At the beginning of 2020, we joined PF, and for 2 months everything was fine, we liked the facility. However, their customer services is horrible. With the pandemic starting, they charged us a day before the facilities closed. No refunds for that, and there was no one to be reached at the club by phone. And on the website, it says that all questions should be directed toward the local club; no support there. Then, when they reopened in July, I came in to cancel the membership, but was advised to freeze it (to see if things get better). The person at the registration told me that if I still want to cancel, to do that before December 17, which I did, calling prior to the date. Turns out, I will still be charged for another month because I did not do it far in advance (which was never mentioned), but according to the 2 people I spoke with (on the phone and in person) it is my problem because I should have checked the contract rather than going off of what the representative said in July. So now, I am charged twice (in March and in December) without ever using the facility since March. The management and customer service are not understanding at all, and are not willing to adapt and issue a refund. It's a total money grab with their membership, there is lack of communication, and reading through the previous reviews, I am not the only one who experienced this with this club. Very disappointing. I do not recommend this club to anyone unless you want a constant hassle with fees, etc.
The staff are very friendly. It is a comfortable atmosphere to workout in. The two main complaints I have are the cleanliness and the issue with there only being one machine of certain machines making it next to impossible to work them into your workout because its not like you can form a line while people are using those machines. I think there needs to be additional staff added just for cleaning and maintenance. Things that are broken stay broken for a long time and the change room/bathroom is pretty gross. The sinks get cleaned but there are smudges and smears I've seen in the bathroom stalls and personal change rooms for months. I don't take showers there but I've overheard people in the change room saying they never get cleaned either. It's a big place and not that many people working at the same time so there's no way they can watch the front and do all of that cleaning too. They need a dedicated maintenance and cleaning staff there. But other than that, the main reason why you'd be there I have no complaints. Staff are great and there is such a great mix of people you really feel comfortable there.

More recently the gym has become insanely packed, only time you can really go to get a good workout it 1-3 in the afternoon on a weekday, or the middle of the night. Takes them ages to fix equipment, air conditioning, even paper towel dispensers. With a lot of newer people who don’t seem to understand gym etiquette of having basic hygiene, as well as being overcrowded, it’s to the point you can’t breathe in air without gagging. Would not recommend this gym to anyone. Switched to goodlife, will go to any other gym in Kingston before this one.
Me and my girlfriend go to PF she has a black card, I used to go with her. Yesterday she was sick, I went with her pf black card. After scanning the card and walking in lady called me back, I told her that I used come as a guest everyday(even though she knows it). The lady in the front desk was not in a good mood while talking and made others in the gym notice about this, which made me embarrassed myself. I know it is my mistake that i carried my girlfriend’s pf card, but this is not how to treat their regulars and was not professional at all. It is not the first time, you can do survey with the people who comes at night, most them will have a complaint towards the lady in the front desk. We are canceling our pf black card today and will never step into that gym again.
I have been going to this gym for a long time now, never had an issue. In the 30minute circuit room, staff had said to us they don’t care if we do reps, as long as if someone is doing the circuit, let them go first. Totally fine!! However, recently they have gotten super strict about that room being a circuit room, so now we can’t use those machines. I’d understand completely if ALL of those machines were elsewhere in the gym, however some of them aren’t. If you want us to stop going in there, then please double on those machines and put them somewhere else aswell. I can name at least 3 (leg, arm & an ab) machines that are only in that room specifically. Please fix this so all of your members are happy, not just some.
It's been almost a year since I moved back and I love the layout and space. From the first week I started going to the gym regularly Jessica specifically remembered me and made sure I felt welcome. The whole team is very personable especially the evening staff (since that's usually when I go in). Though it can be crowded so the app letting you check how crowded it is, is perfect. It's always fun to drag a friend in with me to workout at this gym using my black card membership. I've tried other gyms but I like the balance of cardio an weights this gym has and the relaxed atmosphere.
Be aware they will take their money from any account you give them: Though it clearly states online when you sign up that only a debit account will be charged the monthly fee, today I received an overdraft on my credit card which I had to use to sign up because you refuse to cancel my membership online or over the phone. This is a beyond predatory system that should not be legal. Ridiculous that you're still getting away with this and others are signing up for this cash grab. Not enough gyms, not enough machines, but let me get my 30$ per month weather you can use it or not
I've been going here regularly for about three months. I focus on running, so can't speak for the weight machines - but my experience has been entirely positive. Good atmosphere in the gym. Decent equipment. Staff are friendly. Pretty good circulation of air (there's a couple of treadmills at the far end which are a struggle to run on - but you have to be unlucky to get stuck on one of those, as you have another 20 or so to choose from). For less than 20 bucks, a basic monthly membership is well worth the price.
I love this place. Everytime we walk in there are big smiles from staff welcoming us back. Everyone is so cheerful and supportive especially on those days where you feel 'less than enthusiastic ' about getting fit. One trainer in particular, Jordan will make sure to toss you a smile and word of encouragement whenever he's on site followed up with a fist bump. He is what struggling clients need to keep going. Great establishment. Very clean. All machines and equipment in gym area in working order and sanitized.
Planet Fitness Kingston- We experienced poor customer service, the staff member didn’t communicate well in the first place with explaining rules and was rude later. He threatened us that he will terminate our membership for no solid reason. The staff should know how to treat customers. The staff member could’ve talked politely instead he acted as he is the owner. Its not the only gym left in the city if we have to go through such treatment just because they aren’t aware of their own gym rules.
Lack of respect for others. I use the 30 minute workout room. Of the last 10 visits, only twice did the clients respect the rotation. The other times, people hog the machines and refuse to move. The staff are sympathetic but they do not monitor the room like they are supposed to. The signage also needs to be more visible and the wording more strict. I've walked out several times from frustration. Makes for a very stressful experience.
Great Staff!! Missing some critical weight-lifting equipment. Showers have mold in the corners, and shower bars are rusting. Never enough hot water. And it has become hectic over the last two months, getting harder and harder to use their limited equipment even at 5 am. There is way too much cardio equipment and not enough weights or machines. If the staff and people weren't as great as they are, it would be fewer stars.
I've been a PF member for a lot of years. My own personal experience: -The staff has always been friendly and kind to me. - It is kept pretty clean and tidy. - Machines that need repair are quick to be fixed. Recently I've amped up my workouts by adding a weekly session on with the personal trainer, Jordan. He's very knowledgeable, patient, and great motivation. I've noticed a huge difference in myself because of him.
great, friendly & helpful staff ,clean club ! if i did have a complaint it would be SOME new members need to know YOU DO NOT TALK ON YOUR PHONES .......especially when you supposedly are "WORKING OUT" EDIT: after reading a few years worth of reviews i am finding MOST of the negative reviews are BS !! read the contract of the gym and of course during co-vid there were some logistical challenges be reasonable
The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is that it tends to get pretty busy sometimes but otherwise there are plenty of machines, the staff are always friendly and the gym itself always looks super clean! Can't beat the price either for what you're getting! Since covid there are now PLENTY of places to sanitize your hands too, which I personally really appreciate!
Gym itself is fine. But the staff, specially there is one lady who is super racist. Wouldn't let my guest use the hydro even when it was completely free. Other male staff were always friendly but some of the female staff are just too racist. That lady staff needs some training about how to handle customer!
Great staff and great machines if you can manage to get one that isn't occupied. Extremely busy for the size of the location and now with the age 14-19 getting free memberships, it's a playground for them. Unfortunately moving elsewhere after a few years of being here, but will try again in winter
The staff is friendly and the place is spacious, so there is no inconvenience in using exercise equipment. The size of the music is appropriate, so it doesn't bother me when I listen to other music with earphones. It's nice to keep it clean. And the price of this facility... It's so good.
Racist female staff! Went as a guest but the lady at the desk was quite rude. Wouldn't let me check out the massage chairs even if it was not a busy hour. Loss for them tbh since I probably would join the gym after this test as a guest but not anymore. I am out of this racist place!
Always have a great time going to planet fitness in Kingston. The customer service is great, recently had an excellent customer service from an employee named Jenna she was extremely positive and kind hearted. The machines are really clean it’s a excellent place to workout
We had to join this gym temporarily while we were in Kingston for a family emergency. This 5 starts is due to Tina’s incredible customer service. She was always friendly and understanding, and we thank her for all of her help while we attended this gym. Thank you Tina!
Clean, never a wait for a machine, and least intimidating place I've ever worked out at. I absolutely agree with their slogans.. you FEEL it when you're in there. No one cares what you look like when you go, just have fun, workout, and leave nothing but smiles …
Pros: *Awesome people working there *Cancellation was straight forward and very easy. No hidden agendas like GoodLife. I had to cancel because of relocating. Cons: No upgrade or new equipment. However, compared to what you pay for, I think it’s a very good deal.
Tina at the front desk is horrible with customer service. Genuinely no one told me about the amount of extra monthly fees that were charged along with the membership. As a student I got charged $120 in one month which is ridiculous. No help from Tina either.
Planet Fitness memberships are a trap for those of us without transportation. They have no problem signing people up as members online, with no signature, but to cancel it must be by certified mail or in person. Interesting …
Nice building with lots of equipment. The only thing I had against is the two large fans in the ceiling that keep redirecting cold air toward the gym goers and it causes discomfort for the sweating working out people.
Don't try and cancel your membership. They will still charge you for the following month. Will not recommend this gym to anyone. They also will not answer any emails sent to them regarding this issue.
It's pretty good, lots of machines to use. Locker rooms are fairly tight and there is only one water station (unless I've something). Overall not bad and I'll definitely continue using it.
This gym is amazing! The staff keep everything impeccably clean, they are friendly to chat and members are respectful with lots of equipment. Highly recommend giving PF Kingston a try.
Friendly, helpful staff. Nice variety of equipment. Wish they had more free weights and cable machines. They're always busy so if you're limited for time just keep that in mind.
Maybe tina at front desk needs to learn how to talk to people. Was extremely rude the other day. Never had problem with any other staff members they are really friendly.

Nice place, HORRIBLE BUSINESS. Management is non-existent, customer service abysmal. Find an indie gym and save yourself money and the headache.
Great place for working out but it misses some essential equipment like the normal bench press, and the barbells only goes to 60Ib
Horrible gym. Staff are rude and unwelcoming. Equipment was dirty. No space to properly work out if anyone else is in the gym.
Friendly staff. Clean, modern equipment. No high pressure sales. I'm enjoying my brief membership here very much.
