They said delivery would be 55mins which is excessive as we are only half a mile away and our order was very simple (chips, sausage, fishcake). Our order didnt arrive in this time so we called and was told it was on its way. This was another lie as 20mins after this and 1.5hrs after placing the order we were still waiting for our food! When it finally arrived our order was stale and couldnt be eaten. When I called to ask for a replacement I was told no, was shouted a sworn at n told it was because they were busy. I tried to explain I was a regular customer but they kept shouting over me told me not to use them again and slammed the phone down!! I am a disabled person and wholeheartedly was being very polite, their whole service has left me very upset and disgusted with them. They have their wish and have lost my custom. Think twice before using New Oscott Fish Bar, id hate to hear they treated anyone else as they did me. Wish I could rate 0 stars

Ordered from them for two years every week and then in the last few months we had problem after problem, chips were tasteless, white, hard and cold, and we kept giving them chance after chance (mostly because the delivery driver Preston was so nice!) but the food didn't get any better, and then this week they decided that they weren't going to deliver to us, the first reason they gave is that it was because we'd ordered gluten free food (which we normally do anyway!) and then when we called to complain they said they weren't delivering food because they had been too busy despite us ordering at the normal time. Given up on them now and will be going to Boldmere chip shop where hopefully the chips, service, and attitude will be a LOT better

After being a regular customer for over a year, tonight we have been shocked at the service provided. We ordered the food online and was told it would take an hour like usual. After an hour of waiting, the food had not yet been delivered, due to this, I rang up and told them we wasn't happy but was told by the staff that the delivery will be here within the next minute. A few minutes later, the food arrived, we paid for it and began to eat. Unfortunately, the chips were freezing cold along with the fish and pie; after ringing back up to complain and to order a replacement, I was made out to be a liar and was also told that the next time we ordered from that chip shop, we would not be delivered to.

Ordered mixed kebab & chips (donner & chicken meat) - £5, salad was not included in the price. Had to wait 10 mins for this to be prepared. Was a Sunday at 8pm, not particularly busy. Once in the car I noticed the food had a very peculiar smell not at all appetising, quite off putting in all honesty. Once I got home I was shocked to see the donner kebab didn’t look cooked, very pale check the picture with this review. Tasted very chewy, chicken kebab was dry and chips were hard not cooked throughly. Considering I had to wait not sure why the food was at this standard. Threw the majority away. Only added on an extra star because the boy serving was very polite and friendly. Will not return here.

Disappointed before I left the shop. I was waiting for meat to cook on the skewer, the girl serving me had my tray in her hands, and whilst conflabbing with her work mates, she was playing with it! With out realising I suppose, and turning it inside out and holding it on the the inside where my food would go. After she had given me change and watching her rub her head, touch her trainer and rub tray up and down her apron, I had to ask for another tray. The girl apologised but this wasn't on. I just want the food without any hassle as I found it embarrassing complaining when I shouldn't have to. Does this happen often??? I'm sure basic training should cover this. By the way, food tasted nice .

DO NOT GO HERE! Not only is it really expensive (£4 for mini fish and chips WITH curry sauce) but they're absolute robbing ***** asked me and my mom if we wanted curry sauce on top or in a carton. We said oh ok we'll have it in a carton to share. Then the girl charged us an extra pound because we didn't have it on top of our food, even though she'd given us the choice! When we questioned her she said yeah we charge if you have it in a carton! Why give us the choice then? It's the principal of the situation that I'm angry about not the extra £1. Food was average at best. Wonder how many other people have been conned by them.

Ordered food for six of us at five minutes to five teatime..online said delivery within the hour. So waited till 6.10pm no food..phoned fisbar they said at ten past six driver was just leaving the shop to deliver to us.waitedtill halfpast six.phoned them again..still excuses they tried to say we had only rang seven mins ago but it had been another twenty mins.waited again till twenty to seven.and cancelled with driver.by this time half my family that had ordered at five had left my house and my kids were starving. Very very disappointed. Why lie...if yr gonna b two hours why dont you say that. Wont be back.

Went to this chip shop for the first time as I pass it on my way home. Ordered 2 mini fish and chips 2 battered sausages and 2curry sauces. The lady said that £17.50 I asked is that correct and she said yes. So I thought this must be good food. When I got home me and my wife both started to eat the food and looked at each other and both said this is rubbish Fish was more batter than fish the sausage was rock hard and the curry sauce was awful. I don’t mind paying high prices if the food is good. But this place really needs to have a look at what you sell Sorry will not be returning

Staff were rude to old gentleman when he asked for a pie of his choice. The Chap looked so embarrassed, I actually smiled to put him at ease. I should of walked out then but I ordered fish and chips. The food was totally awful chips were white and the fish was just batter. After watching the old gentleman merely ask for a pie I thought I wouldn’t bother to give them any feed back. My family and friends won’t be using again that’s for sure. I couldn’t give no stars but if it was available one would of.

Usually a 5* chippy, and I’m not going to let one bad occasion spoil their general quality. I usually order in person, but today had to order via Deliveroo. My order included Cod + Chips which was perfect and the fried chicken was delicious as always. But their sausage which I ordered for my kid, was not really suitable for consumption. So this review is based on the staff allowing such food quality to slip by.

Had a long piece of hair in my cod. Went very politely and discreetly to speak to the owner next evening to report and he was rude and arrogant. Trying to tell me I should have gone back to his shop on a Sunday night at half 8 to show him the hair. No ownership of bad hygiene. Didn't even batter an eyelid when I said I shall report to the council for poor food hygiene. Not recommended at all.

Looks great from outside and well presented inside. Food is tasty and well presented and any request is easily undertaken. Only thing that stops 5 stars would be the price of some of the items is a tad high but still worth visiting and trying. Only other thing would be some of the younger female staff appear to dress like they are going on a night out or working for selfridges.

Gluten free fish and chips are great, the delivery driver is lovely, only thing I can fault is the excessive wait for the food to be delivered- can be a couple of hours lately. When I first started ordering from here they were quite prompt, not sure what has changed. I have called up when there was a glitch with the website and the customer service was fine.

This fish and chip shop can I say, rules on so many gorgeous levels. Saveloy dunked in curry sauce pleases every cell in my body. I'm loving the lethargic feel after a huge bag of sexy looking tasty chips. Eat them slowly to really enjoy the full potato power of potassium and manganese. Please don't get me started on the fish.... Ooooohh Yeeaaaahhhhhhh

been a customer here for 20+years.. it has declined over the last 7years. alwyas provide excellent pizzas but the chips are like ghandis flip flops... neither have i had a loyalty or thank you off them for over the years which is why i do not come here anymore. was a fantastiv chippy its has now become a typical erdington chippy.. shame really.

We've been using New Oscott Fish Bar for over 10yrs - ever since they started serving Gluten Free fish 'n' chips on Mondays. Lovely fish, friendly and cheerful staff, quick service and fair prices. What more do we need? Jake's Gluten Free Pizza's are delicious too - shame they sometimes sell out before I get there on a Monday!

Placed an order for 9 of us for an evening meal birthday celebration. I asked for a specific day and time all to be delivered. I could not of asked for anything better. All presented perfect, very hot, fresh and delicious. Also delivered right on time. Thank you new oscott fish bar for making my evening just perfect.

Went here yesterday for the first time in 12 years, and it's still the best fish bar I've ever been to. The chips are absolutely gorgeous, and the chicken and mushroom pie I had with it was awesome. Will be going back for a kebab soon as I'm sure they are still as nice now as they were when I lived in Sutton.

Just had a chicken meat and chips. As we like this chippy. Opened box to find a tiny screw on the chicken meat. Could of been very dangerous. Called up to be told its of the knife and we are sorry. Will give free meat and chips next time. Please check food if eating from here …

Gluten-free battered mushrooms and chips, eating it as I type, it's all gorgeous, staff were very friendly and prompt, and completely in line with hygiene regulations considering covid-19. I am very impressed and will definitely return.

Bought large fish and mini fish. Got home and the large fish looks like the mini fish. Looks I was given a mini fish instead of a large. Very poor especially at the price.

An impressive menu including gluten free choice on Mondays. I've never had a problem with the food here., until today (25/10/21) *I will never have the spring roll again! Scallops 50p and portion of chips £2.

The best chicken kebab in ages, so tasty. Even though it was the end of the night and ready to close the food was top notch. As a bonus the lady who served me was lovely, cheeky tattoo and super smile.

Sunday my son went to New Oscott Chip Shop for food bought chps for me and mini fish and chips for himself. Chips were dry and inedible. Must have been left over from lunch. Will not go again!

Great pizza and a wide range of other stuff including 5 different fish to choose from. The owner of the shop is friendly and has some long opening hours from lunch time till around midnight.

Good friendly staff who remember customers and their orders. High quality food in their own genre. Can be a little busy at rush hour, but ample skilled staff cope well. Recommeded.

If your after good portions, i wouldn’t use this place. Apparently a large bag of chips consist of 2 handfuls. very disappointing considering the over priced food. Real shame.
