I would leave -5* review if I could. I came with a group for the Ecuador and the US game following. We showed up 3 hours before kickoff for the US England game, spoke with managers and every bartender to find a table and ensure the table we were at was good. It was not reserved for anyone. Nobody was upstairs and we ensured by multiple people that it was our table. Suddenly our server approached us shortly before kickoff attempting to extort us of $500 to stay at our table we had been at for 2hours. I planned to come back tomorrow with a large group for the France game but we are finding a new location. Nothing would ever make me consider staying at this bar again. I requested to speak to the manager multiple times while the server came back up to me multiple times asking if I was ready to pay the $500 for the table that we had previously arranged with the manager, 2 hours before. Finally as we were leaving the manager came up to apologize and offer drinks if we would stay. I would rather spend $500 to never come back to this place. It wasn’t even about the money in the end. We were there to spend and are a large enough group that we likely would have spent the $500, it’s the extortion and threatening environment that this place turned in to. If you come here during the World Cup, you may get a good environment. I was here at 6am and spent the entire day here on Wednesday. It was nice. But this business practice is distasteful. I’m truly baffled. I wouldn’t leave a positive review for a years worth of free drinks.
I had a great time here tonight on the rooftop because it accommodated both my smoker friends and non smoker friends. This place didn't have a coat room which was a little annoying because holding my coat on the second floor dance room was not great because it was very crowded. I wore it for a little while on the second floor but it got too hot. The rooftop was excellent. There were a lot of heating lamps. There was great music and it was nice to be able to be with all my friends without half of the group going to smoke and the other half staying inside. The drink prices were expensive. Bud Light was $6 and a shot was $10. Not great if your trying to have a cheap night. The rooftop is in a different rating category because I would give it 4 stars and I would give the second floor 2.5 stars. The reason I didn't love the second floor was because of the over crowding and the sticky floors, it was hard to move. Overall, it was fun and the staff was fast at getting drinks. The bouncer was cool, he loved my puma jacket. The guys managing the stairs were not very nice, but they have a job to keep people moving so it's understandable. Music was house, mainstream and typical club music. Good place for a night out.
Ate here with my boyfriend on a Tuesday. We shared an order of wings which were coated just right, not too saucy, and were savory and sweet. I ordered a Pilsner and my boyfriend got (two) Hefeweizens. I can't remember the exact names of the beers, and am too lazy to look it up or call, but both were good. I ordered the Al Pastor tacos, which had pieces of crispy pork, sauteed onions, and cilantro sauce, which were delicious. My boyfriend got the Yimchurri tacos (sp?) which had carne asada, onion, cabbage, and salsa. Also very good (I made him give me a bite, I did not give him a bite of my food). The bar tender was delightful, knowledgeable of the menu, and quick to refill water and beer. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the ambiance was nice: pretty chill with a pretty low level of noise the night we were there so we were able to chat at a normal volume. The rooftop was open, which we checked out and people seemed to be enjoying, but it was kind of hot out that night so we opted to sit in, which we did not regret. Good experience, would definitely return.
Wow, where do I begin? Literally walked in, really excited to grab a drink and guys were blocking the stairwell. Not a big deal, they made room for me and my girlfriend to walk in. Went to back bar, and I went to restroom while my gf sat at bar. Came out and bar tender didn’t even look into her direction, girl behind bar didn’t even answer my gf when she said hello. Amazing. Like we didn’t even exist. What made it most awkward of all, the place was empty. We were the only people sitting at the bar. We were completely ignored to our faces. Thankfully, City Tap was a few steps a way, where we were greeted and seated immediately. I planned on spending a lot of money and inviting friends, instead you made an enemy. Not a good look, as I’m friends with some important folks in town, but that’s another story. I would advise anyone interested in a good time, never attend this poor excuse for an establishment.
I worked at this location for over a year until I moved and must say it's one of the best places I've ever worked. The staff is quality and diverse, some have been there for many years which makes for a good experience on both sides. I've been told there has been a change in management but don't worry, the guy running it is wonderful and been with the company many years. Atmosphere is a something for everyone and I mean everyone. Sports, bar crawls, dance music, company private events, you name it! There is a rooftop, it's open all year long- heated in winter, fans in summer. They show all the pay per view fights with little or no cover. Wings are very popular but if you're the healthy of the group, salmon burger- salads with grilled chicken ect. Things like honey mustard are made in house!! I look forward to seeing the new look with the remodel next time I'm back in DC
I would like to start off with I have been here several time before and previously recommended it to anyone but not after tonight. tonight I went with a group of 10+ friends. while waiting in line for the roof top bar my girl friends and I were approached by a bottle girl and asked to go upstairs. we didn’t think anything of it and followed. we were escorted to the vip section where we told “be nice and you don’t have to pay for anything”. this immediately made me uncomfortable but I thought to give it a second chance as this a previous favorite bar. while there we were pressure to take shots with random old men. after this we left bc we were all uncomfortable with the situation. women should be protecting women not sexualizing them to creepy old men. I will never visit this bar again and will tell anyone I know to stay away
Bouncer let’s this group of guys cut my girlfriends and I in line. we skirts/dresses on while these guys are bundled up in sweaters and they actually looked like they were in high school bc I’ve never seen so much face acne on multiple ‘grown’ men. When we went inside the same guys walked up to the bar right after us and still ordered first. Seems like something weird going on. The ‘TABLES’ are literally like school benches and tables behind like a rope for airport security queuing and soo crammed and lame. The music was bad and vibe was pretty cringe considering how it was now saturated w what looks like mid-puberty high school boys. I would HIGHLY avoid go to sauf haus next door or don titos or Clarendon ballroom anywhere but here it’s never fun here all love though ❤️❤️
Came here for the Panama-USA Gold Cup Semi-Finals. They had two floors playing the game, one in English and one in Spanish. It was great that there was a place to experience both. We ended up on the floor with Spanish audio and had a great time overall. Alex was our bartender and he was amazing! The salsa/bachata dancing on the floor below had some competing audio, but wasn’t an issue until later in the night. My only complaint was that after 9pm the volume of the floor below overpowered the speakers where we were watching the game. However, the overall vibe was good and it was a great place to watch a game, socialize, get food/drinks, and enjoy an evening.

Solid sports bar. We were on the second floor which I think is the main floor. Tons of TVs and one giant projected screen. But nothing seemed to be in true HD! Very sad. The projected screen was also terrible. Players all looked like they had an odd outline; they looked like ghosts to be honest. Good crowd, drinks were flowing, and the bartender was overworked but awesome. She was patient with a lot of people, knew when the game was about to be over so asked people if they wanted to close out tabs, etc. She deserves every bit of her paycheck. But understand that a 20% gratuity is already included on your bar tab. Food was just okay. Had the burger and BBQ wings. Both were fine but nothing to go out of my way for.
My friends and I love Public Bar! The music is always great and the service is wonderful but honestly what sets it apart from similar establishments is ABBEY. She is always so lovely and welcoming, and I know that this is universal because my friends have ALL independently felt the same. If she’s working your table she is attentive, super fun and just meets you where you’re at—I’ve never felt pressured to do anything differently or into buying certain things. That’s all to say if you’re ever at Public, or decide to get a table, request Abbey! It’s hard to go wrong at Public but I can promise you’ll have a wonderful time with the best vibes
Amazing Bar with an Incredible Rooftop, the atmosphere is inviting, the staff very professional and the drinks are AMAZING!!! the Blue Drink they serve at Bachata Brunch Sundays on the rooftop is addictive yiu can not just have 1 lol. The Vibe and people were great can not wait to go back on a Sunday and Dance my Sunday away. I felt like I was in Miami or somewhere different. The new looks of the black and Pink Flower wall was spectacular, and that glass Rooftop in the summer will be open they say and like we are in the sky. I Highy recommend going on a Sunday or any weekend to Public Bar Live in Dupont circle.
This bartender was awful. She sat on the ice cooler (with her feet up on the counter), texting away. Rolled her eyes everytime I tried to get her attention (minimal times when I needed a drink or the check). Then when we had a question about the check, she refused to listen to our question and was immediately rude. She rolled her eyes even more when we asked for a manager. Fortunately, the manager cleared up the issue and gave us a small discount. He was kind enough to listen to our question and address the issue without the hostility. However, we won't be returning.
Came here with a friend for Thursday night football. This place gives you a dive bar experience for upscale prices. We spend $200 on Drinks and shared 1 order of wings and fries. We had to order double shots to limit the number of trips to the bar. This made the drinks $24-32 each for lousy drinks in plastic cups. The bartenders are definitely stingy with the alcohol. I have definitely been to places and had a more enjoyable experience for less money. Wings were pretty typical and were $18. The prices don't match the experience offered. I will not come here again.
I went here for an after-work happy hour with many colleagues from my company and a few partner companies. The atmosphere was good, and honestly I'd recommend it for a typical downtown bar experience. However, it was not well suited for our happy hour, and I imagine it wouldn't be a great choice for similar events. The music was blaring, even though everyone was dressed in a suit and trying to mingle - clearly not there to dance and lose hearing. I asked the staff to turn the music down and they said they would, but it never got any quieter.
UPDATE: Apparently my first review only extends to college football. It was great for Saturday because apparently it's more of a college bar. When I went for NFL gameday, they had two games on their many screens and when I asked for all of them they added one more. We finished our beer and went to a different bar. This is the best place if you're looking to watch football in DC. They have the best set up of screens, with one giant screen that holds about 8 games, 15+ smaller TVs in the bar area, and each booth has its own as well.
Got completely scammed by this place and our whole friend group got robbed while inside the club. We got a VIP table and it was not worth it at all. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Music was mediocre and there were way too many people to do anything but stand still. There are much better places to go in dc. This was our first time going and it will definitely be the last. We ordered some bottles then immediately got kicked out and they let tons of random people in our sections. This place SUCKSSSSSSS.
Awful. Just awful. I'm writing this review at halftime of a World Cup game. The place is so cramped. The DC fire marshall should look into this. Meanwhile, they have a huge place reserved for people who pay insane amounts of money to reserve tables - enforcing nothing short of class discrimination. Never come here. Saw waitresses having to push through the bodies of men to deliver drinks to almost empty paid for tables. It's appalling. Witnessed table of people moved off for paying group at half time. Disgraceful
Hey Public Bar. I go every Wednesday for salsa con candela. I love your bar but I just wanted to point out that Orlando Machuca is by far the best instructor in the DC area and you’re doing a disservice to your patrons and especially to the Latin dance community by not having him teach EVERY Wednesday. The other instructors are okay but they just don’t match up to Lando. Please invite him to come teach us every Wednesday!!! Thanks.

This place is so fun and lots of different beverages to pick from! Going during the day Saturday was a good choice! It seemed like a couple events were going on where people were celebrating something and getting bottle service so that made the place have even more energy (bubbles, signs every couple of minutes, DJ, beach ball thrown, etc). Only con is that the rooftop deck is not stiletto friendly, ladies you WILL get your heel stuck between the planks; you have been warned. Cheers!
Are there zero star reviews because I'd like to leave one. They were kicking people off tables during a World Cup game because someone "bought the table" halfway through the match. Letting more and more people in as the place gets suffocatingly crammed while keeping a massive space for people who paid hundreds of dollars to reserve tables. It goes against the spirit of soccer and the world cup. Do NOT come here to watch football. Never setting foot at this greedy place again.
This place is one of my favs places in DuPont Circle area. They always have a great offer in Live Music or Dj’s. They have a great sport games offer too. Very friendly and kind service. The venue has two different floors and a rooftop. All of those with full bar and great ambients. Always is a joyful and fun experience to be there! 100% recommend!

This is a dangerous place to go to. I just got kicked out of there after one of the workers pushed me down the stairs and I dislocated my whole knee and then fainted because I was in pain and shock. Only one of the female employees helped to get me downstairs after I was unconscious for more than a minute. My friends kept telling them that I wasn’t drunk but they did not care and literally forced me down the stairs with a dislocated knee.
Decided to check this place out on Sunday for some dancing, and was immediately met by some bad vibes from several male employee's who seemed to be watching and following me everywhere I turned. I felt very unwelcome and it was a very uncomfortable short experience. Only the rooftop was open, and I watched several people leave as fast as they came. The only good thing I can say was the bartender was friendly but the drink was overpriced.
Public bar live is a great spot to catch the UFC Pay Per Views. I was stoked to find this spot and discover that they play the full event audio for all the biggest PPVs. Nice affordable drinks and good vibes. Not to mention the top floor DJ spins the best party beats you can get down to in-between bouts. The only downside as a fight fan is the lesser PPVs take backseat to the party music and you won't get the full audio experience.
My mom and I enjoyed a night out on the Rooftop while my daughter attended a local concert. Everyone was so polite and friendly. The bartenders were awesome and so was the female security guard that helped me to safely escort my mom down the stairs. The music kept us dancing and the wings were delicious. We were only in town for the weekend from North Carolina, but if we come back I'd like to turn-up again at Public Bar Live!
Horrible service. Disgusting bathrooms. All the TVs went out permanently in the middle of Game 4 Finals. I even heard the bartender complaining about working here. Staff aggressively ignores customers. Later, I asked to close my tab and she just walked away. Bad food. How does this place have a 3.5 star average?? ***i have actually updated this review 3 times sitting here because it keeps getting worse.
I am giving this place 4 stars solely based on the fact that I am leaving this review on a Tuesday night, at 10pm, and they are jamming out with the DJ. Sometimes you just want to shake a little booty during the week and this was the perfect NOT club scene. Step out with your peoples and kick back and enjoy the tunes. It isn't super busy or anything, just good music and a cool ass buff ass bartender!
Love this bar! We had so much fun on the rooftop on Saturday. It’s definitely a vibe and one of the BEST HOT SPOTS in the city. The staff was so friendly and service was great! Get a VIP table so you don’t have to wait in line. The bottle girls are the best and know how to party. Tables sell out super quick so reserve them early or they’ll put you on their waiting list.
My first experience at this far was great. But little did I know I was going to be wrestled by multiple security guards to the floor because they can’t handle a 5’2 125 girl that’s really sad. I was accosted by a guy and I was the one that got thrown out honestly don’t go to this bar if you’re a woman you’re going to get harassed by men and then thrown out by security.
This is a great place to watch a game. They have multiple levels including a rooftop (which is great) and a floor which you can rent out for an event. Limited beer selection The only drawback is that when it gets packed on the bottom floor the AC doesn't do enough to keep the place comfortable. In other words a lot of sweaty people watching sports can get old quickly.
Fantastic venue in all seasons. Great crew from bachata brunch and staff that work at Public Bar Live are professional. Security is never an issue and amazing atmosphere fulfilling a easy going social dancing all night long. Don't miss out it's worth the visit and if dancing isn't your scene it's an amazing sports hangout with multiple screens and never miss a game.
Place was fun but when I ordered 2 rail drinks at the bar, I got charged $30 for Titos. It was clear that I was ordering well liquor. I assume they were trying to take advantage of their customers, especially since it was late (midnight) and most of their patrons had been drinking for a couple hours. Will not be returning due to shady business practices.
An overrated and somewhat expensive bar. The line outside is quite long on weekends (at least in the summer) and the cover charge can be pretty steep. The atmosphere is nothing special, average rap and pop music, and a packed but not very vibrant dance floor. The staircase is also very packed at times and you have to wait just to move to another floor
Cool space with lots of TVs for watching sports - three levels, each with a different vibe. 2 star rating for service. We ordered wings which took an hour to arrive. When we asked where they were, the attendant rudely dismissed us. The wings were cold & stale & came with the wrong sauce, we asked for the correct sauce and it was never brought to us.
This has 4 floors, music on each, interior design is pretty bomb. I love this place. DJs are amazing. They take care of this place pretty well. It's not like other clubs where those have awful stenches. This place does get packed, so I recommend to be prepared to wait in line, or show up early. They do have a $20 cover charge at the door, cash only.
Even though the manger who was Latino did an excellent job running the place trying to fix the ufc event and mange all the customers. Reservations need to be handled better. Food was great, especially the wings. But they ran out on A Saturday night. You need to work on supply chain and promotions. This place has great potential but needs more work.
I’m sorry I don’t usually leave reviews but they kicked my friend out bc two white men decided that he didn’t fit into the vibe and when I tried to ask what was happening they proceeded to drag myself and the rest of us out too instead of explaining what was going on. Do not go here unless you want to get dragged out without conversation
This is a fraudulent establishment. To say they have a lack of internal coordination and customer service would be generous. They need an organizational facelift with new and somewhat competent management who can at least give the appearance of relatively caring about their customers. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.
Decent prices. Your bare minimums offered here to pregame before walking down the road to DC Improv. Be careful, steep stairs and much needed buzz dont mix. This bar strongly encourages a healthy lifestyle. You hike 2 - 3 steep stair sets to reach the watering hole. TVs on the first level. And tvs plus basic bar games on the rooftop.
Surprisingly legit sports bar (lots of TVs)that doubles as a music venue. Wings are very good as well as other bar fare we tried. Rooftop as well as a stage over the upstairs bar gives a lot of cool and unique features compared to your average spot. Trish the bartender is also the best bartender I have encountered in DC in years.
Come for the games, not the vibe, service or offerings. Wings actually weren't bad but the drink was very limited to mostly cheap beer and liquor! All the games were on and staff was super helpful getting the game you wanted where you could see it... Mine happened to be on the big screen with audio playing, so that was sweet!
Lines are on and off...depending on what time of night you go. Anytime from 11-12:30 there's a line to get in. Three party stories with a high ceiling bottom level bar. Then a mid level dance floor. And finally a rooftop patio bar. It does get packed so be comfortable with bumping into each other. No parking outside.
Empty dance floor inside and bouncer at the door was rude - required individual masks for each party despite NO ONE having masks on inside. Place had an empty dance floor on Saturday night (10-11 pm). We went to Mayflower instead and had a much better time. Get some new bouncers if you want to have any business.
Went here for private day party. Great service, variety of drinks, however 2nd floor for VIP hot as hell! Need to get Ac Fixed or get industrial fans or bring yoir own. Hot like fire thought i was gonna faint several timez. But a nice place and "DONT DO COKE IN THE BATHROOM" omg this sign by restroom says it all
Public Bar Live, I think I love you. Servers were SO fantastic in making sure we had a great time, management was so pleasant in answering questions, and food was great. Also great health precautions - a uv light walkthrough, temp checks, hand sanitizer... I felt safe and comfy. See you guys again soon!
I was there on accident to watch the game and didn't know there was a whole club upstairs with my first round draft pick, Spanish women. Such a cool environment, good food, good service. I didn't get to enjoy the pretty Spanish women like I wanted to being that I was still dressed in work attire
Honestly, security is always friendly and understanding. I never felt attitude or arrogance from the staff or crew. Place is a solid time, especially during the latin scene. Can't same the same for places like TSR ♂️

Just finished DJing here and I really like the environment. Sound system could use a bit of work, but the bartender downstairs was great. Also on the second floor there's a video game pop-up every Tuesday now. Looking forward to working more with these guys and their collab with Hi-Score.
Multilevel bar in the heart of DC. Most people go to the rooftop at night so that area gets a little crowded. The other floors are a little more relaxed. Service is speedy in my experience. Drinks tasted as they should. Price was normal for the area. It's always been a good experience.
I got 4 drinks on the rooftop (the bar in the back) and the bartender charged me 20% Gratuity...I'm a bartender in DC and you never charge gratuity at the bar on a check. Had he had not done that he would have gotten more.

I am not from this area and when I got separated from my friends who live here the “bouncer” would not let me back upstairs to get to my friends. He was screaming at me and berating me and it was a very scary experience. Would not recommend unless you want to get degraded !
Newly renovated. This bar gives you a taste of everything you want in one place. Great place for happy hour during the week. It’s very diverse and on the weekends they have live DJs playing all your favorites. You must try the chicken wrap sandwich... It’s all in the SAUCE!
Great venue with a small yet pleasant rooftop. The music is excellent and was played at the right volume. The bartenders and the staff were very polite. I would say that it's growing as one of my favorite spots in the area for taking out friends and enjoying a night out.
This is a designated meet up spot for the D.C. Metro Raiders booster club. They always show us great service. There are three levels (including the rooftop), and many tv's to watch the big games. Happy hour specials and a nice food menu make the experience a good one.
Great live music, pleasant people, and no cover charge! If you like 90s/00s Rock N' Roll- this is the place to be on Friday Nights! Live music bands such as The Hillwoods, Lush, etc. perform here, and it's a blast. Going to miss this place when I move out of DMV!
This place is fun. It was a stop on a bar crawl I participated in. I had a lot of fun. Only issue was the bathroom wait tone but that can easily be attributed to the amount of patrons because of the bar crawl. they have fun straws tho.
Ok food. When we ordered Nachos they didn't put half the ingredients that were on the Menu! Chicken wings were dry! We went to watch the 49ers game and they moved us out before the game ended in favor of a private party!!!
I didnt like at all, the day went there was very hot the dance place its at the rufo, extra hot..they charge $15 dollars covers So many people like us yes left the bar, ahh the beers overcharge $10 a Corona …
If it has 0 option i will do it !!! This bar uses scam for tickets , they do an event and when you go to the bar they said is canceled , you must to pay another time to be inside ! This bar destroy your day !!!!!!!!
Love coming here on the weekends to enjoy a good game or just hang with friends. They have 3 floors and a rooftop bar. Stopped by recently for happy hour and was pleasantly surprised they had an extensive HH menu
Paid $50 for open bar on Eventbrite - there was no music, the bartenders seemed confused about the promotion, and there were 40,000 gnats flying around. One star for potential! I’m super disappointed.
Public Bar is great around 1130p. The music is livel (top 40 w/ a splash of classic r&b and rap songs), most of the bartenders are quite pleasant, and offers several free places to rest your feet.
The Monday Night Football game was on and there were plenty of Saints fans there. If you are a Saints fan in the DC area or just here visting on a Sunday, this is a good spot to watch the game.
Music is just fantabulous! 3 floors of different stuff. Sofas and a ball game. Food. Plenty of eateries just steps away. . Dancing. Drinks. No fuss. No muss. What's not to like? …
It was a nice place and environment. Music was good but it was crowded and it was really hot. They need better air flow. Overall good

Been there on Sunday , mix music. not a big place. But you can Dance and have fun. Prices on drinks are fair enough. bartenders working hard there and provide great service. …
Amazing renovations to this venue. All three levels are awesome. Great Sunday and monday dance crowds. Definitely one of my top 5 locations in DC to get out and have fun in the city
Great live music venue that doesn't cost you a fortune or ticket to get into. Lots of TVs if sports is your thing. The tater tots are delicious. If only every bar served tater tots!
Came here during a bar crawl just for drinks. Fun vibe with relatively quick bartenders. Multi-level with lots of stairs. Rooftop area has a cute flower wall along one side.
Seems like a pretty cool place except they had the games still playing while the band was playing. If it weren't for that, probably would have gotten another star.
Really good venue for games. Although guessing it's pretty packed when there's no covid. Solid drinks. Rooftop was a pretty cool vibe for a dance party too
Fun energetic. Different floor for different music. bartenders are great and you can get food too. If your in the 18th street area worth checking it out.
Tons of great TV's. Went to watch the World Cup, and had a nice time. Not sure how the beer selection was, but wings were above average. Great location.

Good service at the rooftop bar. Went there to see a world cup match and had a great time, during and after the game.
My artwork is there and they are going to be the #1 goto sports bar in DC. Plan your next party to be held there.
Was awesome. Great environment. Good crowd. I would have given it 5 stars if I hadn't been charged autogratuity.
Top sports bar in the DMV area! I’ve been there for World Cups and enjoyed the environment. Screens everywhere!

It shows that open until 10 am, but it doesn’t open when me and my friends came on 3:00a am
It's a fun environment, different floors to party and one of them usually has live music.
Good place for games but gets super, super packed. Try to reserve a table if you can.
Great salsa night on Wednesdays. Kind staff. Good sound system.
You're always going to have a great time. Love the staff
