NOT BACK PACKER FRIENDLY! NOT a BnB! In fact anyone that calls it a BnB you should discount their review. Let’s start with Service, there is none. Even the person that walks throughout the house taking the garbage out will not acknowledge you when You have a question. You will get no service in your room, and if you have questions, forget about it. The house was 22C most of the time and the AC in the room did not work. In fact it had an error code and could not get the compressor to work with it causing blinking green lights that lit up the entire room throughout the entire night. Yes, that alone would cause me to write a review. I was not the only one sweating at night. As a neighboring room asked if our AC worked as his did not either and he was also uncomfortable at night. We had to open the windows to get fresh cool air into our room. Location, well if you have a car and you know where your going it is great. My wife and I backpack around the world. The closest place for food was 800M away and that was the supermarket. Restaurants were further. And being Vancouver in October the weather was neither warm nor rainless. So it makes for a miserable walk to get a meal. We ended up getting snacks and eating in when it was raining. This means any meal we were there. There are three main streets to catch public transportation, Knight, King Edward and Fraser. Some routes require even longer walks. It was a quiet street with plenty of street lights. Rooms: Our room did not have blackout shades so some light came in. The home looks newly remodeled as everything looks pretty good and the request of taking one’s shoes off when you come in most assuredly helps with the wear and tear. In our room we had problems finding plugs to recharge our phones. The one included with the side lamp did not work as I tried three different cables. Had to move furniture to get a plug charger to work. As previously mentioned, the AC did not work and the nice heavy blankets kept you very warm. With the high temp the heavy blankets were not necessary. The secondary blanket on the foot of the bed was folded under the mattress and actually raised it so us side sleepers are very uncomfortable. With the AC not working the status light blinked and there are 6 of them to help keep you awake all night. See video attached. For the price of over 200CD you may find better options. I know as back packers we will look elsewhere next time in Vancouver.

Rooms were nice. The double bed was with a soft mattress and I did not enjoy the foot of the bed lifted. They need to get the 6 LED’s to stop blinking 24X7 that will ruin your sleep. The kitchen was my favorite spot. Nice and big and well stocked once you got around to exploring it.

Loved our stay here. Our room, as well as the common guest areas, were elegantly appointed. The house is in a quiet, safe neighborhood where families and kids are roaming freely. Great restaurants are about a mile away. Nice walk weather permitting. Check-in/out are simple. But you do have to check email because they send that info prior to arrival. I was backcountry camping with no cell service and had a little trouble with check-in. We never met the proprietors but they seemed very nice during conversations via Ring doorbell and with texts. After a week of roughing it Neocolonial was a great place to decompress and relax. Parking is just regular residential street parking. But no problem parking close by. Would come here again.

Really hard to find a complaint about this place. My room was a little warm and stuffy but nothing that a provided fan and an open window couldn't solve. And the host was willing to go out and buy an air conditioner if I was uncomfortable. Great shared facilities. Unique decor with lots of modern conveniences. And quiet, friendly, safe location with close driving access to major routes.

Safe, quiet, comfortable little “bed and breakfast” - honestly the entire experience was a breeze. Incredibly clear directions for check in and check out. The rooms were impeccably clean and the attention to detail did not go unnoticed! Would absolutely stay here again.
