I haven't attended or had children attend, but just mailing and dropping off forms (for an IEP) to this school has given me a good idea about how dysfunctional they are. Twice we mailed a consent form for an IEP, which they claim they never received. I made a special trip this morning to drop off forms at the School Psychologist's desk. It takes 5 minutes just to check in and have security write down all my detailed information. At 9:15 AM there is only one secretary in the large main office. She has no idea who the school psychologist is. "Is there any way I can drop off these forms for her?" She starts asking a random teacher standing there if she knows who this psychologist is. Nope, no clue. I ask a random staff person passing by if she knows the psychologist, yes she does! She tells the secretary the extension. No answer. Oh right, she's only here on Wednesdays. Ok, can I leave these forms for her to receive somehow? The secretary doesn't know how to do that, and starts helping the next person. I ask the random teacher standing there if she knows which department I can speak to that takes care of the IEP's, and she suggests Maria and Dana, but of course, they're not in right now, maybe you can bring the forms back next Wednesday when the school psychologist is here. That was when I politely left, and hoped never to come back or deal with them ever again.

As Director of Community Relations for Assemblyman David Weprin, I have not seen such a warm and loving learning environment as I have seen at PS 165. The principal, Mrs. Nealy is a hands on administrator who is loved by her students, the families of the students and her staff. The two assistant principals, Mrs. Luongo and Mrs. Werth are terrific educators, who assist Mrs. Nealy in the smooth operation of a fantastic school. I had the pleasure of attending their Dance Festival. It was amazing to see the school yard packed with an estimated crowd of well over a thousand parents, family and community members waiting from 7am in order to get a good spot to watch the show. It speaks volumes to the outstanding arts department, physical education teachers and the school community as a whole. I would highly recommend PS 165 The Edith K. Bergtraum School to any family.

The staff here is superb. Teachers work collaboratively to challenge students with high level work while providing a supportive, nurturing environment. The students that I teach regularly demonstrate their joy of learning and their appreciation for the care the staff provides. There are a wide variety of opportunities for students to broaden their knowledge and skills through varied arts classes and enrichment programs as well as multiple in school club opportunities for students ranging from grades 2 through 5.

PS 165 Q is an amazing school with caring teachers, staff and administrators. We know our children both academically and socially/emotionally. We care about all aspects of your children. We have the most wonderful arts programs in addition to enrichment programs that our principal makes sure our children enjoy each year. We are a great school because we collaborate with each other to make sure your kids have the absolute best education and we care about our families!

Wonderful school with a supportive admin and collaborative faculty. The one thing that stands out to me is how much each person cares about the well being of each individual student. I see children being intellectually challenged and stimulated with contemporary teaching methods. At the end of the day I see the children going home with a smile, and looking forward to coming back. Wonderful children who are willing to learn and grow.

Rigorous instruction, strong teachers and a supportive administration make this a wonderful school for your child to attend. The strong gifted and talented program provides the students with daily use of ipads and apple laptop computers. My students played violin on stage at Carnegie Hall this year thanks to the amazing music teacher!

Teachers are good if you get the right ones administration leaves a lot to be desired. Not very proactive or responsive and the principal does not treat parents with respect. Not sure why this school is not under more intense review by the city, they are failing the children that attend.

Wonderful school to send your child too! The staff is one of the best I've been around! They have created a great program in which your child will grow into a wonderful and prosperous young human being. Thank you Ms. Handburger for being so loving and caring to my son!

The school gave me horrible unforgettable childhood memories, basically a concentration camp on the way teachers, staff, faculty, counselors and principals treated students during that time, one of the worst schools I've been to

Such an honor to work with such a dedicated staff, beautifully diverse and hard-working student body, and smart, kind, and inclusive administrative team.

10 years they couldn't change the surface of the school playground, so there are a lot of children were injured.
