From the moment I walked in, not wearing my best either. The lovely ladies here made me feel like I was visiting family. They were exceptionally pleasant and welcoming. It was just what I was needing. The food came out impressively fast and looking better than I imagined. They didn't almost have time to ask me how the first couple bites were because it was so delicious that it wasn't taking long to eat it. This is a place I've always wondered about and since they close at 3 pm I see why they don't stay open longer. They do just fine with these hours. Definitely a must if you haven't and if you already have I'm sure you are still coming often. Even observing other tables they are so kind and polite. I love it here. A must in my eyes. Thanks everyone at Phils Restaurant you made my day! I hope you all have a flawless day !

Visited at noon time. Enjoyed this Phil's more than the one in the SW. Wasn't busy, lots of parking. Service was very good, quick to get our food to us, friendly. Restaurant was clean. Pricey, I had basic breakfast fare (bacon, sausages, ham, eggs, pancake, shredded hash browns, coffee), hub had omelet, milk, side order of chubbies. Portions were pretty good. Total bill almost $54. I'm sure this is on par with other similar restaurants. Food wasn't bad, coffee was pretty good. Won't visit often due to prices but we will be back! Was a nice, relaxing visit.

This location is hit and miss, mostly miss. Don't get me wrong, Phil's as a chain offers a great breakfast bill of fare, but for me it comes down to the service. I frequented this location as it's along my way home. On my own the service has been good for the most part. Other than some occasions when I got someone else's order, and the time I got the completely wrong order. When I go with the family, we haven't had a hit day yet, usually having long waits and wrong items on our plates. Not saying you will have a bad experience here, but I wouldn't plan on this location being the best Phil's dining experience. If you are looking for better service, pretty much any other Phil's location will do. They also changed their opening hours, so I no longer have any reason to visit this location anymore.
Fruit fly in my coffee. Flies in the washroom. A millipede swimming around in the toilet, which I am currently sitting on writing the review. My order was screwed up and brought me runny eggs when I asked for over hard, waitress brought it back but I heard the argument with the cook right in the hallway about who screwed up, unprofessional and awkward. Later I was looking in that same hallway near the kitchen and saw a waitress showing other waitresses that she was taking out a hair from a fresh plate and they were laughing about it. We had to ask for syrup and ketchup for the meal. Food actually wasn't bad but my god this place is bad overall. Prices are high for no reason, there isn't anything fancy about the decor, the food and the service. Never coming back.
This place needs some renovation and upgrades. The k seats are showing real bad wear and need replacing. The rest rooms are very out dated and need some repairs. Even the coffee thermos is so old they don't keep the coffee hot. I have been going to this Phil's since I was a kid and not much has been done to fix this place for 40 of those years. The atmosphere would be much better and more enjoyable if you would bring things up to date besides the prices.

Spoiler alert, I went to a&w immediately afterwards to help my palate forget that awful food. I had a chocolate milkshake and the breakfast special.... Milkshake was basically milk with enough ice cream to change the colour, I took one sip when I got it and that was it, I have milk at home thanks... The sausages were absolutely revolting and the French toast was sub par... I also get the impression that they water down their syrup to save money... The hostess was nice while the server was prompt with quiet job engaging strictly business attitude (which I didn't mind) How did this place get 63% on urbanspoon? Do they force their employees to give positive feedback or have the regulars just never been to a good breakfast place
We decided to try Phil's this morning based on a family members recommendation. Left disappointed. - Chocolate chip pancakes had maybe 3 or 4 chocolate chips in them. - The toast was not done properly. - Their "fresh fruit" consisted of old wrinkled grapes, we asked the waiter and she took them back and brought another bowl of rock hard honeydew and stale tasting watermelon. So much for fresh! - The waitress asked if she can put some chocolate sauce and whipped cream on our pancakes, she failed to tell us that there was a $5 surcharge for it. - The only decent thing was the hash browns. We will definitely not be returning.
I ordered pancakes online and I politely asked for Nutella instead of the 2 hollies I ordered because they didn't have a Nutella in the sauce choices, and it's obvious they do have it on their menu, and even if $4 was not too much I would of appreciate the effort instead of me throwing away 2 holli sauces. It's a waste and I also work in the industry, these days are important to support each other and show gratitude to our guests. The little things mean a lot if you want to keep someone coming back. I spent $40 with you guys and you couldn't give a little Nutella... instead wasted your hollandaise sauce.
way overpriced and feels of an old age home. food is all pre paired and reheated hospital food quality. i felt very ripped off here and wasn't full at the end. Go to Denny's for better food at better prices in a nicer atmosphere. (i'm not a fan of Denny's either but its better.) The prices they charge are more akin to a place like red lobster or moxies. this place reminds me of my grandmas old age home cafeteria. and menu items galore! if you like choice the menu has like over 100 items. but its overwhelming if your like me and have a hard time deciding. also 25$ pancakes for 3x is just ridiculous!
My friend and I were locking our bikes outside when the manager came out and asked us how long we were planning on parking outside his restaurant. We told him as long as it took us to eat breakfast. He a apologized profusely for mistaking us for trespassers and picked up half the bill. Not bike friendly, but the waiting staff was awesome and food delicious. P. S. May I suggest a bike rack for patrons, as I understand that the homeless population is out of control due to the opiod epidemic. Maybe then patrons will not be mistaken as trespassers?

I feel like Phil's has been seriously underrated. Just tried it for the first time for breakfast and it was AMAZING! Our server and the hostess were both lovely, we were seated quickly, and the food came out promptly after we ordered. 2 of us got the build your own omelette combos which were delicious and the third got the eggs benny! Everything was prepared correctly, presented nicely, and tasted absolutely delicious! We couldn't waste any of our breakfasts and left VERY full! I can't believe how good the blueberry french toast was too! Yum! Can't wait to come back :)
The resteraunt as very clean, and as soon as i walked in, it had the feel of a diner, which was very nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and the interipr was a bit worn, but clean. The quality of the food was good, but depended of what you prdered. My girlfriend ordered the chocken strip waffles, which were absolitely scrumtious, whearas i ordered the special, which was a mix of eggs, bread crumbs, and sausage pieces with hollandaise sauce on top of it, which was overcooked. But overall a gpod experience and i would come back
This will forever be our new breakfast spot. Carol, the server, has the best sense of humour and makes our experience worth driving across Calgary for and the manager Raj is very welcoming. We love their eggs Benny. The eggs are always cooked to perfection, which we have found is hard to find, and the house made hollandaise sauce is phenomenal. Thanks for the great breakfast.

Came in with my son one late morning. Unlike other restaurants which place more importance on how sexy your server is, Phil's is the exact opposite, instead focusing on providing quick, effecient and courteous service. From the moment I entered, I was immediately greeted and seated. Coffee refills were completed and my breakfast was served hot and quick. This has been the case several times at this location and it's a pleasure to eat here. Highly recommended for quick effecient service.
Two of us went for brunch, the pan scrambler special was in a small dish and cost almost 14.00 bucks..Humpty's and Denny's full size are less money and taste better. For only two people who shared a pan scrabler had 1 milk and 1 coffee and 2 plain waffles it cost us 46.00 and that did not include a tip. The service was pretty good but the staff talking(more like yelling) back and forth at each other while walking around and working in the kitchen was pretty loud and disruptive!
Carol was amazing! Super friendly and helpful. She suggested the steak and eggs.. And it was probably the best steak I've had in years.. From Phil's!!!!! Go figure! Cooked perfect!! Definitely worth it and I'll definitely go back.

There were awesome and attentive and the food was cooked properly and the food came out fast and the what I ordered I got on my plate and when I finished eating I was full and they weren't shy on how much food they gave you. And the place was clean and tidy and the waitresses were all busy with all the other customers and they didn't stand around with nothing to do even once all of the customers were served with the Food they ordered.
I used to go all the time, every Saturday or Sunday for that matter, this location is the absolute worst of them all, I will never go back. I used to love the gluten free waffle, none of the stores make it good anymore it's complete garbage now. I won't ever go to Phil's again, there is far better choices in the market place , they just don't care about the quality of food they put out,I always get greesey eggs it's quite disgusting.
This place is absolutely amazing. I have been going to this location since I was very very young. Every time the food is consistently amazing. My boyfriend and I will drive from across the city to go to this location. Added bonus is you can get breakfast all day. Every experience seems to be better than the last. And the staff is super nice and attentive. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great place to eat.
Lots of people complain that this place has "old decor" but I don't care. I can appreciate a homey atmosphere because it's rare to see a place that hasn't lost the traditional homestyle way of cooking. Our waitress was great, plus the food was quick and hot when it arrived. Yes, Phil's is a bit pricier than most places but you get what you pay for - in this case, I'll gladly pay more! The potatoes were delicious!
I know this place has been around for a million years, but I got to say breakfast was really quite good. My eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crispy and hash browns were excellent. Service was very efficient and my breakfast came quite quickly, perhaps that's because the place was nearly deserted. I'm not sure why people don't go here anymore, maybe it's the tired decor or the sketchy location.
Went there for steak and eggs. Was 5 dollars more than the place I usually go. It was bad, no flavour, literally not a speck of any seasoning at all, over cooked hashbrowns, and the coffee was burnt which is odd for the machines they have. Only good part was the service which is why I'm giving them a 2. The cooks ruin it for the front staff having to serve such bland food and pass it off for a meal.
Every other week, we do a company breakfast. They do great with large parties. The manager takes personal interest to make sure it goes smoothly. They allow us to pre-order the meals and cut down on wait time. Great service, great food. Haven't heard a complaint yet from the guys

In order of disappointment: - the hollandaise sauce was white and jiggled. - I was served a piece of rotting cauliflower inthe roasted veggies. It was literally black and speckled the way cauliflower rots. - I sent my omelet back because they forgot to leave tomatoes out of it - I have terrible stomach cramps and other symptoms of GI illness 6 hours later. Never again. Ever.
Have been going to Phil's since Sept 3 1966 as we went there for our wedding brunch that day and we have gone back every Sept 3 since. This last visit Sept 3, 2018 for our 52nd anniversary had an awesome waitress named Carol, the food, coffee and service was 5 star treatment. Thankyou for making our day so special. See you next year for brunch again. Tex & MJ Gilbertson.

Not only does Phil's serve the BEST BUCKWHEAT PANCAKES anywhere, but is probably the only restaurant in Calgary that still prepares them! In combination with their traditional beef chubbies, and a little butter and maple syrup, it's a memorable treat that has kept me coming back for more for over 45 years!!!

Although the waitress was excellent, the restaurant experience was spoiled by the state of the outside front entrance. The area was littered with papers, garbage and a multitude of cigarette butts. It was just as disgusting when we visited last fall. There is no excuse for a lazy Manager.
Used to love coming here for breakfast - but for some reason recently it’s not been that good. - watery eggs benny, overcooked ham. - not sure if it’s just a different cook, but yeahh a little disappointed.

The waitresses at this location are rude and act extremely entitled. Their job is to take your order and bring you your food. However they act bothered when you do so. I would suggest going to any other breakfast restaurant in Forest Lawn before going to this one.
I love phils. The staff are so good and nice and helpful. The food is yummy and there are many options on the menu and lots of chance to customize. Good portions, too! Decor is meh but it's kinda like stepping back in time 20 years which is endearing in a way!

Phil's used to be my favourite place for breakfast but not anymore. At one time Phil's had the best omelets ever but they changed the way they make and charge you more for them. Staff were friendly as usual but the overall food quality is going down hill.
The turkey sausage is very tasty. The food is always good. The 90s decor is tired and the waitress looks like she hates life I have had everything from build your own breakfast to hangover poutine to full turkey dinner here. Food is always spot on comfort
When I think of the PHILS Restaurant chain, I think yummy Breakfast's & great Ruben sandwiches with onion rings on the side for lunch. NEITHER was the case here. Im sure they Tried, but the place is dead for a reason... Food doesnt taste right Or good.

If you like good food like mamma used to make, look no further! I try to make it to this place anytime I'm in the neighborhood. Food is exactly as you ordered, no surprises you don't want! Bottomless coffee is a plus, and good! Staff is excellent!
The server was a little gruff. She was nice, but it felt forced and she made a face when I ordered water like it was the worst thing to do. Food was over priced and mediocre. But I mean, it's Phil's so I wasn't expecting anything overly amazing.

I will never come here again. Michelle and Suzanne were the only qualities about this place. With them gone this place is horrid. If you want business bring them back. I will take mine and my families business elsewhere until they return.
Always a spectacular time and supremely good food and very accommodating. They were really good with my niece who is really shy around new people, and she actually talked to our server today. Will always go here over anywhere else
Been coming to this location for 20 years and it has always been consistently excellent. My only complaint is that sometimes they are short staff which can make for a bit of a wait. But the quality of the food makes it worthwhile.
