not study friendly at all.... they have divided tables and plugs for laptops and devices. other than that. This is NOT your typical library. More like a YMCA with books. If you can handle outside distractions like kids running and screaming around then your fine. if your okay with kids doing a scavenger hunt throughout the library then your fine (remember a scavenger hunt is a RACE to find hiding objects within the Library) There is a dedicated quiet zone whice is great but it is a small space so you are most likely looking for a table in the main area where kids run up and down the aisle (my first experience here, they were doing a scavenger hunt.. IN the library? which was confusing because it is attatched to a community center) .. Unfortunatly they also make annoucements thorough the speaker when kids programs are about to start so prepared to be inturrupted once in a while. also the announcement speak is played in the "Quiet room". This was my first time since renovations, and like i said its more like a YMCA with books. In my opinion a library is where we were taught to use our "indoor voices" and for quiet time. If the library isn't place to study, read, research, and write. where else can you go. hopefully the atmosphere changes. For now this best library that is STUDENT FRIENDLY would be downtown (central branch). The kids sections is downstairs and the library isn't used for kids programs so that they are running around the library. So if your a Starbucks person that can deal with background noise, your good. if you actually looking for quiet. Sorry unfortunatly this is not it.

I do care about community services and value the work that librarians do, but the Oakville Library client website and new (covid) pick up schedule are horrible. Pick up is available just 3 days a week... Website interface is confusing. I had to watch YouTube video about how to schedule an appointment. Wait time for some books is ridiculous. Here is my personal experience for scheduled pick up. July 15th- ordered 4 books for my daughter. July 27th - got a mail about the pick up for 1 book (of 4). Got the book 4 days later... 14 days later- got a notification for another 2 books. Still waiting for the 4th... So if you need some good Christmas readings, try to book it in September or October in order to get it on time.

HORRIBLE branch. AVOID. This is a library? It's noisier here than Union Station! Between the non-stop, loud talking by both staff and patrons with absolutely no discretion or sense of tact, the kids singing classes and the bizarre heating / air conditioning which sounds like a volcano about to erupt, it's impossible to get any work done or read in peace. Little children are permitted to run around screaming and crying with utterly no discipline and many inconsiderate people conduct rude personal cell phone conversations -- the last thing someone trying to do work wants to hear. Two attempts to work here have both failed and I'll stick with the downtown Centennial branch which is an actual library.

The kids section doesn't look appealing. 4 small tables with 2 small chairs, and I climb block thing. One wall is color green and everything else looked like the adult section. I went while they had a "program " for babies. My toddler heard music and wanted to go into the room, because the door was open. The door needed to be open for ventilation, but my son couldn't even watch because he wasn't registered and wasn't a baby. This was my first and last time there. We didn't feel welcome and the logistic planning proves to be poor.

With the new renovations done, my 3 yr old and I spend lots of time at the library and truly enjoy our time in the kids zone. Lots of comfy seating, a train table, large windows and good lighting; however, the shelves are mostly bare and book variety is scarce. I'm hoping this will change as time goes on and the library settles itself. The librarians are wonderful and helpful, offering stickers and colouring sheets to the kids. I have yet to the explore the rest of the rooms in detail this far but very happy they have reopened!

OK library. Not a lot of queer representations, if you’re looking for art related books I would say move on. Not a lot of selections for mature French books. Other than that the community is very rude. Layout is another thing. “Quiet” rooms are beside the kids area. Parents and guardians don’t know when to shut their kids up. Hard to study here. Teenagers are always obnoxiously gossiping. Go to a different branch :)

Great place for remote working. Theres a variety of spaces set up including small workstations with outlets and sound isolation. The collaboration room is good for remote meetings with headphones as it's quiet but you're able to speak. Lots of highschool kids come during the day so it's a bit hit or miss if you'll end up with some noise, kids making out, or just silence.

This review is specifically about the Glen Abbey branch of OPL. The facility was recently renovated and the new look is very clean, bright and functional. What's not new and thankfully so that the staff are really pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable!! A great place for kids and adults alike. Several quiet study tables, collaboration rooms and comfy reading couches.

By far, best library in Oakville in terms of cleanliness, designated study area / desks, knowledgeable, friendly and polite staff - specially Dona goes out of the way to help. The only downside is, as the library is connected to a community centre, it would have been ideal to have a cafe which would be open throughout the opening hours.

Great library in terms of study areas, my only complaint is that it can get a little loud during certain times of the day, especially with the children's area being open to the rest of the library. A set of headphones solves this issue though. Overall good facility with lots of children's programs and fitness options.

On the first floor just next of community center of Glen Abbey, Oakville. Very small and only a few seats along with walls... But children sections very good, and librarians help eagerly, heartily and warmly. We have to pay cost of scanning/sending them to an email (even without any consuming papers).

Great library,plenty of seating and nice areas to study. Minor complaint that the quiet room could be larger. It gets loud at times because the children's area is open,would be nice if it was a bit closed in,but as someone else said..use your headphones. Nice staff!

It's a good library. The staff seem quite friendly. My reason for three stars is that it can be hard to find a truly quiet place to do work or study as kids frequently run around and scream (As some already said). Overall, not bad.

Good selection of books and very easy to put books on hold and pick them up effortlessly. I wish the kids section was more varied and more copies were available for the popular books.

Great place!!! Lots of book selection and programs for kids. My 18-months daughter does not want to leave the library every time after the program. The teachers are super friendly.

Great Staff! Decent selection of books but what makes it better is that it is right beside the community center. You can wait while the kids get their swimming/gym lessons

The new renovations to the library are spectacular. Staff is very friendly and always happy to help. I just wish all the desks were more accessible to electrical outlets.

One of the best public library . Very kind and accommodating staffs and librarians . A fantastic place to spend a whole day in peace and in a productive way .

The best library in all of Oakville. Has quiet study spaces, wide variety of books of different genres, high speed internet, and helpful staff.

Very organized, It doesn't have a lot of good books in my opinion. However its great, I'd recommend going to there a lot.

Very nice place, excellent service. They have a great selection of jewellery pieces and watches. Totally recommend it.
