Been walking this park since I was kid. My grandmother used to take me here as a respite from city life. Offering gorgeous views of the pond at every turn, the tree-lined path also provides ample shade, making the trek bearable even on the steamiest summer days. Look out for the swans on the southwest corner, who've built a veritable palace of a nest amongst the reeds. Love this place. When I'm in town, I walk the path every morning I am able.
drove by on our way to a different destination. as we did we thought we should come by some time. I am very happy we finally did! there is parking along the road and there always seems to be available space. it's a small lake with frogs, turtles and a wide variety of birds. it was about a 15 minute walk around the pond with shade and open areas with benches along the way. perfect for a walk or a light jog!!
Oakland Lake is one of my favorite places to be. The small and beautiful lake is surrounded with many benches. Beautiful trees and some flowers. The abundance of birds in this place is a bird lovers dream. You can hear the many blue jays from all around. There is a beautiful swan family that lives there. The baby swan was born in early spring of 2020 and is now really big and beautiful.
Busy but quiet. Paved path around the lake. It’s actually part of the Alley Pond Park. Except for some benches and fences, it’s mostly kept natural. Minimal interference with what happens naturally. People don’t feed the geese and swan like other places. You can fish (fresh water fishing license required, $25/year) but need to release the fish back to the lake. No bathroom.
Top notch spot for walking. Lake is beautiful, with lily pads, turtles, a family of swans, and willows weeping along the edges. Path is flat and well maintained. Good tree cover on most of the path , so not too hot in the sun. Benches sprinkled in to take a rest. If I lived closer I'd probably walk here every day as the sun sets.
Great local area to take in some nature. Good for walks or just plain sightseeing. Would definitely recommend coming here in the summer/fall. There's a baseball field across the street and an entrance to a nature path right by the cross island south as well.

Good place to take your dog for a walk
Great local lake for walking our dog. There is a paved trail that circles the lake and there is always something beautiful to see -- swans, ducks, turtles, etc. There are staircases you can take toward the far end of the lake back up to the road (our dog loves to run up and down them!)
What a gem of a place. Experienced it while it was raining. Went in from the side road, there is a tiny trail with a short incline. The lake is alive with, ducks, geese and swans. Went around the lake twice at a slow pace, stayed about an hour, looking forward to come back. More
My husband and I enjoy early morning walks around the lake. Lots of shade on the warm summer mornings. Love that there are no bikes allowed . Some runners but mostly walkers. Incredible vistas with lots of nature’s creatures. Wish I could post some of my photos.
A very pretty local park with a small lake. People come to walk or 'fish and release'. The lake attracts turtles, swans, geese and ducks. There is a .6 mile trail around the lake which we walk twice to get a little exercise in while taking in the tranquil oasis.
It's no Central Park, but this is the perfect place for a casual stroll in the neighborhood. You meet ppl you know here, and the trees, lake, and water foul are a nice escape away from the city. Wonder what happened to the swans though; the whole family's mia..
Nice pond to walk around in. Wouldn't really consider it a lake. There are a few spots on the trail around that could use some better maintenance (ie. Brush that needs to be cleared away to allow for better drainage so huge puddles don't form when it rains).
The park consists of a lake with a .6 mile path looping around it. The lake contains very still water and appears to be somewhat polluted. But there are swans and geese in the lake and the shaded walk among foliage is pleasant on a hot summer day.
My parents walk the trail around this lake every weekend. A great place to run or to watch and photograph wildlife. We've seen all kinds of birds here, especially in early spring. Two swans are here year round and Canadian geese are often spotted
It's a great place to exercise, take a walk, or just sit on a bench and enjoy nature. There's an abundant number of animals throughout the lake. People can also go fishing. I personally like to exercise in the morning or take a nice walk around.
It's a very serene place. There is a path that goes around the lake and at certain points, there is a clear view of the lake. I saw two swans today. Also there are benches along the path. There is a bike path and street parking is available.
I come here lots of times to go walk my dog, which is how I stumbled on to this park in the first place. It's a good park to spend your afternoon with a beautiful lake and a half mile loop around it. There's a good amount of people all the
Beautiful, yet small park with a paved walkway circumscribing a pond with a lot of geese...and scum. Otherwise, it’s peaceful here if you come early enough; before the older Korean ladies come to do their 9,000 laps around the water.
got there before the storm hit and and left just before it started had chance to get some very nice fall photos colors were just about at peak, afraid the wind & rain will wash most of the foliage down/off, was quite worth while
This place has its own way to visit. It's a 4 star for me because the view isn't that great, the water isn't clean, and all you do is go around in a circle. It's good for walking around if your interested!
I love this park. It feels like you aren't in Queens when you step into this park. The lake is beautiful with ducks and geese swimming around and the oath is paved to make it easy for kids and strollers
Beautiful spot to take the kids or just go for a calm walk. Plenty of turtles and ducks and swans and geese to look at while there...quiet and beautiful... definitely one of my favorite parks to visit
This is my absolute favorite neighborhood park to go for either an early morning or evening stroll. Very calm, serene, relaxing atmosphere. Certainly a hidden Gem. Check out the beautiful pictures.
When my mother was alive (pre Covid) this was her favorite place. I visit Oakland Lake once a month for a walk and to look at the ducks and geese that walk by. It's amazing for pictures as well.
This place seem to be the best place to take pictures if you are photographer. I got many good shots here, and has a beautiful sunset view. I was amazed that they do have birds and swans here.
Beautiful tree adorned urban escape with a nicely paved path around a large pond. There are benches to admire the swans, ducks and turtles. No bathrooms, about 1/3 mile loop walk.
Such a hidden gem in Oakland Gardens/Bayside. Lots of trees, beautiful scenery, lots of birds, swans, ducks and turtles. A great place for acwslk, jog or take the family!
The pictures say enough… this place is very beautiful and quaint come visit!

People can walk their dogs here… but pick up the poop please…
Amazing! Perfect for all ages and also pet friendly! Lots of flora and fauna, and my 3yo toddler always loves to play with the wide variety of rocks there …
A small park with beautiful view. The white swans has made their home on the lake. I saw the eggs today. Hope I will have the chance to see their babies.
This park is beautiful. Walking the path is so peaceful and the scenic views of the lake and surrounding trees brings so many families out for photo ops.
Great short nature walk around the lake. Spotted waterfowl, turtles, fish and birds. Ideal location for nature photography in eastern Queens.
Oakland lake is a nice place for a jog or a nice walk with your furry friends. Part of the walkway is broken otherwise a good relaxing place
Such a beautiful park, this park reminds me of Green Lakes State Park there’s lots of turtles, geese and two huge swans here …
Peaceful lake in Queens. It's an easy and relaxing place to take a walk and see nature. Swans, turtles and an assortment of birds.
Swans, geese, ducks, and turtles on the lake encircled by trees, wildflowers, a babbling brook, and a well-paved walking path.
Like a private park with aqua setting. Swan, fishes, pretty birds. Noticed water keeps running and it makes lake cleaned..
Great place to look at the animals here it peaceful and great view guess Wht when I was on a walk in the park I saw this!
Peaceful and picturesque oasis in Bayside. Definitely worth a visit. You'll forget for a moment you're in New York City.
Hidden gem with a nice short 15-20 minute walk around the lake. Walk path is a bit narrow and shaded with trees.
Beautiful park. There is actually some wildlife in this park. Swans and cute red ear slider turtles. …
Good local park with a small lake and a path that winds around it. Few park benches around. Nice place to visit.
Short (~0.6mi) walk around a nice lake, along a paved path. Occasional surprises, like this tortoise...
Nice local park with huge pond. They also recently paved a new road so people can walk around the pond.
Very nice place for a walk, a jog, taking in the view of nature, or just a place to sit and reflect.
Beautiful atmosphere, nice place for a walk but it seems like something has taken over the lake
Beautiful community lake hidden away in queens. Nice walking trails and very family friendly.
One of my favorite places to come and relax, enjoying nature and seeing people come together.
Great views of wild life in the middle of a crowd city. Calm place to relax. Well kept.
Beautiful park but the lake reeks of bacteria and who knows what
It's calm you can walk family friendly
