The Delhi High Court was run from here earlier and from 1978, it is the District court. As the population of Delhi grew, in March 1997 Patiala House was converted to become one of three court complexes in the city, after criminal courts from Parliament Street were shifted here. In 2001, 54 judges were stationed at Patiala House Courts, which have jurisdiction over the New Delhi, South Delhi and South West Delhi districts.

This Patila house house court in in Delhi High court premise and has several gates to enter. There are many food joints are available inside too. There are touts outside of the gate which may ask you to help you or unnecessary will approach you to help. Beware of them and also take help, if needed, by approaching the Police or Guard or Advocate inside. There are many courts in one building and is numbered, so better to keep asking to people inside, in case you are not getting the right one. Patiala house court is a dostrict court. Jurisdiction of NDMC area lies under this court. It is located 5 minutes from India gate and the Supreme Court on barakhamba road. A huge complex with more than 20 moot rooms and parking with a clean canteen and library.

The court is small and congested. There are some canteens, which are not hygienic. At the back of the court there is good reasonable canteen, where they serve very politely. For me the best part of the court is CCD beside security check.

It's a small court complex and wasn't designedbto be a court complex, so it's a bit congested and arranged in a sort of haphazard manner, but on the other hand it's compact and easy to get around once one is familiar with the layout

Every thing in this organisation is well streamlined. Parking place is a bit of a problem. One needs to be careful when dealing with advocates, they can fleece you financially.
