*** Schedule Details: Mon-Fri, 1.5 hrs daily one-on-one *** My Skill Level: Intermediate, 3 yrs high school Spanish, lived in Mexico 2 mos. *** Thoughts: As far as the classes go, 1.5 hour sessions feel ideal to me; just enough time to learn a lot when I apply myself, just short enough to avoid burn-out. They're pretty flexible and willing to work with you on scheduling. They provide free coffee and tea which is a nice bonus. I've been going for a couple months now and I've had one steady teacher, Iván, who has been great, and I've had a few sessions with other teachers (Majo, Karo, Lud, Nancy) who I've also loved. I've taken Spanish classes in the past and I was always SO bored and unfocused. I really enjoy Porteñisima's custom-made exercises that keep me engaged. For example, when learning adjectives that describe personality traits (arrogant, intelligent, etc.) we did an exercise with fake online dating profiles. Creative and fun activities like that are far superior (IMO) to your standard snooze-fest textbook exercises. I seriously look forward to going to class at Porteñisima every day! The owners, Majo & Karo, are super-friendly, vibrant, wonderful chicas. Always smiling and laughing-- they radiate positivity and enthusiasm. And so does the rest of the staff! Although they encourage a lighthearted, fun environment they are nonetheless serious about what they do. If you put in the effort during class and outside the classroom they will be serious about assisting you towards realizing your language-learning goals. Also, they schedule Thursday night bar events every couple weeks. They're always quick to hook you up with suggestions for good eats, cool sights, things to do, etc., and they can put you in touch with the right people to have some cool experiences. Just today I attended a sweet traditional asado barbecue with some local Porteños and other fellow travelers, hosted by a cool dude who they had put me in touch with. Just to be clear-- they're not doubling as a travel agency or anything, they just love their city and like to hook their students up with cool experiences. They are always willing to help students out. Location is great. Close to A, B, D subway lines and a ton of bus routes. Lots of great lunch spots nearby. I feel I'm getting a great return on investment-- this school is worth every cent. I'd suggest taking a free Monday class to see if Porteñisima's program is a good fit for you. And FYI if you speak absolutely zero Spanish you'll feel comfortable here; they all speak excellent English.

Este ano resolvi pôr em prática um antigo projeto de estudo de espanhol no exterior e busquei uma boa escola, cheguei a 4 escolas considerando preço e localização. Decidi pela Porteñísima Spanish School, que funciona em 2 Hostels no centro de Buenos Aires, a intenção era estudar pela manhã e turistar a partir da tarde. Viajei sozinho para garantir imersão e falar o mínimo possível o português. Ao comentar que estava só o diferencial da escola começou a aparecer, tiveram um cuidado extra, e uma atenção especial, entravam em contato quase todo os dias querendo saber do meu bem-estar, e se puseram a disposição em caso de necessidade. Quem vier se sentirá acolhido(a) pelas sócias e professoras Majo e Karo. O meu professor Aldo é um capítulo a parte, já o considero um amigo com uma didática muito boa. Fui principalmente para perder o medo e vergonha de falar, mas a didática, tranquilidade e metodologia pedagógica fez esse sentimento desaparecer em pouco tempo e foi incrível, permitir que o foco fosse transferido o espanhol. O professor sempre teve o cuidado de mostrar as diferenças entre o mundo espano e a Argentina com suas peculiaridades “castellano porteño”. Em resumo, se está buscando uma boa escola, boa didática, professores em um ambiente acolhedor pode buscar a Porteñísima, tanto gostei que fiz uma semana a mais. Só tenho a Agradecer a Majo, Karo e Albo a atenção, cuidado e aulas agradáveis, uma experiência que indico tranquilamente.

20horas de clase Español a Buenos Aires con Belén Capurro: In this week of Spanish class, thanks to our teacher Belén, we got a very warm welcome into the Spanish language (and Buenos Aires) and felt immediately at home. Her joyfull way of teaching is increible!! She was very interested in our story and where we were going on our trip. For us it was important to express ourselves in hotels, restaurants and activity centers since we will be travelling South-America for 3 months. Therefore she managed to base the lessons upon practical sentences and expressions which will become very usefull the next three months. In a constructive and patient way she motivates you to think and learn. She even managed to let us enjoy an every day little homework we got from her. This was always in retreat for a nice little pastry she brought to class. Encantamos Belén! Majo y Caro estan muy energio y communicativo en WhatsApp! They're very flexible to adjust the timing of the lessons to make sure we can do a couple of city tours. Through our travel agency we booked this intense crash course Spanish language for 1 week (5 days, 20hrs). 4 days before arrival they check upon us with a short survey to determine our goals. I've been studying Italian in Florence, Italy for a solid month a couple of months ago. I wanted to continue studying Italian in Buenos Aires while i was here for five weeks but wasn't successful in finding a school. I did however find this gem of a place just a two minutes walk from my Airbnb. Located inside a hostel, on the top floor is a somewhat small dedicated space that is this Spanish school. After a. free introductory lesson (usually on Mondays), I committed to a month of daily Spanish lessons. Caro and Majo, who run this school, could not have been nicer. Super communicative and accommodating. My great teachers, Aldo, and specially Benen. During the course of a month, with no significant prior Spanish language education (aside from watching Narcos w subtitles on Netflix), I went from trying to memorize the word for "breakfast" to having a somewhat understandable conversation with my teacher....or so she claimed. I highly recommend this school. They're invested in your improvement. As a bonus you can sign up for many paid activities the hostel offers if you don't stay there. I did a bike tour of BA and went to a soccer match with them !!

I took 10 classes with Porteñísima while staying in Buenos Aires and it was an amazing experience. I came to Spanish with no prior knowledge and no other languages other than English. Belén, my teacher, was so incredibly enthusiastic about not only teaching me her language but also learning about my own life and catering the classes towards my interests and skill level. When life got busy and I fell behind in my homework there was no shame, Belén only slowed down for me and reminded me that we are only human. Majo and Karo who run the school are very inclusive and responsive to any questions you may have. I work remotely and they were able to fit classes into my schedule, morning or afternoon. Beyond this, Majo made a special effort to invite me to events and gatherings they put on. She even helped me find a ticket to a sold out concert I wanted to attend. Their energy is contagious and I always left them feeling some had rubbed off on me. Thank you Majo, Karo, Belén and of course, Magui Mosby (haha) for helping me start my Spanish journey and your friendship. Until I return!

Porteñisima hat meine Erwartungen mehr als erfüllt. Majo hat mich herzlich empfangen und ich habe mich von der ersten Sekunde wohl gefühlt. Die Gratisstunde die jeden Montag stattfindet ist ein super Start und lustig gestaltet. Da es wenige Studierende auf dem gleichen Niveau hatte, bekam ich 5 Wochen Privatunterricht mit Micas (super kompetente und sympathische Lehrerin) zum Gruppenpreis. Das war ein grosses Plus und ich habe schnell gelernt. Der grosse Vorteil ist, dass die Stunden aufs Sprechen ausgelegt sind und die Hausaufgaben fügen dann das Schriftliche dazu. Ausserdem wird der Stundenplan von Woche zu Woche individuell ausgemacht, die Flexibilität ist ausgezeichnet. Zusätzlich gab es 2 super coole Fiestas in den 5 Wochen wo sich Schüler und Lehrer austauschen und eine gute Zeit haben. Ich empfehle die Schule jedem der in einem lockeren und unkonventionellen Ambiente schnell lernen möchte. Danke Porteñisima für die tolle Erfahrung und die super Zeit!

Porteñisima, een hele fijne en goede taalschool! Iedereen is zo hartelijk en warm; vanaf de eerste kennismaking voelt het alsof je onder vrienden of familie bent. Ik heb in Buenos Aires twee weken les gehad met één andere student. Toen ik mijn reis eerder moest afbreken i.v.m. de corona crisis heb ik online ook nog zes privé lessen gevolgd. Tijdens de lessen wordt veel aandacht besteed aan spreken en de zaken die je nodig hebt wanneer je onderweg bent, zoals het kopen van een ticket. Uiteraard ontbreekt grammatica niet. Er worden daarnaast nog veel meer activiteiten aangeboden, om andere studenten en docenten te ontmoeten en te oefenen met de taal. Én omdat het heel gezellig is! Vergeet vooral niet om even over de stad uit te kijken vanuit de school! Absoluut een aanrader, zowel online als in het echt. Con suerte hasta pronto!

We have taken Spanish lessons in Colombia, Argentina, and London, so feel able to make a valid comparison when we say Porteñísima is the best. Everyone we met during our time in the school was lovely. Majo and Karo were incredibly helpful and had great advice about BA. We enjoyed the parties and social events organised by the school and found it a great way to meet new people and practice Spanish. The teaching is very modern, with the majority of focus on conversation. Ludmilla was a wonderful person and a fantastic (and patient) teacher. I feel that although we had just over a week, our Spanish improved considerably. We also had a more immersive and enjoyable experience in BA thanks to the school. We would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

I’ve been taking private classes, and after three weeks my progress has been great. And in addition to learning so much, the experience itself has been excellent. My teacher, Ivan, is very patient and has no problem modifying each lesson to my interests and needs. The school is very laidback and it’s always a pleasure to go there, since the environment is friendly and conducive to learning. Majo, who runs the school and handles all administrative issues, is an absolute pleasure to deal with and always goes out of her way to make everyone feel at home there. I studied at one of the much larger language schools in Buenos Aires the last time I came here, and both the experience and quality of teaching has been so much better at Porteñísima.

Super experience with Porteñisima :) When you arrive, you can try with a first free lesson their type of teaching and then you have a personal interview to see what will be the best option for you for learning. And don't worry with Majo, Micas, Mice and Karo everything will be effortless, because all the time you're going to play and have fun with her. During your lesson, you can share your experience of your travel/work/whatever you're doing in Buenos Aires. You don't need to speak English to learn Spanish there. I'm French and I spend one month with them to learn a lot of vocabulary. And they have a great program to learn in remote with a lot of tools. You're in good hands with them, just enjoy your class !

I studied Spanish at Porteñísima for a month and loved it! Majo and Karo are the loveliest and the most caring! They welcomed me very warmly and included me into the Porteñísima family. We even went on great trips on the weekends. My teacher was Aldo and he was just awesome! We had so much fun and I was able to learn a lot about the language, country and culture. The classes were very much tailored to my needs and language level. Some of my classes were taught online and studying remotely was equally successful. They were able to keep up with their great teaching concept online. 100% recommendation! I will for sure come back to study more Spanish at Porteñísima!

Je suis ravie des cours que j'ai suivi à Porteñísima, Majo et son équipe m'a super bien accueilli et ont su répondre et à adapter les cours à mon niveau et mes besoins. D'un niveau déjà avancé, j'ai rapidement progressé, en l'espace de quelques leçons, grâce à des cours collectifs et individuels. Super flexible sur l'organisation des cours c'était vraiment une belle expérience! Sans compter que j'y ai rencontré des personnes avec qui j'ai sympathisé et avec qui j'ai poursuivis des conversations en espagnol bien sur, en dehors des cours! Merci

I’ve really enjoyed learning Spanish at Porteñisima, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to others. Prior to here, I studied a week at Vamos school. Whereas Vamos put the focus on grammar and writing down lots of vocabulary, Karo focuses on getting students speaking and practicing pronunciation. To me, this is the better method, because it more quickly builds phrases and confidence, that you can then use in day to day interactions. Next time I’m back in BA I hope to continue classes here.

L'école propose différentes formules, pour s'adapter à tous les besoins. Les professeurs sont de très bon pédagogues et excellents académiquement. Excellent introductory free group lesson that went for about 90 minutes. Kari and Majo are very welcoming and enthusiastic. Fast paced and enthusiastic lesson mostly delivered in Spanish with cues and prompts. It helps to have done some pre-reading of pronounciation, names of the alphabet letters, and basic greetings and responses, otherwise it is challenging to process and remember it all. Highly recommended. Also a good way to gauge if you want to do a series of lessons.

Super école pour commencer a apprendre l'espagnol a Buenos Aires : l'équipe est dynamique et d'une grande gentillesse, les cours sont individuels et donc adaptés au niveau de chacun ainsi qu'aux différents besoins, la location est centrale... Il y a tous les lundis matin un cours gratuit, ou le mardi quand le lundi est férié, ensuite les cours sont beaucoup moins chers que dans les autres écoles de la ville et les profs sont géniaux ! Beaucoup d'énergie, de bienveillance et une diction parfaite :) J'ai pris 2 semaines de cours pour débutants et j'en suis ravie !

Took one of the free classes offered by the hostel- it was a beginner lesson (I'm intermediate) but I actually learned something! I'm also an English teacher- I enjoy watching other language teachers so I can apply things that they do to my own method- I loved the high energy, trying to connect with students right away, it really helps! I took the 2 week Spanish intensive and I thought it went great! I felt like my Spanish was improving with every class. I really enjoyed the vibe of the school and everyone was really friendly. J'ai suivi 15 jours de concours, intensifs, 2h par jour. Les cours étaient de très bonne qualité, basés sur la conversation, plus efficace pour constater rapidement des progrès. Les cours, de Belén, étaient parfait, des échanges dans la bonne humeur et en s'adaptant à nos envies je recommande les yeux fermés…

Pour l'instant j'ai testé le cours gratuit d'espagnol et c'était super Bien qu'on avait tous des niveaux différents, le cours était adapté à tous et riche en informations; tout le monde en ressort avec de nouvelles connaissances!
