I am extremely disappointed with the level of professionalism and customer service at this gym. Every time I’ve attempted to speak to a manager, they are conveniently “never there.” This blatant lack of availability raises serious questions about the management’s commitment to addressing customer concerns. In my frustration, I took the initiative to email both the manager and the owner of the gym, detailing my concerns and experiences. To my dismay, I received absolutely no response from either party. This complete disregard for customer feedback further demonstrates their lack of accountability and respect for their members. I cannot emphasize enough how important good customer service is, especially in an industry that revolves around personal well-being and satisfaction. It’s disheartening to see a facility that places so little value on their members’ experiences. Considering the unprofessionalism, the absence of managerial presence, and the lack of response from higher-ups, I strongly urge anyone considering this gym to think twice before spending their hard-earned money here. There are plenty of other options available that prioritize customer satisfaction and provide the level of service we all deserve.

The Pelham Bay Location is really starting to show it's age with a lot of its equipment in need of repair. Things that were repaired were not done correctly, and I would avoid this location until things are brought up to standards. I have been coming to the Pelham Bay Planet fitness for over ten-years. The equipment used to be in much better operating condition and the staff was more professional in how they handled repairs. After the pandemic, this is the only remanding gym in the area. Lockers, showers and restrooms are for the most part clean and orderly. However, the machines that were inspected or attempted to be repaired were not done correctly-- things just feel off compared to other Planet Fitness location machines. Here is the breakdown of all the bad equipment: Leg extensions machines, hamstring machines, chest fly machines, ab crunch station. Overall this gym went from being a good gym to a very unhealthy and nasty place to work out at.

Very cleanly facility, and well stocked with both equipment and hand sanitizers. Patrons in here were not very social (pretty typical though of most New Yorkers) but on the plus side, they did adhere to Planet Fitness's no judgement policy. People were respectful of everyone's need to use machinery and nobody dominated any one particular machine. Only complaint would be that some of the free weights missed their matching counterparts. I'm convinced at least one person somewhere who has patronized this gym has one arm that looks like Popeye's, and one that looks like Olive Oyl's. Staff was very friendly, and accommodating, and the restrooms were spotless (which i definitely appreciated). All in all, definitely a good little gym to attend.

This planet fitness is at a great location and the gym itself it’s clean with good cardio machines and weights and also like that there is hand sanitizer and sprays to clean the machines before the work out. I’ve been a member here for a few years now but management needs to keep up with the cardio machines because most of them are damage and need urgent repair!. We as members do pay monthly fees and also maintenance for all equipment we use every 6 month so yes it is the management job to make sure all machines are working properly because WE DO NOT WORKOUT FOR FREE HERE. So please fix all broken and damage equipment so that everyone can enjoy a safe workout. NO BODY WANTS TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT due to BROKEN OR DAMAGE EQUIPMENT.

The Pelham Bay Bronx, location was such a nice place at one time. I live in the area and have been a member since they opened as Golds Gym circa 20 yrs ago. It has gone straight down hill recently. Their desk staff is extremely challenged and extremely rude. It has taken me over a week to get a membership transferred back from my Florida home location. (I've been doing this for years without a problem) The transfer is still not done. A million excuses and rudeness. Instead of resolving the issue, they give me: "Why don't you upgrade to Black Membership" comments. I feel like saying "why don't you pay my electric bill?" I'm very disappointed in the way they treat their members.

I've been coming to this gym for more than 12 years now (on and off) and i really like its cleanness, its welcoming atmosphere, plus the fact that it has its own parking lot and it's pretty accessible though public transportation. Also, it is not that crowded (most of the time), the majority of people behave quite decent (with a few exceptions) and it's located in a (relatively) safe area of the Bronx. My only reason for 4 stars is the schedule, i understand that the gym doesn't operate 24 hours anymore but i feel like it should be opened until 12:00 midnight instead of 11:00 pm during week hours. I would recommend it..!

Customer service at this gym was amazing. There was not one staff member hanging out or on their phone. Equipment is older but felt more efficient, then the equipment at my home gym located on Gun Hill Road. I love how the elliptical machines had there own tv monitors and tell you your current weight. The men's locker room is small but clean. There was soap in both dispensers. Showers were not visible, so they pay close attention to member privacy. What i didn't like I didn't like those paper towel dispensers. You have to work hard to get a good amount. Other than that. Two thumbs up to this Planet Fitness.

Don't bother joining. You'll never be able to get a decent work out. Every year they let all kids work out for free. Gym looks more like a park. All they do is come in groups, joke around and stay on their cell phones. When I called corporate office and suggest that these kids should come during certain times, they responded with a bunch of jibber jabber ......... there are plenty of other nice gyms that don't allow this foolishness... Google search, you'll be surprised how many gyms are within your area.

I found the morning male staff friendlier and more helpful than the stoney female staff. They need to have machine and disafectant strays refilled more often. Most bottles were empty. However you see workers cleaning machines. Some machines were out of service. A female trainer did not know how the rowing machine worked, I had to spend 15 minutes on YouTube on how to. Planet fitness should think about investing in installing a couple of spinning modern bikes. Nevertheless, it's a good gym for the price.

Workers name was Tina . She already previously had an attitude with the customer right before me who also left . My barcode was not working which is the only reason I even needed assistance. When it was my turn up I was not even greeted . I just had to state what I needed . She than told me to reinstall the app and if that didn’t work it wasn’t anything more she can do . No care in the world for anything going on with customers . WONT BE COMING BACK ! DO NOT RECOMMEND GO TO CASTLE HILL !

The other day I went with my husband and as always we locked our things in the closet. One person went in front claiming that his things were in there, while my husband and I were doing our exercises, the girl who worked there decided to break our locker and the moment we went to ask why, the girl was very rude to us, without saying that our things were not even inside. This thing is unacceptable, where your property (home keys, credit cards) are no longer safe. we will never come back!

Not too many people are not working out. Please be careful with your personal belongings. I am not sure how it happened. But one of the women in the gym went into my locker and stole my cash out of my wallet. I am not sure how it happened. I thought that I had locked my locker. The sad part of this situation was that it was a regular gym member, because it took place on an early Sunday morning. Not to many strangers in there that time of morning or day.

I would give this planet fitness 5 stars if it was bit more spacious. The best planet fitness so far for me. I been going here for about 5 months now. The staff it’s friendly,the people are respectful and friendly the equipment is well maintained. The restrooms are clean over all everything it’s keep clean here . Hopefully this location will stay like this or get better. Unlike other planet fitness locations I been in the Bronx it’s the best one.

I've been going to pelham bay..planet fitness for over a decade...I love it....and the staff now, is the best ever. They're always willing to help with everything ....Always pleasant...says hi, bye...and awesome customer service!! It's not a big gym and may lack some machines, and may lack other things.... but if you want to get into shape overall...you still can with no problem..it has everything you need for the price!!..

I am very disappointed. I just rejoined this gym with my husband and one of the reasons I became a black card member is because I be enjoy the tanning booths. My first visit I was informed that not only were both booths not working but was told the service company isn't very reliable a NJ d the booths are out of service much of the time. What kind of business runs their business like this. Very unprofessional.

If you’re serious about getting in shape, spend a few extra dollars and go somewhere else. They’ve removed almost all of the mirrors (can’t check your form=asking for an injury) and took away their only saving grace, being open 24 hours, because they are negligent to their staff and no one wants to work here. This place deserves zero stars but the people behind the front desk are always great. :)

I finally started going regularly and I can say the staff is friendly and helpful the people mind their business there is not pressure no weird feeling like if someone is looking ... it’s great and clean the only thing I don’t really like is the tanning machine they really need to fix them . Also I wish this location had the pool! Then it would be the greatest gym... enjoy it !!’

This planet fitness is pretty good. It had a lot of machines, it was clean, the staff was helpful, they had a trainer available (which hasn’t been my experience yet at a PF thus far) and even the other gym goers weren’t obnoxious lol. My only issue is… the machines are quite cramped. Everything is very close together. Also keep in mind that there is only street parking available.

Pretty crowded considering there is still a good amount of snow leftover from the storm . Even with the crowd here, you can still get a decent cardio workout in. The free weight area is where most of the people are concentrated. Planet Fitness is still following capacity protocol though. I wouldn’t be surprised if people are being turned away. I have seen that happen before.

Great staff, place is clean or being clean constantly… that’s is paramount for all members.. thanks to the great staff running this gym… this place gets a bit congested between 2pm and 6pm… their rush hour, so if you don’t like waiting around for others to finish then come outside those hours… very organized, and machines are constantly being check and fixed. It’s a good gym. They could have more of th equipment that matters. Issues, people just sitting on equipment using their phones instead of working out. What’s even worse is, the people that do this are in the worse shape. This is something that management needs to address. This is probably the reason I won’t renew after my annual membership expires.

Clean, nice staff, and the ppl working out were nice too, except for this one karen that was boutta start a problem with my friend but we just ignored There was only one 30lb dumbell, couldn't find the other one, someone prolly just didn't put it back on the rack. Not crowded and had hand sanitizer stations everywhere. Overall great experience!

I lost 52 lbs and finally feel good about myself. I typically go at 5am and the crowd at 5 am sure very friendly and the gym is clean. This past week the gym has been closed due to remodeling and can't wait to see what has been done. I only wish they would extend the gym into the useless parking lot and make that area just for free weights.

I love the gym but bathroom poop March 28th evening was in the back of the toilet. Shower drain had hair all in it . Ahhhh hopeful today March 29th 2023 its cleaned. I reported it to the gurl at the desk she said she would get someone to clean the bathroom. when I left last night it was still there .

Friendly staff, usually not crowded, open late. Usually we find parking in or around the lot. I just wish they had later hours on Friday and the weekend, even if not 24/7. But nonetheless it's a good gym, and the price can't be beat. They also have wifi which comes in handy for music/video streaming.

Used to be a great gym. But the high scoop program really hinders the black membership paying customers. Machines are never free and always a group of teens crowding the gym and taking up space. Not to mention that it is not 24hrs anymore. Very terrible decision and will probably switch gyms.

I use to come here years ago , make sure you cancel your membership in person or they will continue to charge you and will not allow you to cancel over the phone. Overtime they will send you to collections. That is wrong and would not recommend anyone to deal with them.

Small and seems people go there to hangout instead of working out. People here like to sit on machines and have conversations like if they aren't there to workout. New Rochelle is 100% better people are more serious about working out and they have more machines.

I like this gym because the staff is wonderful and helpful. The members at the gym are wonderful. There's parking space but it's not the largest parking space. They always been safe about having cleaning supplies. This is a gym I can say it's so far fantastic.

Very small gym and during this pandemic I feel the safety precautions aren't taken as seriously as they should and machines are thoroughly cleaned frequently enough. However, the equipment is always in tacked and the workers are professional and friendly.

Went to workout and saw an amazing staff member directing, educating and greeting people with such a pleasant spirit. Selena is her name and she deserves to be in leadership!! Her character is impeccable!! Thank you Selena. You made my day!

Ownership can’t retain great employees because they don’t provide livable wages or proper working conditions. The only redeeming quality of this rundown gym was being 24 hours which is no longer the case because they’re too understaffed.

great staff… but the weights are all over the gym people use 2 and 3 machines at the same time they don't let other people use the machines or the weights they should have someone supervising they don't do those things it's very annoying

As gym … its ok…. But im convinced they purposely knock phones off the free wifi. I have to reconnect to the wifi several times in one workout.. this particular location is also look a lot like the Washington Heights locations… dirty

I don't go to the gym, but I know one thing be careful passing by the parking lot the people who go there can't drive and drive while on weed and will run you over if you don't watch, typical bx atmosphere with little brain activity.

Just moved to The area and this location is much Cleaner more than the one in white plains for sure, most of people very well manner wiped down machines after used and bathrooms are very clean and fresh. Staff very friendly as well

The only down side is this gym is a lil small and has an awkward layout. However, if you get lucky you can snatch up a parking spot. The bathrooms are always clean as well as the entire facility. The staff is friendly and pleasant.

Has to be a better way to cancel your membership! Especially as a senior citizen, it should be easy as a darn phone call! Meanwhile it was pretty easy for them to take $10.45 a month out of my account while I hardly ever showed up!

I loved the best gym but when it was open 24 hours because from 12 onwards it wasn't so crowded now that close at 11 it's quite difficult I have to wait a long time to use the machines that I want. please 24 hour again …

It’s planet fitness it’s ok but not the best. The local people is what makes the gym a good gym so just make the best of it and don’t make it a social hangout or be a hog. Get your pump! use the machines and keep it moving.

stay away ! i cancelled my membership a year ago moved to ct open a membership and pelham bay started charging me again! getting double charged and have not been refunded this is not hood business smh scam !

I love my gym. They recently upgraded some of the equipment and perfect. Stay dedicated and you will get the results your looking for here. Staff is always friendly and available to help when you need it.

Very clean environment. Everyone seems to clean machines after they are done. Was my first time here and I liked it. It's a small Planet fitness compare to others, but it's a quiet area so no big crowds

I loved when it was open 24 hours because at dawn from 12:00 to 3:00 am. It was not crowded I hate going in the morning and in the afternoon it is very crowded …

The staff here are wonderful, but there should be no reason why machines are breaking mid workout. Planet fitness is a corporation issues like this should be resolved, and done so quickly.

Super packed with free entry for kids. How are paying members supposed to work out if 4-7 kids are goofing around using the machines one at a time.. don't be joining again

It's a great place to work out locally, at a fair price. Best to avoid crowds by going during off peak hours. The front desk has a printed guide available if you ask.

I've tried to cancel my membership on the phone and they said I have to email. I emailed 3 times and nothing. Had to contact my credit card. Stealing money.

Overall good quality planet fitness. Better then most I've seen in Manhattan. Usually pretty prompt repair of broken equipment. Bathrooms are kept clean.

Many of the machines are broken, especially the cardiovascular machines. The bathroom is usually disgusting with no toilet paper and broken seats.

Nice location. Not too crowded. Has everything one needs for a great workout. I also enjoyed the water massage in the Black Card VIP area.
