As I told John yesterday after purchasing a turntable from his store, that was the most pleasant retail experience I can remember having. I stopped into his shop as a novice, having done a little research and knowing not too much more than that I wanted to purchase a turntable. He treated me with genuine kindess and took great care to make sure I left with the product that was right for me. We sat and listened to records on a few different tables in a couple of different rooms and he thoroughly explained what was accounting for the varying sound qualities produced by each. I got the impression that he would have gladly spent all day discussing his passion with me if I'd had the time. He also hooked me up with a free red felt mat when I told him it was my birthday. John comes accross as a laid back and thoughtful fellow music lover - not at all a pushy salesman. I will most certainly be back when it's time to upgrade other elements of my home system. Amazing selection... and even better customer service! Connor and Russ were both world-class when it came to friendliness and assistance. Not only were they very friendly AND helpful with my initial purchase (Connor looked up my specific speakers and let me know that I was going to need a phono preamp... so, that was already one extra trip he saved me!), but there was a manufacturer's defect with my turntable... and they were both incredibly fast in their response to my emailed inquiry AND made available a solution that was easy & seamless for me. Do you want to know why you buy from a local brick & mortar establishment rather than from an online vendor? I cannot think of a better example to give you than Pearl Audio.

I went there with particular purchasing goals in mind. There were two listening rooms of different size, pretty well setup. I spent quite some time auditioning different speakers. When John saw how desperate I was and after listening to my desires and arguments... he gave me a pointer to another store and particular speakers that he thought might be a better fit for my requirements. He was right on the spot! Instead of trying to hard-sell his stuff to me, John provided an advice that proved to be worth a lot! Pearl Audio did not sell me anything this time, but they earned a loyal customer till the end of times, they will be the first one I go to for my next audio gear!

Great experience buying some high-end equipment from them. Turns out the unit I bought (sealed in original box) was DOA. They went out of their way to make sure I straight away got one of their demo units as a loaner until new stock was received. Connor took customer service to an outstanding level, responding to mails within minutes even on the weekend or evenings as we were establishing the unit was indeed faulty and sorting out the loaner until a new unit was available. The high-end stuff they are selling isn't cheap, but you certainly get the customer service and support that matches the price tags. Highly recommended.

* I bought a McIntosh AV receiver and amp in 2007 in San Francisco as part of a stereo including B&W 805 speakers and a Sunfire subwoofer. * This system sounded fantastic. * I kept in touch with McIntosh products and developments over the years. * When it came time to upgrade my components, I looked up my local McIntosh distributors in Portland, OR, and Pearl Audio Video came up. * My experience with Conner and Pearl has been FANTASTIC. * Conner worked closely with me to ensure that the sound I got was exactly what I was looking for. * I recommend Conner and Pearl fully and completely - it's great to have them in Portland.

I traveled down from Seattle on two trips to listen to some gear not available in my town, and probably spent 10 hours total in the store listening and talking. Great little store, great guys with good advice and good experience. They were very helpful, happy to change gear around to compare, low pressure and let the gear speak for itself. They clearly love what they do. Even though some of the gear I listened to was available in my town, they recommended I buy it from my local dealer instead of trying to undercut them, which speaks volumes. All in all, a very positive and professional interaction!

Pearl Audio Video leans heavily toward the audio side of the home entertainment spectrum, and they do a spectacular job of it. Pretty much everything they carry is an aspirational brand, - you could most likely be happy with anything in the store. Part of their service oriented business model is hosting informative presentations from manufacturers - a great way to learn what's new. If you're fortunate enough to be able to consider brands like Magnepan, McIntosh, Linn, Sonus Faber, Magico, or Dynaudio, you owe it to yourself to visit the folks at Pearl.

The product selection and product knowledge at Pearl Audio is phenomenal. They never tried to upsell me, just provided information and recommendations that suited my wants and needs. This would have been enough for me to leave a positive review, but after the purchase, the customer service I received from Connor and team blew me away. They went above and beyond to ensure a positive experience for me The prompt communication, and solutions they provided was exemplary. Thanks so much Pearl Audio!

If the owner or manager responds, I'll change this. The store clerk today was extremely rude and unhelpful. I'm not sure if his issue was racist or classist, but it was very unwelcoming. Literally stood in my way and asked what I wanted without answering any of my questions UPDATE: I spoke with the manager. He offered an apology and a one on one conversation but still failed to answer my simply questions. I was not satisfied. But I'll give two more stars for a response and apology.

Went to buy my dream system and sure enough Pearl delivered. I finally did a complete home theater with McIntosh and Bowers and Wilkins. When I thought I knew what I wanted, I finally contacted Pearl and a gentleman named Connor came to my rescue. He made sure I didn’t over buy and made adjustments to make everything perfect…..thank you Pearl and Connor and the team there. I came in for a source/power cable that was needed for my studio monitors at home. After speaking with Conner over the phone he said not a problem, there were tons in the back and that he could throw me one for 5 bucks. Sweet deal, I came in to grab it within the hour and he hooked it up. Definitely a great feel about the store.

In my opinion, one of the best hi-fi shops in the area. Knowledgeable, friendly, and they carry excellent brands like Ayre and Dynaudio. If you are in the market for audio or video equipment I strongly recommend you make a stop at Pearl Audio Video before you buy.
