I just want to share my bad experience from the QBD Chatswood book store. I went to the QBD Chatswood book store with my 3yo book lover today. He chose 4 books and sat down on the floor and asked me to read the books. We started reading the FIRST book when a staff member approached us and told us "If you want to read books there is a library near here. Go to the library to read books" I immediately thought WHAT!! Is this real that a book store staff told me to leave a book shop!! She has kicked me out because I was reading the book with my 3yo son. Another staff member was convinced that she didn't do anything wrong when I was about to complain. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT these two staffs had no idea why I was so upset! I don't buy books EVERY SINGLE TIME I visit but I have bought many books from the store! I couldn't believe what had just happened in the book store! Even if I didn't buy a book today I could buy books in the future and my little book lover is a potential CUSTOMER to them!! How could book store staff discourages people to read books!!!!!! I am wondering if everyone who visits a book store should you buy the books every time? Without reading the books could you tell what to buy? Should you buy only based on the cover? I am so angry what happened at the QBD Chatswood book store. I hope no one experiences this EVER AGAIN at the book store.

Disgraceful attitude from the staff. I entered the store with the intention of purchasing books that I have had my eye on for quite a while. On my way to the checkout I witnessed a staff member reprimanding a boy (about 10-12 years of age) for reading a book on the floor. This is would have been understandable had there not been a lady sitting on the floor in the same aisle, doing exactly the same thing, to which the staff did or said nothing about. The boy did as he was told and stood up however less than 2 minutes later was approached by the same staff member and was asked to leave because “this is a store not a library, there’s a library nearby if you want to read!” All the while the lady in the same aisle was still reading the book on the floor. Safe to say I did not purchase the books from this store. After walking out I saw the young boy sitting with his grandparents with a look of total defeat on his face. This boy could have been a customer and yet was met with total disregard. I will not support a store that displays hostility towards children and diminishes rather than fosters their love for reading.

I had to say I wasn't surprised with the negative reviews about unfriendliness from the staff of this store. We had the same experience, which made us feel pretty bad just being there. When we finished at the counter the woman didn't even say Thank you, it was THAT BAD! The staff was only friendly to a selected few or they're just plain unprofessional. Either way it's ashamed because all otherwise it's a nice little stop to get your reading sorted. To make a simple awareness for the store: you don't have to be friendly but you do need to be professional. And if you're just slightly abit friendly you're much more likely to have people come back AND spend money there. To be honest, after the occasion that the thin woman at the register didn't bother to say Thanks to me when she handed me the receipt, I never wanted to spend money there ever again!

What a great shop! Not only are there the widest variety of books, but the staff are incredible when assisting in any search. Move over dymocks, Angus &a Robertson ect. Because these guys are the real deal. I've been back to this store over my life hundreds if not thousands of times and have been incredibly looked after every single time. If they don't have a book in store they'll be more than happy to order it in for you, and they are always able to get them in quickly and never fail to let me know when it's arrived. Pretty much, if you need a book at the best price, with the greatest customer service - going anywhere else would be ridiculous.

One female staff is very mean at the store. She judged my family because my daughter stayed for 15 minutes to choose the right books that she likes. We have bought so many books for my daughter from this shop over the years, so she needs a little more time to find the next & new favourite. If there are time restrictions on browsing before buying, the shop should have a sign or somehow communicate with clients. Or check membership info since we have our membership then staff would know clients’ purchase record and give some advice. This staff has provided no service but policing comments and offensive judgements...

Terrible customer service. Advertised as being open at 9am when it's actually 10. A woman was behind the desk while I knocked on the screen door, called and waited 25 minutes to ask about the opening time to be blatantly ignored. Finally somebody else turns up and they make some story up about "its illegal for us to serve you before 10am". If it was that illegal, I'm sure your managers wouldn't put it online as being open at 9? They both had zero idea how to explain the blatant ignoring of a customer so they got stroppy and repeated the "legalities of pre-10am service". Just walk up to Dymocks

Shocked by how unfriendly, cold, helpless and impatient was this certain female staff, I purchased $200 worth puzzles and she was completely useless, very negative. I just saw her name from my receipt. Her name Soshana. I love QBD books. But because of this rude staff. I just never want to go back to the store. Even my 11 yo stressed because how rude she was to my daughter. I can see so many people wrote a review about her attitude. But QBD store didn’t do anything about.

A mean and rude young female staff said to my 10yo girl ‘ if you are not going to buy put the book down’. I was at different area to choose a puzzle box. I cannot believe the QBD hired such un-educated & un-trained staff to work at front. Wake Up QBD Chatswood ! I believe you had enough negative comments on the same staff.

Friendly and accommodating staff, while the store might not be the largest there's a pretty nice selection for the size. Often has sales and if you need something specific, the store can order it in. Location on the bottom floor of Westfield isn't hard to access.

Always very helpful staff at this lovely shop, it has recently been remodelled and looks great. The book prices are the best in Chatswood. They have recently also combined with the National Geographic Store so now there are even more surprises to find.

Conveniently located in Chatswood Westfield on the lower level, near the Coles, in Sydney. There are books, of course, but also a lot of games etc which is handy if you need a quick present and don't want to battle the labyrinth of Target and the like.

Bookstores feel like home. This store is close to the grocery spot and I love window shopping often. They renovated a while back which was nice. The staff are very friendly - they are knowledgeable of books and give good recommendations.

Room comfortable but could do with a refurbishment, especially the bathroom. On website breakfast is included, but this is not true. Breakfast message needs to be removed. Good secure parking. Close to shopping centre, a short walk.

Brilliant staff and service. I've been many times and always happy with my purchases. No matter how busy the shop is, the staff are very helpful and friendly. It's great to be a member, especially if you forget what you bought!

Just had to join to gain even more discounts on current sales. Fantastic variety to choose from for all ages coupled with very effective and efficient friendly staff. Go and visit and I'm sure you won't leave empty handed.

Friendly and helpful staff, though it is a rather small store so selection is limited. They can order most books for you online but I've found that unfortunately you can usually just order it yourself for the same price.

Good books, lovely shelves, organised always a pleasant experience. Many varieties, always get what you need. Always got new stock, one of the best at getting new book. Just the price is way to expensive sometimes

manager was outright done with us, very eager to get us out of the store. bro I don't even know why, maybe she was having a tough day but a friendly bookstore visit turned into me not wanting to come back

I was there today 4.11.19. I bought a book. Have been several times before. The staff are always helpful. They can order books you request that are not in stock. I go there all the time I want a new book.

Didnt buy a book. Was here for kids Halloween trick or treating event at Westfield. Staff super nice and dressed up and ready to give out candies high fiving kids. I'll buy a book next time.

It's a good bookshop, especially if you're looking for more popular titles. It's not as big as most of the Dymocks branches, but a lot of the time the books are slightly cheaper.

Staff lady was very rude and impatient. Not sure why. I think she doesn’t like you reading the book in the shop before you buy. I will buy from dymocks instead
