I witnessed an old lady with the language barrier trying to get a ticket at the ticket window where the employee rejected to help. I helped the customer and later I went to ask the agent (badge number:2721, she said ) said, she have showed that customer earlier how to use the machine and the customer hates her so she bother her every time. I said you should not have talked to her like this and the ticket lady responded, I should not get involved into this conversation and mind my own business. She raised her voice and said “I do not get paid by you so you do not need to tell me what to do, I have been working for 5 years.” I found her behaviour extremely rude not only towards me but to the other lady too. She, herself, had a vary thick accent and she sounded like a Guyanese lady (if that helps to identify since I do not trust the number she gave me Was correct ). I insist on opening an investigation on her since I do not feel that she is a right fit for the job. She does not know how to do customer service and she is not at ALL professional. She spoke in loud voice and in my opinion she was prejudiced to assume that the other lady doesn’t know how to use it. There are customers who suffers with dementia specially at old age. The customer service agent had no right to speak to a customer in such rudeness neither she had any right to talk to me with a loud voice and yell at me for raising my concerns. I am at the platform and I heard the train arrival notice and the customer agent that I have this incident with seem to speak the announcement.(again trying my best to identify the same person) I’m highly disappointed with her behaviour and I once again insist that some actions must be taken against this individual since the job is not a right fit for her at all.
Hi! I'm not reviewing the station itself but rather a bus driver that was extremely helpful towards me. She wrote her name down on a note but I couldn't read it properly. I think it says Raii or Raji. She wrote the number 1907 so I'm assuming that is her bus number. She went out of her way to help me get to a very important appointment on time as it was my first time in Oakville and I wasn't aware that the bus I was originally supposed to get on only operates during rush hour. What a stupid concept, in my opinion. Anyway, she drove me exactly where I needed to go in order to catch a second bus. She reassured me that she would tell me when my stop is here and she delivered on her promise. Without her, I would've never made it to my appointment on time. I hope she gets some sort of raise because I never experienced a bus driver going out of their way for me like this! ❤️
If I could give it 1 star I would. My friend (from out of town) and I stopped in the Oakville Go Stn to use the washrooms (as we were waiting for the local bus and had some time) and the washrooms were ABYSMAL! The ladies room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. No toilet paper in the handicapped stall and the maxi pad container over flowing. It was disgusting. I wish I had thought to take pictures as I would have been more than happy to take a photo of the disgusting mess. To make matters worse there was not one attendant at the station. Those that needed tickets or to put $ on presto used the machines. I don't normally give negative reviews but this was absolutely disgusting! We are still in the middle of a pandemic so the lack of cleanliness disgusts me even more.
Call it coincidence, but the last THREE times I’ve tried taking a Union bound train from this station, there have been very serious logistical and communication blunders on behalf of Go Transit. First, they did not communicate a track closure ahead, and everyone was forced off at Clarkson to wait over an hour for a bus transfer. Second, I waited for a train which ended up cancelled and no announcement was made. Now today, the train was stated to arrive at platform 2, and ended up arriving to platform 3. Each of these incidents left a crowd of 50-100 angry people waiting for the next train. The only reasons I’m rating two stars instead of one is because the location is reasonably accessible and I like that the westbound track is located right next to the parking lot.
They cancel trains, change tracks, delay, and reroute on a very regular basis, but do not communicate these changes except for some poor speakers early in the day and the computer screens which are only visible from one entrance. If you choose any of the other multiple entrances, especially after 6, you are playing Russian roulette hoping your train will arrive where it is supposed to. All the tracks are separated by an absurd length of maze so if you see your train is on the the way to the track next to your position, It is already far too late to try to catch it. Wouldn’t be such a problem if this was a rare occurrence, but it happens many times a day, all the time. There are some easy, inexpensive fixes the station could implement but they don’t.
Very bad experience on July13/16 around 5pm due to a rude custodian. I decided to travel with Via first time and it is last one. There was no sign of "do not enter in hallway" sign was only for "caution wet floor" so walked carefully through it. There was this guy started to yet at me and saying use common sense i just cleaned floor, can't you go around the hallway? I asked him where is sign of not to wall here? This guy didn't say anything about that but kept shouting use your common sense. I don't know how can VIA keep such a bad behaviour employee. That was it from me to Via. I hope VIA fix this issue sooner before that cleaning guy ticks off more customers away.
GO Transit is good when its good but AWFUL when its AWFUL. Missing trains causing delays, giving wrong information and then being stranded all as someone who has mobility issues and made staff aware from the beginning. Then when you go to customer support and email your feedback they basically tell me its MY FAULT that I got stranded after following the directions and taking the train/bus the employee advised. Needless to say it was a waste of money and then an absolute joke to be told it was my fault. That trip would have been rated negative stars if I had the chance
I am not a avid go train user and decided to take the train down to the Game from the Oakville go station. So I stopped in early to see what the schedule is departing from Oakville. Only to find out that NOBODY WORKS THERE? I had cash on me to buy a ticket for tonight..........BUT YOU DO NOT TAKE CASH? THERE ARE NO PRINTED TRAIN SCHEDUALS ??There is no one able to give directions on where to go? I find this very poor that a publicly funded transportation IN FACT ITS UNBELEAVABLE !!!!! ! WILL NEVER TAKE THE TRAIN AGAIN.
The via rail agent is a true customer care agent. I was running late picking up my father who had just arrived from ottawa. The agent made my father a tea and brought him peaches while they both waited for me to pick my father up. After the station had closed in the afternoon last week He waited with my father because it was very hot. He made sure my father was comfortable as I was an hour late. Thank you to who ever you were. Yes via rail!!!!
Terrible to walk to from any direction. Lock your bike here and it’s gonna get stolen (like mine was) park your car here and get it broken into (like my friend’s) Leaky busses. Why are you driving here to park your car and get on a train? Needs better bike security, better bike paths and faster loading time for when you only have debit and need a drink or snack from gateway. Sheesh..
It's a good station, one of the better ones I would say. My only gripes relate to parking and pickup. The parking lot is pretty much always full and although there is a parking garage, those are always a massive pain to navigate. Also, the pickup is several lanes wide, however, there is no way to get out if there are cars blocking the other lane.
I had left my wallet here and a staff member had let me know i had left it on a bench. I am so thankful that this person was as kind as they were. it's hard to come by such honest people sometimes and this location certainly had helpful staff. This was just an example of the many times the staff here had provided excellent service.
I visited Oakville Cardiologist for annual checkup. I used public transit and the bus stop is located on the north side of the property, very convenient. There was no excessive wait time. I was promptly scheduled for all my tests and met with my cardiologist in less than one hour. Very prompt, friendly staff and very professional.
When you visit Oakville GO, you’re taking your life into your own hands. Almost got run over by a bus here. Bus driver just laughed in my face when I asked him why he tried to run me over. Complained to customer service at Oakville Transit and they still have not responded a year later and after 2 follow ups. Useless.
I was having a horrible day but the staff here made me feel so much safer. As a student living on my own I don’t always have enough money to get where i need to, but the staff here provided me with a complimentary ticket after the trains went out of service. Without them I would not have been able to get home safe.
I got to the rail and being from US didn’t quite know what I was doing. Dana spotted that I needed help and came over to me without question and got me the right tickets to get on my way to the Jays game. Excellent customer service and I’m loving the Canada way. They do IT right. Love IT
Excellent place to be if you want to travel to Toronto or Hamiton. The platforms were well cleaned and nicely renovated, with an elevator for those with impairments. Fare payment was easy, however there was usually a line up at the Presto machine in the tunnel for people loading money.
Travel updates, coordination, and staff are extremely helpful at this hub. The staff are helpful in ensuring that passengers are getting on the right trains, and waiting at the right platforms. Great travel hub, however, it is difficult to access if you do not drive.
I wish there were sits when they make you wait until minutes before the train arrives to find out where your platform is. Due to the construction, there's a massive lack for signage and for someone that goes on like twice a year it was quite a headache to navigate.
Family/Handicapped accessible bathroom was out of order but there was no sign posted, regular washrooms were absolutely disgusting and the hand dryers did not work/have enough force to actually dry your hands unless you want to stand there for 5 minutes..
So. Go train service down between west harbour and Oakville. Fine. Shuttle bus gets to Oakville. Train conductor sees people coming up the platform. Closes the doors on everyone who got off the bus, then leaves. Great coordination everyone. Lol
I needed to take a train back into Toronto on the weekend. Seems quiet. I think regular weekdays will be a different experience. There are announcements that masks are still required. There are also shelters to protect commuters from the
The station is very clean and the platforms are very close to the parking lot. There's also a VIA Rail station there as well. It's located across from several businesses and has McDonalds beside the station for easy accessibility to food
It would be nice to see Via Rail trains stop in Oakville as well. It's not too noisy, and various buses from Oakville come here, so it's a good idea to take a bus from anywhere in Oakville and transfer to the Go Train.
There are no service agents there (Covid?). Must load Presto Cards at one of the two kiosks outside, one of which does not appear to be working. Cannot see the screens well because they are not shaded from the sun.
Not too hard to find your way around, even at 10pm...make sure you don't miss the last trains tho Very friendly, courteous, and helpful staff. Very accommodating to disabled/wheelchair passengers as well. …
Typical for a GO Station, convenient location, lots of parking. Trouble happens during the afternoon rush hour. Getting out of there will take time, as there aren't many options for roads out of the station.
A relatively nice and new Via Rail station. There is a clean bathroom and lobby area. Very easy to board the trains from this station and makes for a nice trip to Niagara Falls. - A Richard Trus review
Just saw GO staff in Oakville GO station and customer service worker on an out of service train help a girl retrieve a parcel she left behind. Love to see the great GO staff go above and beyond!
Me encanta el servicio de transporte público en esta ciudad . Muy ordenado todo, puedes comprar tus boletos en línea o en una casetita que está en la estación. Todo excelente aquí …
I have always found this station to be clean and efficient. The parking structure has solved all of the parking issues and the connections to Oakville Transit work in a pinch.
Today you could not get tickets at the booth and one outside , I was being three times directed three different locations almost missed train advice : Go early !!!!!
Very poor design, only one staircase to get to the Lakeshore West line which is crowded to the point of danger. Bronte or Appleby are better choices for commuting
Poor transit design for commuters. There’s only 1 lands out of the parking lot, rush hour has 4 KISS lanes. Worse than leaving wonderland at park closing
- Clean Station - Calm Station - Well mantained - Restroom, waiting room available - 4 platforms - Near bus terminal which is big plus
The train itself is rather excellent, but wayfinding on the station and getting info on which train you need to be on can be tricky.
The trains need alot of maintenance, some doors did not open. Not due to construction on the outside because for some unknown reason
Quiet little town with elegant suburbs, good assortment of stores and services. The home of the Sheridan College, Trafalgar Campus.
Long line-ups for pickup, and it is designed in such a way that if you are not the first car, you can get blocked in
A train station with a huge parking lot and also a parking complex. There are many restaurants and stores nearby.
Now you can find lots of people smoking on Go property including platforms and Bus area, it seems no one cares.
Sorry to comment on it I would like to see washroom clean better than I saw tonight Oct 7.it was very dirty.
Great small suburban train station. Well maintained. Convenient location. Easy access. Helpful staff.
This station have a good service, in a winter time is warm. Close to supermarkets and restaurants.
Sometimes finding a parking spot can be a hassle. Clean station with benches to sit and wait.
Fast, reasonable rates. I would like to see more seating installed at the outdoor platforms.
Wonderful town to explore on foot. Lots of history, great food, and a variety of boutiques.
Safe community with lots of shops downtown. Bronte harbour is not far, 30 minutes by walk.
A fairly quiet area with some shops and various other types of businesses nearby.
Incredible town. Calm and very quiet in comparison with the rest of GTA
Nice go station, people working there are always friendly and helpful:)
Great location, clean washrooms, always have the AC or heat on, safe.
Its more like a disney land exhibit for people who are well off.
Bus driver refused to stop when stop was requested.
Go train runs on Canadian time, always late
Love bringing nephews to see trains here
