Over all, I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed by the experience. The wild game was alright, but everything else was super lack lustered. Maybe French cuisine isn't for me. I was expecting to be blown away, especially at the price point of $45-$60/a main. We also tried the escargot, which was just "okay" it wasn't bad, it wasn't good it was just "meh". Flavour seemed just lacked the rich and savory flavour you would expect to get from a good escargot...It is such a staple of French cuisine, it was pretty shocking to get such a lifeless rendition of escargot. For mains I had a special which featured 3 types of game meat. The meat it's self was good, but everything else on the plate was just boring. It was all something I could have cook better myself... just a standard side of steamed veggies with nothing added to it. What a shame, to have such quality meat followed such a basic and boring side. We also tried the wild boar ribs, the meat seemed to be flavourless like it hadn't been marinated, but had a sauce added for flavour. A portion of the rack seemed to be bad or had a odd flavour. And again everything else on the plate was underwhelming. Just veggies with nothing elevating them. They also came with scallop potatoes, but again, underwhelming, at least it added some flavour to the sides, but again something I could have made myself better... I can't justify eating food that is about on par with home cooking at an expensive restaurant, I wanted something MORE!Unless you are really really into wild game, I can't justify coming back here, unfortunately. They either need to step up their dishes (especially the sides!!!), or drop the price point way down. The portions weren't really that big either, the rib portion were okay, and the game I guess I can justify seeings as there were 3 different types of game meat, but still... for a $58 dish... I am not sure I got the value I was looking for or the quality I would expect at the price I paid. The services was okay. Seemed friendly. However, we mentioned to him that the escargot was underwhelming and not great, and he sort of just shrugged it off and moved on. He also, didn't address the fact that the wild boar was barely half eaten. You would expect a "Did you not enjoy the meal" or "Was there something wrong with the food". Nope. Just took it and left and that was it. I wasn't expecting any sort of comp or anything like that, but, read the table. You can obviously see there was an issue. I don't wanna harp too much here, because like I said, this place isn't "bad", it was just underwhelming and had some issues, which maybe could be overlooked had it not been priced at such a prestigious level. The atmosphere was pretty decent, but you need to drop the covid walls... It is totally killing the feel of the restaurant. It is unfortunate that you were forced to invest in them, but put them in storage.

Very very very run down and dated. Not at all what was expected from online pics. Original tables and chairs that seemed not to be new in 1989. Very crowded small space, made a servers station from a table in centre of restaurant with saniter sprays next to water jugs and wiping clothes. Not at all handicapped accessible, steps everywhere, but old building. When reservation was made I was asked the occasion and told dessert was on them. The portions were fine, the game meat cooked well if not inventively, though significantly overcooked. The server didn't know what anything was he served. We were never asked the occasion when we were seated, owner/manager asked how everything was when we had a bread basket. The dessert and coffee was exceptional. The fig pudding and chocolate raspberry torte excellent. Definitely one of the best restaurant coffee I ever had. Don't offer to comp something and don't do it, follow through is everything. It seemed full of regulars, good for them, but as a first timer no idea how they got such a high google rating. Overall, decent if uninspired offerings, with poor service, uncomfortable venue and terrible ambience.

I honestly wouldn't have known about this place if it wasn't for the internet. It's a smaller, cozy restaurant, nice atmosphere and ambience. The owner was our server, and you can tell he's had years of experience, he's fantastic at his job. He kept our drinks topped up, continually asked how our food was, and managed to hold about five different conversations with various tables with ease. The food was excellent. Both the portions and quality were top notch. My girlfriend had the fish dish, I had wild boar ribs. For a starter, we shared mussels and shrimp. The sauces are out of control. There's strong French influences, with heavy cream, fine herbs, wine and shallots. The fish had a creamy dill, and my boar ribs had a saskatoon based BBQ sauce. The sides had perfectly cooked veggies (squash, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower and carrots), I had scalloped potatoes while she had mixed wild rice. Both meals were nicely balanced, cooked well, and tasty. The portions were large enough that I can't write about dessert...there wasn't any room. I always tip 25% when service is exceptional. In this case, there wasn't any thought on my part. Not only were we taken care of, he offered to take our picture, proceeded to print it out without telling us and gifted it to us as a memento. How cool is that? You absolutely can't go wrong if you eat at Normand's. We'll be coming back!

My boyfriend and I went with another couple for a nice dinner last Friday, and wanted to try somewhere new. Norman's was somewhere we had always heard about but never tried, so we decided to give it a go. We had reservations for 1930h and were promptly seated. Our server was absolutely fantastic and his knowledge of the extensive menus was quite vast. We had our drinks dropped off at the table, along with some complimentary bread. Things were off to a great start. And then the food came. My boyfriend ordered the filet and lobster tail, and his meal was decent - but hardly worth the price tag for cold side steamed vegetables and half cooked scalloped potatoes. Our friends ordered the bison steak, which tasted like it had sat in its own blood for too long. And the Mornay - which had ZERO flavour. I had ordered the New York - it was the least tender steak I have had in my life. We spoke to some other patrons outside and they all had the specials and said the food was amazing. This was disapointing for us to hear as you think a restaurant that has been a staple for so long would have some solid classics that hold the menu up. And the most frustrating thing was we wanted to support somewhere local and have a great meal, but at over $60 per plate per person, I feel scammed. So in hindsight, if you do decide to go despite it being over priced and needs a whole new menu revamp - get the special, enjoy the drinks and fill up on the bread !
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Normands and I can confidently say that it was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. My wife and I were there to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday and we were blown away by the exceptional table service and the quality of the food. From start to finish, the entire meal was an absolute delight. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal to the fullest. The ambiance was cozy and intimate, making for a perfect setting to celebrate such a special occasion. Now, let's talk about the food. Wow! The food at Normands Restaurant was truly top-tier. Every dish we ordered was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Each bite was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. We could tell that the chef takes great pride in their work, as each dish was a work of art. Overall, I cannot recommend Normands Restaurant enough. If you're looking for a truly exceptional dining experience in Edmonton, this is the place to go. From the incredible table service to the unbeatable food, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for making my mother-in-law's birthday celebration so memorable!

We came here on the last day of our Alberta trip. My boyfriend really wanted to try exotic game meat, so I thought I would give Normand's a try. It was Saturday September 18th and it was exceptionally busy. Nonetheless, the service was impeccable. We had a waiter named Glenn, who was attentive and funny. I was very impressed with the service and the food. They had provided complimentary bread, but the butter was infused with cranberry. oh my goodness, so good. I have never had butter like that before but I was impressed. We also ordered the 10oz Bison steak and my hubby got the Wild Boar Bacon, Elk and kangaroo as it was the special for the night. We were blown away! not even gamey tasting at all. It was super flavourful, and the space that went on it paired well with the meats. I couldn't believe that it tasted almost similar to steak just leaner and lighter. definitely one of the best meals, we've had in awhile. My hubby has never been the type of person to post food on social media, but you bet he did with his dinner at Normands! What a great way to spend our last day in Alberta. I would definitely recommend to all my friends and family in Ontario, who may be travelling to Alberta in the future! The first picture is the bison, the other picture is the kangaroo, wild boar bacon and elk.
Last night my husband and I had a beautiful birthday dinner at one of YEG's most beautiful long standing restaurants. French cuisine, wild game, and seafood are their specialties. We've had the pleasure to try their breakfast/brunch when they have been available, but never their dinner service. Drinks included a glass of White Zinfandel ($11, brand Beringer) and the Jamaican Party ($13, 2oz) off their martini list. Appetizer included a half ounce order of prized white truffle oil, and their aged balsamic with house-made bread. Soup choices were their Wild Mushroom Cream ($8 cup) and their Baked Thyme Onion ($11 bowl). Dinner included their: Wild Game Featured Dish (Seared Wild Boar Bacon, Elk, and Bison; served with mixed veggies, and scalloped potatoes); and Lobster, Scallops, and Jumbo Shrimps Mornay ($49). For dessert we both ordered a hot chocolate ($4.25), the Terrine of Sorbets ($11), and the Coupe Normand ($12, came free with birthday dinner). At the end we had our picture taken by our server to keep as our own. Peter our server was amazing through the whole dinner service, and the bartender and chef were amazing as well. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Normands has been a favorite with my husband for years. I finally had the privilege of enjoying an amazing dinner here for our 30th wedding anniversary weekend and it did not fail. The service is impeccable with wait staff that are professional and knowledgeable and Norman himself orchestrates the entire evening every night to ensure everything sent out is perfect. I tried Norman's house made pate and I would definitely recommend it even for those that don't normally care for traditional pate. Norman's pate is silky smooth and oh so buttery! The larger quantity of butter in the pate cuts the bitter liver flavour that is normally associated with traditional chicken liver pate and the addition of their house made citrus jam brings the pate to a whole new level. I also ordered the cranberry glazed duck which was absolutely incredible! Crispy skinned and succulent meat combined with the acidic sweetness of the cranberry glaze was incredible. Coming separately in its own copper pot added to the indulgence I felt when eating it. Portions can be large so ask your waiter before ordering full sizes, I miss judged and could barely finish my meal , it became a painful experience but I enjoyed every bite.
Decided to try this place for our anniversary and it was a let down. The place is extremely dated and old with super uncomfortable chairs. The service was okay, but nothing special. I would call it semi attentive. There were large gaps in between table visits and I had to wait quite a while to get another beer. For appies we had a mushroom crustini which was very tasty. She had a butternut squash soup that she enjoyed. My French onion soup left a lot to be desired. The broth was almost clear and didn’t have that richness I was expecting. For the mains, I had the wild boar ribs and my wife had a seafood dish. My ribs were cold or room temperature at best. The side was about 6 slices of scalloped potatoes with some vegetables. The veggies were pretty much raw. Disappointing for a $50 plate. My wife enjoyed her seafood but again, the sides were raw and inedible. The owner bought us dessert on the house for our anniversary which was a nice gesture. We went with the the sticky date pudding and it was really good. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience considering the cost.

We were rescued tonight by Normand's! We had a reservation at another restaurant that fell through and I called Normand's and was able to book a table right away. The staff here is impeccably friendly and professional, and the atmosphere is so romantic and unique. The food is amazing. I didn't expect the portions to be so generous for the price! I had the bison carpacio (easily large enough to share) and my parents had the escargot. Both were incredible, and the carpacio in particular paired very well with our wine. For an entree I had the wild game feature dish which included elk and boar. YUM! And for dessert I had the bananas flambee which was phenomenal. This was our first time here and it will certainly not be our last! There were so many delicious sounding entrees that I am eager to try. If you are planning a nice dinner you should visit Normand's!

I haven't been to Normand's for over 15 years. I pass by it almost weekly. Back in the day, Edmonton has a handful of higher end dining establishments of which thus Jasper Avenue haunt was one of them. The last decade especially has seen a boom in Edmonton in dining establishments that offer contemporary and fusion cuisine from all over the globe. As such, it's becoming harder to find top end restaurants that do meat, potatoes and veggies the old fashioned way...simply but with some extravagance. I was told Normand's has been serving edmontonians for over 30 years. They must be doing something right in a very hard food industry to still be standing the test of time. The location is the same as is most of the decor. You know you're visiting an old friend when you step through the front doors. You can feel the vibe...history and tradition. The food is exactly as I described....extravagant and timeless. The service was so engagingly wonderful. I gave it five stars because Normand's knows what they do, they stick to their lane and they do it very well.

Such a great little restaurant in Edmonton. Fine dining at its best. Great menu. The seasonal wild game special is fabulous. Mouth wateringly delicious. I love the Saskatoon berry sauce.... So good. Reservations should be made in advance as it is a popular location. The pricing is a little steeper than your average restaurant but the food is so worth it. I've lost track of how many times I've been there over the years but the atmosphere and and food have always been excellent. Do yourself a favor and check out this little hidin gem

Not sure how this place earned such a high rating. The escargot was watery, so I doubt fresh and had a weird flavour. I made a comment to the waiter and he didn't seem phased. I ordered the pork ribs, which were also watery and outside of the barbeque sauce lacked any flavour. I would suggest ,as there was only one cook in the kitchen pushing food out (the place was half full) I doubt much that there was any fresh 'to order' prepping going on. Even the veggies lacked seasoning (salt). The food was way over priced for what was plated. For that price I would expect presentation, since flavour was as challenging as it was that night. I would recommend the going to the Keg over this place as you will get far better value for you money, as my wallet would argue, along with my palate, it does balance out here. Save your money... I think they owe me a star, as I would not give one by choice. Im sorry I was very unhappy.

All the good reviews are spot on. Normand's is the epitome of class when it comes to serving great food and memorable experiences. Not only did we leave with a photo souvenir that night (taken and gifted to us by Normand), but with full bellies and happy taste buds. This is the perfect restaurant for high quality food for a reasonable price. We had the escargot stuffed mushrooms, fish special, seafood pasta, and the roasted duck. Everyone agreed the dishes were as tasty as they sounded. Accompanied with a bottle of white wine, banana flambé, and dessert wine to finish the night off. Looking forward to testing out more food and drinks in the future. Side note: the coconut butter provided to us with the bread starter was to DIE for. Normand kindly gave me a small sample to take home with me.

We went here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary, and had a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we entered, and the restaurant itself had an elegant but cozy vibe. Our waiter was very informative and gave helpful suggestions for both food and drinks, and the service was excellent. We both ordered the special, one with wild game and one with seafood, which were both described perfectly and exceeded our expectations. Wild game is not something we'd typically eat, but it was cooked perfectly and very enjoyable. I am quite picky with my seafood as I'm from the coast and have high expectations, and this meal was absolutely delicious! They even made it a point to serve us a special dessert to help us celebrate. This was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had at a restaurant, and it made the night extra special. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Normands to anyone, and will definitely be back.
Booked my bday dinner here on a Tuesday night. The restaurant seemed quite busy but we got greeted and seated promptly. The only hiccup was that they sat us at a tiny table right by staircase close to restrooms… a bit offensive for a birthday dinner that was booked 2 weeks ahead of time. I should have requested a window seat or something back then but assumed that giving a nice table was a common courtesy for special occasions bookings made ahead of time. We did ask if we could be moved and they did so within 20 mins or so to a slightly better table facing the kitchen. We decided we won’t let this stop us from having a good time and therefore enjoyed very much the rest of our dinner time. The food was excellent! My duck was absolutely phenomenal! Service was prompt and very friendly. They complemented my dessert which was very sweet. Overall rather good experience! We’ll be back!

I have had dinner and lunch here on multiple occasions with my girlfriend; being a cook and a fan of classic french cuisine I'm always impressed. The atmosphere at Normand's has me feeling relaxed. It isn't plain and sleek like a lot of modern restaurants but this is where I see it's charm. As for the service, it has always been great. I have been seated by the owner multiple times, & the other wait staff are pleasant; always happy to share any information about the food. Who knew there was such a nice place right here in Edmonton? Note: I can't see how people can leave mediocre reviews about the menu size. For a restaurant to have such a large menu and still provide quality is incredibly impressive to me. A big menu is okay as long as it is something doable by the kitchen staff. Considering my friend had kangaroo and thought it some of the best meat he's ever had, I am definitely impressed.
Celebrated my in-law's birthday at Normand's and it was excellent from the beginning to the end. Although the interior of the restaurant was a bit too old and my husband and I were a little worried about the quality of the restaurant at first for that reason, the food and service were above and beyond. The server who took our reservation ensured that we would get a nice table, and actually took care of our table on the day of our reservation. He was professional and had a great sense of humour! We couldn't stop laughing every time he checked on our table or came to serve our food. The dishes we ordered were well-balanced and flavourful. The birthday dessert was on the house and served with a candle and a Happy Birthday message. The server also took a picture of us with their phone and printed it on the spot. Thanks to Normand's for the unforgettable service and special memories!
Better than expected, however the room is dated. Was expecting less from this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by most dishes. The game and meats are definitely where it’s at with the pate being a disappointment and the French onion soup was a watered down mess. As mentioned our group had the pate (meh) the French onion soup (horrible), the rack of lamb (yum), the duck (yum and huge portion) a steak (yum) and the special of special which was boar/double bacon/elk which was good. Service was spectacular even with three very large groups in the restaurant that night. Definitely get the sticky date pudding for desert though. Was a brilliant finish

Normand's. The food was fantastic. We came with some picky eaters. Based on MY recommendations. It did not disappoint. The value for the experience was outstanding. I & everyone at our table will happily return again & again. Also the service, being able to call and book a reservation hours before the resturaunt opens for the day was a very nice, personable experience. Thank you Normand. Went here for Valentine's Day. We had reservations so we were seated promptly by Normand himself, who was warm and professional. The interior is what you would call old school upscale. At one point I'm sure it was well received but it is starting to look quite dated. Our server was quiet and awkward although you could tell she was trying. Drinks were strong and tasted good. However, there was a total of SEVEN drink menus! Three for wine, one for martinis, two for scotch, and one for Absolut. There was three menus for food, totalling TEN menus all together! Mildly excessive. The food was prepared well and reasonably seasoned. The prices are what you would expect from an "old-school fancy" restaurant. All in all we had a nice meal, albeit expensive.
This place continually delivers perfection in a dining experience. We have been 3 times now. We used to always go to the Harvest Room at the Fairmont. Couldn't get in one night and tried Normand's. What a stroke of luck. Everything about this place is genuine and exceptional. The food, atmosphere, and service. The owner is hands on and a joy to be around. Very welcoming and appreciative of your business. Diverse menu that offers game meat. We have had kangaroo, elk, bison and wild boar. All items are good value for your dollar and perfectly executed. At the end of the evening, Wife's birthday, they took a picture of us with dessert and proceeded to hand us a picture of our special night. Thoughtful touch. Highly recommend.
This restaurant was amazing! We just happened to find it, while we were trying to find a different restaurant, and we couldn’t have been more pleased. The customer service was great the menu was pleasantly surprising and the atmosphere was lovely. The cost of food was in line with a place that has this type of cuisine. My hubby ordered the pheasant and I ordered the gaming special which was bison, venison with a crocodile skewer we shared our plates and everything tasted great. We started out with the pate, which was our least favorite of everything but still tasty, we also had a bottle of wine and payed I believe around $200 so it’s not cheap but it is worth it for an occasional setting.
We went to try Bison steak - which is very nice but it’s not too different from beer, a little more tender my friend said. The accompanied veggie was nice cooked with butter. We had smoked salmon as appetiser and the portion was great as they offered bread too. Then the clam chowder soup was also satisfying and the raspberry torte is nice too. Lots of wine choices, and asking the professional waiter for recommendations turned out to be the right thing to do. Cozy and warm old-fashioned bar restaurant fee. Recommended!

Everything was awesome…our server, the food, and even a visit from Normand himself:) You get a real sense of pride from all the staff and it is clear that the chefs take their work very seriously. Three of us couldn’t have been happier with the total Normand’s experience. This is now my go-to spot for great food and atmosphere. Great menu and a chance to try something that we don’t normally have access to like elk and boar, and several other domestic meat options for those who do not want to try something new. We sincerely appreciate the passion and quality that Normand’s delivers. Just Fantastic! Try to save room for dessert;)…trust me.
Always exceeds expectations, every single time I bring my wife here. Wild Game Menu '23 was amazing. I've always picked the special Game menu and have never been disappointed. Wife and I have been coming here since 2014. Service is great, food is absolutely one of a kind. I honestly can't say enough great things about Normand's. Plus, you get to meet the owner himself! Always a treat. Our #1 Restaurant.

By far my favorite restaurant in Edmonton. Normand is like family to our community in this city. The food is fantastic, every dish I've tried I loved. The service is on another level. They make us feel spoiled. It's honestly like nothing I've experienced anywhere else and it's consistently like that, every time. The place has been around for so long it feels like its a historic piece of our city, it's very comfortable and has a very classy atmosphere. Places like this are rare, especially around here. Its underrated even at 5 out of 5 stars because the service is just on another level.
We celebrated a friend's 30th birthday and our whole party was blown away with the evening we had at Normand's. Tricky to say what we loved better: the food or the service. Normand and Curtis are incredible hosts and their kitchen creates delicious, creative meals. It's really special to be seated at a table when you're in the hands of complete professionals like these two gents. All five of our appetizers and mains were off-the-charts good. Our only regret of the evening is that we didn't visit Normand's earlier in life. Thanks for an incredible experience!
In a word, excellent. I ordered their special of the night which was 3 different cuts of meat with potatoes and vegetables, my SO ordered their stuffed chicken. Both came out perfect, the meat steaks I had were cooked right and everything tasted excellent. We also asked the waiter for some wine pairing suggestions and he was on point on the wine as well. The atmosphere is intimate, with a little of a cozy decor all around. It's a smaller restaurant so suggest reservations ahead of time as the restaurant did fill up even on a random Wednesday night.
We had a very nice dinner at Normand's. The speciality dishes were very tasty. Wild board with Saskatchewan blueberries sauce and Fish with shrimps Including the bread with a very nice spread and fresh green salad with cherry tomatoes and red sweet peppers. We had Californian and French rose wine to accompany our food. As dessert we had a delicious sorbet with champagne. And finally two decaf lattes. The ratio quality / price is just right. Normand is a very nice funny host. We really recommend this restaurant for special occasions. Two Thumbs up!
We had such an excellent dining experience at Normand’s. We booked the place for a family gathering. Right from the door, the owner amicably greeted our big party, so we felt welcomed and appreciated. Our waiter, Michael, was knowledgeable and helpful with our food choices and beverages; as a bonus, he was charming and fun. We would love to revisit Normand’s Restaurant and confidently recommend it to our friends. In conclusion, everything was so exquisitely tasty!:)

This truly was an amazing experience for me and my family. Great setup, local owner, and real ownership of the operation on behalf of Normand. The food we ordered came out hot, and plentiful, the Mediterranian Salad i ordered was amazing, as well as the chicken pasta, my brother had the 16oz Bison Rib Eye, and it was top notch. But above all, the atmosphere was cozy and family oriented. Great place.

From start to finish our dinner was wonderful. Staff was warm and cheerful. Normand was on the floor taking orders and chatting with customers. The wild boar ribs made us groan and we soaked up the sauce with bread to get more of it. The wild mushroom soup was delicious. The onion soup impressed the boyfriend who hates onion soup. I had rack of lamb and loved it. It melted in my mouth. Boyfriend had the elk/bison/kangaroo. Very good, the kangaroo was unlike anything we've had before. I also found a new favorite chardonnay.
The food is ALWAYS top-notch ! The service is amazing... probably very easily the best place to eat in edmonton You WILL NOT leave disappointed!

Excellent local wild game menu including venison elk, bison, prepared with exquisite sauces a beautiful menu of fish and seafood , poultry, water fowl, great selection of fine wines, delicious desserts, reasonable prices. But to me what crowns this hidden secret gem of Edmonton’s finest cuisine, is the outstanding hospitality from Norman himself and his staff. I have been enjoying this most pleasant experience for the past 6 years, and was never disappointed. I’ll never get tire of it.
Went with my family to celebrate our parents 60th birthday. Had an absolutely wonderful time! Server was very good, took a picture of us at the table and printed it out for us right there! Food and portion sizes were excellent. An incredible place and will be going back to try more of their menu!

First time here and what an experience. Appetizers are amazing , I highly recommend the foei gras and mussels I probably ate one whole order to myself at a table of . Their seafood pasta was top notch unlike a lot of restaurants gst give you baby seafood , this plate had jumbo size!We were the last party and never felt that they were in a rush to kick us out. Normand even came and introduced himself. Thank you for a lovely evening ! Mypiglife Rating : 1/2
Absolutely amazing food, fantastic staff, and incredible service, as always. My husband and I celebrate milestones with a trip to Normand's; we've been a several times now. Their game dishes are our favourite in all of Edmonton, hands down. We recently ordered take out for a date night over the holidays. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. They even included a little bread basket & mints - a nice little touch from Normand and his staff!
I was impressed by the quality of the service especially to find out that Normand himself serving my table!!! He was absolutely amazing, the timing of serving the food and the way they care about every small detail to make you comfortable and happy. Regarding food, it was delicious and something new I tried. Their menu has a lot of good options and I highly recommend their seafood selection. I would definitely come back and great job! I would recommend this location
Normands is exactly what you would expect - old school, quaint and with a menu that literally hasn’t changed in 34 years! Finally went! Loved the atmosphere, service was excellent, food was what I would expect from a menu that hasn’t changed in 34 years! Everything was nostalgic and tasty (aside from the mussels - the sauce was funky - not to my taste) and the date was delightful! I don’t know if I would go back super soon, but I definitely enjoyed my experience !
Going to Normand's was my first time eating in a restaurant since the start of the pandemic. Eating there was like remembering what good food tastes like. I was there as part of a large group and not a single person was anything other than pleased. Everything brought to our table was excellent with very filling portion sizes. Presentation, atmosphere, and service was all top notch. You can't help but feel the 'fine' in fine dining. Will definitely be going back.
This is seriously THE best restaurant I’ve been to all around. The food, the cozy atmosphere and by far the best service. The menu has something for everyone and has many different selections. We now have a favourite date night restaurant. You have to try this gem!

On of my favorite restaurants I've visited in Edmonton so far. The menu features items of wild game, which they prepare to perfection. This plate was a four meat special which included bison, boar, elk, and wild boar bacon. It's definitely on the pricier side of things but well worth it. I wouldn't think much of it based on outside appearance, but this is made up inside and with the food of course. I'll be revisiting as soon as I go back to Edmonton.
Great experience. Mussels and Pate were amazing. Had the lamb and it was great as well. I would come here just for the appetizers.. Greats service. Their bread was amazing... Although the butter was just a little cold and didn't want to to spread well. I got the lamb for myself. It was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The scalloped potatoes were delicious. Overall, it is a great establishment . Recommend to anybody that wants to try wild game.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Normand and planning a dinner with all my friends for our graduation. I’m glad to be able to say that it was the best restaurant experience any of us have had. Food was spectacular and the service was amazing. The fact that they were able to accommodate 28 of us with split bills is a feat in itself. I will be coming back and I urge anyone to come here as well. Thank you to Normand and his staff for hosting us!
Normand is always exceptional! He definitely knows how to treat all of his customers. We've had many dinners there and my wife and I just celebrated our 26th anniversary there on July 15th. From start to finish it was nothing less than AMAZING!! The food was perfection. The chef hit every part of the dish spot on! It's always a pleasure to see Normand and hear his jokes! See you soon Normand and this time we'll bring the kids as well!
Great place to enjoy a plentiful, delicious meal. Ambiance is enjoyable; quiet, peaceful. Waiters are professional and knowledgeable. Have enjoyed both times we've been there (just ourselves and then with another couple) and would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful meal at Normand's. I brought my daughter here to celebrate a special event and it didn't disappoint. A local fixture for over 30 years now and it's easy to see why. The food was excellent. Everything from the starter, to the mains, to the dessert was expertly prepared and delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. They provided us a great understanding of the menu options and made helpful suggestions.
Four of us went for to Normand's for dinner last night. It was the first time that any of us had been there. We were all very impressed with the whole experience. The food was exceptional, the ambience of the dining room was perfect and we had the pleasure of Normand himself being our waiter. It will now become our favorite place to go for special occasions. Thank you, Normand and staff for a wonderful evening.
MUSHROOM SOUP, you must try their awesome MUSHROOM SOUP! The last 2 times I've gone I've had it as a starter, next time I'm not going to mess around and just have it as an entrée and a main (mind you I love soups and that's my all time fave). But everything I've tried in the menu is amazing. The staff is great recommending depending on what you like

If I could give this place Michelin star reviews I would! This place is the #1 place to be in Edmonton! Between the amazing Customer service, the superb food and the personal touches the owner himself made towards making our anniversary special; I am beyond touched! I will definitely be back to Normand's the next Time I am in Edmonton! And I would highly recommend this Place without question!
Just celebrated 65th birthday with dinner at Normand's. Everything was exceptional, from service, to food to atmosphere. It's been way too long since we were able to enjoy a long time favorite! Thank you to Norman, our host, and Peter, our very pleasant, able and solicitous server! A lovely experience all around. All best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. Maggie.
It never ceases to amaze me how special this place is. Normand accommodated a special event for our family and personally took care of us. The food was excellent as always. There's a reason this restaurant is still thriving, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to share with family and friends.

We have eaten at Normand's many times but with the pandemic we've not visited for months. We wanted a special dinner for new year's eve and so we ordered from Normand's. Wonderful dinner. There was so much food we had enough for the next day. And of course Normand spoke to me personally when I called to order. He made recommendations and we were thrilled with the meal. Thank you!
This is my top 5 restaurants of Edmonton The specials are always to die for, the great Normand himself will serve you with first class service, and it's a delightful atmosphere for a date or a night out with friends. Don't miss this spot. It has its own parking downtown, that's just a bonus.

We went to this restaurant after having an amazing sample at Taste of Edmonton. Every bite of our dishes was absolutely delicious, and perfect portions - not too small and not overwhelming either. Very cozy atmosphere and lighting, and the staff was so very pleasant and helpful. So polite and kind. We will absolutely be going back here! Thank you for a beautiful experience!!
Valentines day was a little disappointing this year. waiter seemed to be in a very big hurry, my steak was very poor quality, no bernard callebaut chocolates or no special complimentary desert for celebrating our special anniversary. charging extra $ to share a menu salad is tacky. been coming for over 30 years, may not be back

It’s a great no-fuss yet exquisite place. Normand will treat you as guests in his own house, with delicious food and great selection of wines. They might need to add a few cocktails, though it’s not a deal breaker for me. Looking for an evening like in an Woody Allen movie? That’s the place!

The owner is fantastic, super nice man and the food is simple but yet complex. The basic protein, vegy and starch meal combo but with nice flavors that makes the food quality shine. The Lamb was great and I had it Medium which I would recommend for those who usually get well-done, the lamb since it's a such a quality meat the Medium is perfect.
Exceptional atmosphere and the staff are equally as high caliber. To say that the food is amazing would honestly be a disservice as it is by far one of thr finest meals I have ever had the privilege of experiencing.

Visited on a whim for my birthday dinner and I will absolutely be back again! Amazingly varied menu, excellent service, classy venue and some of the best wild game I've ever eaten. The elk, bison and boar were all phenomenal, and the staff went out of their way to ensure I had a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!
Simply put amazing! Never been before but for sure will be back now. The wild game selection is impressive and cooked to perfection. Service was great very attentive but not overly so and even the owner stopped by to introduce himself and welcome us! Very classy. A+ will definitely be recommending to friends and family

I brought my parents for a mother's day dinner. Everything was fantastic. From the wild boar ribs as an appetizer to the filet mignon with a lobster tail. And the cobbler was off the chart! The service was perfect. I haven't been since the early 90's but I definitely will be back soon after this amazing dinner.

We have been dining with Normand for 34 years. Recently he hosted grandpa’s 90th. He personally looked after 16 of us all night. Service and food were excellent. So rare to have such great personalized customer service. One of the best restaurants in Edmonton – a hidden gem – try them.
Great gem in West downtown. Norman the owner is always greeting and entertaining customers, and all the server's are amazing. The prices are not cheap, but you also get what you pay for. The portions are huge, and they always have a great selection for dessert. Definitely recommend!

To start, the staff at Normands was great. Who i would assume to be Normand was there making rounds, checking that everything was good at each table and that patrons were happy which was sweet. Usually it would annoy us greatly, but Normand
The food and service here are both amazing. We've tried several things on the menu and nothing has ever disappointed. Normand himself is wonderful, he spends time taking to patrons, making sure everything is up to par. He pays attention to
I started with frog legs. Never had them before. They were good. I had the wild game special- Elk, wild boar and wild boar bacon. All really good but the bacon was awesome. My friend had seafood pasta. Lots of shrimp and scallops. Portion
