The Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Ottawa, Ontario, near Byward market. It is one of the most peaceful places I have ever visited. The ambiance and interior is curated very selectively and with a lot of detail on everything. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1990. The basilica is the oldest and largest church in Ottawa and the seat of the city's Roman Catholic archbishop. Its twin spires and gilded Madonna are easily identifiable from nearby Parliament Hill and the surrounding area. The church was last renovated and restored in the late 1990s. Services are held in both French and English. Its Easter and Christmas masses are telecast nationally on Salt+Light Television every year.

Visiting Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa was an awe-inspiring experience. Located in the city's heart, this architectural gem is more than just a church; it's a historical landmark. The interior is breathtaking with its vivid stained glass windows, each telling a story in gorgeous colors. The altar, framed by an ornate golden canopy, feels both grand and intimate. Built in the 1840s, the cathedral is one of Ottawa's oldest and largest churches and has been designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. Whether you're religious or not, the beauty and historical significance of this place are undeniable. If you're in Ottawa, don't miss the chance to visit; it's like stepping into a piece of the city's soul

This is a beautiful church but extremely difficult if you are in a wheelchair or had a walker. I was there to support a friend through a joyous event, only to find out I couldn't attend the reception in the basement due to being in a wheelchair. I was gutted to say the least. I realized that I now have to check out ahead of time to see if a church is even accessible.

A very peaceful and amazing cathedral. The details from the ceiling to the stained glass are immaculate. I especially like the two clock towers on the exterior. There is paid parking in the back of the back which makes it very convenient to access. Anybody can come in for free to visit regardless of religion unless if there is a service in progress. A must see place in Ottawa.

Beautiful church inside. You can sit and admire the vaulted ceilings and paintings on the roof. Take cash if you plan on lighting a candle, $5 per candle. Attended Christmas Eve service which was a lovely service and very traditional. There is a cafe and tour and you can tap with your credit card for a donation at the door.

Such a beautiful feeling inside this church! You can feel a warm presence - genuinely! I am not a Christian, I just visited to see the church as I was visiting Ottawa & it’s a world famous church but I could feel the good energy, the good vibe inside this church!! It’s beautiful!! You must not miss it!!
A little disappointed as the Basilica looks grand from afar yet inside though the stained glass windows are works of art, the church felt a little smaller so expectations were belied

The main cathedral in Ottawa, it was built as a parish church in the first half of the 19th century. The interior is majestic and the design of the altar is absolutely intricate.

Be sure to check out the Basilica's new _Café des Tours_ in the basement, accessible from the doors of the Northern wall (left as you walk in), and down the stairs. Great, reasonably priced coffees, pastries, cake selection and cool coffeehouse vibes! More
As you enter the nave, the arches frame the long chamber and propel the eye toward the altar. Slim stone columns on either side separate the aisles and form arches that support the domed ceiling overhead. Terraced galleries look out onto
I was completely taken aback by the breathtaking interior of this basilica! From the outside, I didn't expect much, but once I was inside, I was shocked by the mesmerizing beauty. The vibrant colors and detailed decorations are simply
Absolutely stunning church. The architecture outside is classical and the beauty inside is stunning, and a must see. Donations are their approach, and it's definitely worth a contribution. ✌️
Beautiful early 19th century gothic church. Clean, peaceful and well maintained. Wish there were enough brochures in English to educate about its history. Must-visit when in Ottawa. Free entry. More
