"From the view point of a disabled person: Mediocre gym"
"I travel a lot with my job and used a lot of good Puregyms, but Brunswick falls far below basic standards"
"Good amount of parking but the gym is lacking in equipment compared to other puregyms, even the other puregym in central has more"
"Im afraid I cant recommend this gym if you are interested in free weights"
"Little issues that could be rectified appear to be overlooked, the disabled toilet that is used of a night has been out of order for 10 days, all it needed was 2 screws tightened on the door handle and job done but it has now lead to a prolonged closing and no communication about what people are to do with the facility out of order"
From the view point of a disabled person: Mediocre gym. They only have one machine per muscle group and there are no machines designed for disabled people. Anyone wishing to do weights and visits between 5pm-7pm will have to wait for turns which makes for a bad workout. Didabled people can not gain access after 8pm for safety (how patronising?!). There is one clearly labelled disabled toilet downstairs and able-bodied toilets upstairs but seemingly most of the people who work out here including some personal trainers use the disabled toilets due to it being convenient as they don't want to haul themselves upstairs. When asking the manager whether something will be done about able-bodied persons constantly using the toilets, they stated that they knew it happened but can't stop other people using it. 3 words. Radar door lock. Being disabled is hard enough without inconsiderate able-bodied persons making it harder. The disabled parking bays are also used by those that don't display a blue parking badge even though there's plenty of free road side parking if there aren't any spaces. For a gym that rants and raves about being inclusive. They're not. If you're disabled and want to look for a good gym, look elsewhere.
I travel a lot with my job and used a lot of good Puregyms, but Brunswick falls far below basic standards. A messy studio with steppers slung to one side, poor class timetable, a faulty rickety shoulder press (first one as you go in) shows kit is not being tested properly, broken cov safety signage in changing rooms, broken sink unit in men's which people are chucking used tissues in side, changing room checks not being done which is evident in the check form (not checked for 6hrs when I looked), most locker doors open, treadmills filthy, rubbish on floors and I could go on. There's also black dumbbells scattered on the floor by the main set as apparently a rack won't be purchased for them so they're just thrown anywhere. The urine stained floor under the urinals is just disgusting too and the damaged wall pillars in the free weights are just being ignored. By far the worst Puregym I've used and will not be joining when I move to the area next week. I was going to speak to a member of staff about this, but could not find anyone so pressed the assistance button which no one responded to. I've uploaded photographic evidence. Manager get a grip.
Good amount of parking but the gym is lacking in equipment compared to other puregyms, even the other puregym in central has more. Needs hack squat machine, glute bridge machine, a defined track for lunges / sled pulls. I raised this with puregym they just told me to dance in the sun basically Showers are hit and miss, when managers are in, they're cleanish when no heads are in it's a state. You'd probably get cleaner by jumping into the sefton park lake Would advise gym staff to challenge people more for being scruffs and not putting weights away or have more signs on the walls. Also challenge people that park right outside the gym in the disable spots (that are not) There's also a weird spiral staircase, it's meant to be "one way up" but people and even staff use it to go down as they're lazy so it ends up in a Mexican stand off on the spiral stairs Overall it's a cheap and cheerful gym but has potential to be decent
Im afraid I cant recommend this gym if you are interested in free weights. There is not enough machines, squat racks or benches. There were 2 proper squat racks, 2 bench press racks, 1 leg press and 1 pec deck. Pretty much 1 of everything else. Its really not enough for a gym of this scale. The space can easily sustain it, just needs more investment. There also needs to be more plates with proper policing of tidiness (I shouldn't have to search for 1.25kg plates!). There is a good amount of cable machines which was great; however, the range of attachments was barebones. Ive been to gyms with half the space with twice the equipment in the free weights section (no exaggeration) for similar prices in the South of England. I will be exploring the other PureGym in the city but if it is of similar quality, I will be cancelling my membership and staying at my current gym.
Little issues that could be rectified appear to be overlooked, the disabled toilet that is used of a night has been out of order for 10 days, all it needed was 2 screws tightened on the door handle and job done but it has now lead to a prolonged closing and no communication about what people are to do with the facility out of order. Overall the gym is very good and is spotless of a night (credit to the cleaning team) when I go but equipment at times when out of order takes an age to be fixed. Why not train some of the staff to fix minor issues and be more pro active?. Train staff on the basic maintenance it will save money in the long run. Back to my starting point about the disabled toilet, 10 days is not acceptable for any member who requires the use of this facility and this should have been treated as a priority.
Love this gym staff are very co operative and supportive and friendly they also have helped me with getting myself on track. The classes I attend 5 days a week are great but I'm very disappointed that they are stopping the Sunday circuit class for a yoga class can someone tell me why when something works well and has a great response of members attendance Puregym have decided to take the Sunday circuit of. I welcome the yoga class but could this not be put on at another time. Please re consider this change as I am aware members who attend this class are absoluty gutted. Shirley Jensen-Elliott
Love this gym, staff so polite, always wearing their PPE and always one of them cleaning, often the manager no less and not just emptying bins. They offered to help me put my weights away and find others and always asked if i was ok when i looked lost in a new gym. Absolutely put the one in Stretford to shame, where trainers stand in groups unmasked, and there’s rarely anyone walking the gym but occasionally the actual manager and only sometimes ask people not to hang about in groups. how are they the same company?
Great gym, clean, presentable and well run, approachable, friendly staff. Not much waiting for equipment. Would have been 5 stars but the water temperature in the showers is tepid at most and frequently bounces from cold to tepid and back. If they fixed that it'd have been full marks but if you work outdoors as I do it's a serious letdown after a cold day outside! Bit gutted really seeing as I'm paying pool and health spa money for a gym that has none of that stuff, fix the showers folks please x
Friendly staff, very clean. However, very busy which leads to a lot of the equipment not being available. Leg machines are always used up in mornings and afternoons especially the leg extension which you will struggle to find free even at 10pm never mind during peak hours. Other equipment should be available during peak hours but you may have to wait 5 minutes or so. I really recommend the gym purchases another unit of each of the current leg exercise machines.
Pretty good in general, but definitely needs more deadlift platforms and the air conditioning in the weights area is never on Edit (25/08/2021 - 2 years after first review) - Still little to no airflow in weights area, always stuffy and humid. Edit (14/12/2021) - I think the a/c in the weights bit has got a little better? ...but it is just cold outside. ALSO the system is hooked up the wrong way In the cardio bit hahahaha, it blows out of the inlets.
Love the fact that this place has a car park. It's the reason I chose this gym as the one in town would be a nightmare to get to. I go quite early so the equipment is always free. There's plenty of equipment to choose from, everything is clean and well maintained. There's usually a staff member wandering around if you need assistance and you need to scan your gym barcode in order to get into the gym. Very secure.
easy to find gym with a big car park. lots of new equipment with everything you would expect from a new gym. large weights room with lifting platform, weight machines and cardio area, smaller area upstairs with plenty of mats, kettle bells, gym balls etc.. with a TRX frame, ropes and boxes. basic changing rooms for men and women. can be very busy at times though.
This gym was great for me as a beginner and as I’ve become more experienced I wouldn’t move anywhere else at this price point. Everything you need is in here, the staff and customers are always friendly and respectful. I’m slowly becoming more confident with the range of equipment and I’ve always felt comfortable with the non-judgmental and inclusive atmosphere.
Not the biggest free weight area but that's not for everyone anyway, could do with a few extra bits of kit but there is limited space so its forgivable. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is lots of people ignore the wipe down policy and it doesn't seem to be policed at all which is annoying. but you get what you pay for and it's decent value for money.
I never thought I would join a gym but wanting to lose weight and tone up I joined pure gym sefton street the manager Danielle and staff are all very helpful nothing is to much trouble it is nice to be treated the same as fit members I have also made some great friends and would highly recommend this gym mainly because of the staff and the atmosphere x
Great gym. Clean showers and changing room facilities. Good range of equipment from cardio to weights to machines. My only criticism is that the floor mats on the 2nd floor stretching area in front of the mirrors are filthy. I go into the gym with grey leggings and walk out with black patches on my knees and legs from stretching.
Great gym with an excellent selection of equipment, always clean and full of very knowledgeable staff who will always go the extra mile to help out. I've been around 70 times in the last 3 months and never struggled to get on equipment even at peak times. It's open 24 hours a day and even has a nice feel at 5 in the morning
good gym but needs to keep up with machine maintenance ,rowing machines all with no battery, disable toilet out of service for weeks, gym needs a upgrade:( i Just rejoined the gym again but most cardio machines still in need for maintenance ,rowing machines all without batteries.
been coming this gym for years and can't fault it. all the staff are great and classes are fab. love the afternoon classes with jade and kamal in the evenings, they really put you through it. not to mention wayne alan and liam, all fab classes... ps bring back alex!!
Good clean gym, plenty of equipment. Does get busy at peak times, 6pm-8pm but all gyms do. The app works great, so you can see how many people are in and how busy it is. The app also let's check classes, bookings and timetable. Overall a great gym.
All the PTs are the friendliest of any PureGym I've been to across the whole country, first thing I ever did here was Saturday Circuits with Jade and have not missed a single week since, one of the best classes there is, please never get rid
Absolutely filthy showers, toilets and changing rooms. No cleaners in for 4 days. After approaching staff and manager over the past few days to suggest they might clean the area have been told they are waiting for cleaners. How ironic to
Lovely gym you will never have to wait for a cardio machine but will inevitably wait for a space in the weights room. Cardio space should be about a 1/3 smaller which would solve the problems of waiting for weight machines and benches.
Me and my sister have started to attend the Wednesday 1:15pm cycle class with TerriAnn And it’s the best class we’ve been to so far she’s so attentive and motivating . Looking forward to continuing this class !
A good gym, the online system is kinda odd but modern, my only problem is that the gyms ive been to felt really welcoming and was easy to say motivated in, still a good gym, i just gotta warm up to it more
Loads of free car parking spaces, good selection of cardio equipment, weights equipment and Free weights area at the back of the gym with a fitness studio upstairs for the group classes during the day.
I don’t mind this gym it’s very affordable and convenient for me, I would like if they would invest in a few more mirrors around the gym so I can check my form and appreciate what I’m building …
Good place to do your daily workout, three stars because there is no swimming pool or boxing classes there. One more thing the staff are friendly but they don't give advice unless you hire a trainer
Great little gym, have access to this and all other pure gyms as part of my membership which I think is fabulous. Has everything you need for a good workout and equipment all modern and immaculate.
Great so far, plenty of equipment, free parking, also around the corner from Brunswick train station (if need be) Plenty of classes available starting from 6.30am to about 8pm... ☺️ …
Great local gym. Often busy but always plenty of gym apparatus available to use. Comfortable atmosphere, nobody bothers you but help is at hand if you need it. Really good sized car park.
Attended Puregym Brunswick on Thursday evening and found inadequate cleaning facilities in the weights area on the lower ground floor - there was a single spray bottle with no tissues.
Great gym has more to offer than most gyms but while keeping it simple and cheap lots of classes and great equipment and friendly staff always seem willing to help and give advice
Really good Gym. Plenty of machines and the workout areas are separated (Stretching, cardio, weightlifting). Always plenty of parking and they have free classes if you want them.
Been going a couple of months now, the gym can get busy at peak times but this is expected, it’s always very clean, the weights are generally tidy and the people are friendly.
To many people not enough equipment, also if you train there expect to be waiting for everyone to be sat on equipment and on there mobile phone so waiting time is even longer
Great gym with a vast range of equipment to suit all abilities. Free classes and open 24 hours. Friendly, helpful trainers who have extensive experience and knowledge.
As a member of the pure gym it does offer good prices and quality equipment but with no sauna and swimming pool on offer I can only give it 3 out of 5 stars.
I was going to join, but after buying a guest pass and reading the newest reviews it just isn't good enough. Management need to sort out that mess of a gym.
Fully kitted with cardio machines and weights section. Like the fact I never have to wait for a machine to use and it's very spacious with decent parking.
Great place to start and get fit anytime day or night Dont like it busy, be aware of peak times when its most likely to be. Glad ive re joined …
Good quality equipment, clean, good parking etc but turn that f*****g (so called) music down (or preferably off, everyone's got headphones on anyway).
Inside is clean. However doorway smells of alcohol as if people have been on a night out night before. Not sure what it is but it's quite strong.....
Awful! music blasting from speakers way too loud. I try to use my headphones but it's blasting adverts and cheese music like there's no tomorrow
The layout is pretty chronic, staff keep a very low key and it is normally too warm. It's well equipped though and reasonable value for money.
Plenty of new, well maintained equipment. Huge free weight area. Plenty of staff around to help with questions. Kept very clean and tidy.
Good gym, but would REALLY love a deadlift platform next to mirrors rather than in front of. Would be great for checking form …
Great gym with everything you need to reach your fitness goals! Open 24/7 and all of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful!
Great facilities. All i would say is avoid between 5 p.m and 7 p.m. its always very very busy then. You struggle to get a machine
Good clean gym. Just really busy when I went on multiple occasions. Never really went in the day though so might be better then.
Great gym for the price could do with more free weights and policing the meatheads who constantly park in the disabled spaces
Great place to work pts are lovely great facilities the manager Danielle is a lovely lady to work with what can I say …
This is 1 of the better gyms iv been its very clean. This place is open 24 hours a day and has everythink you need in a gym.
It's a decent gym but there's often some broken equipment and missing hooks and handles for the cable machines. Open 24/7
Fabulous Gym, everyone is friendly - great vibe too. Brunswick Railway Station is only a 5 minute walk away from the gym.
easy to get to. Not too many members, though one member of staff is particularly rude...the rest of the staff are lovely
Clean & properly equiped gym with a decent car park. If only it had a sauna would be 7 stars... Keep up the great gym
Great gym, fantastic trainers, extensive range of workout options. Never bored here, though used to find gyms boring!
Great gym, lots of equipment and good value. Busy in the morning on week days but quiet in the day and weekends.
No proper ventilation and air-conditioning. After 10 minutes workout you feel like fainted and suffocation.
Convenient location for me. Plenty of equipment in good condition and plenty if space. I enjoy going there.
Great gym got lots of cv equipment and weighs area, number of classes going and staff are very friendly.
Nice restaurant and have excellent meals It is my favorite restaurant and good treatment with customers
Just outside of town and free car park. All the equipment in good state and place kept clean and tidy.
Great wee gym staff are brilliant, the leg equipment is superb good hack squat makes a huge difference
Great gym, clean, tidy. If you want access 24/7 to well equiped gym. I bet you wont get disappointed!
Awesome gym but could do with more space and equipment as gets busy very quick due to lack of space
A peak hours you will often struggle to use the equipment you want. Especially bench press area.
Hi is this gym’s parking free?? And for how long bcz i just joined the gym so don’t know thanks
Excellent facility with well maintained instruments and nice environment, ample parking space.
Brilliant Spin class...trai er was so motivating and the class was so much fun, hard but fun
Can’t fault it whatsoever great staff, great equipment just a great all round experience
Great gym, plenty equipment and friendly staff but a bit too busy around 5pm weekdays.
New year new me! Great place to start journey with gym. Good luck for everyone …
Good place but a lot of the machines are not working however the atmosphere is nice
Nice open gym, doesn’t get too hot and there’s always enough equipment to go around
Great gym. Great location and the weights were put away. Clean showers and toilet.
some staff are to be taught a lesson in behavior and courtesy towards the customer
Excellent, friendly supportive trainer. Friendly and positive vibe from the place
Old equipment, needs a service. Depressing lighting and overall showing its age.
Airy, open and a great selection of equipment, rarely have to wait for equipment
Toilet facilities are disgraceful, considering how much monthly payments are.
Nice and clean and the staff are friendly, 24 hours and the equipment is good
Needs more benched and another couple of squat racks please!? …
Great gym very clean and free flavoured waters with the plus membership!
It's the gym I use, and is reasonable. Nothing special, but it suffices
Love this gym. Great staff and clean equipment. Would recommend …
Love the 24 hour open service but late night was quite cold in the gym
A Clean and well kept gym. Lots of great equipment and helpful staff.
It's okay for size best going off peak hours to get full potential.
Fantastic 24 hour gym. Fantastic employees, including the cleaners!
No fuss gym. Decent equipment. Can be very busy during peak hours.
Good value 24 hour gym with clean modern facilities and equipment
It's a 24 hour gym with all the gym stuff, what more do you need
Clean & Well equipped, classes I've been to have been good too
Amazing customer service and a great varieties of free classes
Free parking. Never too packed. Classes do not include yoga.
Great gym, friendly staff, very clean and well looked after
Well ventilated, many machines available, 24/7 services...
