I rented a manual MX5-RF from Overdrive with pickup from Hobart Airport and drop off at Hobart CBD location. I had an absolutely awesome time with the car, pick-up was the smoothest process I’ve had with a hire car. I received a call from Overdrive a week before confirming all details, and received an email detailing pickup for the car from a lock-box with a number combination. From the plane to driving away within 10 minutes! I didn’t receive instructions for drop off at the city location and had to drop it off after hours, so I couldn’t reach the office phone. Be sure to confirm with the office for drop off details beforehand! Luckily, there were no issues with parking and the staff found the car the next morning with no issues there. I will definitely be renting again from Overdrive the next time I visit Tasmania!

The most simplest, quickest form of picking up your hire car, great idea !! Arrived at the airport and walked straight into the carpark to where my email said my car would be, entered the number on the box to get the car keys and then loaded the car, which was like brand new. Drove the car for our trip and then filled the car back up by the airport and dropped the car back off in the carpark space I had picked it up from and then locked it and put the key in the drop off box. Why wait around at the other big hire companies to have to sign wavers and show your drivers licence etc when you can do all that up front and simply walk straight out of the airport and collect your car - great idea and one I will use again.

Overdrive saved our holiday. When the car hire company we booked a vehicle with gave us 70 minutes notice (by email) of being unable to provide a vehicle, Overdrive were able to rent us a car. The staff were understanding of our predicament and provided face to face friendly service. The car available was a very nice Jaguar, which was a pleasure to drive, albeit more expensive than we had planned when we booked with the other company. Had we known about Overdrive some months ago we would have booked with them at that time. We had a very positive experience with them.

If you're coming to Tassie don't hire a boring car. IMO Tasmania has the best driving roads in the world and hardly any traffic. I've used Overdrive twice now, once via pickup from their office and once via the Airport. Both times the services was fantastic and the Airport pickup fantastically seamless! I hired the MX5 which is made for the Tassie roads. They are a bit expensive but I've never regretted it after driving the cars. My only advice to them would be to get a bigger selection of cars. A nice Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio perhaps?

Our group loved the vehicles from Overdrive Car Hire for our Tour in Tasmania. Everyone was eager to get behind the wheel of the Boxter and it didn't disappoint. The handling of that car was next level with power to match. We agreed that the BMW i430M was the comfort car of the trip also with firm handling and performance. The surprise package was the MX5 - great handling and responsive little car that loved the tight twisting corners and long sweeping bends. Overall we were all very impressed and will do this again.

Easy to book. Good communication and simple check in/out in Hobart. Only thing I was disappointed in was that I was told I had booked an MX-5 Soft top, but they had changed it to a folding hardtop RF. It was still an awesome car for the Tassie roads with the 6spd box, 2L NA engine and great handling. Would have been nice to have seat warmers, but fortunately wasn't too cold. Great experience - why hire an appliance when you can enjoy your destination and be immersed in it?

Hiring an MX-5 for a week was a real bucket-list experience, and Overdrive made it easy and enjoyable. Booking, pick-up (city) and drop-off (airport) went without a hitch, emails before and during the hire period were answered promptly, and the bond was refunded within a few days. The car was beautifully presented. Looking forward to tackling Tasmania's twisty roads again--perhaps in the Mini or the BMW! (If you're hiring the MX-5 for a two-person road trip--pack light!)

This was the best experience with a hire car company ever. I booked over the phone and my experience starting from there was amazing. Pick-up was smooth and no fuss. I drove the Audi Q7 which was a dream to drive. I then dropped off at the airport. Within the week I had received my bond back without having to chase the company or deal with any false claims which I have had from other hire companies. Highly recommend Overdrive and would definitely deal with them again.

Positive experience and wonderful customer service from Joseph and Anna. It was a later booking but Joseph made all the arrangements during Easter weekend. Drive Car reserves lots are strategically located at the corner of huge rental lot at Hobart Airport. Car is received clean and in good order. We hired the Mercedes for our weeks holiday in Tasmania. The car was easy to locate and access as soon as we arrived in Hobart. The car itself was immaculate and the handy short cuts card explaining how to use the car was a great surprise. Returning the car was simple and bond return was quick. Fantastic experience , I hired the Merc SLK 350 . The pick up and drop off of the car was seamless and the staff were more than friendly . The car itself was immaculate and a pure dream to drive on the great Tassie roads . I would happily recommend Overdrive for hiring high end vehicles to travel Tassie and its great driving roads . Would do it again in a heart beat .

Great service from Joseph at Overdrive. We had placed a deposit of $200 for an earlier planned trip that was scuppered by COVID, but Overdrive carried this credit forward until our recent trip when we finally got to go to Tassie. The Mini Cooper S was fun, and the whole collection and return process was straightforward. Not cheap, but recommended.

Such a great car, experience and service! The staff at Overdrive were so helpful and accommodating. It was such an easy, seamless experience. The car was beautiful and it made for a perfect weekend in Tasmania. We will definitely use them again and I couldn't recommend them more highly!

Highly recommended. I did a 1400km lap of Tassie over a week in the MX5 and it was fantastic. It's definitely worth paying extra to get a fun car as there are so many great driving roads. Overdrive were professional and easy to deal with.

Old cars, very long credit card refund process, they should be using pre-authorization on the credit card rather than refunding your security deposit after one month!
