Jun 3- I am so grateful for this place which is now become my go-to for everything regarding my Muggs. Today I was so pleased to get a recommendation for an ointment to help my little guy with a couple of sores we've been trying to manage at home. Nov 21-Today was a great day for coat shopping and picking up some fresh treats Edited again Oct 22-I have continued to frequent this little store as my dog loves the fresh food they carry and the customer service is top notch. Edited again Sept 3--each time I edit another star gets added as my experiences continue to improve on each visit. Today there was a warm welcome as soon as I walked in not to mention an employee who went above and beyond to check a policy for me. Edited August 1--I have been back a few times and the service was a tad friendlier. Original Review--This store is conveniently located near to where I live and I was hoping to have found a new place to purchase my pets products. The store is not welcoming and neither are the staff. When you walk in it feels cluttered and a little overwhelming with no signage indicating what is where and neither an employee to help out. On that note, when I did walk through and find an employee available, she gave me a brief hello and I got the impression that I was interrupting her. I perused the store and when I finally ran into said employee to ask her a question I literally got one word answers with no offer of assistance or even inquiry as to what my needs were. When I finally specified what my situation was she referred me to one product that she said her boss used for his dog. She then pointed to him (who at the time was on a latter and clearly busy) to say " there he is you can ask him so you know I am not lying". I did manage to get a little feedback from him with much prompting before making my first and possibly my last purchase at this store. There are a many pet stores in the area and I really appreciate good customer service, especially when exploring new products for my pets. The good news is that my dog did enjoy his first plate of the new recommended food. Hopefully that trend will last as he is quite picky. I try to support small business however that does come with certain expectations.

Was looking for green tree frogs for my son, but due to covid19 had lots of trouble finding the little guys. Thankfully a gentleman off kijji suggested Pet Circus mentioning he had seen them there. Unfortunately being an hour west of the city without vehicle, I was hesitant to make the trip. I called ahead of time... twice that week and thankfully the gentlemen took my name and said he would hold 2 for us. I went on Friday and they couldnt have made my buying any smoother. Not only did they have the cuttest little American green tree frogs, they also helpped me with the setup and lighting. Everything is perfect and both my sons could not be happier. I would suggest this place not only for avalibility of species but customer service was out standing! Check this pet shop out if you have the chance! I am gald I did.

I don’t personally leave star reviews, especially comments but I felt Pet Circus deserved to have one!! Went into Pet Circus for the first time today. The place was absolutely beautiful, the prices were amazing and Pet Circus helped me get the best gift of them all… My newest beloved!! Meet baby Elita, she’s such a little darling. She came home dancing, singing and full of joy!! I originally went in to search for an item and ask a few questions but I just couldn’t leave this little gal behind. I got everything I wanted and more at Pet Circus. The staff was also amazing (I loved cashier Kiwi, she was so sweet lol) my flock will forever be thankful for the arrival of our newest member. Thank you for everything!! I HIGHLY recommend going here.

Bought 5 cat toys today, most are the same/average quality you'd find in other stores just a little more expensive because of the location. The laser pointer I bought doesn't work because the ring that screws the cap to the body is broken and wont unscrew to get the batteries in. It's a low quality product made in China being sold for 8$ because of the area. It's probably a fine store if you're in need but the product quality just isn't there for the price and I'm not going to try to return a cat toy. You're better off going to a bigger store or even a Dollarama or Walmart for the same product for cheaper if ones accessible to you. If not, supporting local is always a good idea too.

Everyone is so nice and helpful. I'm the type of person who takes forever to make a decision on things. They answered all of my questions helped me pick out the things I would need to get for my new hamster. I told them how much I had to spend and that I only wanted the essential things and I left with just that and money left over. They are all animal lovers so they only sell products they will/would use. I was there for over a hour and they never once looked irritated with me or my questions. And when I was finally all packed and ready to take our new pet home, they informed me that if for some reason it didn't work out they would take him back no questions asked.

Pet Circus is the only pet store we frequent and all of our furry friends have come from this store! All staff are super super friendly and are very helpful&knowledgeable if you have care questions. They have a really great selection of small animal and reptile related products, definitely superior to box stores. Prices are competitive or lower than box stores as well! They've been super accommodating when we ask them if they can source certain products for us that are harder to find. We've placed orders for Neo cages and Mazuri food through Pet Circus. If there's something you need that they don't have, please consider ordering through this local small business :)

Pet circus is a good sized independent pet store for the area. I have been able to find most of what I've needed without any issue. The staff have been friendly and helpful every time I've come in. They have a good selection of cat food, focusing on the grain free, non-junk food varieties. I have not tried the frozen raw diet available, as my cat does not like it, but I appreciate that it is available. My only 'issue' is that I have never seen much of anything on sale, aside from manufacturer's discounts. Obviously, they don't have to, but it means that if I'm looking for a deal, I often go elsewhere.

First timer at this store, happens to be on the walk to my car and my dog needed food. First glance prices were high but the food was also high quality, decided to pass was walking out until the clerk acknowledged me, extremely friendly pointed me to more reasonably but quality ingredient dog food (canadian made no less!) I am keen on dog food having meat as its first ingredient so this fit the bill, to boot they advised of a loyalty program for the dog food (10th bag is free) and gave me a decent dog chew toy for free! Thats how you build customers, highly recommend the place!

I absolutely LOVE the staff at Pet Circus! I called one evening desperate to find ear mite treatment for my dog, Marlee. The man I spoke to on the phone was extremely helpful and made sure I knew all of the products that Pet Circus offers for such an ear treatment for mites. I returned the following day and was greeted with their wonderful manager, Arden. Lovely lady and extremely knowledgable about pet and products of all sorts. Good selection, nice store but I wanted to switch flavors of Fromm dog food and was brushed off by the staff (interrupted a personal convo between the staff at the cash - no customers in the store) and given a sample bag without being able to discuss fat content, allergies etc. within the line of foods. I mentioned that my dog has pancreatitis and needs to be on a low fat diet but I was looking to up the fat % slightly. The sample I was given is CAT food and is quite high in protein and fat. Sorry for taking up so much of your time I guess....

I cannot give this store enough stars. I've been living downtown for around 2 years and this little gem has become my favorite pet shop. For a small business, it has great prices! And the staff are always super friendly and knowledgeable! I've expanded my pet knowledge and my own number of pets through this store. Love my betta from here, got an amazing hamster who was the sweetest thing, and I've gotten so many harnesses and collars for my dog that are unique and so cute. I will never stop coming here!!

We’re so lucky to have an independent pet shop in downtown Ottawa! Being a smaller store I find the animals are healthier and more attentively cared for than at some of the bigger box stores. I noticed last time I was in that they now have a separated filtration system for bettas, which was really nice to see (as opposed to selling them in individual, unfiltered cups). I also really appreciate that their birds’ wings aren’t clipped. Love these guys and hope they continue to stick around for a long time!

The best pet store in Centretown! I have a snake addiction and they are the perfect pet shop to help me with anything my snakes need. I wish they had a bit more of a variety of snakes available, but at least they have snakes at all! Typically have regular ball pythons and corn snakes in stock. Hognose, boas, or other morphs of ball pythons would be cool to see! All in all, they are the only pet store I buy my snake supplies from and I don't think that will ever change as long as I'm in the area.

Such a shame that I moved to Ottawa a few years back but only learned about this pet store in 2021! Absolutely wonderful customer service - available stock for essential items and online store up-to-date and payment system easy to use. Ordered a few items for tank cycling this AM and items were ready to pickup within 30min. Store is located is a very walkable area accessible by public transit, but also has parking around. Please support local stores during the COVID-19 lockdown!!!

Absolutely awesome. I got a tiny little Budgie, at extremely reasonable price. Any questions I had were happily answered, and my bird is in excellent health physically as well as mentally. I will certainly be returning many, many times. Edit: 3 months in, Pasha and I are very closely bonded. This little bird is a joy to have around. Very bright, energetic, and curious. When I got him he was too young to sex, but his now purple ceres indicate he is a male.

This place has amazing staff the staff are knowledgeable about a large scope of animals, reptiles and amphibians alike. Prices are great and fair products are always quality. If u have questions they can most likely give you answers.They care for all there customers. The store has no stairs making it wheelchair accessible. In all honesty it's a high quality family owned local business. Overall good experience.

Went in to buy some cichlids and was very taken back by the conditions that their tanks were in. They were very poorly kept and obviously haven't been cleaned in a while. There were dead fish floating in tanks, I informed an employee and ended up going back in the next day to find the same floating dead fish still inside the tank with the rest of the fish. Very disappointing.

Incredible store. They have an amazing selection, and they're always first to mind when I think about where I might find aquatic plants, or plecos/algae eaters. Or snails, or a giant cow femur for my dog to gnaw on, or a round of cardboard intended for my cat's incessant clawing and inevitably serving as a tattered dais upon which he sleeps and gazes down upon all.

I've only ever been here a couple of times, but their staff is always so helpful. They have a good variety of canned cat food and cat trees. The only thing I've noticed is that a lot of the canned foods for cats are loaf/pates. I just have a preference for slices, because my cats somehow always seen to make a mess out of the loaves, but it's not really a big deal.

Great place! I got three rats here and they are so friendly and sweet. The staff are all really helpful, and the stock is great too. You can tell the people here really care about animals and it shows in how healthy and well-adjusted my new rats are! There are three pet shops that are closer to where I live, but I will make the effort to go here when I can.

Although the prices seemed a tad higher than other, bigger chain-stores, the selection is definitely worth the small shift in price. I find that they carry things that are either hard to find, or you didn't even know existed! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who are just a friendly conversation away to help you with all of your individual pet needs!

They have exactly what you need, when you need it. Despite its small size, Pet Circus is competitively priced - better than any chain pet store I've ever been - and they have rewards programs on some items, which makes shopping here all the more economical. The staff are helpful, and the hours are pretty flexible, too, which is always a plus!

The store other pet stores direct you to for small pets, but even for dogs and cays they have an astonishing amount of quality items, crammed into a tight space. In my experience, staff have been consistently knowledgable and helpful and down to earth. Highly recommend choosing this pet store EVEN though I feel a bit clostraphibic inside it.

Staff are always friendly and helpful. They have kittens once in awhile. Lots of toys for cats and dogs. A pretty substantial aquatic section with a wide variety of species including Ghost Shrimp, African Clawed Frog, Axolotl, Zebra fish, rainbow shark... lots of tank supplies too. The store also has some reptiles.

I go to Pet circus at least once a week and I am greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. The quality of their products is great and the treatment and health of their animals is a top priority without a doubt. I recommend them if you’re looking for healthy treats, cute dog bandanas, a new pet, anything!

The staff there is amazing and very knowledgeable. I've gotten sage advice from them on several occasions. Did i mention they solved my concerns each time? They did and i can't believe that i did not go back there sooner. Will definitely buy from here on a regular basis to keep them in our neighborhood

This has to be the best pet store in Ottawa. The very friendly staff know what they are talking about. No heavy sales pressure. Just a fun place to buy my pet supplies. This place cannot be beat. I would recommend Pet Circus to anyone who needs pet supplies or pets. They have a fantastic selection.

Better prices than PetSmart and such lovely people. Though it was curbside, just a peek through the windows and you can see they have so many good things. A lot of essentials for pet birds that is missing at PetSmart - you can find here instead. This is going to be my new favorite place to shop :)

As a local small business owner, I am completely satisfied with and very loyal to Pet Circus. Bob and/or Arden are always very helpful and has solutions for all of my needs. They provide the small town familiarity and remember your pet's name while having great prices and providing good service.

Love this store, Been there only once but I ended up buying 2 very nice Weather Loaches from here about a year back I still have and they are doing great! They have a nice selection of animals, foods and other related products, Cashier was very nice, I will definitely be returning!

Great store. After a recent bad experience with what had been my go to store for pet food and supplies, I found myself here and they were really amazing and helpful. Got my dog on much better food and she is doing so much better now. They will be getting my business from now on.

Been going here for years, even got one of our cats here (they come from a rescue in Smith's Falls). Staff is helpful, they have almost everything you would need. Have a loyalty program where if you buy X number of bags of food you get a free one. Prices aren't unreasonable.

Awesome service every time! Got all the things I needed in on time. :) Eco earth and reptile branches, all ordered less than a week ago. Love the quality and effort this store puts in, even the reptile tanks are solidly enriching with proper substrate. Kudos

Lots of great items fit into this little gem of a store. They have things for all sorts of little critters, from cats and dogs to bunnies and replies. I find they carry items that are usually harder to find or limited supply at other places. Worth a trip to check it out.

Great service! I adopted a kitten from the rescue they run with Smith Falls years ago, since then I've been a loyal customer. They have a great rewards program for cat/dog food and the service is always great. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a local pet store.

I got my three baby rats from here. One hairless dumbo(shrimp) one normal dumbo(honey) and one rex dumbo(badger). I can say they are wonderful there and was so excited i was getting them. I would recommend them over any big chain pet store!

I just adopted a lovely cat at Pet Circus and it was a good experience. Its clear that she was well taken care of and the same can probably be said for the other animals there. I will definitely return for food and other cat products.

Very well stocked pet store with basic to high end items. A real independent one too which is better to support than the big chains! They stock frozen food for reptile owners too which seem to be the cheapest I can find in Ottawa.

Very nice place with a HUGE diversity of items. They have live pets for sale too! We saw a big parrot, fancy budgeys, lots kinds of fish, rats (even bold ones), some reptiles (turtles, snakes), insects (i guess it was a spider)

Pet Circus has all the supplies I need for my dog, great selection at competitive prices but it really shines with the service. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, polite and always willing to help! Highly recommended!!!!

Went there to pick up supplies for my new kittens, the staff was very friendly and helpful. An employee even helped me pick out a spray to deter my kittens from scratching my furniture. I will be going there in the future :)

I honestly love this store! The treats are far more affordable than Pet smart. They sell only Canadian made pet foods which I fully support, the staff are lovely and always have treats for your fur babies <3

Decent selection of items for hamsters, at least in comparison to many of the pet stores in the area. I also appreciated their supply of reptile items which I use for my hamster!

All around a pretty good store but I bought a dual light set up and everytime I buy a new bulb it last not even days don't know if it's the product or the store but I'm not happy

I noticed the fancy rats are housed in a tank and not a cage which can be very harmful to the baby rats. Otherwise, very friendly staff and a good selection of products.
