Had my climate controlled very small storage unit broken into right in the very front of the entrance near the camera. It was a smash and grab and the lock on it was supposed to be the best of the best. The camera looks as if it doesn’t work and it was pointing away from the unit hall that was broken into. Talked to one of the staff about it and she wasn’t at all sympathetic but asked in a snotty kind of way “did you have insurance”? Which I replied yes I had my own insurance at the time. Which I received nothing because I was not aware that you needed to at least take pics of your belongings to prove ownership and write down the item name and description of everything you have stored and it’s value or else insurance is of no good. Also even more disturbing the price raised after the break in! Lol if anything it should have gone down. The stolen items were a tub full of name brand clothing items - some brand new with tags that I only noticed was gone because I had placed the items for sale online and people were inquiring to make some purchases. I won’t know what else is missing until I move into a new place and unpack. I moved out ASAP due to the break in anyway. And It was funny to me of all the halls that got hit it was the one my items were stored in. I feel slightly targeted. Maybe or maybe not. Guess I look like something LOL! Also I should have known to not move in there when I seen how despicably the unit halls were kept but I needed to act fast. Bet I learned my lesson. Lastly I don’t like the staff or the company they keep. They are all a little bit questionable acting to me. Anyway moved to a much better indoor storage where I feel secure my items are safe.
Clearly anyone giving Public Storage on East Street anything other than 1 star has dirt-low standards. I began renting at this location in Feb 2013 to store my business equipment. My rent was $127 at that time. Over the next 6 years, about every 10-14 months, my rent goes up....$146- Jan 14, $160- May '15, $174- April '16, called to complain...$155- Feb '17, complaint over...$190- July '17, $200- Jan '18, and finally...$217-,Feb '19. I've never been late with a payment, not one day. My unit is clean and well kept with no trouble. I've had to replace 3 tires in the last two years due to nails. I've complained multiple times about nails, screws, trash, human feces, etc. being all over the place. The light in my unit didn't work for about 2 1/2 years and complained constantly. My rent went up, but no repair. The district manager told the desk person to tell me that "they aren't required to provide electricity in the units". It was an existing light that was there when I moved in! Shameful. Currently, a 4x4 piece of drywall from the ceiling, which fell off during one of the last Winter wind storms is sitting up against the wall in my unit. I've called multiple times with no response to voicemails. I've stopped in the office, and nobody is there. But by God, my rent went up again this month, like clockwork! Oddly, if I move out today, I could get online and rent my unit for $167. This company has no loyalty to good customers. Yah, I could move out, but I can't beat the location and access for my people. I'm hamstrung by the convenience. But, take my advice....don't rent from Public Storage, here or anywhere. Horrible customer service on par with Comcast! Shameful!
Our storage unit was broken into twice. We lost over 500.00 worth of items. We couldn't use the insurance that was mandatory because we didn't have proof of ownership for the items that were taken. The 2nd time the unit was broken into I had just had a major surgery and after I listened to the voice mail that they left I called them twice a day for a few weeks and NEVER received a return call. Due to my surgery I was unable to drive or stand for long periods and needed additional information regarding filing a police report and what my options were due to my current condition. I never received a return phone call. Then one day, I get another voice mail that they need me to come and unlock my unit so they can change the hasp. Since I was at work I had to call them back on my lunch break and got a voice mail, again. I NEVER received a return call. When I went into the office I asked the lady why my phone calls were never returned at first she ignored my question so I asked her again, making sure to make eye contact and her answer to my question was "I don't work at this store, I'm just filling in for another person". Wrong answer, you ALL work for the same company. I also let her know that there were several indoor units where the entry door was hanging by one hing. Her response was once again that this isn't her usual location. THEN, I received an email that my monthly rent is going UP!!! Needless to say, I remove what was left of my things. I will never use nor will I recommend this storage service to anyone.
When We first moved in a year and a half ago our storage got broken into. We believe it was the fat chic at the front desk. We called the police. Nothing happened. Now for the lady 2 months our door will only open a little bit. We've put in maintenance requests, nothing has changed. They were supposed to put on a divinci lock, nothing. Today I crawled through and saw it was because the ceiling is caving in. I've called them 3 times today and allegedly someone is supposed to contact me and still haven't got a call. I'll be wrong if I take the ceiling down myself. We ate moving next weekend and wanted to go through and throw stuff away but they won't even call us back. However if by next weekend they still have not opened it then I'm taking the ceiling down myself, they can add it to my credit for damages and I might get back to them. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION ON EAST STREET. HORRIBLE PLACE
This is my first time writing a review for any place. I have always liked Public Storage. The customer service that I received from Jessica made me come on here and make a special review. She has a bright personality and is very personable. She is a beautiful person inside and out. Good job! Keep up the good work. In response to Jena Sallee’s review- I believe I know who you are talking about. I think her name was Denise or something like that. If that had been my first experience with this location, I would have made a similar post. She did make it a point to stress that this is not her location and that she just fills in here. She had a nasty arrogant attitude and ignored me as I spoke with her as well and avoided eye contact. Jessica is the best though. She really cares and has a great attitude. I hope you get to experience her.
Very horrible storage place. There is not a live person there, when something happens you have to call a number. There is no security and your items in your unit are not safe at all. Our unit got broken into as well as other ones previous to ours. They are breaking into empty units because there is no locks so anyone can lift the doors up. They are destroying plywood and climbing in to steal everything they can. According to police it's homeless people breaking in and the storage unit will not release video footage to the detective. District manager stated the units are now secure. Um if they are now secure are you saying they weren't before? If you ask for a new unit they tell you that you have to go to the kiosk and press a button and tell them to change units. Um why can't you do this over the phone? Don't rent from here.
The fact that it closes at 6 everyday and 5 on Sundays is the most disrespectful storage facility I have ever used lolbvs. I cannot wait to buy another home with the adequate storage I need as to never need to utilize this facility again. The prices rise with out warning with no explanation, unless you call and wait 2 days for a call back (must have missed the small print on that one). I rarely interact with the staff, as I am always driving 95mph to get there from work before they close, in which I did receive a warning for leaving out of the facility gate at 6:11 pm. So I can't comment on customer service. This facility is for those who make their own work schedule or are indeed retired. Not the best for 9-5ers like myself, or anyone on a fixed income. Good Luck Though
(Public Space raised our rate by over 50% within the first 4 months of renting!!) My wife and I are currently in the process of building a new home in greenwood. We needed extra storage space as we transitioned into a apartment for a 6-7 month period so we looked for who had the most reasonable price. Public Space had the most reasonable price by far for a 10x10 which was $53 but 4 months into this 6-7 month renting process they jacked up the rate to $80 a month. That’s a 50% increase on what we agreed apron and I was told that corporate has the right to do it at anytime. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I would transition to a different one if it wasn’t going to be a waste of time with another admin fee on top of it. Id recommend extra space over them.
When we first moved in, property manager, Jessica assured us that the property was always clean and she was always out walking property to pick up trash, etc. In our short 3 month stay, we had to replace 3 tires due to nails from the property, had weirdos approach us, causing us to leave unable to get our stuff out. Men will just sit in their vehicles in an aisle, as a woman, freaks me out making me just leave. Glass was ALL OVER the ground where our unit was. NONE of the lights on our aisle WORKED in the time we were there. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST- upon move out, HUMAN FECES (no dog could release what this looked like) WAS SITTING A FEW FEET FROM OUR STORAGE UNIT. HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN?!?! safe to say we no longer store our things here.
If you need any assistance with customer service, be prepared for incredibly long wait times on the phone. I received an erroneous bill in my email after moving out. My account balance still said $0, but the email caused me to waste a significant chunk of time trying to track down customer service to clarify that I didn’t owe anything at all. While on the property, I noticed that another unit’s door was broken/dented from the outside, and the items inside were reachable and not protected. Also note that this is not 24/7 storage but can only be accessed during work hours. Overall, I would not recommend using this facility. It doesn’t seem to safeguard people’s belongings and the waste of time with customer service is really frustrating.
This is an edited review. The same person who helped me a little over a week ago called me to tell me I left my Storage unlocked on Friday. I told her to please lock the door because I couldn't get there until tomorrow. Amanda told me no problem. She will lock it with a Davinichi lock. I found a ride the same night and when I got there she was going through my boxes. She was very surprised and told me she was trying to fund a name to figure out who's stuff was in the boxes. I have called the police. No wonder all the reviews say it's an inside job with the thefts. Totally true and I caught this thief red handed. A call to corporate will be my next call.
Started out rocky but Nikita was very helpful in assisting and getting everything taken care of. I have been there for 3 months now and she has gone out of her way to help with everything I need. And she is fun! Management is awful though, thankfully I don't have to deal with them (Erica) on a regular basis. The information says, the area is lit in the evenings and there are lights on the units, but they have never been on when I have been there at night. Not sure they even work. It is a convenient location from my home and office, which is why I chose it.
Our unit was broken into, I do have a police report! My husband was incarcerated they would not let me into the unit until I had a power of attorney,in which I do understand that but once I was approved they would not let me transfer it over to my name so that I could get the app and pay it through there!! I continued to get calls from them asking for my husband multiple times after I explained he was incarcerated!! There was a lady that called and told me my stuff was up for auction the 14th it was auctioned off the 4th
My daughter rented a unit. They cut her lock off w\o contacting. They said they did but that was a lie. They said she brought bugs there & she didn't . She had to vacate the unit 2 wks after paying rent. I will N E V E R recommend this so rage place to N O O NE. They was very rude & unprofessional. I know of other ppl who have rented there & when they came to remove there property they ended having bugs. So if you do not want bugs do not rent @ the East St. Location.
I was told I could have access to the storage unit I paid for after 9pm my kids went there a man a woman came out on them told them if they opened that gate they would go to jail. They said these people were high on something or up to something. They made them leave . My kids had to go a hotel wait till they opened take the load in. I don't understand what happened there because I spoke with a guy he gave me access for Saturday and Sunday night.
Horrible vile and rude employees. My spouse got a unit and stopped paying it after we split. It was autioned off this past week and their employee at the time and their blog stated I would be able to recover my personal effects (pictures, papers). The woman that called me today said they would be thrown away if left behind and I wouldn't even receive the opportunity to recover things that can NEVER be replaced. She hung up on me TWICE.
Price was fair but now I see why it was so cheap. Can't get to my stuff after 6pm. Not for working people I guess. I arrived at 6:15 this evening to be locked out and have to come back tomorrow. This place isn't friendly for working people. That's ok I immediately set up a move out. I was never told the gate access was too restrictive. Don't know how this place stays in business.wont ever use them again after this.
Nikita was VERY helpful! She explained everything very well. She was personable and friendly and even had a few laughs with us. I chose this location because of the reviews and I now see why people go here! I highly recommend storing your belongings here! They were very professional and to the point. Also make sure you make a reservation online for your unit! Thanks a bunch!!! You will forever have my business! :)
I rented a unit at Public Storage for years. They raise the rent every few months. Their storage units aren't very good quality. I asked to have the late fee waived during this epidemic and they did once. All the years I've been there and they couldn't work with me! They won't give you you're money back if you pay for the month and decide to move out!
I was recently at the location in south east street. The lovely lady named Jessica that was there to help was amazing. She was very friendly and informative. She helped me with every question I had. Jessica seemed like she cares about the people who come in. I feel very comfortable with storing my belongings with public storage. Thanks Jessica.
This place is not a good place you don't have free access to your storage when you want because they lock the gate by 5 or 6 pm when i first rented the space i had to pay uhaul extra for more days because of this places hours I wouldn't recommend this place if your moving a 3. Bedroom house there and for the price you pay it's just ridiculous.
I was helped by Nikita. She was courteous, efficient, helpful, and awesome to talk to. I can't say I've had a good experience with public storage on the one other occasion I rented a space from them, but because of Nikita they will get my business again. Thanks Nikita! I hope your supervisor sees this because you deserve a raise!
Rachel was great. Even though she was real busy, Rachel put all my questions and concerns first and got me in my unit in a very very good timely manner. I appreciate everything Miss Rachel did for me. Thank you. This place needs to find me people like Mrs. Rachel that is dedicated to her job to employee. Thank you Rachel.
Nikita was amazing! I went in this past weekend not knowing what the heck I was doing because this is my first time getting a storage unit. She eased my mind and helped me to understand what my next steps would be and what to expect. She was VERY friendly and upbeat! My experience was amazing and it was because of her!
Extremely terrible support. You can call 10 times a day and leave voicemails and they never return your call. I’ve tried showing up in person and always see their sign saying they are out of the office. Customer service should receive 0 stars. Their units are fine for storage, just need better employees.
Nikita at the desk helped me check in for my new storage unit yesterday, and she was just delightful. She made the process super easy, answered all of my questions, and didn't pressure me into purchasing extra services. Based on my first experience, I will definitely continue to store at this location.
I brought my mom in recently so she could look into getting a unit. Brant was very patient with her, friendly and helpful. It made the experience for my mom so much easier having such a knowledgable and nice person to work with her on it. She and I really appreciate it! Thank you Brant! : )
I'm very unhappy with storage right now they changed my hours again it was 6:00 to 9:00 then it went to 625 and now it went 9:30 to 5:30 I don't think they're doing me right they keep limiting when I can get in there I pay on time all the time and I don't think they're doing me right
I went in today to rent a storage unit and Nikita was very helpful in getting me started with the unit that was right for me. She was very pleasant, and offered all the right things to help me get my move started. I will likely recommend Public Storage to any one who is in need.
The manager was aws9me in getting me the best storage for my belongings. Gate hours are from 6am to 9pm. You have to have a cylinder lock or pay 20 dollars for one. I went to the hardware store around the corner and paid 6 dollars for one. Please keep that in mind.
A lady by the name of Monique helped me and she was extremely helpful and resourceful with answering my questions. Most of all she was polite and professional. Public Storage should be very proud to have someone like Monique working for their company.
Purchased a unit that I would have access to from 6am to 9pm. After a few months the shortened the hours of access to 6am to 6pm and raised the rental rate I was paying. And for the last week the keypad has been broken so I have no access to my unit.
Staff is not the greatest, also not ideal I am paying almost $100 for a 10 x 10 unit a month. Also unlike other storage companies, you are only able to gain access to your unit within certain hours. I will not use this company again in the future.
I had a pleasant experience with Amanda and she was very helpful and knowledgeable. I will definitely use this facility again if I ever have the need for it. Amanda should definitely be recognized for her friendly service and extreme helpfulness.
To start they did not honor the discount that was offered on the website of their home page. There was no access after 6pm which is when alot of people are getting off work. Hard to catch anyone in the office or by phone. The real kicker is
Other than the small hidden costs they don't tell you about online, the quick service was pretty good. I don't like how they "force" you to buy their insurance, or their locks when you first get the unit. But they took them off pretty quick.
Well I went in there to get a storage unit 5x5 she charged me $71 didn't give me no paperwork then she said my storage unit was due on the 1st and I said well I just paid $71 I think it was on the of August and I said well I paid that much
I throughly recommend Public Storage. David was extremely helpful and through in the explaination and tour of the facilities. He has old school customer service with the flair of humor and friendliness. That is something that is very,
David helped us and provided exceptional customer service. He was very helpful and professional but friendly as well. If more places had employees like David the world would be a better place. Thanks David and Public Storage
The storage unit are a bit on the older side but overall I had a good experience and found the staff to be extremely helpful. One person, Pat, went especially out of her way to make sure everything was taken care of for me.
All kinds of tools and accessories at a good price. Granted...some of the items that are super cheap are super cheap for a reason..but, generally good tools and products. I enjoy aisle surfing and checking out the selection
Jessica was delightful and so helpful. She knew her stuff and really helped me through the process of setting up my storage space. The storage unit is clean and easy to access. And I love the access hours: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
When I started renting my fee was like $80. Now they have raised it to $107. I've had to throw away some of the stuff due to mold. Can't wait to get my stuff out of there. I will never ever use this place again ever.
very excellent customer service , chelsea was very helpful and outgoing . answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. She was very friendly and helpful , definitely would recommend renting here.
So pleased!! We have been renting from Public Storage on S East St in Indianapolis for months now. The staff is fantastic, especially Chelsey who helped us numerous times. We are very grateful, thank you!!
Customer service sucks! Prices are raise every 6 months. Started out paying a little over $100 at initial move in now we're up over $300. Not worth it. Can't access my stuff after 6pm. Not worth the money.
I just want to share with all the people out there that I just have the most amazing costumer service that I had ever experienced;)) thank you Monique so happy and grateful for your kindness!!!;))
Monique was knowledgeable and handled all the customers in the office professionally and with efficiency. Great customer service experience and got us what we needed right on time! Thanks Monique
First rate. Denise was exceptionally helpful to me on multiple occasions. I appreciate the professionalism, friendliness, cleanliness and personal attention I have encountered at Public Storage.
My husband and I went in to rent a unit and Jessica was wonderful. She had tons of knowledge and helped us with everything we needed. We will definitely recommend this facility to others.
Nikita took the time and patience in assisting me. She was very helpful and kind. Very accurate in explaining paperwork and procedure at a time when I was fragile and pressed for time.
Monique was very kind and helpful. Her kind spirit helped me get things in order during a stressful time. The process was fast and easy, I would definitely recommend storing here.
Monique and Denise are great people and their services we're excellent. They gave me a brand new lock and a new storage unit for free!!! I love them thanks guys you rock!!!
Denise was very pleasant and helpful while we looked for a storage unit. She was very professional and honest about the units. She made the experience a good one.
Hershey was amazing (and so friendly)! I couldn't get into my unit due to rust on the lock and she was able to get me in so quick! I really appreciated the help.
Very friendly staff and they showed us exactly what we wanted. It was quick easy and we couldnt be happier with the customer service. THANK YOU Nikita :)
Nikita is friendly and upbeat. She does her job well, great customer service skills. I would truly recommend public storage as long as she is there
It was so great to have a smiling face behind the counter! Nikita is very friendly and made the experience of renting our unit fun and painless!
I reserved online and needed to upgrade to a larger unit. Nikita was extremely helpful. She was also very positive and make my kids smile!
I absolutely love Chelsea. Here customer service was amazing and she helped me get the appropriate size storage I needed thank you so much
The manager Chelsea was great! She was multitasking multiple customers and handled it like a boss! Thanks so much for all the help!!
Stopped in to pay bill, Chelsea was EXTREMELY helpful and very pleasant to work with. Highly recommend working with Chelsea.
The unit looked like it was falling apart. You can’t access after 6 so it’s had to get in when you work during the day. My
Jessica helped my wife and I out with a unit we needed. She was very sweet and helpful. Thank you for wonderful service
Very clean, and friendly. Had many questions and concerns, but Chelsea was so helpful, and answered everything.
Don't do it drywall kicked in and they failed to tell anyone about work being done. So could get in for 2 days.
They painted the doors, and made a mess all over my stuff in the storage in the process.
Everything was professional expedient and straight forward . …
Extremely pleased with the service provided! Definitely will recommend!!
Mice infested and storage has holes in most of drywall
