I hate to post this, as I actually really like the food here, but I just had an absolutely abysmal service experience. I ordered a pre-made sandwich, and waited 20 MINUTES for it to be toasted and wrapped for me to go. After waiting all that time, one employee asked me if I was waiting for anything... I told him I was waiting for a sandwich. Very frustrating. I then waited another 10 minutes and asked if my sandwich would be ready soon. They had forgotten about my order AGAIN. And there were only 3 customers in the store, not exactly an insane lunch rush... and 4 employees working! After waiting nearly half an hour, they apologized to me and then told me they would rush the order... only to then put the sandwich of another customer in the oven before mine, when they had only been waiting a few minutes. They then wrapped up a cold, untoasted TUNA MELT and handed it to me. I was so frustrated I just left without my food or my money. Completely unacceptable service, and I will not be returning any time soon.
Fantastic croissants! But I went from 5 stars to 3 because I had an unpleasant experience with the staff there this morning. There were two staff in the back, but neither seemed to be serving customers. It took a bit for one of them to notice me. He said "I'll be with you in a minute" and then proceeded to wet a rag and to begin to meticulously wipe prices off the board behind him. After a bit of waiting I went back there and told him that Business Practice 101 was to serve the customer first. He then repeated that he would be with me in a minute and returned to wiping the board, to which I said that unless I was served I would be leaving. He then most ungraciously sold me a croissant and informed me that he found what I said incredibly rude. If I were the owner of Petite Thuet, I would up my employee training, because this is the kind of experience that makes customers stay away and write unhappy reviews on Google. The croissant was still lovely, but it came with an unappetizing side order of attitude.
It’s really a bittersweet review. Petite Thuet is a great addition to the neighborhood. As a French regular, the croissants and the bread are among the best in the city(even though the quality and sizes have varied recently). And shoutouts to the Staff that always have been friendly and helpful. But at the same time, everything is shockingly overpriced. Croissants and pastries are more than twice as expensive than in France. 4.95$ for a baguette is almost 3 times the price of a good baguette in Paris. When they don’t run out of products barely 2 hours after opening. I’ve raised my concerns to them, instead they decided to raise their prices… Not everything labeled “French” must be expensive. Don’t be greedy. Sadly, I will now buy my bread elsewhere.
The sign on the door says they open at 9:00am which is already late for a cafe when people like to get coffee before work. Every time I get there at nine they aren’t even open on time with people waiting at the door. I’ve never seen them open on time I work near by so I always end of ordering Starbucks or I will be late for work. On top of that my friend and I went today to get some coffee and lunch she got a salad she opened it up it was covered in mold. So she exchanges it for a sandwich ate half of it to find a fly encrusted in the bread…. She was going to throw up just terrible which is a shame becuase I would love to support a local cafe close to me but I will not be returning there ever again horrible.
Came here on a nice Saturday morning to get breakfast as we live close by. Tried to order an avacado toast and they said they were out of sliced toast. I thought they were joking since it's a bakery. There were plenty of loaves of bread for sale, and they couldn't be bothered to slice them. What a joke for a bakery, I was instead told to order a hot breakfast sandwich with avacado instead so I would at least get something. I took them up on this offer and got served a cold sandwich with practically nothing in it for $9. Won't be back.
Really disappointed in my experience today at this location. Bought a mini almond croissant and a samosa. Both tasted like they had been in a fridge or frozen. The worst part was that the croissant was also stale, hard and dry. After a second bite, and confirming it definitely was not edible, I had to throw it in the garbage. I also didn't appreciate the pushy way a tip was "requested", with the cashier asking for a tip as she turns the computer screen toward me with the tip options displayed. Tackiness on top of poor quality food.
I come here almost every day and am always so impressed but today I was EXTRA impressed. There are two new lovely ladies who made two delicious breakfast sandwiches in under 5 minutes because we were in a rush. And it’s the best one I’ve ever tasted! Thank you for making my morning!

Overpriced!!!!! One only had their baguette so far but I haven’t been too disappointed. Okay bread, nice and crisp. More like a pain de campagne in a baguette shape or baguette artisanale than a classic French white baguette! I wish they offered some vegan pastries - one option even would be nice to have. Their loaves are honestly overpriced. 9$ for a loaf of bread is highway robbery.
**updated review** Still the best croissant in town but a friend (that I recommended going) brought to my attention that the staff is not smiley. Have to admit, totally right. The guy is not rude but not welcoming either unlike most of the small businesses around. Owner and manager should know this is important as it does make a difference ***
Great coffee and so much more! Variety of fresh breads, Jams and sauces, deli, sandwiches and frozen food. Lot’s of delicious pastries, I wish I could try them all! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! There is also a tiny, but cute patio to enjoy your coffee and a treat.
The best baguette in the Riverside and Leslieville area that's not sourdough. Too bad the pastries were stale. They were purchased in the morning when the place opened so they were probably baked from the day before. I will still go back for the baguette though.
Service was terrible. The worker took a whole minute before acknowledging me as her phone was more important. She had the phone to her ear as she was serving me and then burnt my sandwich. Not pleased as I have had far better service there in the past
While I believe in supporting small businesses there comes a time when it’s over the top. A bottle of ice tea and a bite size Patry $13.50!?! Absolutely egregious. It was decent but not memorable. Being gouged was.
Very disappointing delivery experience. Ordered two sandwiches - both were pre-packaged and stale. Club sandwich was missing half the ingredients and included raw bacon so we didn't feel comfortable eating it.
The coffee was amazing and so was the croissant! Reasonably priced and the staff was wonderful! There are also.some great local options in store to take home with you! Definitely a spot worth checking out!
Ordered pain au chocolat and baguettes here. Pain au chocolat was amazing and the baguettes probably the best I've had in Toronto. Better than Cobbs and Ace Bakery for sure. Delicious!
Great coffee and baked goods, personable staff! Breads and sandwiches are freshly made. I only wish they were opening earlier in the morning. 9 am is kinda late for a morning fix :)
The “tourtière” I bought was actually a turkey pot pie. This is the second time I’ve purchased something that wasn’t what the staff described. Delicious but disappointing.
The baked goods are decent, however the sandwiches are always lukewarm when they’re warmed up. Feels like a good safety issue and not very tasty. Disappointing!
Happened to stumble upon this nice joint. Very good drip coffee (they have their own brand) and crispy and light almond chocolate croissant. Local find.
8.50 for a loaf of bread, told it was fresh, was hard as a rock, could barely cut it. One of the worst loaves of bread I’ve ever had. Will not return.
Just an ok croissant. Not worth the hype I kept hearing from people. Emmer Bakery and TASSO Bakery make a way better croissant!
Pleasant experience. Really good quality and ambiance. Quaint and really good staff. Would definitely recommend...!!! :)
Hands down the best baguettes I’ve had in the east end. 1000x better than Blackbird and Cobb’s. Staff are super friendly
Loved the place, Elsa made an amazing coffee and the chocolate croissant was out of this world. Definitely coming back
Cute little hidden gem for wicked baked goods and bread all done in house! Delicious and fresh. A go-to spot for me.
Sandwich was delicious, almond croissant was a tad bit disappointing though. Maybe I was just expecting too much.
Whole area stinks of burned butter thanks to this place. Worst part is the Croissant isn't even good.
Great bread & pastries, but charging $11 for a cold-cut sandwich on sliced bread feels a little much
Lukewarm Americano and a latte that tasted like there was no coffee in it, quite disappointing
the sourdough baguette is excellent and I know my baguettes. Recommended! thank you, happy
Amazing ambience and great bread quality. Must visit for fresh Baguettes and Croissants.
Quite expensive for what you are getting. It was $5 for tea. But they have a bathroom.
Everything I’ve bought there has been amazing. Breads, sandwiches, croissants.
gorgeous pastries. super friendly staff! great addition to the neighborhood.
Great bread, friendly staff, but the croissants were stale and dry
Very good sandwiches and good pastries, some of the staff is rude.
Asking for a minimum $2 tip for a $4.50 croissant. Not classy.
Fresh and tasty goods. What is there not to like?
Cute cafe. I really like the banana bread.
Pastries were excellent!
Astrid is fantastic!!!
Great sandwiches.
Excellent mocha
