Finally got to try pieminster today and the experience was mixed. The staff were friendly and accommodated us adding a few extra people to our booking. When we went to place our food order with our drinks we were told they would take drinks first. It wasn’t until our drinks came out that they took our food order, this added to the wait for food. We were a large pre booked group, the chef worked hard to get our orders out together but with 13 plates it took time, they really could have done with help plating up from other staff, it wasn’t very busy in the restaurant. When food arrived at the table it was lukewarm; mine being the last served had cold gravy (my pie was part of a second batch so was nice and hot) - for some reason they plated everyone’s gravy first so it was sat on the side for quite some time to the extend a skin had formed on the top. They were quick to replace mine and a few others gravies when we flagged it was cold. The food itself was lovely, the mash creamy and smooth, the kale salty, Yorkshire puddings fluffy and the gravy was rich and delicious. The rosemary potatoes were crispy but cold and dry. The main event itself the pies are amazing, full to the brim and so tasty. Would I return? As a group no, whilst challenging I’ve never had food served cold before. As a booking with a friend or two yes, the pies are worth it and the meal is good value for money.

Starting off, the person behind stacking all the food was a genius! Stopped here for lunch with my partner and we were both so surprised by how tasty the food was. Both of us being students, this was an affordable treat to which we both still talk about. Stacking everything on the plate was amazing and with the gravy coming on the side you were given the choice to how much you used. All the flavours worked really well together and made for a very good meal. Service wasn't the most polite with an attitude at times and the atmosphere was rather poor but that could also be due to us going on a late Sunday afternoon.

There are plenty of pie options, so anyone is welcome to eat and all of them sounded amazing. I was very tempted to take a pie home as you were given the option to buy one for oven use.

A solid 4. Good food, nice selection of pies, but you could argue it was a lot for a pre-made pie whacked in an oven. Variety of sides were a bit thin on the ground and unimaginative. You'd get near enough the same meal if you made it at home, was looking for that sense of something extra that you might get by eating out. Choose filo pastry if you're looking for the option with the least amount of saturated fat which may be due to personal preference or dietary requirements. Friend's cocktails on the 241 deal went down well.

If a friend is with you that may not like pies or can't eat pastry due to the high fat or gluten or dairy content, they may find it difficult. An alternative main option to pie could be beneficial to have. Understandably this is a pie restaurant, but most restaurants are now able to provide an alternative main to cater for other individual's preferences.
Wheelchair accessibility
Not brilliant.

Great comfort food served by inconsistently friendly waiters with a really warm, uplifting atmosphere. Instead of ordering any actual starters, we tried all 4 pastries and ordered 2 of the loaded fries and onion rings. While the pastries were a bit of a let down, although this could be because we split each one in 4 so I didn't get a proper taste, the fries were absolutely amazing. The onion rings were nothing spectacular, but they weren't bad. The (obvious) highlight were the pies. Each having ordered our own pies, I ended up eating all of mine and another 2 halves. They were all great, but my personal favourite was the Moulin Rouge. Be advised, since we didn't notice, it comes completely covered in fries with cheese and fried haloumi, which were also spectacular. For dessert we tried the hot toffee pudding, which was the perfect ending to an amazing meal.

(Gluten-free review!) We’ve been in England for a week, and my husband and I agreed this was the best meal we’ve had the whole trip (and we’ve had some amazing ones!). I went myself for lunch then brought him back for dinner the same day. I had the gluten-free Moo (steak + ale) pie for lunch and the free range chicken (chicken, ham, and leek) for dinner. He had the non-GF Bleu Moo (steak and ale and blue cheese). WOW. Separate GF menu available, 2 for 1 drinks, absolutely delicious.

Fantastic options for gluten-free. GF pie is practically a unicorn and you cant find it anywhere, but they have it here!

Caught an hour long bus journey. Turned up for my pre-booked 6.45 table this evening with my mother, to be told my booking hasn't worked and therefore there are no tables available for us. Glancing around seeing many vacant tables, the server seemed to think our table was booked for 6 people but upon telling her it was only booked for 2 people, she was uninterested. We expressed concern that they had taken our debit card details for the booking, to be told "it's ok we will cancel the booking, so you won't be charged" well, surely that is stating that we did have a booking that you just could not fulfil. Bitterly disappointed. We were really looking forward to trying Pieminister for the first time. Sadly let down, and intimidated by aggressive waitress.

A little underwhelmed, first time visiting food was good but let down by the service. Highlights: Mud Pie Sundae - Was really nice! Fries Low-light: Having to ask for water 3/4 times Sundaes comming out about 10 minutes apart from each other Took a little while for drinks to come also I'd usually forgive most of the above if it were a busy night. But its only a small place and it wasnt exactly rammed. Not going to be rushing back to but the food was decent cant really bash that. Will give this a rating of 3 stars as I think on a differnt night the experience might be a little better.

We booked a table with our two young boys prior to watching a show at the hippodrome. Unfortunately it was almost an hour before our drinks even arrived. Food came after about an hr (and was delicious might I add). The tables were sticky and unfortunately 1 of the 2 toilets were out of order and the other blocked entirely. Just felt a bit disappointed which was a shame as the actual food was lovely, but service left a lot to be desired!!

Nice chicken and mushroom pie with chips. My husbands mash was cold and his onion rings were overcooked and staff was informed, took them but never replaced. The service was poor and slow, pretty understaffed. My 2 years old was given a glass of drink unsurprised accidently knocked over and smashed onto floor, it was partly cleaned up but mot rest under her highchair and by my feet. Luckily nobody got hurt. No refund on husbands food sp it was £60 pretty overpriced!

Wonderful little place which serves great pies, as well as a variety of other dishes and drinks. Pieminister on Broad Quay (Bristol) has a bit of an American diner feel, with the neon signs and unfinished decor. Seating is indoors and outdoors. Service is fantastic and the portions are generous. Try the salted caramel milkshake if you’re into shakes and smoothies. It’s made with syrup but the texture and taste are fantastic. Their sauces are really great as well, and the bill comes with bullseyes sweets - which is a particularly nice touch. Reasonable prices and an easy, friendly atmosphere.

Wow! I recently spent a week in Bristol and ate here three times! The.pies were completely delicious and so - obviously I came back another two times! The staff was wonderful- especially the French manageress! The atmosphere was just fantastic too! Thank you for making my week in Bristol so special!

Great food. The moolan rouge pie and slaw was awesome. I don't get what people like so much about the mashed peas but they were ok. The spicy ketchup is awesome too. They seemed a little understaffed for how busy they were but I think it speaks to the quality of food. People are willing to wait and deal with overworked staff for good food.

"Come here bc they give you little pies; and I mean who doesn't like little pies. You should definitely get the sticky toffee pudding with custard, which tastes amazing. Another great thing is that everyone is really friendly and they have great songs. It's a good place to eat."- says American boy. " For the kids out there they have a surprise; you get some ice cream after your meal!" - says American girl. "It's a great place. Don't worry!" -says littler American girl. Would highly recommend the "Dear Santa" with venison and red wine.

Everything about our evening here was amazing! The server was super helpful and friendly there was a lot of us ordering and she made sure to repeat everything back to us. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. The server did give us her name on the receipt but I have lost it but she was amazing!

Delicious pies! They have a variety of fillings and I would recommend trying some different ones as they are all tasty! The price is very reasonable ad the pie size is pretty good. I think one pie is not a full meal but two pies is too much so definitely get some starters or sides. The parsnip and kale fritters with vegan mayo was really good. Would definitely recommend Pieminister!

Gorgeous food! Was craving good English food so badly and Pieminister hit the nail on the head. Ordered the break with red wine pie wit fries and extra gravy (delicious). We have been a few times now and each time the food has been great, chips are the best we have had! The pie is always nice and the gravy is lovely (could do with a little more of it) student discount is accepted which is great and was 25% when we last went, mash is nice but comes underneith the pie!

I’m so full! The pies are great warming comfort food, especially for a cold Sunday afternoon. The service we received was brilliant. They seem to genuinely care about their customers and our waiter went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice meal. I have an allergy to nuts and she was particularly helpful with that. Nice atmosphere, reasonably priced, good playlist and great service. I will definitely be going back.

  • Nikian Aghababaie

Tiny portions. Understaffed. Overpriced. Gluten free pie was absolutely tiny compared to a normal pie and 50% more expensive without any pastry. Staff were lovely but incredibly slow service. Waited 10 minutes just to ask for the bill. Table was wobbly, environment was very loud. Food was tasty but everything else was severely underwhelming. Struggled to see redeeming features - don't think I could justify going back.

I went with friend's to a bottomless brunch, we were served and took care of by Joe. The food was yummy, the bottomless drinks were varied and Joe ensured our glasses were full. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We all would recommend a bottomless brunch here, it is reasonably priced, dietary and health needs are met, Joe and the team were great.

If you like pies it's pretty good, but the overall experience is nothing special. Even tho it's still in the family you get those chain vibes, that could be improved with better service from the waiters / waitresses and a bit more passion in aesthetically preparing the pies on a plate. Always good for a pie with friends or colleagues. Vegan options available. You also find Jamaican Patties :)

  • Spike Cotter

Sloooow during my weekday lunch visit. Took about 40 minutes from sitting down to getting our food. They had a large party but the place was only half full. Its a pie, not made to order. The pie was ok. Crust was crispy but also tough. Potatoes and peas only just warm. Only two gluten free pies today—vegan and steak. They usually offer three. Everyone has their favorites. This is not mine

Visited here a few time’s now and each time the food has been fantastic. Great for people who need gluten free or vegan too. I especially love the 3 small plates deal which includes halloumi bites, pigs in blankets, pork scratching etc. The price is also really good for the size of the meals!

Good pies! Had the Kate & Sidney, extremely tasty and oddly got better as you made your way through the dish. Little disappointed by the desert - Lemon Meringue Pie, with the sauce being over powering and the meringue was powdery and not chewy. This aside, friendly staff and would recommend!
