UPDATE- June 2023, so this gym really don’t care abt our safety. I honestly don’t want this gym to close but that’s where it’s headed. As I was leaving today a homeless man was coming up. I ask the young woman at the front if the homeless is a member here. She said , what homeless man. I said, he just walked passed you how are u asking me. They really just don’t care at this place. The ones who were actually good employees have left and I don’t blame them. UPDATE 2023- I stopped going for a few months. I recently started going back and happy to see they have new machines and fixed the holes in the roof that used to leak when it rains. Unfortunately due to some of these members, a few of the machines are already OUT OF ORDER. PLEASE DONT BE AFRAID TO PUT UP SIGNS ASKING MEMBERS NOT TO DESTROY THE MACHINES. I APPRECIATE management fixing the place up; BUT my only gripe now is that the employees are cleaning when we are working out. Please have them clean BEFORE members arrive. 2 STARS ……………………………………………… July 2022 review JUST BAD. Three years ago I rated them 4 stars And now, this 1 star is just for location. EMPLOYEES- rude, unclean and Late some weekends with no apologies SPACE: 40% of machines aren’t working, while this is due to some customers, I believe tighter rules should be enforced RULES: speaking of; they don’t enforce them. They have a sign that says no personal trainer, yet people come with theirs taking up two and three machines without consideration of others CLEAN- oh my god this place is grimey now. Often times there’s only one spray bottle and paper available for the whole place. It’s just bad. The manager Yaramiah is no prize. The owner needs to fix this. Better and cleaner options are available
Probably the worst location I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve been to at least 100 Planet Fitnesses. Machines that were broken three years ago (torso rotation!) are still broken in exactly the same way. Air circulation- minimal. The culture is “I can circuit however many machines I want and now they’re all unavailable at peak hour, and I’ll also stare you down for good measure…” Locker rooms are decrepit. I drive or take the subway to avoid the only PF in walking distance. Thankfully Remsen and Bed Stuy are much, much, much better gyms. This one’s kinda gross. Edit/response- Can the manager install fans on the ceiling or at least crank the AC up to “not sweltering” on a summer afternoon? This is a Planet Fitness, not some kind of hot yoga place exclusively for those young and healthy enough to withstand it… Edit #2- Today there are two spray bottles in the entire gym. Two. One is empty. And one is a few drops from empty. Everyone working at the moment seems really nice. But this gym is getting way beyond ridiculous.
I want to first say that the employees are always friendly and work hard to keep the gym clean. Never bring valuables to the locker room. They will be stolen. I learned the hard way last night when I came back to my locker after a workout to find my lock broken and all of the $90 stolen from my wallet (thank you thief, for leaving the cards and the wallet). There was a guy behind me that suddenly realized his locker was broken into as well. Talking to the employees about it, they made it seem like it is a common happening at this gym so beware. Overall, I think the gym is crowded, yet clean, and management could be more proactive in the maintenance of the gym in general. Theft in the locker room being a common occurrence is unacceptable. I was also a little peeved when I signed up last year and having a $15 late fee charged a week thereafter due to a misunderstanding with my account number from the employee signing me up. It took months of pursuit, but in the end they refunded me.
I’ve been a member of a number of gyms in Brooklyn and Manhattan and I have found most to be pretty satisfactory, including this branch of Planet Fitness. It does what it is supposed to do — providing a clean and generally well-equipped workout facility at an inexpensive price. If I have any complaints it has to do with people who use hundreds of pounds of weights on machines and then leave them for the next person using the machines to remove. Sometimes I have just skipped using, say, the leg press, rather than spend time removing the heavy plates that have been inconsiderately left behind. I wish that something could also be done to stop folks who use elliptical machines rather than the locker room to hang their coats and jackets while they workout. But with summer coming, I suspect that will be less of a problem in the coming months. Overall, however, I find this branch to pretty much meet my needs.
I’m a “Black Card” member who uses locations across Brooklyn, and Manhattan, including this location. Today I was refused entry by “Yaramyah” (wouldn’t provide a last name) who I assume is a manager or MOD. I provided him with my member contract, which he refused to look at or accept, since their computer couldn’t locate me by my member ID. I won’t go into the issue of mold and obvious lack of cleaning, since I put up with these issues regularly here, but to be refused entry is inexcusable, at any member level, but especially as. The complete lack of customer/member service is disgusting, I won’t be going back and will be canceling my membership. I’m not a ratings/review person, I leave that to ppl with more time than I usually have, but people deserve to know about this kind of treatment.
If I could give no stars I would. It was the worst.. open my membership on a fri and cancelled it on a Tuesday. That says it all right there. Keep in mind I did not start until that Monday. It's disgusting, my husband said his bathrooms had piss everywhere and dirty and it was a hang out spot, everyone came to hang out in locker room. For me it was dirty bathroom and equipment. It felt like I was going to catch something. No one cleans the machines to get on or off.. gross. The machines are so close to each other I literally felt the warm breathe of the person running next to me. This place is icky and gross . I will be contacting corporate to see about our refund. It was not our fault we had to leave and go to blink which I have to say is a breathe of fresh air and I love
For $26 a month I am getting everything I need out of this gym. I almost always get a stationary bike without having to wait. The staff is sweet and open to questions. They might not get to things right away but if you ask for something (ie: replacing the empty paper towel dispensers), they will readily fix it. The mask situation during Covid has been a little precarious with other members. The staff does not approach members who are wearing their masks incorrectly. I try to keep my distance and do my workout quickly but I would prefer that proper mask wearing was encouraged more in the gym. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the convenience and energy at this location.
The dumbbells and smith machine's get busy even at non-peak, but machines and cardio equipment are pretty much always available in all varieties (maybe short waits here and there). Good culture from both staff and patrons. A couple of machines are out of commission, but those are redundant and won't really impact anything you want to do. People use the cleaning supplies diligently, and the dispensers are restocked quickly (I've never seen more than 1 of the 3 dispensers in the weight area out of solution/paper towels. The value is pretty stellar. Being so close to prospect park, the train, and a large grocery store make this a fantastic setup.
I just moved to the neighborhood and was excited to check this PF location out, hoping it might be my regular gym. I was told at the front desk that it would cost over $20 just for a one-day pass to check it out. That's more expensive than the *monthly fee* (though they charge you $59 + that fee to sign up). Called Blink nearby and they immediately gave me a one-day guest pass for free. Maybe this is longtime Planet Fitness policy. But it feels an awful lot like gatekeeping to charge $20 to anyone who simply wants to give the gym a look. Hope they reconsider; in the meantime, I'm headed to Blink.
Honestly the gym is pretty decent for price. My main issue is management. I requested to deactivate my membership and they didn’t process it and continued to charge me. I called and reminded them and requested to speak to the manager to get refunds since there was documentation that I had requested. I wrote and called several times to discuss the refund and was ignored and never received it. It’s not that much money but made a difference to me and was disrespectful the manager couldn’t bother to contact me back about my request. Get what you pay for I guess.
Great facility with ample space sunlight and overall cleanliness. Gym is never packed or overcrowded. Reason why I give it 4/5 stars is because I do notice that the weight section gets used a more than the cardio section but the abundance of cardio takes up a large percentage of the overall gym floor. I feel like if this gym just cut the cardio machines in half it would really use the space wisely and would be tailored more towards the members/users of this particular gym and allow for ample mobility throughout of the weight section.
I really enjoy coming to this location. It is much nicer than other locations I've been to. However, I've noticed that there is a lack of maintenance at this location lately. There are many treadmills that do not work or are off balance. The paper towel dispensers are also in need of attention. The majority of them are broken or jammed, and the others are often in need of re-filling. Members are expected to keep the machines clean, but it's hard to follow this rule with poorly functioning cleaning supplies. Seems to be understaffed.
Not allowed to workout until you show vaccination card. Wasted gym membership. I wonder if they refunding guest their memberships that have no vaccination card ? Of course not they are still conveniently charging you. This is one of those gyms where you say to yourself if I pay 10 or 20 dollars a month I won't feel guilty if I don't go to the gym then you quickly realize what a dummy you are for even considering it. It's a college kids gym in my eyes, or people on a serious tight budget but not worth the headache. Use another gym
It is wonderful to have a nice, new gym to work out in. Great space with lots of machines and weight equipment. Even at busy times still plenty of machines open. There could be more space dedicated to stretching- not a terribly large area for this. Only complaint is that they need to get the water situation figured out. Water fountains only work like 50% of the time- bring your own bottle to avoid being caught without water for your workout. Hopefully this will get worked out as they finish up the rest of the construction.
In each of the three times I've been there in the past week, more than 50% of the members were not wearing masks at all. On one occasion three of the cleaning stations had no paper towels and one had a broken spray bottle. The overwhelming majority of the lockers in the men's locker room are broken. The staff, however, is always professional and courteous, the equipment is well-maintained, and there's rarely a wait to get on a machine, given that this location has multiples of each machine.
When I first started around the new year 2021… it was pretty clean and staff was always present…. In past few months several staff have disappeared …. Gym is dirty, trash cans overflow, staff stays at desk downstairs at front desk…. There have been several incidents with guys almost coming to blows …. and I am probably gonna cancel my membership…. I’m increasingly feeling more unsafe…. Not to mention there are not enough benches ( which leads to guys arguing) and equipment is hella old !!
Be aware - all of this positive reviews are FAKE! What view on the threadmill what smoothie bar are you talking about? This is the most DIRTY and underequipped gym Ive ever been to. Mold in all the showers, they never clean - it stinks there. Half of machines dont work and they wont fix them for months. Management is a scumbag and will charge you extra fees. There is no towell service and the vending machines are alwats empty. Massage chairs and beds are broken! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.
Been going to this gym since it opened a couple of years ago. Its decent enough and its maintained as far as cleanliness and machine operation. For me at times the gym is too hot, incubator for germs, it's a discomfort and disgusting, I'm guessing it's why some of the members come half naked all the time because it's so hot. The workers are walking around in Tshirts adjusting the temperature for their own comfort while I'm running on a treadmill with heat blasting in my face.
One of the biggest gyms in NYC or Brooklyn. Massive amount of equipment ranging from cardio to weight training. Free but limited classes. Friendly staff. Very clean facility Unbeatable price. Literally 1/10th of the price of Equinox. If you’re after status symbols in your gym then this might not be the place but if you want the best gym for the money then look no further. Pro tip: join Planet Fitness for your own workouts and get something like Class Pass to mix it up.
I like how clean it is and the water massage bed is nice. Wish they had heavier weights and a barbell area as that would fit my training needs better. However has a great price to value ratio. They have a 24/5 schedule where they're open from 12AM Monday to 10PM Friday. Saturday and Sundays are 7AM to 7PM. I've actually gotten a workout in after midnight and the gym is empty. Pretty nice if you don't want a crowd. But in general, the crowds here are never bad
I like that it is close to home and not crowded when I go. But I DON'T like the loud music. What is the reason for it, when so many people bring their own music? Quiet, please! Also, it is irritating when someone stays sitting on a piece of equipment, staring at their phone, not using the machine, when I am waiting for it. I am not comfortable interrupting, asking if they are finished. Please put up a sign about this. And, the correct spelling is "JUDGMENT".
Removed two stars, because while they have 50 treadmills, 30 ellipticals, etc, they have only five stair machines, which seem to be the most popular cardio and are always full (and one has been broken for weeks). Im doing a specific training that requires that machine, so I'm going to have to find somewhere else to go. All the other machines always have dozens of open spots. Very clean, large, bright. Good number of machines, better than most PF locations!
Decided to try this gym due to its close proximity to home. I use to pay $100+ mthly at Equinox gym but decided to try this Planet Fitness location because I now work from home due to covid. I am extremely satisfied with this gym. It is always clean. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. I am saving so much money paying only $20+ and getting the same results as my previously over-expensive gym. Thank you guys and keep up the good work !!.
I appreciate the way this location enforced COVID mask requirements when they were in effect. My accolades to the staff. I've personally dealt with a Na'im, Ariana, and Ryan. Appreciate their prompt professionalism and eagerness to provide superior service. Keep up the good work! If management stayed on top of cleaning and promptly fixing inoperative machines, Flatbush, BK could be a 4.7* location. No reason why it shouldn't be.
Minimal frills gym but has all the equipment you’d need to get in great shape. The only downside is the max dumbbell weight is 60lbs, however, I’m guessing for the majority of people that won’t be an issue. There are always loads of treadmills free, big screens with the news/movies on as well as plenty of water stations. Showers and changing rooms are always clean and there are plenty of lockers. Just bring your own lock.
First time back and I must say the gym was clean as always when u enter you are asked a few questions and sign your name with sanitized pens , everything is well mapped out every other machine is in use and there is someone on the floor every 20 mins to sanitize also you have to clean the machines after use. Loved the way its not crowded and u must work out keeping your mask on at all times will be going back soon.
More than enough updated equipment for each targeted area. Small Gym but still spacious. Friendly staff and clean facility from the locker rooms, bathrooms and on many occasions I've seen them walking around to disinfect the equipment as well as make sure the supplies for the guest to wipe down equipment is always stocked. As a person who's just recently getting into the gym life I'm glad I chose this location.
On April 11, 2023, my money ($400) was stolen from me at this place. The manager is aware of this incident because I am not the first victim. I went there yesterday and was told that this girl named Briana (the necklace with her name on it) keeps going to the gym. The company retains her membership. I have one suggestion - is she working for a company to steal money from people? Please share and be careful!
Equipment is always missing or broken. The staff will play the link alarm for 5 minutes at a time just to get people to leave early. They play terrible music. There is almost never anyone to check you in at the front, or they take too long. Honestly it’s a scam that you have to pay to come here. If they didn’t have a monopoly on this location, I would go to LITERALLY ANY OTHER GYM. It is Embarrassing.
2023: The staff is great here. The new equipment they just purchased is not being fixed as frequently and they cant keep a personal trainer on staff. However, the facility is clean. 2020: Very convenient and clean. Love the trainer Elliott. He is very knowledgeable and changes up the exercises outside of the typical basic movements. He also motivates us when we're not feeling our best.
For 10 bucks a month this Gym is pretty great. There are a ton of machines, and I've never ever had to wait for the one I wanted to use. It's clean, and the staff is typically nice. There aren't many frills or amenities, but like I said, 10 bucks. I've only used the shower once because the soap in the dispenser smelled like bacon grease. That was strange. They lose a star for that.
It’s a gym. What’s there not to love? Nah just kidding... It’s definitely a great setting and easier on the eyes than other PF locations. It’s spacious. Excellent lighting. Appears to be clean overall. And the employees are cool people. The only thing I don’t like is the low water pressure at the water fountains. The water barely comes out of the spout.
Great location! The equipment is top tier, the space is bountiful and clean, the staff/manager are helpful and friendly. 95% of the members wipe down the equipment before and after use which is really impressive. The women's locker room can use an upgrade, but overall I love this location as opposed to my home club on Kings Highway.
The gym itself is very spacious with a huge lofty feel. Never have I had to wait for a cardio machine. The staff is nice and the facility is rather clean but a lot of the time the paper towel dispensers are empty or broken and I haven't found a shower that works properly (no hot water and no pressure, just a chilly most)
Planet Fitness is the place to be when you choose health and fitness. Exercise clears your mind and rejuvenates your body and spirit. Take it from a beginner. This is a beautiful experience. I am addicted to Planet Fitness on Flatbush Ave. Big up Sean and all the friendly faces that greet us coming in and going out.
Its an okay environment quit small but great machine's and weights. There locker room i would say is extremely clean however its far from dirty. There benefits for certain card holders such as the gold members are honestly the best outta all gyms by comparison, they receive tanning beds, massages, shirts and more
Laid back,no pressure at all and respectful crowd. But faucets in the bathrooms are broken.Need to be fix. Showers need also to be checked, fixtures for water shower are missing. Atmosphere is great except some water fixtures in shower and sinks are definitely left out. Keep an eye on those details.
I have experienced all positive vibes here. I've never had to wait for the use of equipment. I love the hours and the location, i can go to the gym whenever i like. My encounters with all staff at different tours has been extremely positive. The staff has been courteous friendly and informative.
The PF on Flatbush Avenue and Empire Blvd is spacious. The energy in this place is amazing. You have the whole floor to workout. Very few times I had to wait for a machine. The place is clean, staff is alright and the music is at a good level. The crowd is quite and focused on working out.
The staff was friendly and professional. The facilities were clean and well-kept. A lot of space to workout with plenty of natural sunlight shining through. I visited the women's bathrooms and they were pretty neat and tidy. The only thing I didn't see was a full-length mirror.
Reliable gym with your basic amenities, and a flexible set of health strategies for post-covid. Service has always been friendly, and I’ve never witnessed rude or inappropriate gym manners. You do get your occasional grunter and dropper, but that’s not the dominant culture.
Not sure what's goin on.. but lots of times there is no paper towels no spray to clean machines after use especially in this time. The machines are dusty. Employees walk around cleaning but still dirty. Come on guys we can do a better for our health and safety.
Everyone who works here is super helpful and friendly. They have tanning. And hydro massage and chair massage. There is soneone alsways cleaning the lockers and fresh flowers on the sink. The machines are rarely broken. There are doubles of most machines.
The location is great, the facility is clean, and you can't beat the price. If you're a woman, I'd recommend only coming during very early morning hours when it's empty. The male guests here are VERY creepy and aggressive towards women who are alone.
I don't understand why almost every time I go to this gym I have to remind the manager/staff, can you please clean the mens bathroom‼️‼️. It's nasty and ridiculous. Especially with COVID and monkeypox and everything else that's going on. …
The employees were great. Gym was clean. However, the gym was crowded and none of the customers had mask on. I felt unsafe so I left. I understand that it's tough to wear a mask during a work out but COVID 19 is still spreading like wildfire.
My experience at this location is always great there is a location closer to me but I prefer to go to this one it's always clean there's new equipment and the staff is always willing to assist if you're unsure how to use the newer equipment!
This place is quite a mess! The staff are usually rude and when they actually aren't my workout is interrupted by inappropriate men trying to take a look the staff at the front desk are pretty hot looking though …
It's about time you put new work out machines. The exercise machines were broken for more than six months and some exercise machines look old and outdated. Now we have brand new and updated machinery. It's been a long time coming
Good array of machines that are not on top of each other. Saw a worker cleaning throughout my entire 2-hr workout. Happy this one is 24hrs and staff greeted when I entered and exited. Like this one better than duffield location.
Initially I thought it was good. For the first time I was in a PF that wasn't crowded but then I went to the locker rooms and found out why. It's soo disgusting in there and I'm pretty sure there was black mold in the showers
It’s a cool gym. Very small and to the point. The gym is filthy. I had to change my work out schedule to 1 am because in the day time it’s filthy. You guys trainers and front desk need more customer service training.
Very clean and has lots of machines to use. Never have a problem getting a good workout in. Music is a bit loud but they don’t seem to actually use the hunk alarm which is good because I always found that annoying
Staff are friendly. Only thing is the shower water is not as cold I think it could be bc the cartridge or rubber for the shower handle needs to be change but the staff try to cater to everything else.
Super clean and the staff is very polite. One of the best planet fitness in Brooklyn. I definitely love to visit it especially for the warm welcome I always receive when I walk through the door.
Great gym been a member for years. Only issue is there should be cell phone restrictions. Couple of people close by have had LOUD conversations. Inconsiderate and provocative to say the least.
The gym was so clean and inviting. The layout is pretty impressive in comparison to some other Planet Fitnesses that I’ve been to. I would definitely recommend stopping by.
Planet fitness have been consistent with the cleaning of equipment. Thumps up for that and the staff is very pleasant. Love the space and number af machine there also.
Large, clean, and not-crowded gym! Really feels like a no-judgment zone. Staff are great and helpful. Highly recommend joining if you’re in the PLG area.
Too many kids playing on the machines and holding up machines while they play on their phone when I go afterwork. I wish overnight was still an option
I love planet fitness I will go there one day to achieve my goals as my husband did. Josh is a very good husband and I think planet fitness is too.
I haven’t been here in 2 yrs and love the upgrade . The manager was also very helpful and knowledgeable! I love to see it
Convenient to my office,my favorite planet location out of all the locations I've visited around the country
Good clean facility. A lot of cardio equipment. I’m a frequent visitor here and bring friends here as well.
Excellent gym, a lot of equipment, the staff is awesome. Great group classes and the place is always clean.
Seems pretty clean and the locker room is nice, the atmosphere is very chill
Great Exercises,On Their Nicely Clean Bikes, Elipticals,& Etc.....♡♡☆☆
My go place to work out! Convenient and a friendly atmosphere!
Clean, reliable, not too crowded. Has everything I need.
Clean and nice space. Could use more equipment though.
