Can’t deny met some beautiful spirit of people there, but apparently might have problem with leaderships. If only practices are not so chaotic: I visited the church because I saw weekly bible study. While I visited it’s actually on school break; when it comes back, to realize it’s on zoom but not in person gathering. Teaching in English branch is ok, but I would expect more verse by verse that backs up with biblical quotes. Otherwise it’s easy to fall into opinions. I really didn’t expect 40% of unbiblical worldly knowledge than another probably 50% for the Biblical verses. That missing 10% is the long public prayers which is against biblical teachings. (Matthew 6:6-8, Mark 12:40, Matt 14:23…) I don’t feel gain so much in the biblical teachings. Most important topic to talk about is to be saved. However, people are still in confusion if it's by baptism we are saved, or by grace. In sum, English department generally ok, just lacking of evangelism activities. Participated in Chinese department today (since I speak it). I understand the leader probably has good intention to do God’s work, but very disappointed that unclean, uncomfortable, and deceiving spirit in small group happened so often. Do we not know that false teaching and practices would weaken faiths? It might not be a big deal that some were using their phones and not engaging in the discussion while someone is delivering a sincere statement even in a small group, but the real unrighteousness disclosed until someone suggested that we don’t need logic and discernment to seek God. I became the only person disagreed with it and then had to dispute with it endlessly. Teaching that we don’t need logic and discernment to believe in Jesus is a dangerous teaching. Jesus warned us false teachings and false prophets in the Scripture clearly. Mormons also believe in Jesus but that would be a different “Jesus” they believe. When you imply that we don’t need logic to seek God you are implying God found you. That results in pride. Christians should have fruit of Spirit and honesty, but not sin towards each other so constantly otherwise not deserve to be called “Christian”. They should truly get involve with more in depth Bible study. There was zero biblical study in the meet up group this time. I appreciate the food, but Jesus said ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' (Matthew 4:4) Do not deceive just because you are not familiar with certain knowledge. It’s not a sin to be unknown, but it’s a sin to deceive. Otherwise you are not true Christians. I heard about there are parenting course. That is certainly interesting. Just as foretold in the Bible when church go with patterns of the world. We need true biblical teachings but nothing else. There’s a reason why Scripture did not suggest much parenting, because we are sinners and God regretted creating man (Gen 6:6) Unless we focus to understand the Scripture and practice it so that we can be saved. “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.” Gal 1:6-12 Full-time paid ministries is unbiblical practices. Truth is not business services. Even Jesus worked as a carpenter so that he could understand trials and tribulations. My observations today were clearly foretold in James 3:1, 1 Cor 12:29… While I can understand churches may need funds to function, but if I was an unbeliever it would surely weaken my faith to have donation bags passing to me on Sunday. Scriptures said ONLY those who have been united as member of the church by personal faith in Jesus Christ should give to the people of God and the work of God. Also God desires people to give wholeheartedly, passing donation bags would be by force, and looks needy. Every command or exhortation to give is addressed to believers. Taking funds from unbelievers is prohibited. (3 John 7; see also 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.)
