If you're terrified of dentists, filled with anxiety from the moment you walk in the door, and avoid appointments and treatment for long periods of time as a result, Dr. Bickel and his staff are your saving grace. Dr. Bickel is a dentist I would fly from out-of-state to see. Let me explain: My dental trauma began early (age 3) and ultimately, I found a single dentist I trusted. Even when I moved out-of-state, I would fly back every six months to visit that dentist. He was my dentist from my early teenage years until my early-30s. Much to my surprise, I arrived one day to learn he had retired and his son had taken over the business. His son did not have the demeanor, patience, or compassion of his father and so, I left the office with no cleaning and never returned. Dr. Bickel has all of those qualities and more, so he is also a dentist I would fly back for. After a 10-year dental hiatus, frozen from fear, I broke a tooth in January and knew I would have to face my dreaded fear. I cried nearly the entire time I sat in his office. He and his staff were kind, gentle, and compassionate. They didn't ridicule me for my anxiety, they calmed me instead. Dr. Bickel calmly gave me the news I had been running from for nearly 10 years: my mouth was a MESS and needed a lot of work done. We agreed to split my work into 2 sessions and I scheduled my appointments. When session 1 was over, I was much less anxious or fearful. His hygienist was just as amazing as he is. I walked out after session 1 knowing that my anxiety wasn't cured, but I trusted his office, staff and him. Now, after session 2, I will forever go to Dr. Bickel until he retires and I hope that's not any time soon!

Dr. Bickel is perfectly competent. The hygienist staff, however, is quite careless, rushed, and inattentive. During a routine cleaning, my wife was poked in the face with a sharp cleaning implement. Her appointment was also rushed to the point of being ineffective. During a crown buildup, my hygienist jammed a bite blocker so deeply into my mouth that I was unable to fully close or open my jaw for a week following the appointment. Both hygienists were lovely people, but seemingly either too busy or too poorly trained to do a thorough job. I called the office to let them know that we had a couple of less than pleasant experiences and to ask that we not be assigned the same hygienists in the future. I received no response until the day I returned to have my crown fitted. Despite my request, I was given the same hygienist and Dr. Bickel made an attempt to discuss my concerns while she was in the room which made an uncomfortable situation even worse. He left very little room for me to talk, repeating that he wanted to make sure I felt comfortable while leaving no space for me to actually communicate with him. We were excited to build a relationship with this office and Dr., particularly based on the many positive reviews, but will be taking our business elsewhere and recommend that anyone considering this office do a bit more research making an appointment.

I have only had very good experiences with Dr. Bickel. He's so positive and down to earth, just being around him for a few minutes has a naturally calming effect. There are so many positives with Dr. Bickel and his practice that this is difficult to keep short. One time I called him off hours, on a weekend, right around the holidays, because I had literally broken one of my upper incisors in half at work! I left a voicemail for him, thinking he would call me back during the week, and I was shocked when I received a call from him, in literally, 5 minutes later! He told me to get some pictures of the damaged tooth to him. I did as he instructed. Then, he actually went into his office, and studied my most recent dental x-rays, and wrote up a plan. On Monday I was in his office, and he was working on the prep to repair the broken tooth, and by the end of the week, it was as good as new; maybe even better! I think you get the point from my story that Dr. Bickel not only does a great job with his craft, but he really cares about the dental health of his patients. He goes above and beyond the call of duty, because he cares. In this increasingly cold and impersonal world that value is a rarity. Go visit Dr. Bickel. You won't regret it. Lance W. Bothell

This is my "dental home", the staff there are very patient, and they take good care of you. The receptionist is very helpful and very friendly, she makes sure to call you if you need an appointment and seems to really care when you need something done, especially if you're in pain. She really tries to work with Dr. Bickels schedule, and meet yours at the same time. One of the things that I've always liked about this place is it's small. There's just a few rooms so it's cozy and personable. You can get to know the staff quickly. When you come in, they welcome you with such warm smiles and greet you as if you were a friend or family member. Dr. Bickel is very patient and gentle with everything he does. He lets you know exactly what he's going to do before hand and talks you through the whole process.You can tell he really cares about his patients and goes out of his way to make sure that your teeth are healthy, you're not in pain, and prioritizes the nesscasry things you need done to your teeth. I’ve seen both Dr. Trinh and Dr. Bickel, and both have been great! The front desk staff is also wonderful, especially Kris. The whole team recently helped me through a whirlwind of a crown falling off, referring to a periodontist for crown lengthening surgery, getting a temporary crown, referring for a root canal, and then finally fitting my permanent crown. What an ordeal! But I felt supported and well taken care of the whole way, and very much appreciated when they were able to squeeze me in for urgent appointments. Kris is great with insurance and scheduling, and even called me before an expensive procedure to make sure I had received the cost estimate (I did, but I forgot to call) and make sure I was still on board. It’s patient service like that that makes a difference! I really gave the clinic a run for their money but I never worried about the quality of care.

Every time I come for an appointment all the office staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. Just as important in this current environment, I feel incredibly safe and comfortable when entering the office, due to the safety procedures they have put in place. Dr. Bickel creates an atmosphere of calm, especially for my young children, when you are in the chair and is sure to explain everything that he is doing especially when further treatment is planned. I am confident that all work that is scheduled is because it is necessary and it has always been done to a very high standard. The front office are also generous with their time in answering any questions that I have had and helping me understand insurance and out of pocket costs. I thoroughly recommend them

Tracie at the front desk was very helpful. Even as a new patient, I was able to find an appointment time that worked for me without a long wait. My appointment started promptly. I was surprised that Dr. Bickel did most of the cleaning himself, but it was nice because he has a very gentle touch and the entire procedure was painless. This practice charges quite a bit more than my previous dentist did, but it seemed worthwhile for the comfort and convenience. They explained all of the charges in advance and they offer an annual payment plan for those who don't have insurance that can save you quite a bit of money. They are aggressive about asking for reviews, which I find annoying, but overall, I had a very positive experience.

I just went for my first appointment and am super happy that I finally found my dental office after 9 years of searching in Seattle and they’re right in my neighborhood! They are nice, professional, not trying to sell me services I don’t need, and they listened to what I told them instead of assuming I don’t know what I’m talking about. Grace was the hygienist I saw and she was really good, especially since I have a lot of sensitivity. She worked around it and I felt like I received the best cleaning I’ve had in a long time! They also have a brilliant package for people with no insurance and I don’t know why more practices don’t offer something similar! Big fan of this practice and everyone I dealt with.

After living in Seattle for a few years and having one not-so-great dentist experience downtown I am so glad to have found Phinney Ridge Dental. I’ve had tons of dental work and because of that I’ve been pretty nervous at dentists offices in the past but I feel completely comfortable at Phinney Ridge Dental. Dr.Bickel takes time to explain procedures/options and has never once made me feel like he’s trying to “sell” me on anything. There have been a couple times I’ve needed last minute appointments and Kathleen at the front desk is amazing and she has always managed to squeeze me in quickly. Went in for a routine cleaning and learned I was having a dental emergency. Dr. Bickel worked through the options with me. A few days later, I completed step 1. I admit I got anxious, but Dr. Bickel and staff helped me feel comfortable by explaining everything, setting my expectations and checking in along the way. Everything went smoothly and and I’m ready for step 2 in four months. They run an efficient office — timely appointments. I realized a few days before an appointment that I needed to reschedule and they were quite accomodating. Our young adult daughter goes as well — loves walking to her appointment. Highly recommend.

Everyone hates the dentist. You aren't going to have a good time here. However my time here with Dr. Trinh over a few visits was the least bad that it could have possibly been. I came in at 7am for an emergency appointment, and they were able to extract the offending tooth that morning with great care for my comfort. The follow-up visits to make sure that my healing process was doing the job and tol schedule a filling and cleaning were all as good as can be expected as well, because Dr. Trinh and the staff were all kind and considerate and quick with a smile as well. This is my place from now on to keep my smile at its best.

I recently when to Dr Bickel's office for a cleaning and replacement of a filling. The cleaning was the best one I have had in a long time, the hygienist was thorough, careful, and informative. The filling was also done really well. My tooth had been hurting for months after a different dentist had done a filling and attempted to adjust it. Dr Bickel identified the problem with it and replaced the filling making sure that the same issue was not repeated. My tooth pain has now been resolved! The staff at Dr Bickel's office made me feel taken care of and comfortable. Thanks so much!

I've had a few good dentists and after moving from Arizona a few years ago, I needed to find a new one. Dr. Bickel was the second dentist i came across here in seattle and i'm sticking with him. He has a calm presence and skillful hands (no painful experiences here folks). Its also great that his office is conveniently close to my home neighborhood and has free parking. The front office staff is friendly (and sarcastic at the appropriate times). If your looking for a new dentist, check out this practice. You won't be disappointed and I'd bet you'd stick around.

Dr. Micah Bickel is an excellent dentist. He is kind, knowledgeable, patient to explain details, thorough in his work, and always calm. The entire team at Phinney Ridge Dental is friendly, accommodating, and a joy to see twice a year. I appreciate that Dr. Bickel doesn't plan to retire immediately, so I can expect to keep my dentist for a while. The free parking is a nice bonus, too. If there were a downside, I suppose it would be having to resist the temptation of visiting the Nutty Squirrel Gelato right after a cleaning; it's less than a block away!

Had my first visit at Phinney Ridge Dental after needing to relocate from my family dentist of 10 + years. Everyone from front desk to dental assistant (Fortune!) and Dr. Bickel were extremely kind and professional. In the past I've left my previous dentist with a mouth full of blood because of a rough cleaning but Dr. Bickel and Fortune were so gentle and even skipped over one spot that was extra sensitive. This morning I went to Dr. Micah Bickel office for an emergency appointment with broken crown on one side and loose implant on the other side, (basically can't chew.) Dr. Micah Bickel got me in for that emergency appointment and in two hours fixed both sides, restored my teeth and my smile. Dr. Micah Bickel also took the time to explain my options and the procedures involved in each option. And most important, Dr. Micah Bickel did not try to sell me any service and respected all my choices.

Just switched over to this dentist from a different place in Ballard. Nothing but positive things my first time here. Dr. Bickel & his assistant had great and gentle technique for the cleaning, and there was nothing pushy about their recommendations for my teeth. He's very professional, very calm and the most important thing to me is that Dr Bickle has carried on the philosophy that Dr Dull held...
