The People’s Museum Somers Town is an important model for documenting and giving physical form to a place, neighborhood and community. I enjoyed an informative walking tour with Steve McCarthy, and especially appreciated the opportunity to meet and learn about the lives of several residents who have shared history and objects with this extraordinary community museum. Go and see this if you are interested in urban planning, social history, cultural heritage, architecture, public art, or effective community engagement programming and projects. The physical space/collection is a treasure trove deserving of a larger space to display its holdings (I’m envisioning the addition of storage/conservation space and a “reading” room where objects and archived materials could be studied and discussed). This is a special combination of people, place and vision of what a collective dedicated to “living history” can accomplish. I could have spent another full day looking through the objects and on-site book/publications collection. I look forward to a return visit on my next trip to the UK.
Wonderful little museum of local history obviously a passion of owner who seems to have many friends (passers by). Open Weds -Sat. She was there and gave us a private viewing. Most Kind. Excellent cafes next door and nearby. A real gem a few minutes stroll from KingsCross St Pancreas & Euston. Better way to spend your time; than waiting at the station!

Staffed by some very knowledgeable and genuinely nice people. I met Alan, Steve and Di on a visit to the People's Museum Somers Town on Friday and spent an informative and more than pleasant hour or two swapping stories about the area. Certainly well worth a visit and definitely your support if you have a connection to the area.

A great place to spend time whilst waiting for your train. Pop in and learn about the history - very well kept and brilliant volunteers. Free - donations always welcome, these people are heroes for preservation of our collected culture.

I loved this place ! It was my highlight of the wonderful Somers Town Street party . What a treat and a surprise! Everything about it : the people involved, the varied content, how it engaged visitors. I find places like this so important in their preservation of history.
I happened across the museum when walking through and as my father's family all came from the area, visited. A brief visit but was welcomed and really impressed by collection. Will be back.

Extremely small museum of just one room well worth a stop before you get the train. A lot of locals see it as a hub to chat about the old days. This is the kind of vision we need for moder social change.
Great small local history museum with lots of history in it. Just drop by or check out related events online.

A good place to find out about the area's past and present. Small but packed with information and fascinating objects, images, and texts. The rare Scritti Politti 45rpm was a surprise!
Went to a great poetry night here last night. Everyone I met was lovely, and space is really friendly with lots of interesting things packed on the walls and in corners to check out.
Cosy, welcoming and historical place. Fun to visit, would recommend visiting.
