I had the worst experience of any shop ever. I took them my 2012 Infinity QX-56 due to it shutting when I would drive it. I ended up taking my truck to their shop and I went ahead and explained the situation to them, and they said that sounded like it was a fuel pump issue and they guaranteed me they would find the problem and it would be resolved. Keep in mind they charge me $139 to diagnose it and I went ahead and are dropped off the vehicle last Monday and they wouldn’t call me back to let me know if they found anything on it. I literally had to call them to for an updates because they were very bad on keeping me informed. I then called them back four days later, because I hadn’t heard anything and they said their technician had to order a “crankshaft sensor,” because they were going to start off on the cheaper price and go from there. They told me they had to order the part from the dealership and that they would get it the very next day, which should’ve been last Wednesday. I then called back that Wednesday and they said the part had to be a special order and they said that they didn’t get the part until the following day which was on Thursday of last week. I waited around all day Friday and still didn’t get a call until I called them to get another additional update, they then told me that the part was being installed and they would let me know. I waited over the weekend and come on Monday afternoon. I finally got impatient and called them to find out what was going on and they told me that the part had been installed and the vehicle was no longer allowing them to accelerate the vehicle while driving, and it would only go up to 40 miles an hour and that they needed a special tool to test the fuel pump pressure to see why the truck wouldn’t accelerate, because they didn’t have that tool. They ended up charging me $444 for that sensor. Then I ended up driving my vehicle to the dealership and way before arriving at the dealership. The vehicle again shut off on me while dribbling after they said the vehicle was no longer shutting off. Once I arrived at the dealership I had to pay an additional $269 for another diagnose and they called me back four hours later which was yesterday saying it had nothing to do with the crankshaft sensor, nor the fuel pump. It told me it was catalytic converter’s that were clogged and that they needed to be replaced. I then called and the shop back to tell them that it wasn’t the crankshaft sensor and they acted surprised and said, “really.” Once I let the gentleman know about the issue and let him know it had nothing to do with the crankshaft sensor. He seemed to get upset and said, “we don’t conduct business that way and we had to replace the crankshaft sensor.” if you guys are in the area I wouldn’t take my vehicle to them not even to get air in the tire much less any thing else save your time and money and avoid going there. They will tell you what you want to hear and charge you and won’t fix the problem.

TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!! After having a very good mechanic friend move away, we entered one of our greatest fears. Finding a Mechanic we could trust. I made various phone calls, read numerous reviews and spoke to other friends and could not decide on a mechanic. We'll unfortunately, THAT day arrived. After deciding to buy The Ultimate Driving Machine (BMW) for its great track record, I think we finally hit the expiration date. Right after the extended warranty expired, our vehicle broke down. Fortunately, we were a block away from Performance Auto when it happen. We now had a dilemma...we were at the mercy of a mechanic, with little options. Fast forward a week, after multiple repairs, the car was as good as new. Throughout the whole process, Carl & Kye kept us informed, at ease and offered multiple options in our repairs. Though our final price was high, it was a result of the parts and work that was done. Carl's prices were fair and competitive. NO WAY did we feel CHEATED. 2 months later, once again about 3 blocks away, our car started acting up. The electrical system started flashing, suddenly we smelled "burnt, rotten eggs" (BLECH!) and smoke started filling the passenger compartment. By some chance, the car once again crawled to Performance Automotive. With a Fire Extinguisher in hand, Mike and Carl braved what awaited them. They opened the trunk and found that our battery had "exploded". Steam, smoke and battery acid everywhere. Mike immediately disconnected the battery. Here we were in dire straights again. 3 days before payday, a mortgage just paid and our daughter's birthday party in 4 days. We didn't need this. We braced for the worse. Once again, Carl and Mike kept us well informed, offered several options and quoted a fair price. Luckily, the damage was minimal. I STRONGLY recommend Performance Auto! Carl is our new GO TO GUY! I will be bringing The Ultimate Driving Machine ($$ Pit) back for regular maintenance as well as my VERY reliable Nissan Titan. TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!!

this is the worst place anyone can ever take their car too. paid over 1k in repairs for an overheating problem and was guaranteed my car was working again only to break down on me not even 5 mins away of driving off. turns out it was an employee who misdiagnosed our car and they ended up firing the employee who did the diagnostic test because not only did he mess up my car but other cars as well that i’m sure are driving around not knowing it they just try and hide it under the rug hoping paying customers don’t find out. owner calls saying he’ll help out by paying guaranteeing for motor and us paying for labor which we agreed because we have no vehicle and left with no other option come monday to speak to him and denies ever saying anything of course trying to get another dollar out of us when the main reason we took in was for overheating.Tried going to take our car out so we don’t give them another dollar and now car doesn’t even turn on and their saying it’s a wiring issue something they said they fixed which was included in the 1k and have all receipts on. Definitely taking this to civil court. Everyone PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE UNLESS YOU WANT IT BACK TEN TIMES WORSE!!! i’m sure the owner will respond back trying to cover his business but going through the experience at this shop has been absolute HELL!!!!

Where to begin… Background: I own a 2014 Chevy Cruze and needed the housing assembly for my thermostat replaced due to a coolant leak. Purchased part from Ancira Chevrolet I came here because I saw 171 reviews leading to a respectable 4.1 ✭ rating. From the beginning of my initial call w/ the owner Karl (or Carl) to my visit, my vehicle and experience was at the forefront of their priorities. I worked directly w/ Noah who confirmed the price quoted along w/ breaking down the details of my service. Unfortunately we ran into an issue of needing another part (not included in the kit & no fault of the shop) which caused some delays. This is where the exceptional service came in. The entire team (about 5 gents on hand) used all of their available resources /contacts to assist in the matter and one of the brilliant mechanics was able to come through and complete the job successfully / professionally with the proper part so that I could get back on the road. Additionally, they offer rides to and from their location (I’d assume it’s within a given radius) but bottom line is that I will be bringing my vehicles here due to the great customer service, respectable competitive prices, and the reliable completed service on my vehicle. This place has been great! My first time here, I was actually trying to get my car looked at by another nearby place, but when I arrived they were closed! Performance was open, so I walked in and asked if they could take a look at my car. They were able to look at it immediately, and because I hadn't looked at the reviews yet I was worried I might get scammed or that this place would be really expensive, but I was wrong! The customer service was great! They looked for the most cost-effective and least invasive issues first before even trying to find anything extra wrong. They were able to diagnose and fix my car same day where other places might keep it overnight or even make me wait a few days. The cost was more than reasonable, I have Googled every time I have gone here and their prices are average or lower for the repairs that they make. This is my new regular auto shop for sure!

My sons have taken vehicles here for a few years, I always thought it was a bit pricey, and always takes longer than the timeline they give you. Always. Recently my son took his charger, they quoted him one price then came out with another price. Told him it be ready next day, was not. He was without a vehicle for 6 days. He picked up his car and it rattles, sounds bad, he's so afraid to take it back and be charged more, again. Or be left without a vehicle for another week. I hate it when people try to take advantage of young kids, he's a teenager, trying to let him do his own thing and become a man, but my goodness don't take advantage of them because they're young. I'm sure this is the last $$ you saw from my boys, because they've spent a lot of their hard earned money there for years, and alwasy came back, against my will, but they did. Disappointed in this shop for sure.

I found this place online also I drove by it many times. The owner Carl is a Super nice guy. Very friendly mechanics and Carl is up front with you. They are restoring my first baby an old 58 Ford Fairlaine. I look forward to seeing her up and running like back in her former glory. I can't remember the mechanics names but they are very knowledgeable. They will not steer you wrong on stuff that is wrong or broken. Every time I go in to check on my car either Carl or one of the other friendly staff is always happy to let me go see the progress on my car. Also Carl is taking pics of the progress as they work on my car which is really cool!!!!! I highly recommend this place if you have a classic car or a modern car. For all the stuff they are doing to my 58 I know it's going to take some time. But I'm not in a hurry. I am very happy and I feel welcomed every time I go here.

I went to them for a check engine light and some minor repairs. They kept my car for weeks and kept finding things to replace that had nothing to do with the check engine light codes. When I asked for my car back to go to another mechanic they refused to let me pay my bill with my debit card and would not release my car. When I called the police the owner then told me he would only give me my car back if I went to the bank and paid cash. My bill was $4,111! Who walks around with $4k in their pocket? There was no written policy to pay in cash and there was a credit machine to pay with debit but to be difficult and racist he would not take my debit card payment. This business is unprofessional and unethical. No one should ever be treated the way I was today!

My mom had work done a couple of years back. Carl and Noah are amazing. They take the time to explain what needs to be and the urgency of it. In the past 6 or 7 weeks, I've had my breaks done, and 2 weeks later the harmonic balancer, and motor mounts. Being honest I wasn't sure what the harmonic balancer was, or what it did. Noah explained it very clearly, and never once did I feel as if I was being talked down too. Very refreshing way to deal with female customers. The work is great. All of the mechanics I came in contact with also amazing. Today I was just in for an oil change. Because this is the only place I will be going for work on my car. Thanks for everything. My car is running like new.

Used to be a excellent place. They would keep your vehicle for almost a week, but fix everything right. Last few times I went in they kept it for a week. got my vehicle back and found parts were not reinstalled and missing. Interior was damaged. Things that were working when it went in were not working now. Kept taking it back, they hold it for another week. Get charged more. And the problem still exist. If you have to bring your vehicle back it should be made a priority, not be put at the back of the list and make you be without a vehicle for another week. Especially on the third time you bring it back for the same problem that wasn't repaired properly.

I would like to thank Performance Auto and Trans for their honest, timely and effective service on my truck. I can finally say I have found a reliable shop to take my vehicles for future repairs. I brought my truck in expecting to get the same run around and expensive repairs every shop usually gives a customer, and instead I got honest feedback and communication to a small problem my truck had. If you want your vehicle to get fixed fast and not get ripped off, then I highly recommend trusting this business with any concerns you may have. I took in my car because it wasn't shifting gears and I told the manager I suspected there was some electrical issue and agreed to leave my car overnight. The Manager agrees to take a look at it for me does so, and when I inform him the next day that I wont be able to put any work into my car due to financial issues, he offers to test my relays regardless, free of charge. They discover it's just a bad relay and send me on my way a happy camper. this could have cost me a couple of hundred dollars in electrical diagnostic tests and whatnot. Thank you so much! You guys are Awesome!

This place was the most frustrating experience I have ever had with any car I have ever had. We took our car to get the shift fixed, and it took them 3 separate occasions to "fix" it. Then, they offered to do a free oil change, and the shift was loose again. They supposedly changed our oil but did not reset our alert in the car, and now...the car will not start! If you don't know how to fix something just share that. The people were nice but completely incompetent when it came to our Ford. I would NOT recommend this place for more major repairs.

Overpriced for no reason. Simple (inaccurate) diagnosis costs 70 bucks, not to mention that takes 3 business days just to see what’s wrong. Claimed something was wrong with my sway bar links, so I agreed to pay around 400 to have it shipped and fixed ASAP since transportation is a necessity. Turned out that wasn’t it and found out the hard way when my drive shaft was broken. Seems to me they really don’t look at what’s wrong and just eat your money. Rather go to “El Gato” on marbach, much more reliable and free inspection to see what’s wrong.

These guys are gangsters. They will charge you for work that they didn't even do. I brought my car into there to get repaired and in two days the same problem existed. I made my friend who is a mechanic take a look and he said the parts that they said they replaced was still the old stock. I also noticed my shades were missing from my glove box. Please be careful before brining your car here or if you do, at least know enough about cars to ensure they don't steal from you. I brought my car twice to this place. Never again.

Took my car in for a diagnostic, diagnostic was fine but pricey, $70, everyone was nice who we interacted with. I opted to take my vehicle elsewhere for the service they recommended because it was $150 cheaper. The reason for the low stars is they did not put mats down when they drove the car. There is oil and dirt spots on my driver and passenger floor, as well as an oil hand print on the passenger door. I understand they have to drive it around but for the prices they charge they can put some paper or plastic mats down.

Amazing service they did a head gasket and flange gasket repair on my ram 1500. They replaced a bolt that fell out. Great price & extremely friendly. The owner Carl, Ed and the entire team are on point and if your looking for a great place to do repairs at a reasonable price look no further. Other places I called said my work would take 4 days to an entire week. I brought it here 1.5 days and they were done and high quality work. Will definitely come back for other repairs in the future.

"2 Year Customer; Professional, Competent and Reliable" I have been a customer for Performance for about 2 years and they continue to impress me with their professionalism, timeliness and courtesy. Carl (owner) is very accommodating and will let you know how much it will be before it's all said and done. They have figured out problems with our vehicles that many others weren't able to. They can work on any type of vehicle and are worth a try if you are unsure of their competency.

Performance Automotive is the only place I trust for all my auto needs. I have been taking my personal and business vehicles to them for a few years now. The prices are very reasonable, they keep me up to date on the status, the staff is friendly and Knowledgable. I have had another shop quote me a price of $1200. I called Performance and the total bill was less than $150. You can bet they have my business for life. I would and have recommended them to friends and family.

They made a price with my brother and wanted to take advantage of me because my brother was not there when I came to pick up my car. You wouldn’t believe they made a $150 price with my brother to change my battery and my alternator. When I came to pick up my car without my brother they gave me a $500+ price for their services. This is a really bad shop, never take your car there because they are scams. They only try to rip people’s money.

Carl, business owner, quoted me $250 for AC warranty repairs and gave me a bill for $905. That's a difference of $655. When I questioned the excessive added amount, I was told that was the bill. If you want your car today, I would have to pay the total amount. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The place is dishonest and a poor example of good customer service. Oh! one more thing. It took the shop 14 day to repair my car.

Have used Performance several times and each time the folks there are consistently friendly, courteous and efficient. The mechanics go above and check tire pressure and liquid levels. The owner, Carl is a nice friendly guy as well as the office staff. Very friendly staff, especially Noah. Once they got to my car they took care of it quickly. Only problem is they are really busy and short staffed. They’re the only mechanic in the area so it’s understandable. I think they’re doing the best they can in a complicated situation. I would go back to them for simple things, but for something more complicated I’m afraid it would take too long.

I've known this place 25 years and been going to them all this time taking my car in which they have taken very good care of my car. They are up front and will let you know what's your price may be but sometimes some issues may come up with your car in they will let you know and what the cost may be and to continue or not. They are very good at explaining the problem about your car.

This shop quoted a different charge upfront but tried switching the price after service. I told them I didn't agree to the new charge but they insisted. I told them I will call the police to resolve this issue. Thet asked for me to pay the original cost and never comeback. Customers be warned this place is worst than a bate and switch. Get a written agreement before work is done

I have had two great experince with this auto shop. The first time they fixed my Jeep when mo one esle could figure it out, it was the computer. The second time they replaced waterpump and starter all within hours.Karl and his crew really know what they are doing. I will definitly keep coming back to this place. And I highly recommend if your looking for a grreta mechanic shop!

This place is a joke. I went over there and got an estimate for 5k, then 3 days later they called me and they say my car needs more work on it and they changed the estimate from 5k to 8k. So I decided to pick it up my car as is.. they haven't done nothing . Then the worse part is when they charged me 4k for doing NOTHING on my car... And if I don't pay I DIDNT get my car back.

My car was in bad shape. I changed the battery and it wouldn’t stay on. I drove it like that to performance auto. The engine light was not on, but they diagnosed the problem within 30 minutes and fixed my car. I can not be more appreciative. Bring your car to performance automotive on marbach and get the job done right. Honest people. Reasonable price. I will go there again.

This place is one of the best automotive shops I have known in my five decades. They charge honest hours, search for the best prices on parts (including junkyards for older vehicles), and treat the customers with dignity and respect. In fact, one if our early impressions of them over a decade ago was that they treat women the same as men, regardless of age.

Worst car repair shop ever!! Brought my truck to get transmission rebuild was told it’ll take about week actually took ten days n once I got it back still wasn’t driving right took it back and now I’m hearing all kinds of issues I didn’t have b4 going their. It’s been almost a month and I still don’t have my truck back and I already paid them over 3000$

Whether it was a transmission job, oil change, or just sparkplug replacements this place has always taken care of my cars. Hands down the best place in San Antonio.

Came to get my brakes done. They checked all brakes, confirmed that I only needed my rear brakes done, and then also fixed a wheel stud I forgot needed to be fixed. It took just a bit longer than originally estimated, but the price was about as low as could be. The staff was friendly and courteous. They performed their jobs with excellence.

When I walked into the business everyone was so nice great attitude and positive energy..Even ask me if I wanted breakfast tacos and gave me a courtesy ride back home...Noah gave me a fast response letting me know what was going on with my car.Thank you so much I really appreciate you all ..I highly recommend this business.

I can't say enough about Performance Auto & Transmission! They resolved the issue with my 07’ Avalanche that other Shops had failed to diagnose and correct. After having spent not only money but time and more money, they resolved the issue, which turned out to be a simple fix. I can not thank Noah and his Mechanics enough!

I have been a customer for many years. Carl has been my mechanic for years. I called and they got me in for an oil change the same day. Although the oil change was more than pre-Covid, the labor was less than the oil. The price of the oil is what increased the price. Try Carl and his crew. You will not be disappointed.

Carl the owner is a good reasonable person. The secretary was very nice. I probably talked her head off. The mechanic was professional and made sure I was good to go. I'm so glad I found this place. They can fix anything on my desiel truck and my wife's car. We are both very pleased with Performance Automotive. They have taken care of normal maintence and also fixed major problems for us. About a year ago they even rebuilt my truck's transmission and its still running great.

I've had these guys do work before and many years ago, they were okay but now that Noah is in the front, it's not good at all. He calls you a liar when there is a problem and you tell him what was said to you and dares you to prove him wrong. I certainly will never go back there or recommend it to any one else.

This place is charging me an arm and a leg for repairs that the parts are not this expensive. I'm a single mom and they took advanced knowing I was needing to get my truck back and was my only matters of transportation. If you look at these parts from even the dealer they are not as expensive. Don't go here.

When I first tried them several years ago I had issues with the mechanics not understanding what I was communicating to them. I tried them again about six months ago and have gone back several times since and have been very pleased. They have done quality work at a reasonable price.

This place has great service now. Also good high quality work given what they had to work with. I need a radiator flush real bad. They were able to do the flush at a good price given the time it took. Will keep bringing my vehicle here.

Staff was extremely attentive and notified me immediately of any problems or changes. I felt my vehicle was secure and mechanic seemed totally knowledgeable when it came to suggesting other adjustments. I will definitely use them again.

Our vehicle stayed overnight and someone broke in the lot and stole our fuel. The employees didn’t fixed the problem we had with the vehicle so we brought it back and still for the second time didn’t fix it. They are not professional.

Promised my car back in 2 days, took a week and a half. Had to drop the exhaust to do my clutch, put the exhaust back together without a new gasket and instead used exhaust puddy, causing a leak.

Took my vehicle in for a heater repair and they end up breaking a hub bearing not wanting to fix what they broke. And my heater still is not working after they said they fixed it.
