I love this little coffee shop. Mornings can be slow and crabby for lots of folks, but the staff here always manages to put on a smile for my bad jokes and my foggy morning brain. They learn your usual, they try to accommodate you as best they can, they’ll even pull out a coffee tasting chart to help you understand the world of coffee! Now as for the coffee, while I can’t say their cortados are the best I’ve had, I can very confidently say their regular coffee, americanos, espressos, are the best in the neighborhood. I even feel like their bagged beans make my at-home coffee attempts taste just a little bit more like coffee shop magic. Thanks guys, you’re the best!

I always see a space on the street in the mornings so it shouldn’t be too tough to find a street parking spot nearby, or throw your hazards on like MANY others while you run in to grab your morning fuel ◡̈
Kid-friendliness
Seating indoors and outdoors in the back yard, easy to sip on a coffee while your child devours a pastry.

**Read the bad reviews before going ** After reading all the one star reviews and realizing several people felt the same F customers energy, I feel way less bad about leaving my review. I don’t leave reviews, but this was memorably bad. Very aesthetic place, if you’re here for photos and to not enjoy your breakfast or coffee then you’re in the right place! Just be aware no substitutions at all to the menu. Couldn’t take something out of an order, also couldn’t add anything on ?? We ordered a double espresso (that came out the size of a single and got an exasperated look when clarifying if it was in fact a double) and a black coffee after being told a hazelnut latte wasn’t possible and only seasonal flavors are available. Also ordered two avocado toasts with eggs after being told no subs to the BEC, there was some miscommunication because only one avocado toast came out with eggs. Overall extremely disappointed and will 100% never return, we took a chance going to a place in queens. The attitude in the service industry has had a big shift over the last few years, hoping we walked in on an off day for the sake of the rest of the customers who come here. 45$ later still hungry and in need of another cup of coffee

Pretty good coffee, great coffee for the area. They change out the coffee every once in a while so if you go frequently you can try a bunch of coffees from different regions, and you can be assured whatever you're getting is decent or better quality, meaning if you don't like a region of coffee here you really don't like it, not like "Oh, I'm not sure because idk if this is good coffee from here or not". Here, it is. Also, pretzel bun breakfast sandwich is fire. It sells out early sometimes [pre 11].

Oat milk and alt milks are options. If you're vegan, check the chocolate drinks to see if they use a vegan chocolate or a milk chocolate sauce.

I went in today to get iced lattes and the lattes looked like just almond milk with little to no coffee. I asked the barista politely if we could get more coffee in the drinks since there was too much milk and she very rudely told me I would have to pay extra for espresso and this was a standard latte (it wasn't) and that I should have ordered something else if I wanted it to be darker. I have gotten SEVERAL lattes from this location and I can say for a fact this was not "standard" by any means if it was the color of milk. We came back in after confirming that the lattes tasted like straight up milk and asked the barista once more if she could re-make the drinks this time. She very rudely agreed and gave us an attitude the entire time while re-making the drink. I was very disappointed to receive this level of poor customer service from a neighborhood location.

Wanna know what you WON'T get here? Paper straws. You heard it right... No woke paper straws to melt into your what-would-have-been delicious beverage. Not here! Just incredibly friendly folks making sure you get exactly what you want... And if you want absolutely delicious coffee in an awesome setting you better get your heinie in here! The building itself is cool as hell... All old brick, several stories tall with original wood rafters and accents... It has the feel of an old warehouse but with a welcoming, modern coffee shop inside. Out back is nature. Yeah, in NYC... N-A-T-U-R-E. Best believe it, it's a great spot to relax with your beverage and get off the street to see some greenery! The coffee is phenomenal, the people are phenomenal, and the surroundings are phenomenal. Just go. You won't be disappointed.

I live nearby and I’ve visited three times and every time they forget my order and I end up waiting 10-20 minutes. The baristas work pretty slowly and are quite rude. The coffee is good but it’s not worth the hassle. The most recent time, when they finally called my drink they yelled at me after I grabbed it and gave it to someone that ordered the same drink after me. They were really rude about it and everyone turned and looked at me weird. Then they asked me what I ordered and said “oh sorry guess we might have forgotten”. They also never give you a full cup, there is always empty space left for more coffee definitely do not recommend this place if you want to have a good day and your coffee quickly

I'm lucky to have Toby's estate near both my home and my work place, and honestly they serve the best coffee, be it the espresso based drinks or the drop coffees. The prices are maybe a little high for coffee but this is pretty much the price you pay for coffee everywhere in NYC now. Another great thing about them is that they take being environment friendly seriously. In the Williamsburg location at least, they don't have straws, stirrers and even packets of sugar , just old-school spoons and a container of sugar instead. Some may not like it but I appreciated the commitment and like them more because of it. The only down side to this place is that now I don't want to drink coffee at other places any more, because I know what good coffee is!

Having ordered a vegan roll due to my allergy, I received a roll which didn't look like it had egg. However, it did have egg and I had a reaction to it immediately after consuming it. The serving team accepted they must have given me a roll with egg and casually offered to make another one when they could see I was leaving. I was already suffering a reaction and a new roll would not have made any difference to me. It's really disappointing to see such a popular shop being so careless about people's dietary concerns especially when they're charging such high prices for the food. I wouldn't be ordering any more food here. It is too high a risk to bear.

I live in the neighborhood and came here quite often for their good coffee. However the customer service has gone downhill. My friend was trying to order a sandwich and she asked for To go. The cashier who is wearing a yellow t-shirt specifically told her that everything is to go but we saw people sitting down with their coffee and food on the table. I keep thinking maybe it will get better but today we were disappointed again. We didn’t even get a hello or welcome. Since when do businesses not appreciate their customers ? There are so many other good coffee shops near by like sweet leaf and no stress coffee that you can get a smile when you are buying your coffee. Will Never come back here again!

Partners Coffee is a nice and affordable cafe that has been around for a long time and is one of the oldest cafes in LIC. I used to come here a lot when it was the only cafe in the area, but now I find myself frequenting other newer, more Instagrammable cafes. However, Partners Coffee still holds a special place in my heart. The coffee is always delicious and the staff is friendly. With so many new cafes opening up lately, I think Partners Coffee could benefit from more creative offerings to attract more people. But overall, it's a great spot to grab a quick coffee or to spend some time catching up with friends.

We came here almost every day of our stay in LIC! Such a fun, cool atmosphere and the coffee is spot on The food they serve is great too I tried a few different items and they make chocolate chip cookies in house. Very attentive staff and polite! We came from Charleston SC and one of the staff members told us abt a great dinner spot to try and we went and we’re not disappointed! Thanks

Very good coffee and very nice atmosphere. The courtyard area is beautiful. I think they should offer a larger sized cold brew, they only offer what would be a medium at most coffee places. I had a bad experience with one of the workers when I asked for skim milk. He refused to answer and told me to use the 2% on the counter. I had to ask him more than once if they had any skim milk for him to say NO with an attitude. So that was weird. Overall it is worth visiting for the great atmosphere and high quality coffee, but I prefer Birch or The Mill which are also in the neighborhood.

  • Shawn P

Food is always good. It comes out rather quickly. Don't expect a warm friendly greeting though. Pretty no nonsense staff. The atmosphere is good. Always alot of computers inside. They could definitely do more with the space they have (ie more tables/smaller tables, etc). Outside is a great space with plenty of seating. Overall, recommend. I go there somewhat regularly.

Great coffee Overpriced food Awful service Response to Owner: Thank you for responding and please do! I live really close and would love stop in more often, but it often takes 15-20 minutes for one drink, almost irrespective of how busy it is. Ive tried to order online to avoid the wait, but each time the order wasn’t ready til 20+ mins after the end of range for the stated time. Most employees are nice but their communication is lacking and everything takes forever. Anyway great products and cool space hope to change this to 5 stars in the future!

  • Maxwel Corpuz

Rude barista. She bluntly told me “It has your name on it,” when I hesitated at the counter. I have poor vision and didn’t want to grab the wrong sandwich. I had to delicately look around multiple sandwiches for the tiny receipt with my name on it. As she watched me struggle behind the counter, she pulled her mask down and took a shot of espresso and continued on. Food and coffee was average. The vibe was bad and my customer experience was bad.

The old Toby's is the new Partners. I've been there under both names - not a huge difference other than the new colorful roast packaging! Excellent coffee and other gastro treats. Check out this scrambled egg & pancetta on a perfect brioche bun - oh, the memory...... Probably one of the best breakfast Sammie's I've ever had! And the coffee is a solid 10+ Comfy place with a small but awesome outdoor courtyard in back. A little more lively than some places due to being right on the Ave, but excellent place to fuel up!

  • Zhong Zheng

Loved this place. First Toby in LIC just opened! My wife and I went to this nice and warm coffee place for Sunday breakfast. Arrived early in the morning so not much guest yet. Stuffs are super friendly. The bagel with butter and strawberry jam is a surprise. Mix of salted butter and strawberry jam with a hint of garlic is just about right. Both of us liked the interior design especially the reclaimed frame and bare walls. There is a small backyard attached with the building that will be open in spring.

  • Wall Fish

Pretty good coffee and great service by pleasant baristas. This part of NYC is such a weird vibe though, I know Partners can’t help that but woweeeee feels like a simulation. I refuse to believe real humans actually live in this “neighborhood”. Location is clean and there are bathrooms. It has plenty of indoor seating with some outdoor seating as well.

I was disappointed by the service during my first visit here. I noticed several people who ordered after me receiving their drinks. When I inquired with the barista, she said she would make my drink immediately, then continued to finish others’ orders in the queue instead. In the end, she never apologized or made my drink (but another barista swapped in and made me my latte). It took me well over 20 minutes to receive my order, so I unfortunately won’t be returning.

  • Matt Mark

So I’ve been here almost 10 times and while it’s really nice to have a Partners in the neighborhood, the employees here don’t really seem to have a soul. Every single time I’ve encountered somebody that seems miserable to be working there with a permanent frown and short, unwelcoming one word replies to menu questions. It’s frustrating as I’ve been to other locations and I’ve started to avoid coming here so the employees don’t kill the mood of an otherwise good day.

  • Derek Ruhlandt

Don't waste your time or money! This place has gone downhill since merging to become "Partners." Prices have gone up, but the coffee selection has gone down. They haven't had decaf cold brew, even tho they keep claiming that it's coming back. Service is hit or miss. The seating inside is limited and uncomfortable; also, since they cook food without proper ventilation, the smell can be unpleasant. Two stars: local coffee and the backyard patio.

  • Isao Yoshino

I like this interior design and there is the back yard. I just ordered drip coffee but I will try food next time.

Coming here was so great! The staff was so friendly. The outdoor patio space was very spacious and inviting. I order a Chai Latte that was tasteful and soothing. Definetly one of my favorite cafe spots especially when it comes to work space. Only downside there aren't usable outlets in store so come prepared with a charged device. Awesome place to meet with friends there are larger picnic like tables available!!

  • Joe Edgar

Great little spot. Very knowledgeable Baristas. I had an excellent espresso, served with sparking water. I am looking forward to trying other items on the menu. The food looked high quality, very appealing aesthetic and plenty of seating. Update: 8.19.17 Love sitting in the open air backyard. It is a very enjoyable addition. The menu is still excellent, various pastries and small plates are available.

  • Maithili Mehta

Good breakfast/brunch fare, and great coffee. I go often as they open early and close late which makes it convenient pre-/post- work. Staff are always friendly and courteous. There is a courtyard with seats out back, which is a great quiet space to work in despite being just off Jackson Avenue. Of note, they are card-only. A single drawback(?) if one can call is that is that there are no plug-points.

  • Nicole Park

Not sure why ppl are complaining so much about service and friendliness. I’ve been so many times (busy and no busy times) and everyone working there has been super friendly accommodating and efficient Never waited an unreasonable time for beverages The coffee is great I always get hot or iced lattes. The breakfast burrito with the chipotle sauce is delicious. The avocado toast w egg is delicious.

  • Adam C

Good coffee isn't worth poor service. The staff is pretty rude. I've seen them yell at a couple walking in with a teacup dog. Been here a couple of times and I do not normally cause a fuss or leave poor reviews but it's been multiple occasions where I've seen them let coffee sit and get cold or yell at customers.

Great location! The back patio was lovely for a late morning breakfast. I got the breakfast sandwich and an oat milk latte. The sandwich was delicious and the brioche bun was buttery and light. The oat milk latte was divine! The coffee was just right and they put just the right amount of ice in my drink. The employees were friendly and funny! Will definitely come back when I visit again.

This place is amazing. I came here for a coffee this past weekend and was surprised how beautiful it is inside. Not only that, but the backyard is so serene and relaxing. The coffee was delicious and honestly not that bad in price compared to other small coffee shops. This place is around the block from me so you bet I'll be coming back! Such an awesome find

5 stars! Coffee throat must visit! Nice coffee: we had americano and it hit my certain level of bitter and smoothness. Can’t wait for the next drink. Location: LIC; dog lover island. Cozy, fine deco and especially backyard surrounded by the skyline building Price: reasonable. Staff: friendly, why coffee person is always be nice? Idk but Me too! Recommended!

Very poor service!!!! I’ve been there twice, never waited so long for a coffee. Funny part, I was the only one in line. Rude staff!!!! I ordered the croissant, it was dried, old. It’s a shame, the place has a nice vibe and it’s just a block from my apartment. But not worth it!

Great location and back yard space. Just bought the new summer drink, but it was 3/4 foam. Asked the baristas if that’s normal and they didn’t seem to know. Tastes great but doesn’t seem to be what’s advertised. I wish I took a before picture, I just stirred the whipped cream and foam and that was what’s left. I suggest ordering from their regular menu.

  • AQN

Ridiculously nice coffee spot in this area. It's not the only way around, but it's one of the nicer ones. There's a lot of space inside and outside, but I can't see the backyard being useful once the winter rolls around. In any case, the coffee and service is great! The food is also very good, but pricey. Come enjoy the ambience and get some work done.

  • K Hat

+ Decent coffee. + Vibes. + Nice green patio - Match is baking grade (yellowish), and thus tastes like chalky dirt. - They charge $6.50 for a match latte that tasts like chalky dirt.* *I'll up my rating if they up their matcha grade to ceremonial.

The coffee shop is well designed and has a great wood exposed structure. The small courtyard in the rear is a great plus and gives you the sense that you are away from the busy streets. We went specifically to try the coffee and didn’t have any food but it looked good in the display case. The coffee had great aroma and was well made.

I didn’t know what rating to give… the coffee, food, and atmosphere here are great! But they don’t open until 7:30, which is way too late for a coffee shop! Starbucks and Sweetleaf are both nearby and open earlier so I end up at one of them instead, even though I’d rather come here. I wish the hours were shifted an hour earlier. :(

  • Ray Bickel

This little coffee shop in Long Island City is the best address for every coffee lover and foodie. Especially, I recommend the foods they offer. So fresh, healthy, and super delicious. There are some other locations in the NY area. But here's the best. The store manager must be excellent here. Many thanks for your great service!

  • Natasha

I ordered on doordash... I got the steel oats and avocado toast. What kind of bread is that sir??? The avocado is soooo good! Plain and delicate. The order took a while I'm assuming due to rush hour. The latte with my double shot got me sailing through the day! I don't usually write reviews but... The order items are great.

  • BigSwiftynAssociates

Exceedingly friendly staff and good atmosphere. Coffee was great and prices are what you would expect, on par with places like Starbucks. I did not sit out in the courtyard but it looked like a nice quiet spot to unwind or get some work done, very cool idea there. Excellent spot for a good cup of coffee, highly recommend.

The place looks very nice but, the service is very slow. They took 20 minutes to make me a espresso tonic and about 15 minutes to make a Matcha latte (mix matcha powder and milk with ice, rocket science out here). The barista takes his sweet time. Would not recommend unless you want a view, the coffee was just okay....

Price on the high end but the drink, food and environment is simply amazing here. Got so many trendy people and love the atmosphere for a simple hanging-out, by myself or with a friend. The coffee sold here is sort like designer coffee - all differ from Starbucks one. Fully support this place.

Always a swell sight to go into a coffee shop and behind you is a pest control merchant of death inspecting the very area you get your food and bean juice from. Aside from that, the coffee is always good, the service is not bad, the food is good, and the ambience is chill. Would visit again

Nice space/patio. Not the friendliest baristas and somehow they always mix up oat and almond milk. Those are the only 2 nondairy milks they offer and they keep mixing them up... how?! What if I had a nut allergy! I enjoy the coffee and the space but some warmth from the staff would be nice.

Great Pour over! I bought whole grain coffee, they have a great variety from all over. I came back three days in a row, their cappuccino is wonderful. Avocado toast great! But the star of the menu is the Burrata toast!! Do not miss it!! It’s a heavenly bite! Great way to start the day.

I stopped by this coffee shop this afternoon and it was amazing. The place is so cute and coffee was great. All the staff were so nice and welcoming. Definitely the best customer survive of this year. …

Regular customer but had a couple bad experiences with one barista. Messed up the order and was rude when confronted. Did the same thing again. I love Partners and go here very often but this behavior is unacceptable.

Great location. Even better coffee. And to top it off, a most hospitable staff. Highly recommend. Also, if you’re not feeling calorie conscious, grab a an egg and cheese sandwich with pancetta on a pretzel roll!

The inside was cute. The outside seating area also cute. The drinks were just okay. We got oat milk lattes and there was just something funny about the drinks. Kinda upsetting when you spent $13 on two drinks.

My favorite spot for oat milk lattes! Great service and consistently good :) They also have a nice indoor and outdoor seating area so great for catching up with friends.

  • Howard

Great coffee option for the area. Strong coffee, friendly and expert barista staff, and airy space. There’s a garden area at the back which is open in warmer weather.

  • Hitesh Sancheti

Good atmosphere and great coffee. Can get very crowded but doesn't feel congested because of high ceilings. Baby and toddler friendly. Good place to just hang out!

Bomb ass built out! The interior is fire and the backyard is super cozy. A great hang out with the quality and knowledgeable baristas you expect from Toby's.

  • Akshay Goel

Their kitchen closes early inconsistently. Would be nice for them to stick to the 2:45 pm time on their menu. Otherwise great place for coffee and a snack.

It was amazing when it was Toby’s, it’s amazing now. Perfect place to get a coffee and outdoor seating.

Lovely coffee. Baked good were yummy though a little bit stale. Brunch food was ok. Wifi wasn't working. Come for the coffee and calming ambience.

One of the best coffee shops in NYC. Have been here for many years since it was still called Tobys. BTW, there is a nice backyard.
