I gave a copy of my book to the branch manager Sharon this pass November 2022 in addition, I am local author yet she has not respond no phone yet email . This no January 2023 and no respond. My first time attending this library and the staff appeared to come off as quite rude
Got everything I need. Love to pick up movies from here. Easy free parking and it has bike racks. Staff is helpful. Not many options for desks. Basically just several large tables around each other in a very large room. No private desks or quiet areas.
I take my children every week. They enjoy the huge range of children's books and building blocks but their favourite is story time. Lovely helpful staff. The security guard could do with cheering up, I suggest knock knock jokes!
The library is much brighter with better seating since they refurbished the entire place. My son and I love going there. The staff are always kind and helpful with their suggestions. I feel lucky that this is our local branch!
Woman at desk—don’t know name—cut up my card and told me it wasn’t valid any more! This after many years of membership Will return Monday to complain and get new card! Will absolutely refuse to talk to this woman !
Lybary was awspme tell they start shutting the place down for updates soon as i come in the building its gotta be maintained like a puppy dog lol other then that its an awsome libary and i love it
The staff is always so friendly and helpful, there is a decent selection of movies, books, music and audiobooks. Good WiFi and plenty of seats.
They are very helpful always welcome me with a smile .. It's quite and peaceful can study there and read with no distraction....
My first time visiting the neighborhood library it was very nice & clean. Also staff was very nice and very helpful.
Five out of five for the CPL, four out of five for this branch as it isn't the most comfortable place to hang out.
Gifted librarians and staff ready with a smile and helpful suggestion. Scott, Annie, and Diane - you’re the BEST!
