"Had a rather hilarious experience here recently"
"Very modern library"
"Lovely upstairs reading room, as previous mentioned, you can only use pencils, no water/liquids as they're (rightly so) precious about the manuscripts hidden there"
"Apart from the main room with books which is quiet except when children in the children section are noisy, there is a separate study room where you can charge your device and study/work too"
"A lovely library building with a section for exhibitions on the right side"
Had a rather hilarious experience here recently. Needed a place to correct students' papers whilst in town and so headed into PSL in the hope of finding a quiet corner. Went upstairs to Reading Room and had to register as a member even though I hadn't intended on borrowing books or coming back for that matter. I then was admitted through the steel gate and went about my work. After about 15 minutes, the same woman who registered me walks over and tells me "pens are not allowed, pencils only". When I explained I was grading papers and hadn't intended on desecrating the library with slogans or graffiti, she merely repeated her mantra: "pens are not allowed, pencils only". The situation was all the more farcical given the guy sitting beside me was engaged in some very interesting research of his own on the internet whilst the girl across from me was filing her nails. At this point, I reflected that it was pointless trying to argue with a robot resembling one of the daleks from Dr. Who and so left. Ironic really considering numbers using libraries are dwindling but at the same time, hardly surprising given individuals like her work here.
Very modern library. Registering is quick and easy online then just call in to get the permanent library card. Good selection of books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and what's better is, that logging in online, one can request these from other locations, too. Once arrived the library sends an email:) There is also an upstairs reading room, a designated study area with multiple PCs and a nice little café (NB they can only take cash). Well worth the visit!
Lovely upstairs reading room, as previous mentioned, you can only use pencils, no water/liquids as they're (rightly so) precious about the manuscripts hidden there. Great opening hours for after work study, great little resource for anyone this side of town. There's a cafe too upstairs during the day
Apart from the main room with books which is quiet except when children in the children section are noisy, there is a separate study room where you can charge your device and study/work too. They also have computers for browsing and printers for printing. They staff are great too!
A lovely library building with a section for exhibitions on the right side. Up stairs there is one of the best study rooms in Dublin with individual desk surrounded by book shelves, very quiet and peaceful. The place also has a coffee shop on the last floor
I went into this library for the first time ever today and I was pleasantly surprised. The library staff are friendly and they have modern facilities such as a PC with a catalogue of the books that the library has and a self service checkout for books.
Friendly staff ! Fantastic and accessible collection of 'Dublin' historic documents and photos. They have a fabulous bright and airy research / reading room with fast wireless broadband access.
Great place to study, has a little museum exhibit on the ground floor and a printing service where you can send documents to their email address and access and print on site. Very handy :)
Reading room upstairs is great for studying and staff is very friendly. Unfortunately only half of the room is open as study space. There is also a café that serves light snacks.
Heard that library was open on Saturday morning for use of toilets only. Got there 8th May 10.30am - no sign of opening.
Great for studying, nice atmosphere upstairs and interesting collection of ancient books, with toilets and coffee shop
Went into to get something printed. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful!
Once registered you have free access to the internet, plus the books of course
Great space that's underused. I think it contains Nelsons head too!
