We began looking to replace our family room and lounge room suites last year and after spending several hours looking and sitting on suites in the furniture shops along Whitehorse Rd in Nunawading, we came away very disappointed. Very few lounges were actually comfortable to sit on and good advice was scarce. Having lived in Montmorency for 25 years we'd forgotten that a local furniture store, Purdy's, had reopened several years ago - so I ventured in. Firstly, they are big and carry a broad range of stylish furniture so you can try and compare many options. Secondly, they are extremely knowledgeable and are prepared to share their knowledge and advice without pressuring for a sale. Thirdly, they spend time going through all the options and they understand that lounge suites are a big purchase that's not made often and needs to time to get right. I returned several times and Natasha and Jeremy always responded to my new questions and concerns about size and colour and fabric with patience and good humour. Without Natasha's advice I would have made the wrong decision (for our family needs) on fabric and Jeremy's guidance in custom designing our family room suite was invaluable. Finally, they actually make quality furniture on site and at an extremely competitive price. When we couldn't find anything to suit our family room needs and space, we had them custom design and build our family room suite and the finished suite is comfortable, practical and looks fantastic.

If you walk into Purdy's and think "Gosh this stuff is expensive", think again. Whatever you purchase from Purdy's you can be guarenteed of absolute quality and beautiful furniture that will probably outlive you! My wife and I have been shopping at Purdy's for more than 20 years - we are addicted to their furniture and our home is almost like a Purdy's display lol. Apart from the furniture, the incredible help, advice and friendly service from the owners Jeremy and Natasha is "second to none", there is nothing too difficult for them and their wealth of knowledge on their product is excellent. Here's another helpul tip, they also build to order if you have something special in mind. Would I recommend Purdy's to anyone, in case you haven't already guessed, absolutely and without hesitation.

Old style furniture and coffee shop in Briar Hill This shop has been here 35 years that I know about , it started life as a second hand furniture shop in a old building.Due to constantly producing high quality furniture and really good customer service it has grown into what it is today which is a great furniture factory and coffee shop.Out the front of the shop is Purdy’s tribute to Briar Hills favourite crossing man Geoff who has since past Brilliant quality furniture , the price matches the quality. but worth paying for

Purdy's have good range of good quality furniture at reasonable prices. A lot of the furniture is made onsite. We bought two very comfortable wing chairs that were custom made by Purdy's. These were made very quickly and I can't fault the quality . They are good to deal with and were very patient and helpful in choosing upholstery fabrics. If you live in the area or even a reasonable drive away they are definitely worth checking out.

Jeremy was beyond accommodating when I walked into Purdys looking for a blue velvet lux couch for my new townhouse. Not only did he custom make the couch, he was also able to custom design & build a corner dining booth to match. Went above and beyond by delivering and installing before Christmas ! Very reasonably priced and both pieces are stunning....Couldn't recommend more. Thanks Jeremy and Natasha for making a house my home .....

This is our favourite furniture store. High quality custom made furniture crafted on-site in solid timber. Stuff that will last a lifetime and beyond. Friendly staff, and a wide range of timbers and fabrics available. You may have to wait a while for your furniture to be custom made, but it is worth it. The cafe is good, too.

We have had custom made furniture from Purdy's over the years and are extremely happy with the excellent service and quality. Jeremy and Natasha were very patient and helpful in every way. I have sensitivities to chemicals and they couldn't have been more accommodating. I am very grateful for their help and understanding.

It was well worth the wait! Our furniture arrived today and the workmanship and overall quality of the timber is terrific. We ordered six pieces all with a 60s flavour and a hint of Scandinavia. We could not be more satisfied and a special thanks to Jeremy who visited our home to advise us on the stain to be used.
