Ok, now this is a toss-up because on one hand, the place is amazingly beautiful, well maintained, private, and from the one day I have visited, uncrowded which I love. However, the reason I justified paying $35 dollar permit fee is because I planned on fishing. Now I'm wondering if that was a good idea. I dont mind seeing a turtle every now and then when fishing, but this lake is so overcrowded with them that they were swarming at my lure and my crawfish trap. I had to keep pulling the trap up and emptying anywhere between 5 to 8 of them out of it, and that was nasty because these critters had critters lol. I noticed that leaches were falling off these turtles. They werent covered in them as far as I know, but when I lifted the trap off the wood, there was 5 or 6 of them scurrying away. I know.... gross right? They DO make good bait though lol. So for my first visit, I cant condemn this place. But I sure wouldn't swim in those waters, IF you were allowed to, which you ARE NOT BTW! And I'll have to wait to judge the fishing after a couple more trips. But if you want a place for playing with your dog, or picnicking, or just a nice stroll across the lake in your canoe, this would be the perfect place.
Perfect park if you want to walk, not too big or small, and if you're bored, you are within walking distance from the domain. But the sights at sunset are worth seeing. There is a restroom next to the pond and rock. Usually, there is someone nearby you can ask. The park is very dog friendly. They even have bags you can take to bag your dogs poop. And a trash can, too! There are a lot of good spots for a picnic, or just to rest.
Playground
No playground
Restrooms
There are restrooms next to the rocks by the pond, it's the biulding right next to where the bridge ends
Dog-friendliness
Very dog friendly, they have a bag dispenser and a trash can free of charge
Picnic area
Lot of good spots for a picnic, you have to look around. One good one is on the sand area
Quarrie's Park has this great little beach spot. Perfect for children under eight. It's about 70 yards long, 20 yards wide and at its deepest four feet or so. My kids play in the sand, walk out into the algae filled water, look at turtles and small fish and generally have a blast. Make sure you go with them. I'm in the water the whole time, my little one needs me at least once a trip. Also support the organization and Google buying a lake permit. It's $45 for a year and for us it's well worth it. Can also rent kayaks and canoes I believe, although I haven't done that personally. Tons of people fish there, it's catch and release only.
We went with family and friends to quarries park. It was definitely very good experience. You can enjoy nice lake view and can play frisbees, baseball or cricket with your kids. My kids thoroughly enjoyed being here. Icing on the cake is you can see lot of turtles in the lake. Kids enjoyed watching Turtles as they were quite close to see. You need to be careful though with regards to the ants . There are lot of ants on the grass. You can cover lower part of body with full pants and shoes. I would recommend to visit this place for sure as it is very calm and not crowded much. It would be good break from our home in this pandemic.
It's so peaceful. There's canoeing or paddle boating for 10$ for the day. Yes, the whole day or if I'm not mistaking 45$ for the year. All depends on u. There's a gym on site, basketball, walk trails, fishing. Or if u just want some alone time to think, etc. Good place to be with friends/family.
Nice and quiet, very few people. In the middle of the Hyde Park, no overnight parking. If you want to enjoy the lake you need to purchase a permit. Next to the Hyde Park High school. And there are several sports court near the lake.
A secluded, neighborhood park bordering a small quarry lake (with fish). There are no amenities other than a picknick table and a couple tennis courts. But it's not crowded and makes a nice destination for neighborhood dog walks.
Such a beautiful area of town, this little hidden gem is great for a picnic by the pond or hanging out in their pavillion. Some great photo opps, too, look out for a cute little bridge over the creek!
There are many nice fields for sports and games and nice ponds. If you own a kayak or stand up paddleboard you buy a lake permit from the Hyde Park church to go out on the lake.
Love that its hidden and quite. Sit relax and watch the sunsets with the duck. You can do fishing or canoe or kayaking. Beautiful place to hang out.
If you like to fish, this place is amazimg. $10 will get you a years fishing license. Several 5 lbs bass in this lake and it's never crowded.
In a city riddled with consumism, shopping malls and crazyness, some green grass, a lake with fresh air and quiet sightseeing is a great deal
Beautiful park, love the lake side. Somewhat clear water, it was great for my dog to be off leash and into the water. Will visit again soon
Beautiful scenery but no fish only turtles. I have tried several times with lures and live bait, nothing. 45usd a year to access the lake.
Such a nice and scenic place to stop by along my bike ride. I was surprised to find this right by busy MoPac (Loop 1) in Austin.
Real Nice...and the lake is Great for Fishing. It belongs ,,as far as I know to a private school. But the gates are open.
We were at a kayak demo, we had 4 for other people to demo so we were there all weekend, it was really fun …
I had so much fun on my first Kayak trip! I'm ready to go again. It was so peaceful and very well maintained.
