Papi Bar, where do I even begin? Let's just say it's a place where dreams come true, and your wallet cries itself to sleep. But fear not, my friends, because hidden behind that hefty $20 entrance fee lies a world of untapped potential and maybe, just maybe, some "special guests" who may or may not grace your presence. First of all, let's talk about the atmosphere. As you walk in, you're greeted by an intoxicating mix of sweat, spilled drinks, and the unmistakable scent of broken dreams. Truly a feast for the senses! The dimly lit room adds an air of mystery, making you wonder if you'll stumble upon a hidden treasure or a five-dollar bill someone dropped while trying to escape the hypnotic beats of Pitbull. Now, let's move on to the "special guests." Ah, the excitement! The thrill of anticipation! Will it be a forgotten '90s pop star attempting a comeback? Or perhaps a famous mime with a mysterious allure? Well, let me tell you, the "special guests" at Papi Bar are about as special as a two-for-one coupon for a day-old hot dog. But hey, they might just surprise you! Just don't hold your breath or anything. Now, let's address the elephant in the room: the price tag. Twenty whole dollars, my friends! That's like, three fancy coffees or a lifetime supply of dollar store party hats. Is it worth it? Well, if you have money to burn and a desperate need to witness mediocrity in its purest form, then sure, why not? But be warned, you might find yourself questioning all your life choices as you dig deep into your pockets. But hey, it's not all doom and gloom at Papi Bar. The drinks are reasonably priced if you consider selling a kidney to afford them reasonable and like martinis on tap. And the staff, bless their overworked souls, do their best to keep the illusion of grandeur alive. Just don't ask them too many questions about the "special guests" or you might see a twinkle of regret in their eyes. In conclusion, Papi Bar is an experience unlike any other. From the questionable ambiance to the elusive "special guests" and the delightfully expensive drinks, it's a rollercoaster ride of emotions and empty pockets. So gather your friends, prepare for disappointment, and embrace the chaos. And remember, sometimes the best memories are made when you're laughing at life's little absurdities, $20 at a time.

We went for the opening night in December and it was okay, pretty overcrowded, and the crowd had to demand reggaeton from the DJ. They also had (probably illegal) fire works that were hitting the sprinkler bibs and they had a fog machine that started around 1am that filled the club with awful smoke that gave my friend an asthma attack which she could have died from. Taco restaurant staff were unhelpful and pretty rude honestly, the only way to get them was to try and find a server, but tables and such were not explained and we could not eat at all. The coat room was more than half full of building materials and tools and those poor girls working had to dodge around all of them. The mixed margarita drink was okay but it was premixed and came out of the bar hose thing which was disappointing. Skipping forward to last night when we tried to get in. We were on the guest list, but waited 40 mins in the -20°. The line was not moving, and the only heater options were right by the door unfortunately. Despite one of my friends talking to a bouncer about the general admission line and us paying a cover, only after all of us (15+ people) had moved to other line were we told that that was only for bottle service and were rudely told that we wouldn't be able to afford the last table at $1000 and that we were making up that my friend spoke to a bouncer. Luckily we were able to warm up at the near by Ramada because some of my friends had the start of frostbite. Really disappointed both times honestly which sucks because the venue is pretty beautiful for a club.

Cover charge scam Went there for the first time this past Saturday with my 5 friends. Girls pay $10 cover and guys $15. I paid with $20 cash and the girl just gives me a $5 back so I ask her where is the rest of my change and she fake apologizes “sorry I charged you as a guy” and gave me the rest of my change. Then once downstairs in coat check ($4) I tell my group about this and my one friend who paid cash had the same thing happen but didn’t know girls were cheaper so she didn’t ask for her change back! Once she went back up the girl gave her attitude and was “I don’t remember you”. Even tho we had talked to her less than 5 minutes prior. Not impressed at all with the door girls. Overall the music was good but really loud, and the place was uncomfortably full. Left after a couple hours and probably I’ll stick with other bars because of the cover scamming. Happened to 2/5 of us so I can only imagine how many more times they pulled that during the night.

I mean it’s alright but definitely not a club I’d see myself going back to again. Music was so loud my friends had problems the next day with hearing properly! Food was okay but definitely not worth $18 for 3 tacos. Bottle service was a nightmare, I came with 7 people and a couple more friends were coming, we walked over to the table and saw it was a table for 2 hahaha I told them I’m not paying for that so we just hit the dance floor instead. For a new place I understand they have stuff to work on and get right but I’m not gonna be coming back for awhile. they had pipes leaking from the ceiling already as well. Gonna be rating this place 4/10! They definitely have a lot to work on.

First time at papis for a friend's birthday. Didnt get any of the birthday perks because we were waiting in line for so long (apparently you have to be there before 10pm but maybe the reservations werent made properly??). Very strange that they make men and women go in different lines and they feel up the men. What makes them think women or non binary ppl arent packing??! I've never been to a club with so many older men just lurking by themselves. Dance floors are way too small with too many people. The womens bathroom was packed with 30 ladies just chillin. DJ's were ok but not great. Won't be back lol, Calgary has much better vibes!

I usually recommend this place BUT after tonight I would never again. The reviews on how horrible the bouncers are is true. I’ve never been so roughly grabbed and yanked by a bouncer or any one in that matter and kicked out without reasoning. I was completely sober, left confused, in shock and scared. I’ll never come back after being treated this way. Bouncers are a complete mess, people formed a third line in the middle of entry/ re entry and they got in before everyone in the entry line. A group in front of us had bottle service and refused to allow them in (they ended up leaving after waiting almost an hour)

I've been to Papis multiple only times to be aggrandized by the multiple staff who I haven't multiple in the slightest who have multiple for being a queer man. I have followed all requirements to be at this establishment multiple times and it's genuinely discriminatory. I don't understand how businesses like this can proliferate given substandard homophobic business practices. I try my absolute hardest to objectively review the businesses we have in our area but owners pray on the vulnerability and willingness many business owners have to trust others to provide quality service to them. I hope you all rot.

Club for new 18 yr old clubbers with girls in dresses with sneakers lmaoo omg ppl dont know how to dress to go club anymore...& I mean music is good but not accomodating for crowds older than 25yrs. Bouncers should alternate with the ppl's ages in line-ups they let in to be fair & keep in mind young clubbers will always find the next new club & then one day, your club will be forgotten & dead... see, should have accomdated everyone right ? & get picky with the club attire for one please.. seriously I don't recommended this club until things change to be fair & not fill it with youngsters.

Everyone makes mistakes. Except at Papi, apparently according to the management. So basically I tipped double the bill because most machines I've dealt with gives you the total amount after you enter the tip. I tried to explain to the manager but he straight up shut me up without listening. Needless to say, it is questionable management. I gave them the opportunity to resolve this in their favor, but they would rather take one night's money over loyalty. That says enough. Oh yeah, and get some AC. Edit: I didn't want to write this review but the manager basically dared me.

This place needs new management. We stood outside in the line for an hour after we asked how long the wait was and the security said 20mins. NEWFLASH!!! You’re in Calgary, you will never be a club in miami so don’t make Miami rules for Calgary, cause the guests are gonna be so disappointed when they stow into this establishment. They let the reentry people in first which makes no sense because they’ve experienced the club already. There’s no cooling and me and my friends were constantly gropped. Again it would make sense if it was Miami, but you’re in Alberta.

I thought I would go out and have a night out with some friends. They suggested going to Papi because one of them had heard it was a good time. This girl at the door was so rude! I had to ask another staff member her name. They said her name is Charlotte, well I don't think they should have people like her working because she sounded like she has racial preferences if you know what I mean! I get ur mommy and daddy "own " the place but learn to treat EVERYONE with respect. We surely will not be back. Hispanics don't seem to be appreciated at this place.

This club was so good to me and my friends when one of my friends drank too much. They helped us by calling an uber for her, bringing us water bottles and a garbage bag for her to throw up in, and making sure that no one harassed us while we were waiting for her uber. *Be aware of the club's dress code* - some of my friends were turned away because they didn't meet it. Definitely felt safe as a woman. Not necessarily my type of music but that's ok.

I came here for a birthday party with my friends. I showed them my id that i had from india (which worked all over in calgary for clubs ) but the security guy denied my entry even though i showed him my credit card that had my name on it and also showed him my passport that i had in my phone . It seemed to me like they aren’t professional and doesn’t have the experience to solve the problem. Ruined my day never gonna go again here .

I went to Papi Calgary for a University of Calgary Frosh event. I was at the club from 10:30-11:30 pm when I was kicked out for sitting on a first floor window sill trying to get some fresh air. I got no warning and I was relatively sober after taking care of my friend for the previous hour (he was also kicked out). The music choice was below par and the drinks were expensive. Not going to be going there again for a long while.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! The bouncers assaulted me and shoved my wife to the ground while sofocating her when we tried to go back for our jackets. The abusive use of force show how bad prepared these people to do their job. I had the same problem before with the bouncers at this place some time ago so seems like the club is negligent with all the statements of clients reporting the same abuse. DO NOT TRY THIS PLACE.

  • Anastasia Laporte

Amazing staff, the atmosphere was great. I like how there is an option to go to the club Pablo’s downstairs as well for a different vibe. The bottle service girls are amazing as well, I had the pleasure of having Sophia as my service and she took care of my group & I amazingly the whole night and always checked on us to see if we needed anything. Very friendly & inviting. Will definitely be back

  • Marco Gee

Papi kinda sucks now. At first it was cool but the more you go the more you hate it. First its hot af. Second the layout is dumb. 70% of the space in the club is vip section and it has been empty the last couple of times. Third the Dance floor is small. Forth the djs kinda suck l and they play the same club anthems, songs and mixes everytime i have gone.

If you have a special event like a bachelorette party, DONT WAIST YOUR NIGHT HERE!! Got kicked out for simply going outside the bar to smoke. I was there for less than 30min before I was not able to be let in. Thank God I have real friends that left with me.. wish I could give this place a lower rating. #badservice #badsecurity #badexperience

  • Mariana Ramirez

I was with some friends when one of my friends was going to return for her husband's jacket, this without having left the bar and one of the security people pushed her bitterly and unnecessarily. In addition to this, they hit her husband and almost suffocated her. To make matters worse, they did not want to return the jacket.

  • Cesar Balestrini

The bouncers were incredibly impolite and overly aggressive. When my cousin handed over his Mexican passport as his identification, he didn't even need to say a word before the bouncer abruptly judged him as being too drunk to enter. Discriminate against men, and are only polite to women.

  • R

Went here and talk about bad management. The line took us 2 hours to get in to a barely busy dance floor which is tiny as other reviewers mentioned. The cover charges are different if you're male or female. Honestly, skip this place, the hype is not worth it as it's a big disappointment

  • Maryam Ahmadi

Went there for Blanco Latin party, and it was sooooo good! The staff and the bouncers were good, music was amazing, I believe the entire front window was open which helped with air circulation. Danced all night. Went out a couple of times and came right back in with no issue.

  • Danny Munter

(Videos seizure Warning) Fun place, not overly big, but the "gold room" gets you some solid private space. The tacos and nachos are better than a good amount of restaurants that I've been to (maybe just really drunk). Staff are really friendly, and bouncers do a solid job

  • Richard Vanegas

It’s a shame this place is a representative of the Latin night scene in Calgary. The staff and security all suck. The clientele this place attracts is some of the most lowlife in this city. It’s overpriced and pretentious. Pretty much L’s around LOL

  • K D

Went here on Saturday with a friend, drinks are way to overpriced and the bartender was so stuck up and rude. I told her I wanted a corona and she recommended a different beer and told her I’ll take it, right away I told her I didn’t like

I recently visited the "Papi" nightclub and had mixed feelings about my experience. While the music, staff, and bartenders contributed positively to the atmosphere, the bouncers' behavior left a lasting negative impression. Their rude and

Hello I went to papis because I have never been and was extremely disappointed to say the least, the service was slow, we had a girl named Charlotte bring us to our table and she’s was very rude and seemed to not know what she was doing

Occupancy regulations? This club has never heard of it. Clients are packed in (good luck in an emergency situation) being charged double for one beverage by the tall male bartender (I see what your doing) tip system starts at 20% (poor

Seriously the most fun I’ve ever had! If you are travelling and visiting Calgary you MUST come here. If you are a local, there is no place like it!!! If you want a drink the bar has delicious margaritas. The bottle service options are

This place is just okay. The music is great but the second time I went it was the exact same setlist. Bouncers are rude for no reason and cover for guys is twice as much as it is for girls. The dance floor is A LOT smaller than their

paid more than $500 for section weeks ago and i still cannot get over the fact that even though we said we needed enough room for 7 people they only had enough sitting space for 2 lol. not coming back

  • Sameer Remtulla

Great music the only issue I had was we got bottle service but the girl would take forever to come back to pour us more drinks. We would be waiting forever and had to flag her down all the time

  • Katrina Lucyk

Had my birthday party here last weekend, it was great! Fun dance music, friendly staff, a taco mascot.... What's not to love! I'll have to come back to try a Margarita next time!

  • Al Chan

Bottle service we had here for a friend's birthday party was amazing! Staff were awesome and the music playing was all hip hop! Great ambience lighting effects!

  • wendy Alvarado

Great latino dancing club, If you get there early , you won't have to wait for in a long line. Downstairs offers a taco stand for when u get hungry.

  • Shannon Hunter

Checked this place out on a Saturday. About 20 years too late. Very young crowd. Did like the setup, kind of a cool vibe. Not quite my cup of tea.

  • David Escobar

It was a great time! Djs and staff were amazing! This has got to be the best club in town with Spanish music downstairs and top 40 upstairs

  • jason vankampen

Time for some constructive criticism! So a bunch of friends and I had reserved "the gold room" for a birthday
