So I purchased a veil chameleon from this place in January 12, 2022. I love her at first sight but this place didn’t have a set price on her. And the staff told me they are not easy to care for.. I ended up buying her set her cage enclosure up and she was eating well doing ok but she was shedding a lot. And it took almost 2 weeks before it all came off. She was a bit skinny as well. But she started to look a lot better as the weeks went by. On March 20th she started showing signs of not moving around a lot and not eating much. I waited about a day or two. After that she was going to the bottom of cage. I reached in there and she feel in my hand at this point I knew something was definitely wrong with her I took her to a emergency vet and she was slowly passing away. I got her in there and was told the she had some kind of rotting in the teeth and that she had been sick for a long time. I was devastated to hear she was so sick. After about 2 hours she ended up passing away. I am seriously hurt over this. I called pet kingdom and spoke to Matt about the animal but he was not able to help me in any way or offer anything for the loss of this pet. I buy from this place all the time for fish and other animal supplies. But this was not fair or my fault. I will never buy another thing in this place I will make sure I tell everyone I know about my experience in buying anything from this place. This was the worst experience I have ever dealt with. I sure hope everyone reads my posted as I stand strong against this place for selling reptile’s to anyone. If I could give you no stars that’s what I would have gave your place. Horrible experience.

I very much enjoy coming to Pet Kingdom, I have been doing so since I was young. I've recently come into caring for a ball python (his name is Tank) and despite my general issue with social anxiety, the staff are always very kind and patient, so l was very relieved when bringing one of my concerns for my snake's wellbeing to one of the staff members. I was given ample advice on assisting my snake with his shed when it was taking longer than it should have, and I felt thoroughly reassured and confident when I left (I'm proud to add that he's doing well now!) I think other reviews commenting on "unprofessional" or "rudeness" should be taken with a grain of salt; running a business is hard, especially a business with as wide of a variety of animals and products as Pet Kingdom has. They're not just employees they're people, and should not be judged so harshly if they come off as short or by contrast, laid back. A lot of work and a lot of heart goes into maintaining their store, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my Reptile/Amphibian/Arthropod/Fish/etc needs they have my respect and my gratitude for being such a wonderful business

I love this store, especially the freshwater department and all the associates are so knowledgeable and helpful. I came in here a couple days ago looking for some solutions to a hair algae problem in my 5 gallon tank. I thought my lighting was too strong, so I asked the associate about lights, and he didn't try to sell a light because he didn't think my lighting was the issue. Instead he suggested I try to manually remove algae as much as possible and do a water change. I'll admit, I've been slacking on the water changes because I never have nitrates in my densely planted tank, but I was forgetting about other nutrients that could be building up. So that was solid advice. Then he suggested some algae eaters, but I already have 3 amano shrimp and one nerite snail in there. I also have one sparkling gourami. Then he suggested an Arizona Flagfish, so I bought one and lemme tell you, this little fish is absolutely amazing! It has been grazing nonstop and slurping up hair algae like spaghetti. my tank is looking nice and clean again. I couldn't be happier :).

Just a super diminished version of what they once were. The people talking about how good their prices are...I want some of what you're smoking. Its clear you guys don't shop around. Husbandry on many species is OFF. DO NOT get me started on tarantulas. Most of the employees are nice, but one younger woman with tats that works in the back is RUDE RUDE RUDE, literally one of the most obnoxious, customer service failing, arrogant creatures. Sadly, I've talked to others who have also had the misfortune of dealing with/being insulted by her. I literally only shop here in a pinch now. Come here when it's convenient, as at least it's not a mega chain. But don't delude yourselves, there's better prices and more knowledge elsewhere. Beast Pets, for example. Good luck

Evan in the salt department is the laziest and worst employee at this store in a long time! I have been a regular at the store for more that 25 years. I asked to get a quote to purchase some custom tanks that were identical to ones that were on display in the store. I told him I needed them to be exactly like what was on display. He acted like it was a chore to sell product he didn't want to get the quote book out. He complained he would have to find a tape measure. He tried to get me to buy reptile tanks that aren't guaranteed to be watertight. Clearly Evan is in need of some unemployment. The store owner or manager should hire someone who wants a job and will come out from behind the counter.Evan is a liability and costing the store money.

Pet Kingdom has a nice selection of animals. They have salt water fish, fresh water fish, turtles, tortoises, frogs, spiders, snakes, and lizards. Animals do look healthy so don't worry about your pet dying the next day. The only negative thing I can say about Pet Kingdom is there prices are higher than other exoitic pet stores. Is it worth maybe but sometimes you walk out with a steal. They also have a huge range of pet supplies for sale, so don't worry about not finding food sources and ext because they got it. Very roomy so your not crowded and can actually take your time looking around. Very knowledgeable staff.

I have never had a problem here. But the girl behind the reptile counter with a tattoo sleeve, had a really bad attitude. Twice already she's neglected to give me the right sized feeders. The first time when I told her I needed larger, she said "you get what I grab". I bought a medium and large rat like i always do today, she gave me a rat pup and a small rat. That's not what I paid for, and she needs to be fired. Multiple people were complaining about her. And she treated the new guy behind the counter really bad. She's a hindrance to your work morale, and to your customers.

The best pet store in San Diego especially if you need fish or reptile stuff. Have every kind of fish food and fish accessories you can think of! Super reasonable prices so it's easy to come back over and over again. The kids love it because there's always something new and cool on display right when you walk in. Ms. Elaine is the best! She always helps me yet my fish and nails and crabs. She is always super sweet and super knowledgeable. I got everything in these photos from Pet Kingdom and I love everything about it!

I went in to kill time before my appointment and seen a very old snake they had up for adoption. It tugged my heart, so I took old Reginald home. He’s in a quarantine tank for now and then he’ll be moving into my snake room, but he’s doing so good! Everybody was very nice when I went to ask about him and they really seemed to care. It was so wonderful of them to take in a 37 year old surrender with nowhere to go and help find him a home to live out the rest of his days. Recommend them to everyone.

Every time I have gone here I am greeted with smiles and I've never had to wait for help. They will never try to sell you something just to make a sale. If you don't need the more expensive filter they will tell you. The knowledge among the employees is incredible and they will walk the entire store with you until you have not what you want, but what you need. Hands down the only store I will be going to for my aquarium needs.

Visit this place at least once a week they accommodate all my pet needs have 5 fish tanks and 5 dogs and I am able to get everything I need here. Great price on RO water as well as fish for fresh water aquariums. They have a shot clinic every Sunday run by ShotsForPets they are also great and friendly. The line does get really long though, it is a walk up clinic after all so best get their early.

Odd place, slightly creepy. Went looking for a specific brand of dog food, they had the brand but very limited variety with no large breed options. No marrow bones and limited chew selection overall. Asked about any loyalty programs, none. If you have reptiles or tank critters, might be the place for you. Anything needed for cats or dogs, you probably want to look elsewhere.

Wow, friendly, knowledgeable Sales Associates with great variety of fresh/salt water fish, reptiles, plus, plus...all you need! I purchased angel fish both Koi and Pands for 80 gallon tank along with 3 little fish that create lots of movement & love to play in the bubbles. Big Angel turns bright orange on one side, irredecent on the other...including some photos.

Great store with one of the largest selection of reptiles, aquatic life, and supplies you'll find in southern California. Friendly and helpful staff. Overall decent care for the animals, some husbandry could be improved/updated for a few of the individual species but overall much better husbandry than most pet/reptile stores.

I love going to this store! I am new to fish, and Ben and his team have been extremely helpful in helping me establish my tank! The aquatics department is knowledgeable, efficient, friendly, and give great advice! There is also a good supply of dog food, and a really cool reptile section! Definitely check it out!

I bought an aquarium, little unit, proper ground lay, crickets, and a new companion named precy. It is supposed to grow nine inches maybe more big. She charged me one-hundred-nine dollars and some change. She did not charge me for crickets. My new companion will hopefully meet my previous companions.

Been here many times over the years. They have a great fish area and sell many snakes and amphibians. Snake selection wasn't great this time and I was told it was inconvenient to stock rosy boas. Bummer, drove 25 miles to see their selection. Staff was friendly and the rooster told a great story.

While I don't know other animals well, so I can't speak for them, this store has some products that are dangerous and unhealthy for hamsters, specifically an assortment of hamster balls which have no positive for the hamster, and only serve as torture chambers, so I do not recommend.

My family has come here often for fish. We really enjoy the workers as well as the quality of the fish. Tanks are always maintained and advice is accurate and thoughtful when asking for it. Our favorite place in San Diego even though it is smaller than the huge warehouses.

Friendly helpful staff… Tons of supplies. And if you need a fish girl… Elaine is your gal. She knows everything about fish and is very willing to help you get started if you’re a beginner. They even do free water testing for you to make sure you’re getting your tank right.

I was really disappointed to see an employee drag the giant tortoise they have for sale out just to let a young child ride it and take pictures of it. Seems incredibly unnecessary and cruel. I've come here for a while to get aquarium supplies but I won't be returning.

Service is great, i wouldn't buy pet lizard here. The leopard geckos are kept in tiny areas, don't look happy. Granted, I am NOT an expert. Other places give them more room. I buy crickets here and the service is solid. They have a cricket card that is convenient.
