"Not sure what they are doing with the baggage claim area"
One of the better and cleaner airports I have been through, and I’ve been through many. There’s plenty of check-in kiosks, porters, and personnel to get you and your luggage on your way. Security-TSA is well run and always moves pretty quickly. There are plenty of great shops , restaurants and Starbucks ☕️(I think there is one in each concourse). The restrooms are huge and have “vacancy” lights, so you don’t find yourself bending over and peering under the doors for feet. The special needs and pet relief restrooms are exceptional. They also have nursing mother stations in every concourse. The layout is practical, in the shape of a long rectangle, with multiple crossover points between the concourses, so there’s easy access between gates for flight changes. If you are like me and take advantage of the long distances between gates and concourses to get in a quick cardio workout/walk, this is one of the best airports for that. You may even get lucky enough to see (and pet) a few of the Sky Harbor “Navigator” ambassadors! One of their few drawbacks is the distance to the D gates from Concourse A or B can be quite a haul, and as of now, there’s no moving sidewalk between C & D, so be prepared to get your steps in if you are headed to Concourse D. Concourse D also has yet to open shops and restaurants, but there is a huge resting and recharging area there. When I’m in the C Concourse, if I have enough time before departure, I actually hang out in D for the peace and quiet and high number of charging ports. There is a tram that can move you between terminals, and it will eventually go out to the off-site rental car area. But for the time-being, that is the BIGGEST drawback for Sky Harbor. Although they have quite a few transport buses to/from the rental car garage, the sheer number of people headed there means LONG lines to board the bus, and a long time between deplaning, luggage pick up (ALWAYS takes forever) and getting on the road to your next destination. Once Concourse D and the Sky Train loop are complete, I think Sky Harbor will be capable of earning 5 ⭐️s, but until then, it’s a soft 4 from this traveler. (Oh! One more thing, PAY ATTENTION if you are driving into and out of this airport. It’s easy to get turned around or take a wrong turn and end up going the opposite direction you intend to go!). Hope this is helpful!
Considering this airport is supposed to be America's friendliest airport that's not exactly the experience we had. When we landed in Phoenix it was very late and we had to go to the rental car area. The first area we went to for the rental cars there was nobody at the desk for the company we used and no clear signs as to where to go. We were not the only ones standing around wondering what to do, then we saw a sign that said we had to go to another area. The attendants were not friendly at all. When we first got down there there was only one attendant working and a long line. We could hear her arguing with the customer at the counter. Then another person showed up and was trying to tell us we needed to buy their insurance because it was Arizona law for an extra $40 a day (we did not end up getting this). On our way back home leaving Phoenix no major issues but again we could hear employees from Frontier arguing with customers at the baggage drop off. They didn't seem to understand when their flight was, seemed like they may have been confused about the time difference but the employees were escalating the situation and raising their voices. We had a small issue at security because there was no clear direction as to what they expected from us and where to go after we showed our boarding pass and id ( I was yelled at to keep moving when I didn't know where to move to and wait for my minor child to get through.) My husband thinks some of the issues don't fall directly on the airport because they're separate entities but they're all within the airport itself so I feel if you're going to say it's America's friendliest airport it should be across the board.
Well. First, the shuttle bus driver dropped us off at the wrong place. Which shouldn't be too big if an issue IF there was proper signage. This airport is severely lacking in directional signage. We figured out pretty quickly that we were in the wrong place. We wandered for a few minutes looking for signage. Finally asked a worker. He said "I think it's in terminal 4". Really?? Anyways we took the bus to the other terminal, found the airline, and finally found security check-in. Got in the lineup and noticed we were the only ones with a bag to check. Had to ask a passenger behind us if they knew where to check a bag. They pointed us in the right direction. We got on the escalator, and it went a floor past the floor we needed. Had to take the elevator back a floor. Then, we wandered down the check-in desks until we finally found our airline. Got in the very short lineup only to wait 20 minutes because computers weren't functioning. Fortunately, after all this, our plane was delayed, so it turns out we had time to spare. But not my favourite airport for sure. They need more signage and information desks. And workers who know basic information.
Having to travel for work I visit numerous airports. I have to say that Phoenix: hands down has the absolute worst tsa agents possible. My sister traveled out of there and told me they were so abusive they had her in tears. I was skeptical until I had the unpleasant opportunity to go myself. They are extremely rude, pushy, and have absolutely no concern for your property. I’m an airport security expert and am ready long before I reach the X-ray machine. Once there I find myself getting yelled at for putting my shoes in a bin and ridiculed for not knowing not to do that. I guess that’s just a phoenix policy since never have I not put them in the bin with all my other property. After I made my way through the scanner, all the bins were stacking up and numerous bins had fallen off the rail with people’s things all over the ground including laptops that were strewn across the floor. (Due to the fact all the shoes weren’t in bins clogging up the rail). It’s funny their slogan is “worlds friendliest airport” what a joke.
Not sure what they are doing with the baggage claim area. Up to 6 flights on one carousel with a lot of people waiting for up to 30 min. Then the monitors update and your carousel is changed to another one. And that one has up to 5 or 6 flights. It's unorganized and added 40 minutes to my travel. It should NOT take 40 min to get your luggage. Outside traffic is ridiculous and a free for all. Just to get out of the airport took 1hr. 1 hour!! To get from terminal 4 to the I-10. There needs to be some type of police presence or traffic control as you had people jumping curbs, driving on the edge of the road and cutting each other off at will. The area for ride share pickup was a total mess. I felt so bad for the people who thought taking an uber etc.. would be faster. The airport should have a better area for pickup that does NOT interfere with the flow of traffic on sky harbor Blvd. This is a real safety concern. By far a disorganized poorly run airport.
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is a wonderful hub airport for American Airlines, plus it serves many other carriers. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has been updated and offers a wealth of wonderful restaurants and shops to make your flying experience more enjoyable. There are several main concourses connected by moving walkways, making it quick and easy to get between gates to catch that next flight. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has many restrooms, indoor pet relief areas, and many other amenities for traveler comfort. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has several American Airlines Admiral's Club locations easily accessible for your comfort and enjoyment. The Admirals Clubs are always outstanding! Attached are pictures from a couple of concourses and the moving walkways. If you find my review helpful, please click the thumbs-up icon Thank you!
Super spacious airport with lots of food options. The Air Train was fast, clean, and each stop on the track was clearly noted with what stop you were at and what was next. My only gripes would be -With the large amount of folks passing through here, it's understandable that there would also be a lot of trash. At each gate that we passed that was very noticeable. -Also, at Terminal 4 around the D gates, there is a lack of seating with power sources. With it being a large airport, I did expect for more places to charge. Maybe that is the wrong expectation, especially since we are sitting on the domestic side, but I have been to smaller, not international, airports that have more areas/seats to charge devices. -Not a huge gripe, but there weren't any priority pass lounges in the entire airport. If you have American priority/British Airways, those are available and have great reviews.
Not too bad airport , nicely designed and organised and especially with the recent skytrain addition makes it so much easier to travel to/from. It used to take forever to take bus between terminals or rental car place, but now it’s actually quite a short and pleasant journey. Compared to other airports security is also very smooth and efficient, there are plenty of check points and it goes really fast. Inside the airport seem to be quite limited food and drink options however with quite a long queues everywhere of passengers trying to get their coffee or food. Finally there isn’t enough seats in gates area.
Phoenix is my hometown airport. Sometimes I like to think of it as doing an addition to your home. I think it has good flow but it may be because I am used to it. A lot of people are very confused here. Believe it or not there are plenty of signs with big letters and numbers and folks are still confused about North and South curbs or door number or simply what floor to go to. I literally have answered the same questions for travelers hundreds of times. And once you show them what is in Plainview the reactions are always priceless. Phoenix has one of the cleanest and friendliest airports in the country.
Nice airport, but signage for transfers from one terminal to the next are laughably inept. There was ONE kiosk where you could scan your boarding pass for help, but then you get weird directions that tell you to walk 6 ft and turn left, then 26 ft and turn blah blah. The area where you actually leave terminal 4 to terminal 3 has nothing showing that and you’re greeted with multiple signs with exclamation marks warning that you can’t come back this way, as if you’re leaving the airport for good. In a sense you are, because, surprise, you have to go through TSA again. Thankfully I wasn’t in a hurry
Beautiful airport. Lots of food options. Staff around facility to answer questions. TSA lines move well. Would have given five stars if not for rental car problems. To get to rental cars you must take a very slow train. It was packed to point people could not get on. Upon return flight I dropped off family and bags. Quickly found out no signs to rental car return. Finally pulled over and did Google Maps...it is a ten minute ride from terminal. If not for Google never would have found rental return. Proper signage should be considered. Train ride back was much better than first experience.
Flying in here for the first time, I think this is a beautiful, well designed, clean, and modern airport. I especially love the art installations placed throughout the terminals and the floors. The layout of the airport is very easy to navigate through and I like the SkyTrain that got me from the terminal to the parking lot for my rental car very quickly. The SkyTrain reminds me of Japanese infrastructure which is very clean and fast. Lines to TSA were very quick and organized and the agents were nice and in a good mood. This is one of my favourite airports now!
Unlike what it's name suggests, this 'harbor' is actually on the ground and not in the sky. Also it is an airport, not a harbor. They lie again! Tbh this place is way too big, too crowded with people and overpriced stores for personal comfort (on layovers), the food is what you'd expect from Phoenix, Arizona, and this airport is the lifeline of the one of the cities with the worst environmental impacts, and least desirable urban planning in the US. But fortunately, you can buy entire stacks of unicorn neck pillows!
I like this airport, this is my first time passing through here. It is my connecting airport. The airport seems like a medium size airport, but it is very easy to navigate your way around it. Some little shops, lots of food places, from grab and go to actual sit down fast food restaurants and bars! Very clean Airport. The staff we interacted with was very kind and helpful. They also offer a room for your flying pets. They can go in there, let them out and stretch their legs and let them relax for a bit!
It was a great experience. The airport was very clean, and TSA was not a problem at all. Oh my return flight Hall. They did not even require us to remove the shoes which was a pleasant surprise. It’s the little things that count. Also, I had breakfast at one of the restaurants there and the food was fresh and delicious and the cost was very reasonable. This airport is very excellent example of a international airport. Excellent customer service, great travel experience.
Phoenix International Airport is a modern Airport in US which serves the growing Phoenix area and surrounding parts of Arizona. Airport and its terminals are well designed with adequate space between the gates. There are good number of restaurants after the security. There are many security gates so it does not get too crowded even in peak times. I liked the interiors of the Airport which was well thought out to reflect the unique southwest geography and culture.
I'm around twice a year there when my family comes to visit, I love this place! It's a nice clean airport , I like to see the airplanes ✈️ landing and taking off! You get the best view from parking deck terminal 4❗️The airport has a lot of little stores (not cheap), but at least they have what you need. The only drawback is that everyone has access to the luggage area , theoretically, everybody could take what they want! I never saw that elsewhere.
I have only been to terminal 4, but I have been there multiple times at gate A. I usually fly American . The airport is clean. They have few places to get drinks, snacks, food or to buy Arizona souvenirs. I usually wait for my flight at the Admirals club. There are occasional weather delays in the summer during haboob and monsoon season . It is not the fanciest or the prettiest airport I have even been to, but I have watched so many spectacular sunsets there.
Decent airport but the bathrooms were nasty and a tsa agent had a tough guy complex. They also don’t have the proper scanning equipment for declaring a firearm so instead of signing a red ticket and going on my way I was escorted to a room where a guy swabbed all my luggage interior and exterior before even opening the gun case then did the same for that. Took an extra 30 mins to do but the tsa agent that escorted me was nice and helpful.
Nice, clean and relatively quiet airport. There are not a great food options but easy to get in and out. Nice shopping options for souvenirs to take back home Staff was friendly as well and helped us checkin to gate very quick. Baggage claim was very helpful when we arrived assisting us with an issue we had with our small bag. The Metro Sky Train was easy and convenient to take from the airport to our hotel in downtown Phoenix.
I had a fantastic experience at Sky Harbor Airport, where the service was top-notch and incredibly fast. The staff were friendly and efficient, ensuring a seamless check-in process. Additionally, I was impressed by their quick response and efficient towing services , making it easy for client to not delay stopping other cars to move. Sky Harbor Airport sets a high standard for customer satisfaction. Highly recommended!
My experience was wonderful it this airport. I especially enjoyed the quick, clean ride on the sky train from terminal three to the rental car Center. Easy directions on how to get where you need to go and amazingly clean. I really appreciated the TSA experience. It went very quickly getting through thanks to Clear! This experience made me realize I will definitely renew my membership which I was considering dropping.
Very smooth and easy process to get around to do what you need to do and get where you need to go. Lots of shops to stop and look around in if you need to kill time or get things you want or may need. They even have charging doc tables and plug ins all around. Most employees are kind and helpful if you need something. Haven’t had a bad experience yet usually look forward when having to use Sky Harbor to fly.
This airport is very easy to navigate on your own. If for some reason you are not able to do that they have wonderful staff who will guide you along the process. There are numerous places to shop and eat if you arrive early and get hungry. They have the usual airport snack stops but also many restaurants. While the terminal is massive it is laid out in such a way so it does not get congested or confusing.
Busy airport. The terminals are always busy. This airport is a goodhub. I flew with Breeze airways to hartford. The airport has a good selection of resturants. Some of the chain resturants like panera, shake shack have long wait times during lunch and dinner times. Recommend trying some of the other restaurant if you are in a hurry. Ample restroom and everything was well maintained and clean.
The airport is convenient and was very easy to access. Everything was nice and clean. Uber picked us up and dropped us off right at the door which was very convenient. We had no issues with security getting in. There were plenty of vendors and things to see in the airport although I'd hate to get stuck there for an extended amount of time. I hope to be able to come back through there someday!
Sky Harbor is the easiest airport I've ever used. It's convenient to major freeways, has tons of parking, large dropoff and pickup areas, and security screening is a generally fast process because any of the four screening areas in terminal 4 let's you connect to any of the gates. I'm traveling on Christmas and was in line for less than 10 minutes. Great airport...and the WSJ agrees.
Really well designed airport. They claim to be America’s Friendliest Airport & while I’m. Kt sure about that - it definitely is one of the most efficient airports. The flow of people is constant yet theres no bunching or bottle necks. Plenty of lounges & theres food options a plenty. Washrooms are clean & spacious. Would recommend flying through PHX for sure.
Boy I miss the days where you could have drinks and dinner at the airport while waiting for someone to arrive. It's time for us to roll back the restrictions. Wow 1st hour parking $4. I still make a point to park on the top level so I get the best view of phoenix when at the airport. #AlanTrippAz #PhxMetroHomes #AlanTrippRealtor #REIBuysFreedom
The airport is very clean. There are some nice restaurants to choose from. The problem is that the restaurants do not take account for evening travelers. They are either out of a dish or they try to scrape the dried out food and serve it to you. Inventory is key, especially during high travel seasons. Airport 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food 2 stars
So you have a layover and want to sit down and get some work done? Nope; this airport has very limited seating and can't be ada compliant. On the bright side it is the perfect playground for identity theft so hopefully that issue will shine some light on the lazy or inconsiderate design of this airport. Safe flight everyone!
Clean and cool! The airport temperature inside feel like 72f which is a comfort level despite Phoenix day-time heat. I am comparing this airport to narita, japan airport in summer which you will be sweating in duty free shopping area. Phoenix airport could upgrade plugs for 2 out of 8 works, and add more charging stations.
I wanted to share an experience I had at the La Madeleine sandwich place in the airport. It was late and I was exhausted and hungry. Guy and KeShawn were not only friendly, but funny and accommodating. The food was delicious and overall, it was a great experience. The airport is lucky to have these 2 young men on staff.
The Southwest check-in process was smooth, and getting to security was a breeze. Security line was pretty slow considering it was 5:45am. TSA was pretty pleasant and did what they could, however, definitely get there at a minimum of 1.5 hours ahead of time on non busy days and definitely 2 hours on busy travel days!
C-gate isn’t bad but it gets crowded quickly. The restaurant selection isn’t bad for only having a few spots but overall the selection is better than some of the other terminals that only offer Southwest. And if you get there early enough main concourse is expansive and offers other great dining and souvenir shops.
Flights are reasonable in price to a variety of locations. The terminals are spacious with plenty of shopping. There's even a kids play area while you wait. The seats have USB charging ports and the bathrooms have changing stations. They nickel and dime you on upsells but that's the nature of the travel industry.
The airport is very nice with plenty of food and beverage options. I did find that when I made it to terminal C for my flight, with a full house, it is a bit cramped, but that is the case nowadays with some many people flying. Flying into the valley from the East is quite scenic for a flatlander from Florida.
My round trip flights ✈️ were both on time. The signages were clear and visible. The restrooms as well as the inside of the airport were clean and well maintained. Great customer service despite how busy it was. Love the modern look. They have a Shake Shack here! Yummy! Overall awesome airport
The D gates in terminal 4 are nice and new. The flooring is smooth and makes it easy to pull luggage across them. C gates however are carpeted and make it difficult to pull luggage. Additionally, it is difficult to find charging stations in the D gates area (especially outlets next to seating).
I didn’t expect a busy airport, fast trucks everywhere to get you to the gate, Starbucks on terminal C1 and B, also coffee Pete’s on terminal A, I miss my flight here, but for someone who travels it happened many times, it gave me times to discover this airport and get a nice parfumerie
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Clean Well lit facility with a modern feel. Plenty of little stores to shop in and places to catch a bite. While the building is clean and nice , the men’s restroom floor was disgusting. These should be cleaned at least hourly - it’s a guy thing.
Quick and easy to get through security. I wouldn’t say it has the best food options but I found something. Not too crowded either so easy to find a seat. There were also charging stations readily available so made it easier for me. Not the most up to date airport but did the job.
It was my first time in Arizona last week. I was really impressed with "Americas friendliest airport". Super clean, polite staff, departing the airplane was seamless, checked bags came on the carousel quick ,very spacious, did not feel crammed or hectic and A/C was on point.
With the holiday season in full swing, all the ticket counters and kiosks were busy working and keeping up with traffic. Even the TSA security went smoothly with many agents opening lines to move traffic through as quickly as possible So far everything is working great
Took American Airlines and Southwest out. Airport had a smooth and easy transition in and out. Lines in TSA moved swiftly. Pick-up and drop off wasn't crowded. Picked up at 10:00am, left at 5:00pm and there was plenty of room to pull up to enter and exit the vehicle.
We arrived early in the morning on a weekend and the airport was almost empty. First impression, quite clean but a bit small compared to other international airports. For a newbie like me, it was very easy to navigate both inside and around thanks to the signs.
December 23rd, 5 am for a 6:50 am flight. Freeways were clear and fast. Low traffic on Sky Harbor Blvd. Pulled right up to Southwest airlines curbside for drop off. Only 2 people ahead of us at curbside check-in. Plenty of airline personnel help at check-in.
BIG airport! Always clean. I prefer to travel earlier in the day. I have found this airport is busier in the afternoon and into the night! LOVE the sky train super fast, very convenient, and easy to navigate. Good food too! Always stop at Cowboy Ciao! …
Nice and beautiful airport. It's easy to reach the airport. At Denver airport, they allowed a laptop to keep in check in luggage while at this airport they don't allow laptops to keep in luggage. I need to carry a heavy laptop while boarding a flight.
Inside the airport everything is good and also a quick security check but the only complaint I have is seating they don't have enough seating near gates and always have to stand and outlets won't work most of the time. Terminal roads are a
Nice hub for American. The airport is easily navigable. The gate area could be bigger but it’s not terrible. Long distance between terminals so plan accordingly. Decent selection of restaurants and airline lounges. The rental car facility
First time at the Phoenix airport and was happy with how smooth everything went. It was quick to get through security and easy to find my way around the airport. Staff was friendly and airport was clean. It's Superbowl week in Phoenix!
Phoenix Airport sets a remarkable standard as the best airport I've visited. The American Airlines lounge offers breathtaking scenery, creating a serene atmosphere for travelers. The staff consistently goes above and beyond, providing
Only used terminal 4 in the American Airlines concourse. My experience as someone who had to also pick-up people was that this airport is dreadful. The pickup area can be confusing if you are not familar with it. While the dining and
Used the parking spot south to get dropped at my respective terminal and was smooth from there. Easy and quick progress through security and to the terminal. Great people around and had no issues answering any questions
While here two people had their bags stolen. There was a health issue with someone at a bar. Trash everywhere. Coffee cups on the ground. This is America's friendliest airport apparently. Pretty sunsets though
Super clean airport and lots of working charging outlets. Friendly help desks everywhere. Clean and safe bathrooms. Prices are airport high as usual on food she gifts. Not too crowded for a Friday evening.
Very big, not too crowded airport. Arriving at the airport was quick and easy, but the departing flight was delayed for 2 hours. This international airport is much nicer than others around the country.
Southwest hub so be prepared for a lot a people in your gate area if flying Southwest. 3 stars because of the dated wait area and cramming 5 gates into an area for three. There is food close by.
Decent, efficient airport. Security only took about 15 minutes late morning on New Year's Eve. Helpful staff and a reasonable number of food options for its size, unless you arrive late at night
Big big nice place. Tons of taxis no need to call one just go outside and they are all there waiting for you. They also have Peet’s coffee and the history of flight attendants in the airport.
came a little bit early, so we got there before it was too crowded. southwest always comes through with excellent passenger care. wonderful experience overall, hope to fly with them again
Large terminal but signage are well placed and easily understandable. Many food offerings as well gift shops. Train to Car rental so easy to find. Dropping off to terminal just as easy.
The airport is huge! The international terminals are well-placed, but there could be more restaurants for those of us with layovers. It's also well-located and has plenty of parking.
This airport is clean and there are lots of food options. Everything is expensive. Bathrooms are clean, didn’t have to wait in a line. Not too busy for it being Christmas weekend!
2023-September Signage can be improved. Food variety in a gate can be improved. Waiting benches have electronic sockets available. Security lines were decent. Have a great flight!
It was a good airport, although it was terribly hot. I cant really blame them however, as it is Arizona. They have many restaurants, even though they are a bit overpriced.
I've done a good deal of travel. Sky Harbor is a nice airport. People are friendly, and it is easy to navigate. I'd give it a fifth star if they had a priority lounge. ;)
Big airport is a little confusing but no food vending selections. Need food vendors... this airport is very clean and modern looking beautiful. At least the AA terminal
Most friendliest airport I’ve ever been to. It’s super clean with the views of the mountains. Just rude TSA on my flight to Denver but I mean that’s everywhere. …
Easy access airport. Many airline choices from Alaska, Southwest, American , United, Delta, sun…. Something, frontier etc. clean airport and security line is fast
One of the cleanest airports I’ve been to but there’s a lack of restaurants and shops since the pandemic wiped out about half of them so wait times can be long.
Easy airport to fly in and fly out. I especially love their accessible bathrooms which include a shower. Good to know when you’re flying the long haul flights.
This is my all time favorite airport. Easy access good flow of traffic and rarely any difficulty getting around... America's friendliest airport for sure
Flew Southwest. Great airline truly enjoyed the boarding process. By the time we got to the baggage claim bags were already there. Very fast.
Easy to navigate, good signage everywhere. Not a great variety of shops and cafes but enough. No duty free shops, which was surprising.
Awesome airport with lounges, shopping, restaurants, bars and pet relief stations. Easy to navigate with a good layout too!
First time in this airport, the airport is clean and nice, and the signs to get to the locations are very clear.
By far one one of the best airports I’ve been to! Clean, easy to maneuver, efficient tsa and easy shuttle train.
