You know, I really really enjoyed this store. The interior and everything, the fish selection, it all was fantastic. Staff we’re polite too. On the other hand, all staff and what I’m assuming to be people ranked higher on their team repeatedly told me that the fish would be “perfectly healthy”. Shortly after I got them, internal diseases, extreme fungus disease, and such was present on the fish I had purchased. I have a large community tank, and hadn’t purchased any fish in a very long while (from any stores) and this disease they had, after I had purchased them, left a toll of death on lots of my larger, perfectly healthy fish in the community tank too. My parameters were in good condition as well. Please, I advise you, be careful. Below is a photo of the fungus on one of my fish (that is alive) in a quarantine tank I recently moved him to. Edit: He passed away shortly after that night—The fungus present appeared approximately 3 hours before this photo was taken, and he passed about an hour later. It was very sudden and rapid. I also had called to complain and they kept on dodging the complaint, not offering a refund of some sort, simply just responding with the ways in which I should treat the fish (which I had told them multiple times I had already been doing so). All fish are well now, but about 5 of my fish died (including extremely healthy large, adult angelfish), including the 2 large sailfin mollys I purchased.
2/07/2013 Thursday 7:00 pm second time in this store and I have to report the front of the store looks great. What a great tank they have! This time I purchased a lot of plants some a dozen neons. Andrew was my helper today, smart young man extremely helpful and willing to offer answers to my questions, even the ones that I didn't ask. NOW THIS is customer service! they have a great selection of drift wood and substrate and some CO2 products. I also purchased some substrate and a glass CO2 diffuser - I am very excited about. In conclusion, I'm really glad there is a store in NYC that caters to my new found hobby. Oh and did I mention I arrived just as they were closing their door and they still let me look around, ask questions and buy things. truly amazing service. 1/13/2013 Saturday round 3 pm - My first visit - Found some very nice pieces of drift wood. Very busy store. Lots of visitors when I went. you could tell some were from out-of-town, and some were regulars that came to buy supplies and schmooze. All the workers were very attentive, knowledgeable, friendly. I did observe that the store could be reorganized better especially in the front, they have a huge planted tank. with lots of stuff underneath and around, not too sure what was for sale etc.. Very healthy looking fish. but there is room for improvement in the housekeeping dept.
I went in to buy as many colors of the shrimp that they sell. I explained that to them three times. I also picked up a few plants and some substrate. All in all I spent over $80. I also explained to them that I had an hour commute to get home. They said everything would be fine. Well it’s not fine! I get home I find that I do not have different colors of shrimp I have three different colors of shrimp and I was supposed to get at least five different colors one of them had to be duplicated unless I wanted to go to the more expensive tank and get a different color which since we discussed the fact that I was not going to do that they knew full well that I wanted one of every color that they did have in this one tank and to just double up on one of them. They say bring them back. Give me a break it’s $50 for the cab fare one way and I already spent $100 going back-and-forth today so all in all I actually spent close to $180 to get a whole bunch of nothing… Don’t get me wrong I will take care of the shrimp they are cute but they are not what I asked for but apparently they are what I paid for. Very dissatisfied. It cost too much to get around these days to have somebody make a mistake like that and offer nothing to compensate me for their error...
This shop was once the best in nyc, but now is rundown and very overpriced for what it is. The prices were always ridiculous but they were more warranted when they were at the top of their game in the fish hobby. The plants look sad now - they used to have a small and healthy tank section. The co2 tank of plants doesn’t look like it’s seen co2 in a while. There used to be amazing small and large show tanks that showed a great level of skill and pride. Now they are gone or very diminished. I suspect this is the result of online fish and plant shops taking over and cutting out hobby shops and big box stores like petco union square stepping up their fish game over time. I know I definitely shop online for stuff more than I go to shops anymore. It makes me sad to see this shop in such decline but I guess this is what happened to many stores - small and department stores - as online pushed in. I would not be surprised if this shop announced a closure, and in a way it would be better than seeing it this rundown.
DO NOT BUY THEIR FISH! They ALL HAVE PARASITES!!! I bought some very expensive (WAY OVER PRICED over $200) nano fish from this store because I couldn’t find them locally. All 6 of the fish came with internal parasites and in a fews developed bacteria infections causing wounds and Severe fin rot (All 6 died and in a span of 5 days after purchase and newest my tank was fully cycled with all the right water chemistry and no other fin had been in the tank before). This is not the first time either. I bought some Cory catfish from here a couple years ago which also had internal parasites (3 out of 5 died and they have a no return policy no matter what). THESE PEOPLE DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE SELLING so they over price and NEVER quarantine or treat their fish before selling to customers. SHADY PEOPLE, if you are reading this I strongly urge you to take your money somewhere else or run the risk of wasting money on sick fish (heck even pet smart might be better).
I want to give this place 5 stars, but I have been a customer for 4 years. Everything in my tank is from this store. My tank is not huge, so once established it didn't need much. I went in on 7/2/20 to restock on some fish who had passed from old age. 2 of the 4 newly purchased fish died over night. I always thought I should leave them in the bag over night. I guess I was wrong. But when I spoke to someone over the phone he told me about the policy. No return/exchange on live animals. He asked me to explain everything and I did and then he repeated the policy. even though other fish died in my tank a day later. Why ask me to explain everything in detail if you are just going to repeat the policy over again? "because he wanted to know". He just waisted my time. I was fine with the policy. Very rude. I was a good customer, never complained, always in and out, always spent money.
It takes a lot for me to rate a pet store of any kind with five stars. This place was so clean, a lot bigger than expected, full of happy thriving fish, and the employees are very knowledgeable. It wasn’t humid, smelly, or gross like most aquarium shops are. They had beautiful aquascapes. They actually wait for their fish to acclimate to their new environment before selling them with labels saying “not ready to sell” which I’ve never seen before. They have a very large variety of food and necessities for tanks. We bought 9 neon tetras 3 days ago and 8 of them have made it. Better than the 9/9 that died slowly and painfully when purchased from a dirty store in Brooklyn. I think the one died of shock despite proper acclimation technique. Despite the large amount of koi in one tank, it’s very clean. I’d assume they’re going to be purchased or picked up soon.
This place and the people who work here are AMAZING!!! They are remarkably knowledgeable about fish and the environment each kind of fish need, but even more than that, they really care about their customers and about the fish themselves, and they go above and beyond the call of duty for both. I had a very sick little fish that I couldn't take care of (long story), and they took it upon themselves to nurse her back to health and then find her the perfect home. They even provide tours for local school children, to teach them about marine life. Simply amazing people. But in terms of products and customer service, whatever you need in terms of aquariums, supplies, fish…they'll be able to help you, and they'll do it with warmth and kindness. I can't say enough good things about them.
Beginners and pro aquarium keepers will greatly appreciate this place! The staff is knowledgeable, and it's clear that they care about the fish there, from the guppy to your ultra rare exotic fish. If you are a betta lover, each fish has its own little filtration and lighting instead of languishing in the dark in a plastic cup like in the big chain stores. They stock live plants and equipment and they do it at fair prices. They care about the customers too- after answering our questions, they helped us get a new tank into a cab, as my partner and I are disabled (note: two steps to enter the shop). Perhaps a bit ironically, if you're not an aquarium enthusiast but love to fish, it appears they have you covered too at the front of the shop. I will definitely be back!
I really like this place!! Highly recommend. They have a pretty wide selection of fresh & saltwater fish, shrimp, snails, plants, corals, even some amphibians. Also a very wide selection of food, nutrients, & hardware for aquariums, terrariums, and all the things in between. They even sell fishing gear for fresh and salt water, which i think makes it an all-around place. Chi, a really helpful dude on their staff, taught me a lot about my tank and what's probably going on in it, and i was only there for about 20mins. Came away with a really nice little pleco, a beautiful assortment of snails, and some floater plants. Will def come back for one of those cool looking shrimp once my 5gal tank is established! :)
I came here yesterday as a novice in aquascaping and finally fulfilling my dreams of having an aquarium after 48hrs of watching youtube videos. Anthony was super helpful in teaching me all i need to know about getting my first aquarium and setting it up. He gave me a step-by-step run down of all the products to buy, how they worked and the pros and cons. I didn’t leave with any fish (yet!) but i left with loads of knowledge and i successfully was able to set up my fish tank. Hopefully in a couple of weeks it will be habitable for some fish and have some nice plant life, i will definitely be going back to this aquarium to buy my first fish!
went here because snails ruined my betta tank so i wanted a complete fresh start. bought about $100 worth of new plants and since, i have so far found 8 baby snails. the more i look, the more i find. pretty disappointing seeing as how i traveled about an hour to get to this store. i should have just ordered them online from a reputable place that guarantees no snails or parasites! a couple plants are dying also. I bought two of two different types and one of each type is dying. but i know im not doing anything wrong because the other ones are thriving. selling half dead plants with snails. order online if you want guaranteed plants!
As a fellow fish hobbyist for a few years I can say that I have pretty much been to every high end aquarium shop in the city. Hands down top 2 if not the best place. I think what I love the most is variety of harder to find fish. They'll also accommodate orders if you want something they'll request if available. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. The owner is also a really nice guy who is also willing to answer ask your questions. They also have a variety of plants to choose from in their inventory. So I highly recommend you guys go and check it out. Love this spot b
I got 3 mystery snails, 2 plants(pennywort and amazon sword plant). They don't have any issues and are thriving without me quaratining them beforehand. I trust this place the most out of all the local fish stores. Almost forgot to mention, I got them 20% a deal that was storewide and they advertised on their Instagram and facebook page. The deal lasted throughout the weekend. Also the owner told said he was getting new shipment before the deal. I think the deal will come back. I just wish I got some shrimps when it was on sale. I would say keep looking at their insta/fb.
The best aquarium store in nyc hands down. Everything here is definitely higher quality than most stores I’ve visited. I will never buy aquatic plants anywhere else. I love the customer service here it is very refreshing to speak to someone who actually cares about the plants and fish they sell. They make sure you are aware of any special requirements for fish and plants. I’ve been in the fish hobby for years But just recently started my first planted tank with them and it wasn’t going so well until I visited pacific now I’m starting my 4th tank. Thanks guys!
OMG I CANNOT STRESS HOW AMAZING THUS PLACE IS a little pricey but the animals are SOOOO healthy and the Plants are SOOOOO healthy and vibrant!! Will definitely be getting ALLmy plants and animals here!! Edit: after getting multiple shrimp here none have turned up with any problems. Also made friends with one of the employees here and OMGGGG they are all sooooo KNOWLEDGEABLE you WILL NOT be lead astray here which is one of the most important things if you're looking to take the best care of your fish and raise them HAPPY, HEALTHY, and ETHICALLY
Absolutely gorgeous store and selection. Fantastic tank setups, huge fish selection, plant selection, tank accessories/ supplies, & unique tanks for sale. Staff is so friendly, very helpful, and all staff members were so so knowledgeable! This is everything you could ever want in an aquatic store. They even have tissue cultured plants! Which are the absolute best for avoiding cross contamination. They are sterile & therefor pest and bacteria-free! Prices for some items were a little high, but most were fair or average. I was very impressed.
Very clean shop the staff was very friendly and their prices are very reasonable. good collection of very unique corals and fish freshwater and Salt water. This store also has good assortment of fishing equipment such as fishing poles and fishing reels, you can also get bait and tackle here. I really enjoyed looking at their redsea reefer peninsula tank. Next time you’re in New York City make sure you stop by the Pacific aquarium store. If I didn’t live in Florida I definitely would’ve been making a purchase and taking them home with me.
Awesome shop. Plenty of fish and pet fish supplies, decorations...etc. The store was pretty large and the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Store was also very well kept and clean. I was really glad that all fish were well taken care of and kept in an adequate space. Best of all the prices were very fair and the fact that they are one of few stores in nyc that take social distancing seriously. Props to pacific aquarium and I will definetly visit again in the future. Two thumbs up guys. Keep up the amazing work.
What a fish store should look like For anyone who has been unlucky enough to find themselves in the aquarium sections of PetCo or PetSmart, then a visit to this store is a must. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by row upon row of gleaming tanks inhabited by active and healthy fish ready for sale. This is a far cry, indeed, from their brethren in the mass production industry. Pricing is reasonable and staff are on hand to answer any queries you may have. If you want quality fish, look no further than this store!
We purchased two Nerite snails for our live plant tank. Four days went by and they hadn't moved - they also hadn't moved while in the transit bag. They were dead! When I returned a week after purchase for two replacements, the employee said "no refunds on live animals." I understand the policy, but it sucks that I was sold dead snails. Their replacements are moving around in their transit bag. Besides that: Huge store, knowledgeable staff, easy location. The betta fish we purchased here is happy at home.
Got these beauties a few weeks ago and I love them! I like this shop because they have a large inventory of uncommon fish, both marine and fresh water, you can’t find at an LFS. In addition they also sell a variety of aquatic plants from low light maintenance to high tech. Yesterday I bought java moss for my bonsai tree project. Whenever I stop by it’s hard to not purchase more than what I want. The only draw back is there are no guarantees on aquatic life. If they die it’s your loss.
Pacific Aquarium in NYC is the best. They have a wonderful range of Healthy, fresh water aquatic plants and animals, as well as a having great salt water range. The staff really knows their stuff and are always happy to really talk to you and answer any questions. They are also helpful with any fish tank set ups. You won’t be disappointed with this store & you’re helping support an amazing local business by going there instead of a going to big pet store chain or shopping on amazon.
This place is just right for a beginners. These guys will explain you everything about aquarium size and fish to buy. If you'd like some exact type of fish they'll explain you how to take care of fish and what kind of other fish may be compatible with the fish you already have. Also, the store itself has a different varieties of fish and other appliances needed for aquarium. I've been in other fish stores, they are beautiful but this store is amazing. Recommend to everyone.
I have called with questions about issues with my fish in the past two weeks, and both times someone picked up the phone and impressed me by how courteous and professional they were. In fact, both store employees who answered the phone extended their expert advice to me, and possessed a sincere and pleasant attitude while executing it. Suffice to say, I will absolutely make the trip down to the EaSt Village from from Riverdale in the Bronx to give them business.
Only swung by to check out what things they had. As far as equipment and tanks there seemed to be limited options but their fish and plant selection looked great. The show tank alone is proof of this. One of my favorite tanks was the dwarf puffer tank. Made me want to create my own. I will definitely be returning to make fish and plant purchases. The prices seem reasonable for a mom and pop shop. Everything looked fairly healthy and employees seemed friendly.
I absolutely love Pacific Aquarium. It never ceases to amaze me with the variety of fish, fish supplies, food, equipment and plants you can find here. I was hooked from the 1st day I discovered them. You'll get way better service and from much more knowledgeable people than any of the big box fish stores, and they're open 7 days. I highly recommend you pay them a visit and support local shops like this one. If you're into fish you won't regret the visit.
Great shop! Nice staff answering all questions I had & I had a few. And I was searching for a small filter that I was actually gonna make myself eventually but they had one for $4.00 so I got it for my Nano tank project I’m creating. The plants are extremely well taken care of and beautiful green coloring. Large variety of fish as well but the plants again are the best I’ve seen in the city (5 boroughs) so far. I traveled from the Bronx to shop here!
As far as aquarists concerned, this is one of the must visits of NYC. and perhaps further. The setups and selection of fish are exceptional. And of course the coral variety and quality are spectacular. Rekindleds the feelings of entering the deep blue mysteries of the ocean. As a child, or an adult who is young at heart. And offers lots of new inspiration for your own aquarium. Most highly recommended. Love the Deep Blue
Terrible service from one of the workers there idk her name but all I did was start a conversation about how I was having trouble maintaining my tank and once I told her what I was doing she started yelling at me making me feel stupid like relax I am not an expert, and the worst part the store was pretty full so Ofcouse I was embarrassed and at the end she called me a fish killer , I liked the store but now I don’t ever want to come back !
I just spent 10 minutes speaking to a very patient, and knowledgeable sales person. They closed at 4pm (covid hours are 10-4 for now) and here he was after 5pm giving me advice on fish. Very excited and looking forward to going to the shop tomorrow to check out some fish. I have bought fish and food and shrimp and nerite snails from them over the past few year and have always gotten nothing but great customer service. Very nice people.
This is the oldest continuously running let store in NYC for a reason. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They actually care about the animals they sell and care about the customers they sell them to. They recently did a remodel of the store and added some more space for even more fish! These guys have a great selection of fresh and saltwater. Whether you're a noob or a pro this is the go to place for aquarium enthusiasts!
This place looks nice and has a good selection but they give their African cichlids hormones to promote color and sell female as males. Absolutely horrible. I bought some there and they died so quickly in a well established tank. Their colors faded and one is still alive but it is definitely a female but had beautiful male colors. Would never go there ever again. I drove from Brooklyn to try them out. Stay away at all costs.
The best place for your aquarium needs in NYC, period. They've got everything here- all the supplies you could ever need, a beautiful and healthy selection of fish, and an incredible selection of plants. The staff here are incredibly patient and, most importantly, knowledgeable! They know their stuff. Skip the big box retail pet store and shop here for your aquarium needs. Support amazing local businesses such as this one.
This place was absolutely amazing! They had so many species of plants and fish available, not only that but the customer service was fantastic I was expertly guided through purchasing the correct plants for my aquarium and the person who was helping me treated me more like a friend than a customer; he even advised against certain products that wouldn't do well in my tank. I will definitely be visiting this place again!
I've been in the aquarium hobby for over 40 years. I travel to most of the good aquarium shoppes in the NY /NJ area on a regular basis. But today was my first time ever visiting this store. I was blown away. The store is beautiful. The livestock looks beautiful and healthy. And they have a very diverse selection. I spoke to a few of the employees and they really seem to know their stuff. I can't wait to go back.
Amazing experience! The staff was super knowledgeable, really thorough and easy to talk to. They really love their jobs and they love the fish. We came in wanting to buy a beta fish and they insisted that we had to make sure the tank was set up and prepped before hand. We are really excited about starting our aquarium and we know we have a great resource for plants, fish and advice moving forward.
I came into this store and I was instantly impressed. They're stocked with the best mechendise and great workers. Anita a very kind polish women that works there walked me through all the steps of setting up my new nano planted tropical tank. She explained, demonstrated and recommended everything there was for me to know. Not only that but they have beautiful fish and a great variety of supplies.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Covid precautions are also great to ensure you feel safe. Most notably, they have pre populated coral gardens for $250 that look out if this world. I would have snatched one or two if I weren’t 2500 miles from my tank. A friend, who has a planted freshwater tank, swears by this place for good reason. Thanks to all the staff for being so friendly.
The fish selection is pretty good but be careful if you’re buying. Some of the fish had ich, fin rot, or a swim bladder disease. The plant selection is a little boring and there aren’t too many good pieces of hardscape for smaller tanks. The main takeaway is that the prices are extremely inflated. I bought a item that is originally $17 online and it came down to $28 in store!
If you are into aquariums and/or aquascaping, this place is a dream come true! Many varieties of plants, fish, and other water organisms are available. The staff is super attentive and knowledgeable. I only care about freshwater so I can't speak for saltwater aquariums. If you have aquariums needs, definitely pay a visit! I just wish it wasn't so far from where I live
The staff there is not that very knowledgeable. I went in there for one type of FONNA and when I arrive there after my 2 1/2 hour trip to get to the place, they told me that they didn’t have it, after I called and confirmed of the specific item that I needed, a waste of time and trip. don’t come over here unless you’re absolutely positively sure they got what you want
This place has some serious aquarium inspo- I wanted to build an aquarium even half as amazing as the display aquariums. It’s so lovely to see that they not only sell live plants, but they know how to compose an amazing tank. We bought our betta Jeff here and I feel so inspired by the gorgeous homes they have their fish in. I’ll be back for more plants!!!
I’ve come here multiple times and think this is a fantastic store with helpful staff who are extremely knowledgeable! However!! Call in advance if you plan on getting anywhere between 5:30 - 6pm I’ve come a few times around that time and they’ve closed early - nothing against wanting to finish early. But just call before wasting a trip to the store.
I love this place here on Delancey Street. You get every Educational Material from the staff there that knows her stuff from head to toes. So I'm giving her a Hugh Shout out to this woman who works @ the Aquarium.. Great Job!!! I wished that I knew your actual name so I can add it to this App. Keep up the great work that you're doing...
I was amazed when I walked in. The beautiful selections of fishes and aquarium plus natural plants and sea rocks, I was an awe. The customer service was/is 5 star. The business owner made it so comfortable and even talked to us. I loved it Thank you so much for making the experience a delight I definitely will be going back!!! …
This store is an amazing resource for aquarium hobbyists with wonderful knowledgeable staff members, such as Julie! She guided me around the store, and we had a wonderful chat, while my siblings bought some of their wonderfully cared for plants and aquarium equipment. Everyone in the store is great, and the store itself is also great!!!
This place is a gem in the city, amazing fresh water fish selection, salt water fish and coral selection, and everything you would need to setup a beautiful display tank. And if you don't want to do setup they have prearranged tanks on display for purchase, not to mention every food source, and piece of fishing equipment you might need.
I’ve been visiting this awesome place for 20 years ! I love the staff . Everyone of them is friendly , helpful and Fish smart ! I’ve bought all my fish , plants and aquariums from them . I wish there were more stores like this store / where the people actually care about what they do and it’s a fun cool place to visit ! Check it out !
This is a great place. Lot of fresh and salt water fish to choose from at good prices. They also design tanks, which are super well done. Staff very knowledgeable. If I were starting over with fish, I'd make this place my first and only stop. Some things do cost a little more here but the advice you get is well worth the difference.
I had a good experience at this store. I was explained how to care for a plant that I bought by a woman who tried to find exactly what I need. Just may be a bit noisy and overcrowded. May be a bit overpriced. But other stores that are closer to my place even more expensive. I recommend to check this store out for sure.
Wow. This IS the only place to get all your aquarium related stuff. I needed some pretty specialized algae eating species that no one else had. I went in and the owner Chi was great. Super nice, super knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about aquariums. Place has a huge selection of stuff too. Highly recommended
I bought some pretty expensive fish a couple days ago without knowing they had internal parasites, one of them had already passed and i am currently treating them with Seachem antibiotics and API general cure because they also develop fin rot from the stress of having internal parasites (What I believe).
Absolutely incredible aquarium store. I came in for a full new setup and walked out for less than half of what I expected it to cost. They were even able to help me sort out delivery of the larger parts to my apartment. Particular shoutout to Chi, who took the time to help me find everything I needed.
I live on staten island and it's very limited to what is available for my planted tanks. Getting fish and plants are easy enough but this place has everything required to set yourself up properly. Very helpful staff. I usually go there monthly to stock up or just to see what they have available
I came in for help packing my axolotl for overnight shipping. The staff is super experienced, caring, and went above and beyond helping to make sure my axolotl was gently packaged and protected. They only charged $5 for an insulated box with ice and enough oxygen to last 36 hours. Thank you!!
They are a good store, have a wide variety of fish, plants, decor, tank equipment, and anything you can think of for fish. I guess the only down side is that they are pretty expensive. In my history with fish shopping they are pretty expensive. Other than that they are a great aquatic place!
Just went here for the first time and was blown away. They have a massive amount of stock, a crazy variety of fish/plants, and some beautifully aquascaped tanks. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful and it's obvious that they are very passionate and skilled about what they do.
The only aquarium store I trust, they have been an enormously important resource for me getting into the hobby. You learn quick that most pet stores don’t know anything about anything as far as keeping aquariums but everyone who works here can actually steer you in the right direction.
They came to my office, set up and installed my aquarium with plants and great fish. Super friendly and make aquarium maintenance easy. They even will come to you and clean the tank and trim your plants when needed. A great service if you want a tank but feel overwhelmed by the upkeep.
I love this place and the staff, they really know their stuff and keep the tanks clean and livestock very healthy. It's not my LFS but definitely worth the commute. Be sure to do a hydrogen peroxide dip for the plants before putting them in your tanks though as snails may hitchhike.
This is a half decent store for saltwater fish. The freshwater section is much better. The tanks can be dirty at times and the fish sometimes look lethargic and sick. Other times everything looks great. The prices are decent on dry goods and you can haggle a little if you pay cash.
We always go here to buy frozen fish food for our aquariums. They offer a wide variety and it’s usually reasonably priced. The owners of the store and the employees/volunteers are also pleasant, being always very helpful, in making recommendations and offering valuable advice.
Very friendly and experienced staff, they have a big variety of salt and freshwater fish , plants Rocks wood etc. Everything you need for the aquarium hobby We are in need of more stores like this in Nyc worth the trip from the Bronx this is my 2nd time going to this store
I like this place. They have been updating the layout and tank setups to have the place looking fresh. Good spot for a variety of tropical fish and plants for planted tanks. They have a good amount of salt water things too but I'm not familiar with that side of the hobby.
Absolutely the best fish store I've ever been to. From the helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff to the wide selection of plants, fish, rocks and everything in between. It is easily my first thought when I think about getting a fish or some more additions to my tank.
Their selection of fresh water, salt water and live plants are great. Beautiful tropical fish. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are decent. If this is your thing or looking to start a new hobby this is the place. They also have some awesome tanks.
Great fish store. Maybe not everyone that works there is a fish expert, but once you get someone else there: great customer service. Got free plant just because I was curious. Very friendly staff, beautiful tanks for display! Fish and plants look healthy.
Love coming here and shopping local. The staff are very knowledgeable and care deeply for the hobby. It’s a little out of the way for me, but I choose Pacific Aquarium over any of the other aquarium shops in NYC (and definitely not the big box shops!).
They overcharged me by nearly double, I only noticed till after I was skeptical about what they gave me. They also put the wrong livestock in my order. I wouldn't shop here again - I don't think they know their stuff or are trustworthy at all.
This store had a wide variety of fish and invertebrates and a wide variety of decor, water additives, and more, too. I was impressed by all the drift wood they had and the fact that they had a pond for the koi fish (unlike most pet stores)
I’m a beginner with aquariums. I bought a 10 gallon tank last August and have filled it with plants and fish sold at pacific aquariums. The tank is doing great a year later and the fish all seem pretty relaxed. I really like this store and
Best aquatic designs shop in the eastern USA. Especially if you love freshwater planted aquaria like I do. Lots of good quality plants. Prices good too. Support this gem rather than buy online. A nice place to browse. Helpful people too...
Looked like a nice store (although a good amount of fish were dead or ill/dying.. but that is to be expected in every store) but we purchased a fish that died the next day and sparked a chain of disease and death among my fish, one or two
Great place for fish! It’s huge with a big selection. The little fountain in the front is cool. I’ve been here a couple times and it always seems packed so it can be tricky to get a workers attention. They’re friendly and knowledgeable
Store has a cool LFS vibe. Friendly and helpful staff. I came here for the goldfish and will only be commenting on goldfishes. I was kinda disappointed with the gold fish tanks. Majority of the goldfish didn't look to good. Although I
This store is quite large compared to other aquarium stores. They have a large variety of fresh water and salt water fishes and possibly all the equipment on the market for your needs, their employees are very knowledgeable and always
The most comprehensive aquarium shop in NYC. Open until 7. The worker there are very knowledgable on all things fish related and very helpful as well as courteous. The prices are higher but u get supreme commissioner service with it.
Super knowledgeable and helpful staff. Very patient with dumb questions. Fixed a stubborn green algae problem in my new nano tank. Fish seem reasonably priced, light was $56 which gave me a bit of sticker shock.
Got my first betta sorority, and everything I needed to get started. Here is the temporary tank while I cycle the new tank. Team at Pacific Aquarium is always super helpful and I got advice how to get started.
Don’t let the unassuming entrance fool you, this is a huge aquarium store with an extensive plumbing system that’s been running for 30 years. Lots of expertise, a place where serious hobbyists will be at home.
Amazing staff. Very knowledgeable for the most part. Great service. They really care about the fish and don’t just try to sell you on them. It’s a real experience compared to a franchise fish shop or pet store
I've been shopping here for years. It's a small family owned type of shop, not commercial at all. Great prices, and Staff is very very knowledgeable. My fish tanks are always thriving after dealing with them.
Staff very helpful willing to help and answer questions. They saved my Yucatan Molly's and other fish with advice. Good prices on fish food. Store follow COVID safety. And has alot of options and plants.
The place is beautiful. If you're looking to do some aquascaping, they have some nice resources and plants to help your scapes. In addition, the stock is healthy and there's a wide selection of fish.
Update on my neon tetras: one of them now have ich and I’m treating it. I got neon tetras to replace my dead sick glofish who had ich too so now it passed on to my other glo fishes..... very upset.
Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wide array of all things aquarium-related. Some really awesome live plants and tank setups. I highly recommend a visit -- even if it just to browse.
I usually shop online, but I wanted to browse in person. I’m glad I did, the staff was friendly, the selection of plants, shrimp, and fish were healthy, and I left very satisfied. Thanks guys!
This place is AMAZING. Really cool shop to explore- everything you need for fresh or saltwater tanks. The best part, however, is the staff. They are unbelievably friendly and knowledgable.
Really great staff, educated and knows what they’re doing. I always ask for advice and they never disappoint. Great selection of snails and shrimps. I love the wood and rocks they’re too.
Great variety, prices are a bit higher than other places but I love that they have many options to choose from. I wish they could put a little more info about each fish besides the name.
Wonderful customer service and etiquette. Incredible selection of fish and exotic aquarium animals. Also they have fresh fishing bait and a varied assortment of fishing gear and tackle.
Great variety, educated and helpful staff, everything looks clean and well cared for. They pack a lot into a small space. Please go here for your aquarium needs. They actually care.
Big selection of fish and plants for freshwater fish. There is a large about of saltwater too, but I'm not as familiar with it. Free water testing is super nice as well.
Livebearers always end up having some form of parasites each time I buy from here. It’s disheartening seeing all my fishes new and old fishes die off after new additions
Clean, well organized, fish are well taken and stocked, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great store and great staff. Large selection or guppies - female and male.
Me and my boy come hereat least one a week for some supplies and more. The store is nicely stocked and the workers are very helpful at recommending what I need.
Great selection of freshwater and saltwater fish. The staff is very knowledgeable about fishkeeping, and had no problem helping me. Come here instead of Petco.
Such a cool shop! They have a few small tanks in there that look amazing and their water plant selection is great! Wish I lived in New York to buy from here.
This place has been around for about 30 years or so... I highly recommend it, they have and maintain the healthiest fish in NYC compared to any shop around.
