Although there is a lift, it is not ideal for those requiring a wheelchair. It also offers the use of a beautiful internal terrace for moments of relaxation. Excellent reception in English. You receive all the strategic info to get around or eat well in the city or what to visit in Bari and beyond. Sometimes fun and cultural tours are offered with free donations. The Olive Tree is an affordable hostel that is perfectly fine to stay at. The location is good, close to the train station and 10 minutes walk from the old town. The staff is varying degrees of helpful. I arrived in the morning to drop off my bags and had to wait till the afternoon to check in. The girl that showed me the map in the morning basically just drew a line to show me where the old town was, which was not really useful. Later when I came back to check in a different woman was there and she went over the map with me again with great detail and all kinds of suggestions and ideas. Overall the hostel was clean. At times a bit dirty but that's the fault of other travelers not having manners and not really the hostel's fault. They had lockers with locks and keys provided for free. As other reviewers mention, the doors to the individual rooms do not lock. This is the first time I've ever encountered this in a hostel. There are 3 bathrooms/showers (individual, meaning only one person can use each one at a time) for the whole hostel so mornings might get competitive. I recommend showering in the afternoon or evening. Overall a nice stay and I'd come back again.

The hostel is very simple. I am giving it 3 stars cause I feel it is a tad misadvertised. If it was more transparent, I would have 5 stared it. The hostel is in rougher condition then photos indicate. The beds sheets aren't vibrant and the bed frames are worn out. The bathroom is a bit broken too. The location is pretty far from old town and on the rougher side of the city. I recommend you just turn right out of the hostel and follow the road down for several streets before heading north to old town. It is also along a noisy road, so if you aren't a sound sleeper, bring headphones or you may be up all night. There is good though, bed frames are old but sturdy. When you climb to the top bunk, you don't feel like you are waking up the person on the bottom. Reception is friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast is simple breads and cereal but it is filling. Wifi is fantastic and a lifesaver. I had to play music in order to drown out the street and the wifi was streaming HD very easily. Kitchen is great and the dishes are modern. A few euros spent on repairs would get it more stars. I would stay again but would see if anything is in old town first.

Do una stella per far capire quanto questo posto mi abbia deluso. Si perché da un ostello mi aspetto tutt'altra cosa. Alla reception ci ha accolto una ragazza che a malapena parlava italiano, che dapprima si è dimostrata gentile poi ha cambiato atteggiamento quando abbiamo fatto le nostre osservazioni prima a lei e poi al titolare. Le nostre rimostranze riguardavano la mancanza delle più elementari norme anticovid, ovvero: ospiti che giravano nei luoghi comuni senza indossare la mascherina, sistemazione in una camera di circa 15 metri quadrati con 4 letti a castello posizionati uno accanto all'altro, per areare il locale era fatto obbligo di lasciare spalancata la porta del terrazzino con conseguente invasione di zanzare e rumori del traffico. Quando abbiamo chiesto spiegazioni al titolare si è messo subito sulla difensiva dimostrandosi sgarbato ed arrogante fino ad invitarci a lasciare la struttura. Nella nostra breve permanenza abbiamo notato anche una scarsa pulizia generale. Per quanto detto e per il prezzo (non certo da ostello) lo sconsiglio vivamente!!!!

So good we stayed here twice! The owner was super nice and accommodating and told us all the great places to explore in Bari (definitely get the foccacia!) The shower closest to our dorm was a little on the small side and you share 3 bathrooms between all the guests (2 at nights as one is locked) -however this wasn't a problem for us staying in November. The kitchen was really great and they even had an oven- the balconies were also great to sit out on- but the kitchen could get crowded at times. They lock the kitchen at 11- which was the only real social area- but the staff recommended great places to go out. Check in is after 5- but once you are checked in you can come and go as you please- all in all we had a great time here- and it was one of our favorite hostel experiences. Met lots of great people and would definitely stay again!

Home away from home. David was very caring way before I arrived to the hostel, but the hostel itself is a miracle. Somehow everything makes you feel like home, and a big family. I was in the biggest room, with snoring and coughing roomies, but it kinda felt rather fun than annoying. They serve breakfast. You can work on the balconies. At the kitchen people usually chat & cook. Met amazing people! Bed was very comphy. They also always recommend you what to do and where to go (don't go to Copacabana, however :))! The only tiiiiny thing that I wish was different (but impossible to change) - to have more toilets. There are 3 bathrooms with toilets, so if in the mornings they are busy with people showering and you want to pee.... Well good luck :)

Quite expensive for a hostel stay, although the hostel is very basic. I paid over 40 EUR a night in October on the weekend, but unfortunately Bari is lacking a lot of alternatives. Only two bathrooms and one separate toilette which is closed at night. Even if the hostel is not fully booked you will have to wait at times to go for a shower or to the toilette. Staff is mostly nice young people from outside of Italy and therefore lacking local knowledge which would have been a nice bonus. There were no social activities or anything organised so people were more for themselves.

The place is pretty run down: e.g.: hole in bathroom door, floor in the kitchen broken everywhere, material of the toilet seat is coming off... Owner is really nice and helpful and the coffee is pretty good :), but other staff insisted in keeping the window closed, even though there were 8 people in the room, it was really hot and stinky... the bunk beds are really cheap and unstable, so you recognize every movement of your bunk bed partner at night... Mattresses are worn out and top small for the beds... Location is quite handy - it's quite close to the train station

Pessimo hostel! ho soggiornato una sola notte in questo ostello e mi sono trovato molto male. Nonostante il prezzo elevato fuori stagione (21,61€ camerata da 10), i servizi a disposizione sono miseri, 1.5€ per un'asciugamano, 3€ per depositare il bagaglio e il check out forzato alle 10AM!! mai visto in tanti viaggi da backpacker un così pessimo trattamento. Ho chiesto di lasciare una borsa piccola per 4 ore (dimensione di una briefcase senza alcun oggetto di valore all'interno) che non necessitava di occupare un armadio e mi sono stati chiesti 3€, il ragazzo al desk (parlava un pessimo italiano, forse albanese) è stato molto arrogante e veramente poco disponibile.

David, the owner was especially pleasant. He is the only one that works there year-round, but the staff that was working there temporarily were special as well! Floor (Dutch), Anna and Emma were very helpful and even will hang out and show you local spots when they have free time. The place is cute and clean. It attracts the right type of travelers I was looking for, and it is in a central location for walking to Old Town and the train station to explore towns up and down the coast. It has a beautiful terrace to hang out on and sip wine. The list goes on.. Please say hi to David for me when you visit! -Daytin

Olive Tree has become a home away from home for me :) the place, the friendly vibes, the love and thought put into it and simply being in Bari <3 ! Also doesn't hurt to be close to the train station and have so many delectable treats at a craving's reach (taralli, panzerotti, scagliozze e di più!)!! Chillin' on the balconies which are wrapped around the floor give a sense of "I feel like I live here," which is always a comforting feeling. David, the owner, is awesome! He always helps out with whatever he can, chooses the best staff and keeps the place runnin' smoothly :D Hope you enjoy your stay(s) there as I have! ^_^

Really enjoyed my stay at OTH (pleasantly surprised). Only met nice travellers there and the staff was friendly + helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable. It felt like home away from home! A basic breakfast (cereal, bread, spreads, eggs, coffee, tea, milk, juice...) and a lock if needed are included which is always a bonus! Best things are it's location near everything, especially the station useful for day trips, and the terraces everywhere! Including the nice and quiet central one with plenty of space perfect for chilling, eating, socializing... Come here if you can, thanks David and co!

Great location, very clean and quiet hostel. It's not a party hostel but it was still possible to socialise and mix with other guests. (I highly recommend doing Gianfranco's day trips. We had an absolute blast!) The owner, David, has great local knowledge of... everything in Bari! My ONLY complaint was that upon check-in, David did ask if I were Australian!! :( I clearly got over the initial shock - AND insult - because I extended my stay by 3 nights :) Thanks guys! A presto! P.S You should definitely stay here... you'd be mad not to! I've just booked for my return trip to Bari. I might see you there ;)

I stayed here on my recent travels to Bari and it was a very good experience. The hostel was clean, the check in and out was super easy with very kind and helpful staff. The location is an easy walk from the central train station and a short walk to the old town. I felt safe and comfortable staying here and would recommend this hostel to others. The owner David had great tips for Bari and also helped with questions about transport in the area.

Yeah, really nice. The owner was friemdly and accomodating, the staff were also friendly and informative. Free breaky is a great touch. One negative are the check in times are weird. I reccomend not trying to check in between I think it was 1pm and 5pm? There are no staff at these times, and I made this mistake and had to wait a few hrs. Noted. Otherwise, clean, comfy beds!!! Good wifi, a spacious kitchen with all you need, more than enough bathroom and shower facilities for the number of people... close to the train station etc.

25 euro in camerata da dieci nemmeno al nord Europa. Chiamo per avvisare che arriverò tardi, due settimane prima chiedendo se è un problema, in caso fosse stato un problema avrei prenotato altrove. Mi risponde una tipa che parla solo inglese per fortuna che sono bilingue e non ho problemi, spiegata la situazione mi dice che non c’è problema, mi dice anche che si è segnata il mio nome ed orario di arrivo in modo che riesca a fare il check in più tardi. Arrivo ed il telefono è staccato e nessuno mi risponde al citofono.

After agreeing with this place to reserve a number of beds for our traveling group, the reservation  was cancelled without any notice. So we asked about the reason behind such a behavior,  the owner of the hostel unashamedly answered that he is the owner and that he doesn't need to justify his actions. Later, he falsely referenced a policy that prevents  hosting groups, however and after much review  such a policy didn't exist at the time of reservation WHAT A HOSTel!

One of my favourite hostels. Staff were great! Welcoming, helpful and happy to take you out on the town when not working. Facilities we great, well maintained. Laundry available however no dryers. Secure entrance (but Bari feels safe enough). Location is great, near the train station, restaurants, seafront, etc. Atmosphere was great when I was there. Meet plenty of cool people and even travelled with a few onwards to Greece! Would recommend this place for single, couples or group travelers.

Excellent hostel, spacious rooms, very welcoming staff/owner, clean, large bathrooms, good breakfast which is a plus for a hostel, close to both old town and train station, lovely balcony and garden, very friendly place unlike many others, they keep your bags, let you stay as long you wish after checking out, they give you a map with tips and directions. Definitely recommend it

If you need a place to stay in Bari, and if you travel alone or in a small group, Olive Tree hostel is the right one to stay! I had an amazing time during my stay, rooms are clean, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen to cook and a beautiful garden/balcony. The owner is such a nice person! If you have an issue theres always a solution! I’m really happy about my stay. During my stay i met some amazing people, whom i will never forget! I’m really sad to have to leave :( I recommend to go here!

this is Marcelo, from Uruguay, all the people at olive tree behave with me like part of the family, the place was very clean all the time, they have three bathrooms, all very neat and nice. The rooms are really big with drawers for personal belongings, and the entire property has natural light coming from the balconies. And you can cook watever you want at the kitchen wich have everythin you need, included ingredients!!! Best regards to David and Claudia, very nice persons!!!

Olive Tree Hostel is one if the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in!! I totally recommend it if you’re traveling to Bari. Its perfect location near the train station allows you to visit all towns nearby very easily! And the staff are the best, so friendly and always willing to help and down for a lovely chat! The best: the kitchen. A lot of common things and space to cook. The service is also good, they don't care if after the check out you stay for a bit in the balcony or other spaces. The hostel is pretty safe and the location is amazing, super near the train station. The worst: the noisy beds.

This hostel is so great. First of all people is super nice, it has this cozy vibe, it's super clean, and I had the best sleep ever. The breakfast is simple, but if you have fresh coffee and absolutely delicious fresh baked bread you're going for the win. Also is really close to the train station so that's another plus. Great staff, they are friendly and very willing to help. We find it to have a very cozy atmosphere. Close to the train station. Twenty minutes from old town. 35 minutes from the beach. Has a typical breakfast (bread and cereal) reasonable cooking supplies for the kitchen (toaster can be a little tricky) has three bathrooms, two with showers and one with a bath/shower. No complaints from this group (one female two male English speaking)

We are in 2022 and we still face such reactions... Really very disappointed behavior as we book as a group (no previous experience with hostel from both side) and after booking the hostel management cancelled our reservation withouy any justifications... Actually im traveling around the world since 2014 and this is the first time i face such behavior from a hostel (investor)... We will do our best to have a better residence.. Im sure

Fantastic hostel. I knew very little about Bari and the staff gave me the perfect info. I'm a foodie and wanted to try local dishes and they sent me to the right places. The hostel had a good social crowd while I was there and the rooms were clean and comfy. I also visited Matera from there which the staff helped me with and I highly recommend

It's an apartment with big rooms adapted nicely to host many people with a bunch of beds. Noisy neighbors in the early morning so prepare your earplugs. Some of the staff has no experience, rude and not available to help. Mattresses are comfortable, but double beds structure isn't solid enough to avoid moving. The kitchen is so tiny and has no enough chairs to accomodate more than 6 people.

I had a really good experience at Olive Tree Hostel ! Hosts were really welcoming, friendly, nice, full of nice tips to visit Bari and the cities around like Monopoli and Polignano a Mare ! People are really nice too ! We feel good in that place, I fully recommend

Mai vista ne sentita una persona più sgarbata di questa. Ho chiamato per avere informazioni e ho ricevuto come risposta "siamo un ostello non abbiamo camere private". Non mi ha dato nemmeno modo di chiedere se aveva disponibilità per un posto che mentre parlavo mi ha chiuso il telefono in faccia mandandomi maleducatamente a quel paese. Sono senza parole! Vergogna!

LOVED IT! Excellent place to stay, great staff and the owner David is SO NICE. I really had a great time and will definitely come back. The hostel was clean and the rooms and bathrooms were spacious. The little garden is beautiful and at night looks lovely with the wee lights on.

Smal, alternative, and cozy hostel in an former appartment in Bari. Very helpful and friendly staff - with very good english knowlege (not usual in italy). I can recommend the nice double room with balcony. Location : Very close to airport-train and Bari central station. 15 minuts walk to the old town. Grocery and supermarket around the corner.

Troppo rumoroso la mattina, letti scomodissimi e scarsa possibilità di poggiare le proprie cose in camera e in bagno, armadietti minuscoli. Non si può pagare con carta e uno dei tre bagni viene tenuto chiuso di notte. Allo stesso prezzo o poco più sì trova molto di meglio. Una stella in più solo per la gentilezza dello staff e per la pulizia.

The staff are the best I've ever seen in a hostel, they're the most lovely and friendly people ever. They give you a map and recomend the best places and genuinely want to help you. Because bari is out of the way all the guests are super friendly as well and a drink on the terrace is brilliant. A truly lovely hostel. Thank you very much

Everything was perfect. Super small and friendly. When you come they show you around and make sure you feel welcomed . People are nice and friendly and the communal kitchen is always clean and there is some stuff for free to make. Bari doesn’t have many things to for more than two days I think. The trip was perfect. Reception good Very basic but what do you xpect for such cheap price! Could do with a bit of maintenance in bathroom... Breakfast from 8am so if you need to leave earlier DO NOT book here...ill have no such privilege. Also, make sure nobody else is showering in other bathrooms, as you will have no hot water, otherwise.

The staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. However, there are no nets on the windows and there are mosquitoes during the night. So either you get used to the buzz sound in your ears or try to sleep with closed windows but its too hot having in mind that we were 10 people.

I had a memorable stay here in January 2022. The staff are so friendly and always willing to help, the beds are comfortable and the outside garden terrace great for meeting other guests. Thank you Olive Tree!

È stato tutto perfetto! All'arrivo la ragazza alla reception è stata molto disponibile dandomi le informazioni necessarie. La struttura è pulita e sicura, in più si trova a pochi passi dal centro e dalla stazione. Sarà il mio punto di riferimento se dovessi pernottare ancora a Bari

The place is clean, is quite Central and the building is big enough and spacious. The rooms were clean when I arrive and to my surprise there were balconies were you can enjoy the view to the nearby streets. The staff is very helpful and informed me very well about all my doubts.

Definitely five stars for the way how the people of the hostel create a very positive atmosphere and are willing to help. Being a traveller/tourist has never been easier. Furthermore a nice hostel in general, close to the old town of the very charming city of Bari.

The hostel is fairly close to everything. It's friendly, clean and the staff are helpful. However, the air con in the room is so low that it's very hot at night. The staff didn't seem able to turn it up. So the nights were quite uncomfortable in August.

The loveliest receptionists greeted us and gave us a map with amazing suggestions of this beautiful town that Bari is. Very clean, with AC at night, and the doors seem pretty sound proof. Best hostel I've stayed in by far. The price was a bonus as well!

Ottimo ostello sito nel centro di Bari vicino alla stazione circondato da servizi e utenze che servono dei bar pub ristoranti banche consigliato che mi sono trovato molto bene! Peace out

Semplice, pulito e in una bellissima zona centrale di Bari. Oltre ad essere economico, è un posto dove incontrare persone da tutto il mondo. Un ostello della gioventù travestito da bed& breakfast. Buona la colazione inclusa e i servizi offerti

The rooms are clean and the staff is very welcoming. And you should ask Claudia to prepare her special chicken! She masters it perfectly. Thank you guys!

The owner, David, is an amazing guy with a really great team working there! Had so much fun with our group from the hostel and will definitely return!!!

Nice hostel in a great location in Bari. We stayed for 2 nights and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. One girl helped us book our day trips to surrounding towns. Facilities were nice and clean and the beds were comfortable

Cute small hostel, nicely decorated. Many balconies. Very friendly and accommodating, English speaking staff. Okay breakfast for an Italian hostel. Good WiFi. Could do with another bathroom, A/C only at night and not too strong.

Really nice hostel close to the center. Due to covid and end of the season I had the pleasure to have the entire hostel on my own which was a fantastic experience that I haven't had before :D Thanks also to David, great host

Loved this hostel. Clean and friendly staff. They did our laundry and made us feel like guests in their home. The owner wanted to make sure we had a great visit. Would recommend the beach and visiting the old town.

Noisy, full of musquitos, 3 toilets/bathrooms for 30 beds. The blinds dit not work properly. Good location at 10 minutes walking distance of the city center.

A sad place. They don't have a room to study or read, only a open place I supose it's not so bad in summer. My room was of 10 beds for 19€. My experience in hostels of Lecce (Oasis and Lobby) was very better.

Great value! Location is perfect, superhelpful staff, very clean, big kitchen to cook in. I've spent an amazing time here!

great place ! I just stayed three nights but it's clean, near to everything, free breakfast is really fine, and people are super kind and great ! perfect place to stay in bari ! ♥️

The place is a little bit noisy because of the Street. They canceled the booking for the second night without send an email. It is near the central station , old town and clean.

I have canceled my reservation and they still charged me even with deposit for security paid. My money are not returned until now and they are not answering to my emails.

10 minute walk to the metro. Staff is helpful in planning day trips in the area, a few interesting towns nearby to visit. Breakfast is instant coffee with buns and jam.

Great vibe, staff are fantastic, very comfortable beds, close to everything - what more do you need? I'll definitely stay at Olive Tree again when I'm back in Bari

Great hostel! Clean rooms and bathrooms and the staff is extremely helpful and nice! Also a good location, 10-15 walk from old Town and the beach, would recommend!

Wonderful staff, clean rooms. AC at night is a huge plus! One star off for the lack of bathrooms.. 3 is not enough during peak season ! Who wants to wait to pee?!

A great location only 10 minutes from the train station and 15 minutes from the old town. Rooms are lovely and clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Great place! Very near to Bari main train station. Very nice people, all clean and quiet. The bathrooms and the breakfast are really nice
