Pat O’Brien’s is an absolutely fabulous, quintessential French Quarter spot EXCEPT for two things that I feel management seems to allow to go on. First, when you buy a hurricane the price of the souvenir glass is included. You can take the glass home or return it for around $3.50 per glass credit. Not everyone knows this. A few servers do not inform guests and cash in the glasses themselves. I also experienced a scam in the piano bar. The server came up as I was leaving and claimed I had not paid. They always collect when they drop off drinks. Keep track! I told the server exactly how much and the tip and I was a local and she apologized and immediately backed off. Such a shame because this is otherwise a fun and great place. There are three bars here. The main bar is great and straight forward. Drink prices are slightly lower here. Next is the piano bar, slightly more expensive drinks but great entertainment. Next is the patio bar, with the fountain. Fun and nice ambiance. Finally there is also a restaurant, which is another separate entity. This is for grabbing a bite and people under 21 years of age are welcome. All are fun, it’s just a shame management doesn’t monitor a few bad apples that take advantage. Otherwise I would have rated five stars easily.

I remembered this place to be more fun when I came the last couple times. We visited on a Friday night around 8:45-9pm. Our group was one of the 3 tables that was probably under 50. It was crowded and the waiters will find your party a seat. However, the seating will not always be comfortable. The tables are not really wiped between parties, so be prepared for that. The waiters were not very patient when waiting for your orders (as we were trying to pull up the menu with the QR code, but service was bad). They have a dueling piano, which is the reason why we always make a visit here. The pianist are typically very skilled and able to get the crowd hyped. However, the ones we had were only so-so. It also depended on what the crowd requests too. They are known for the hurricanes! It’s a delicious drink with rum as the base. Beware it’s pretty sugary, great for people who don’t like the taste of alcohol but still wanna enjoy the night. Don’t get too many, it’ll creep up on you.

My friends and I wanted to walk around and order drinks at the bar, but a waiter named Chris coerced us to sit down. We told him we needed a minute to figure out what to drink, so he HOVERED OVER US THE ENTIRE TIME until we finally ordered. He recommended some hurricane drink that tasted like someone tried to throw a ton of salt into a rum beverage to make it taste like tequila. It was gross. Then when we asked for the check, he pulled his flashlight out while we were singing the receipt. My friend told him he had a flashlight and pulled his phone light to view, but Chris waited for my wife to write out a tip before turning the flashlight out. The whole experience was bizarre as if he was checking that we’d tip him. The second we got up, several patrons walked through without being asked to sit down. We felt a bit targeted and hassled. Please allow your patrons some privacy while they decide what to order and how to pay.

On a friends referral we stopped at pats and ordered the burger and the “special” shrimp creole. We had hurricane drinks while we waited for our food “amazing but strong in a really good way!” They ran out of the creole shrimp and the manager came and asked if gumbo was ok. He and our waitress absolutely made everything perfect and the burger and the gumbo were amazing!!! This place is great and I would totally recommend stopping here and not the rest of the cookie cutter places along that strip. I wish I caught the names of the waitress and the manager but as we do on vacation I was preoccupied. Do yourself a favor stop here and get a hurricane drink and some gumbo. These people do a great job at taking care of you!! By the way I’m not being paid for this review I’m just typing it as I’m enjoying a beer on my balcony on vacation!

We stumbled into Pat O’Brien’s looking for food after a long day of Conferences. They were able to seat us quickly and brought us ice cold waters right away. Their menu is small and mostly ready made, so it’s a great place to go if you’re in need of something quick and authentic. I had the jambalaya and it was very balanced and filling. Another person in our group had the bread pudding and it looked delicious! I also tried their famous Hurricane drink. I appreciate its historical significance and was glad I was able to try it from the source. It is best described as Hi-C Fruit Punch with Bacardi Rum. Not as sweet as it looks and very refreshing on a hot night.

A must go for NOLA-this is the oldest bar in New Orleans. It has so much character with the ceramic beer mugs hanging from the ceiling, the 2 piano room for duels, the history of it-it was formerly an estate. The ladies room is like a club up the spiral staircase with 30s design-the original power room, beautiful tile, couches. This place is huge and an easy place to make friends. The courtyard is stunning at both day and night-we went twice we love it so much. The champagne fountain that lights up and has flames. The bartenders are so nice and funny. The hurricane-classic is delicious. Will definitely be back every time I visit.

On our New Orlean’s French Quarter visit, my little group had to stop by Pat O’Brien’s at 718 St. Peter for its famous Hurricane cocktail. My wife had had the signature drink on her last visit many years ago, so it was time for a return to the drink that has rum in it and looks great in a hurricane glass. The courtyard is a beautiful setting for this experience. We had to have a souvenir hurricane glass from O’Brien’s to take home and the nice thing is that the souvenir glass in its protective box is fairly inexpensive.

As a big fan of tropical drinks like the Hurricane (and of Impractical Jokers), Pat O’Brien’s was one of the top places I wanted to try while visiting New Orleans. And it did not disappoint! The courtyard area is such a great place to kick back with a drink any time of day. The wife and I came here multiple times and it was always a good time. Even with how busy it gets, the service is super efficient and they really know how to keep the Hurricanes flowing The courtyard area is also a great spot to smoke a cigar with your drink of choice if that’s your thing.

We first visited on a Saturday afternoon and could barely get into the courtyard. Getting to the bar was impossible. College aged kids shoulder to shoulder. We left before getting close to having a hurricane. We came back on Sunday night and had the same experience I've had in the past. No overcrowding, easy to find a seat at a table. Fountain was beautiful. Peaceful and relaxing environment. The age of the other patrons was much closer to ours (far from college aged). Timing matters I guess.

Pat O'Brien's was our first stop after arriving in New Orleans to celebrate our Bride-to-be! We enjoyed the beautiful weather in the courtyard and sipped their famous Hurricane.. so tasty! We easily spent a few hours chatting, sipping drinks, and enjoying the place! All bartenders and waitstaff were incredibly friendly and great with suggesting drink choices. The overall feel of the place is laid-back and easy-going (such a nice vibe). And the building is just beautiful (inside and out)! Highly recommend stopping in here!

My wife scored some free beads... that pretty much summed up our Pat O'Brien's experience. I'm so glad we got to visit the birthplace of the Hurricane. It was made very well (and very strong) for under $10. They have a decent food menu to accompany the adult beverage, and we had some wings, gators, oysters, and the boiled brisket. The 3 appetizers were pretty awesome, but we really should have passed on the brisket. Oh well, the 5-star rating is for the Hurricanes, and you can easily grab one from the multiple bars.

Apparently this is one of the places you "have" to go to in New Orleans. For me, meh. People apparently really like the piano bar but that's not really my thing. Jambalaya was acceptable, but over priced for what I got. Eating area where they serve food is relatively small. Definitely go to Cafe du Monde, but don't feel bad if you miss Pat O'Briens.

The food was good but not up to the standards I was expecting given their reputation. Our server was nice but the two appetizers we ordered never came. We sat outdoors and the weather was beautiful. The drinks we had were good and strong. I would recommend and definately go back and give them another try.

Happy birthday, to Pat O'Brien's venue. Great time, music performed by Groovy 7. This band had everyone dancing, on the floor or in their chair's. The staff, from the front doors to the back, are just some of the best in Nola. Will always be a place to hang out, especially for tourists, Pat O's, still making Nola look good.

Tasty food... would have rated higher, yet told it would be upto 25 minute wait, however it was almost an hour. Beautiful courtyard, however we were seated next to the restroom. Staff was friendly and responsive, however lengthy wait for food and drinks. To be fair, this was most likely one of the busiest days of the year.

Only had Hurricanes at the bar. They were excellent. The bartender Missy was very friendly and kind. Enjoyed spending time talking to her and other people at the bar. Missy gave us great places to eat such as Acme Oyster House. I would highly recommend at least going to the bar at Pat O'Brien's.

No food served in entertainment area where the live music is, which is where we sat with 8 people whom wanted dinner and entertainment. Women bathroom in same location is up a flight of stairs. 2 of us couldn't climb stairs so we had a very long walk up and down Stairs with three steps. Not handicap accessible at all. Awesome Singer and piano player.

, No visit to New Orleans is complete, without a visit to this famous drinking establishment establishment. It is the home of the hurricane the New Orleans cocktail that is most famous, the garden area with the flaming fountain is wonderful to sit in, cold weather they have Heaters on that keeps it nice and warm even outside outside. And the piano bar is a lot of fun to watch the show that goes on

I feel like this place is trading on novelty and memory of grander times. The Burger was less than delicious, basic, in fact. The Gumbo was underwhelming, not a lot of the flavors expected in traditional Gumbo. The hurricane was over-rummed, and we couldn't finish it. The wait staff was kind and attentive.

We only tried the hurricane but it was delicious and strong! Hubby couldn't finish his so I did and he had to help me back down the road. I may be a lightweight but a little over 1 was all I needed! Service was fantastic. Friendly, prompt and attentive without hovering. Plus the atmosphere was fun and cozy and the heaters and fans ensured the perfect temperature #kpcsupportssmallbusiness

Legendary bar in the French Quarter. It is a great hangout for perhaps an older crowd. It isn’t rowdy and the drinks are strong. We were in the piano bar and enjoyed ourselves with good music and drinks. Pat O’Brien’s is known for their “Hurricane”. If this is your first trip to NOLA I recommend getting a Hurricane.

The hurricanes live up to their name ... and $12.50 price. The dualing pianos were very good. Too bad Pat O'Briens is closed Mon. and Tues. The outside garden is a delightful place to have a drink in the afternoon. Too bad they no longer sell caps like I purchased 35 years ago (pictured below).

Waitress yelled at my friend at the table. Nobody cleaned our table, We cleaned it ourselves. Nobody gave us silverware, We found silverware ourselves. Jambalaya was dry. Gumbo was tasteless, no seasoning. One plate was forgotten and we had to ask for it. Only thing good was the hurricane Drink. Will never go back.

We always enjoy stopping at Pat O’Brien’s when we’re in New Orleans. This French Quarter staple, known for inventing the hurricane cocktail, makes an awesome variety of local and tropical drinks, besides having a full restaurant attached to the bar areas and patio. The drink prices are reasonable, and the staff are friendly and polite.

  • Darnell Thompson

The Hurricane isn't too sweet which is a good thing with a nice punch to it. Great prices for drinks especially compared to NYC drink prices it's like happy hour lol. The Hurricane will creep up on you after a few. They are served in a plastic cup ready for you to walk outside on Bourbon Street, which you can do which is a thumbs up.

  • Doug S

Kinda quiet on a Wednesday night but always a great place to hang out when in NOLA. I was surprised a lot of younger people I mentioned it to had never heard of it. A legendary part of New Orleans and I believe the original dueling pianos place; I think that goes back several decades, at least to the 70's, probably well before then.

  • Mark Fraizer

A tourist spot that in my opinion is the most fun spot in New Orleans! We went for the Hurricanes and the piano bar, which I have been to many times and it has never disappointed. They will play just about anything you request, it is lively and just a great place to have drinks. If I’m in New Orleans again I will be sure to visit!

  • Thomas Cipas

Home to the original hurricane drink, my friends and I came here for the drinks and stayed for the atmosphere and service. The open area in the back is the perfect spot to hang out and relax. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the city.

Famous one in French quarter. Rapid service and reasonably quiet for being in middle of action. 2 hurricane drinks and my brain was done (not sure how they get this high alcohol content at $9). They’ve reduced their food menu post pandemic so eat before you go there expecting food.

  • Kelia

Crazy lively spot for a drink. They have a fire, water fountain out back!! Plenty of people there. I ordered the famous, The Hurricane drink, which tasted like spiked fruit punch. I like sweet drinks so I finished it all. The interior is dark but the outdoor back area is lit up.

  • Jeremy Miller

Quite the busy spot - even on a Thursday. Lots of young adults. Plenty foreigners. The Irish bar brings everyone together I suppose! There was a cool spacious courtyard that is fun for grabbing drinks w a big group. Drink prices aren’t terrible here either. Worth a stop.

  • Billy Smerka Jr.

Did you actually go to New Orleans if you didn't have a hurricane? Probably not. Pat O'Briens is an icon with a courtyard that still amazes me every trip. It was 75 degrees and sunny, the glass was frosted and the drink is still handmade. #Awesome
