Authentic, amazing quality, friendly staff - our new favourite local bakery! The Old Evropa curates a great collection of sweet baked goods, savoury options as well as a great selection of fresh breads. We paid this place a visit post-swimming lessons and my kids loved the croissants, while I enjoyed a olive and tomato focaccia. There is a small area in store for sitting, where you can watch the coffees being made and the bread being loaded onto the racks. The staff were super friendly and engaging with the kids too which was nice. Can’t wait to come back and a danish or two! UPDATE: Can confirm Escargot and Brioche are delicious!

It's a delight to come to Old Evropa and enjoy their bread, their coffee and their sweet treats. Four weeks ago I tried their organic croissants - fabulouso! Two weeks ago I tried the organic day and night danish - Oh la la, delicious. Today I bought a loaf of the sourdough and came home, lavished with butter and organic honey - I'm in heaven. It's wonderful to have such a classy place in Eltham that makes high-quality food and the decor and design of this small boutique shopfront is a blend of rustic and modern. Although only a few tables to sit at with your coffee, it does a great passing trade and that's their core business. The staff are delightful, helpful and very attentive. Although not cheap, the quality is why you'd come. Located in the Eltham Village Shopping Centre, there is good parking at the rear. It is wheelchair accessible and kid friendly. A must visit.

We used to love going to this bakery for pastry and coffee however recently they have changed coffee brand and it tastes bitter and very disappointing part is that pastry is smaller and smaller each time we go there. It’s not worth for the money they charge. They used to have this lady working there who would give you 2 x pastries if they came out smaller on a day for same price, that was fair and would justify mini serve for high cost but not anymore. It’s a shame, it feels like it’s intentional.

I had a soy flat white and a raspberry custard Danish pastry. The coffee was as good as it gets, and the Danish was better! That pastry - so fresh and flavoursome, cannot be compared to anything you can buy from a franchise or supermarket. Also, the general French ambiance: music, girls uniforms, lady with the French accent - like being in Paris. What a shame about the Chemmart across the way - try to get a seat facing in rather than out. .

This is a hidden jewel of a bakery that has won the prize of best non-European panettone this year. I managed to order one just in time for Christmas and drove 20km to pick it up and it was totally worth it! We could not wait to try it, so we opened it today and enjoyed it by itself or garnished with some mascarpone and Grand Marnier to make it even more decadent. It was absolutely fragrant and delicious.

I've given a five star rating previously for the coffee and pastries - as good as any in the world. But now for the bread. It no doubt is made with a lot of care and with the finest organic flours. However, it is for my taste too dense, too dry, too floury. Perhaps it has a tiny amount of salt? No oil at all? Is this purism being placed before the requirements for a delicious, moist and crusty loaf?

Good service, nice food. This place is a few years old and still going strong. The owners are always seen busy in the kitchen but they always manage a smile and a wave. Highly recommended. There was a time when I was at this bakery and there seemed to me a very rude customer, but the staff there was still very patient and polite. This is a real GEM of a place. Again highly recommended.

This is a great bakery to get wholesome organic pastries and bread! The Barista will flawlessly make you an incredible cup of coffee as well! It's like stepping back into Europe with each bite you take.Damian and Tatiana truly make authentic European bake goods and take the time to explain their process and get to know their customers. It truly is the best place in Elthem.

Looks good with a tempting display of loaves and pastries. Bought a baguette which was rock hard and ended up in the bin. The next visit I chose a loaf of sourdough which had an unusual chewy texture which me and my friends disliked. My takeaway coffee was cold and tasted burnt.

OMG what can I say. Best bakery ever. I even made a New Years resolution’Year of the Pastry’ and went every week... and some. Need to arrive around 9:30-10 and you get the best selection of goodies straight from the oven. They sell out fast. Hot buttery croissants are my fave.

Organic ingredients baked into delicious artisan bread and pastries. My favourites are the kolache, the focaccini, the baguettes, the ciabatta, etc etc oh yes and the coffee. Such lovely owner/bakers and staff. Eltham is so blessed to have Old Evropa Bakery.

Good selection of great bread and European- style bakery products. Wonderful 100% rye bread and great coffee. Located in the small Eltham Shopping Centre, opposite the pharmacy. Limited seating (just a couple of small tables).

Pretty much the best chocolate croissant in Melbourne. What a phenomenal selection of handcrafted sourdoughs and other treats. I wish bread and pastry were protein and that it was healthy as I would probably be here everyday.

Often if I have family over at ours, or if I am visiting my family, I'd always bring fresh pastries from Evropa. Foodies outside of Eltham often complements the quality and said its nicer than Lune!

  • Anthony Macri

Very authentic family owned bakery! Ingredients are organic, stone ground and long fermented. It's healthier and tastier than mass/fast prododuced baked goods we've sadly become accustomed too.

  • Allan G

Excellent pastries, good coffee and nice service. Awesome find. Being half French, I have a high standard for pastries and these guys make is as good if not better then the original thing!

  • Brendan Janssen

Delicious 'melt in your mouth' Danish & warm Ciabatta straight from the oven are my favourites. The staff are always friendly and everything looks clean and organised.
