"This place is so amazing"
Okay so I was really excited to go in here. I heard they had a children’s section and brought my kids so that they could enjoy the bookstore experience as well. I even found a few books that I liked. First problem:Regarding the books in question, he took my name and number and said he couldn’t sell them. I am not really happy about that as I was from out of town and came to visit so I couldn’t come back. Why have the books out of you are not ready to sell them. I will say he said he would ship them to me after he appraised their value which I did appreciate. Second problem: my children utilized the area that was for kids (it had children’s books, a toy table, and building blocks). When we went to leave after having had a pleasant visit the owner rushed out after us, and exclaimed can you come pick up after your kids. I tilted my head confused because we had stacked the toys back on the table where we had found them before we left. I went to go back inside and the owner was rude and snapped “never mind I’ll do it myself”. Taken aback we decided to wait outside for the last member of our party. Who let us know upon their exit that the owner was saying unsavory things about my family inside the store. Honestly I am appalled by the customer service experienced, and don’t understand why would you include a children’s section if you did not want children to utilize it.
I visited this bookstore on January 25, 2020. Upon entering into the facility, the bookstore had a stench of a nursing home that hasn't been up kept. The place was not inviting, but I went there to purchase a book for my son. As I entered into the bookstore, the owner was sitting at the desk conversing with a man. I patiently waited maybe one minute and I was finally asked if I needed assistance. I apologized for interrupting their conversation and politely asked for a particular book. The owner stated, he believe he has the book that I am looking for, but told me that I have to wait a minute until he finish talking. I immediately thought to myself.... I do not have to give this man my money for such poor customer service. I immediately rushed out of the door and drove up the street to half price bookstore. I will NOT recommend Quarter Price Books establishment to anyone. The bookstore seemed cluttered, old, with a nasty smelling stench and to put up with disgusting customer service from the owner with his arms folded with no care in the world to serve others should reevaluate himself. I was willing to try to overlook the smell and the look of the bookstore for the sake of my son. But, it all worked out in my favor. I didn't want to be there anyway.
Quarter Price Books is a bookshop for book lovers. Rather, it is THE bookshop for book lovers. It is a bibliophile's heaven on earth, thanks to the excellence of the stock, the endless surprises of its arrangement, and the proprietor's conspiratorial spirit towards the fathomless and timeless pleasures of reading. Be advised: this establishment is decidedly NOT the place to go with a specific agenda of any kind, other than to have the leisurely, book-loving time of your life. While I was ecstatically involved with exploring every item in the shop (close to two hours of glory), a would-be customer walked in, a high-school student who innocently asked the proprietor for a specific and very popular title (probably for his required reading list). He was curtly dismissed with, "We don't do that here." As he was walking out the door, I felt obliged to help the the abashed young man myself, telling him to go down the block (and down several levels of bookish inquiry) to Half Price Books, which was sure to have what he was looking for. The proprietor must know that a love of literature is, above all, an accumulation of kindnesses. In every other way, he demonstrated this principle to me during my long and happy visit to his great bookshop.
5 or 6 years ago, I had the opportunity to buy the entire set of The Story of Civilization from another bookstore. Long story short, someone else beat me to it and purchased all the books. Not only did I blow the deal but it is very difficult to find even a few volumes, much less the set in its entirety. Well, today, with the help of the great folks at 1/4 Price Books, I've redeemed myself with this set of the 1954 printing of the anthology. Plus, I got the original book covers. I ended getting a far rarer set than I originally would've and it was still a spectacular bargain compared to their intrinsic value. Many years ago, I purchased a set of 1st edition Winston Churchill's The Second World War from 1/4 price books, and it was the same phenomenal experience that I had today. The truly amazing aspect of both situations is that I spent years trying to collect each of the entire anthologies, but each time, within less than a minute of speaking to the owner at 1/4 Price Books. He led to the complete sets. If you're a true bibliophile or just have an appreciation for historically significant works, there is no better place than 1/4 Price Books to find your Holy Grail.
This place is so amazing. I love how messy it is. It has like a family owned business feel. The owner was amazing too. He was so nice to my son and me. At first when i walked in he handed me a coupon and then asked if I was just killing time or was i going to buy anything. I didn't get butt hurt and I laughed and said I wasn't wasting time and I toke his coupon out of his hand. I stud my ground with him. So then his attitude changed and asked if I needed a particular book and if I needed help finding a certain area.. He was amazing after that. I mean i get it. My family owns a small business. So I know how annoying customers can be people just get all in there feelings nowadays. Call down. This place is awesome though. I recommend it. He called me two days ago because I opened a book wish list with him, he found all the books I wanted
My friend tried to sell some of his books, but the owner only wanted hardcover books. There were some softcover books in the store, but the owner didn't seem to care. He spoke to my friend in a rude tone, and it made my friend feel unwelcome. I was also treated rudely by the owner. I was interested in buying a book, but the owner told me that I wasn't supposed to have it. He said that the book wasn't for sale, and he wouldn't let me take a picture of it and just told me to just remember the name of the book. He spoke to me in a rude tone, and it made me feel like I wasn't wanted in the store. I was disappointed that I couldn't buy the book, but I was more disappointed by the way the owner treated me. He was rude and unprofessional, and I would not recommend this store to anyone.
The store is definitely quirky. I was drawn in looking for refuge from the traffic in the area and claim adjuster related books. The owner was helpful and kind. I found a lot of worthwhile books, some of which are out of print, that I went ahead and purchased. This store is great for collectors, avid readers, and to find some rarities. The owner is intelligent, quirky, and knows his stuff. I see some reviewers were put off by the owner, I understand this, however it really to me is his passion for what he does not being terribly appreciated by a society that is really making bookstores like this become harder and harder to find. The owner is very kid friendly really encouraging the kids to read. Great place and look forward to a return in the future.
This is the best bookstore in the country for book lovers. First editions, out of print, selections you will not find anywhere else. I travel all over the country frequently and I haven't seen anything like this selection, anywhere. I had the honor of speaking with the owner for some time during my visit there about the book I purchased and the way they source their book collections. I walked away from here a wiser person. Some of the most influential people in the country -who are book lovers and have their own personal book collections-visit here on the down low, seriously. Just an incredible experience. I found a jewel to add to my book collection that I will pass down to my children. Do your soul and mind a favor and visit here.
The elderly owner/ manager is an asshöle. I went inside with my sister to browse around. Upon entering, the store was super cluttered and everything was organized HORRIBLY. it was honestly super annoying trying to find a book with such terrible organization. The aisles were cramped and there were chairs/ boxes in the way. We browsed around for a bit trying to give it a chance but I finally realized that the store wasn’t for us. As we were leaving, I politely thanked the owner and he snarkily said “that’s a new world record” (meaning that we were in there for such a short time). I’ve seen a lot of comments on here that the geriatric owner is rude. I’m all about supporting small businesses but stay away from this one y’all!
This is a hole-in-the-wall type of place which is excellent when one is trying to find nostalgia away from the Barnes and Noble. Expect all the books to be 5+ years old and definitely not a place to find new books. But I'm giving them 5 stars because these books have character, they have a history to each one where sometimes you can open the front cover and see how it was gifted by a loved one willing to share knowledge. The books are all in great condition, the place is quaint and full of quirks that makes it feel jam packed while also very cozy. The owner is a great person and very knowledgeable when one needs a small push in the right direction. This is the head quarter for thinkers
One of Houston's premier cultural resources. Curiously, this second hand bookstore usually has a better variety of books than a new bookstore or a chain. The owner is an educated man who recognizes important books from the present and into the deep past in all significant cultural genres. The chain stores focus on many copies of current best sellers. Educated people need to be able emerse themselves into an environment of books, to touch them and browse them, to feel that written words matter. Intellectual life in any city would be crippled without a store like this. We should buy books here beyond the value of what we take home, but because we need to support this vital institution.
So many of these reviewers are too sensitive. This is a wonderful gem of a bookstore. I only planned on browsing around for 10-15 min as I was in town for business and a friend highly recommended the place. Ended up staying for two and a half hours! The owner, Larry, had many fascinating stories to tell, as well as an incredible knowledge of all of the books in his store. I asked for a couple different titles which he did not have, but he made wonderful recommendations on similar books. I did not find him pushy in the slightest. I also found some incredible first editions that were in great shape. All in all a great experience and I will be back every time I am in town.
The store is small but jam packed with books. Most books are sorted and the manager even puts up tags on ones they find interesting or good reads. They have just about everything from philosophy to history to fiction novels. Definitely worth checking out. The manager can help point you in the right direction but its up to your "bookdar" to find something you want to read. You can spend hours here just looking through the multiple books with multiple languages. Even the older leather bound books are available and some older than the store itself. Student, teacher, writer, reader, whatever you are you're bound to find something good here. If not, try again the next day!
I remember this from when I was a child back in 2010-12ish me and my mom visited the lil store. I was around 14, and while looking around the store I saw a Garfield dressed up as Dracula plush and picked it up thinking I could buy it. I carried it around with me thinking I would be able to buy it even though it didn't have a price tag on it but when the owner saw it n my hand,he came over a took it from me setting it back on the self. I forgot what he saying as he took it from me but after that both me and my mom left the store and my mom was upset not believing the store owner did that And I'm 27 now and it's been at the back of my mind
This place is amazing. Best bookstore in the US hands down! This is the place to find those hard to find and first edition copies of books that actually makes you think critically. Larry, the owner of the store is an scholar and a legend. Every time I come to his store we talk for while about many books and many different topics. I always leave that store completely enlighten by his deep knowledge and humility. And the cherry on the top, he likes to play classical music on the background, always!. Simply the best place to absorb information and to have a great time. Highly recommend for the ones thriving for knowledge
Absolutely LOVED this store and its owner Larry. Upon walking in the door, I had asked Larry to direct me to the literature and philosophy. He instantly lit up with enthusiasm and carefully went through the books I could find and was honest about what I might not find. He was very helpful thoroughout my experience and this place has the aesthetic of a bookstore that would be pleasing to anyone. Baroque era music coupled with books stacked as far as you can see. Ended up walking out with what he called "real" books! Tender is the Night by Fitzgerald and The Fall by Camus. Cannot wait to come back here!
It was okay, but to be honest, it’s not as fun to visit as Half Price Books, or even Nan’s Comics. Plus, their stuff is a little too pricey in a way. If the owner just wants to shut this place down, which I don’t think he would (unless he wants to), that would be fine. He might have to consider doing a going out of business sale where all the prices are low, and he makes so much money from it. If he sells this shop to a Firehouse Subs, that too would be nice. I’m not trying to be mean, I just don’t think it’s as fun as Half Price Books. I’m not saying it to be mean; oh no. I’m saying it to be honest.
They obviously have a passion for literature and want to share it with as many people as possible. Lots of classics but truly something from every single genre of book is available. They also have special editions and books that are out of print. Their policy is "no duplicates", so you won't see two of the same edition on the shelves. You can find everything from the Quran to Robinson Crusoe and absolutely everything inbetween. The staff is readily available to help you find what you are looking for but will absolutely not interfere with your mindless wandering. I'll be back.
This is the type of place you go to find something unique. Me and my husband stopped in and explored all the interesting books. The owner was very kind, he even handed us a coupon. I ended up buying a signed, first edition of a book with author inscription I've only ever read about online. At check out, the owner told me and my husband a hilarious joke and was really nice / talkative. This isn't the kind of store you'd go to, to find the latest, greatest book. But, definitely a place to find one-of-a-kind or rare books. Great for bibliophiles or for thoughtful gifts.
The world needs more shops like this one. What a wonderful store! 1/2 Price Books is full of interesting reads, 1st editions and out of prints, and just about everything a book lover could want. It feels like a place that would only exist in some of my favorite books. I've just moved to Houston and this was one of my first stops; I feel so glad to have stumbled upon it! I can't remember the name of the gentleman who checked my boyfriend and me out, but he was delightful and intelligent. I will certainly be coming back once I've eaten up the books I got this time.
I'm a bit disappointed as I was quite excited to come here after seeing it included in a Houston Chronicle article on local book stores. I came in looking for a specific book and was greeted by a gentleman behind the counter (who through this entire encounter never looked up from his book) and I gave him the title and author and was instantly told, without any sort of search or anything, that I "couldn't be accommodated". Not sure what I did within the 30 or so seconds this encounter lasted to warrant such a rude attitude but suffice to say I won't be returning.
This is a hidden gem in Houston!! I came across this bookstore on a whim and decided to check it out and it’s a treasure chest of books—first editions, out of print editions and authors that I wouldn’t find else where are all present here. I love the vibe of this place as well I felt like I could spend hours combing through the books and it still wouldn’t be enough. I found editions that I had given up hope of finding and some authors I had been searching for. Needless to say I’m really glad I stumbled upon this place and I’d recommend it everyone
I loved this store. Book shops such as this seem few and far between nowadays. I found, what to me were some absolute gems, books that have been out of print for many years. I can't say enough about shops that have an air of nostalgia and inspire thoughts of hope for the future of book selling and buying. I frequently go into bookstores that buy and sell used, but many of them are watered down resellers of what is on the shelves at Barnes & Noble or other former big box stores. Larry's Quarter Price Books is what I wish was everywhere!
Quarter Price Books is a gem: the inventory is all-encompassing, the proprietor is engaging and perceptive, the atmosphere is quiet and full of curiosity, and the opportunity to find exactly what you need (or do not realize you need) is guaranteed. Those finds are likely to be very affordable--and definitely cheaper than if bought elsewhere. There is roadwork on the eastbound approach to the bookstore; just drive right through! The bookshop just on the other side is totally unique, and completely worth your time. I will return there.
I have been a patron of this bookstore for many years. Every week I come in to find a new selection of rare books on any number subjects. It is both relaxing and stimulating at the same time. I have cultivated a fantastic library by consulting with the staff, who actively search for rare books in great quality to add to my collection. The uniqueness of this shop may not be for everyone, but if you are looking to get serious about developing your mind and creating a personalized library, then this is your place.
This store is packed with a variety of old finds, good buys, and rare books. The owner spends his time constantly improving (it's been updated, organized, and renovated three times in the past several years that I know of), and is familiar with nearly every book on his shelves. I travel to Houston from Dallas every couple months and, even after 5 hours in a car, this is my first stop., as a place to wind down, find a good book, and it's just around the corner from a lot of fantastic places to eat.
This bookshop is an interesting little place. It has a lot of charm and unique books. I only say "like" because the guy who runs it can get a little sassy with you sometimes. And there really isn't any organization. It's hard trying to find a particular author or title. But if you like eccentric charm I would go here. They have rare books here too and in really good condition most of the time. But be warned, the owner can talk your ear off and sometimes be a little abrasive.
Hidden gem in Houston, worth the effort to find it. Great, eclectic collection of rarities, first eds, bound, venerable editions of some truly good books at amazing prices.Owned by a sprightly, white haired young man, who is a great conversationalist and a true lover of books for many decades. I only wish I had more time to spend in the store, but I happened to find myself here on the way to the airport. Something to look forward to on my next visit to Houston.
Not a place for bargains but high quality collectible books, which highly surprised me when I first came. Owner prices book by book so you know you might get a good deal if a book isn't his taste. There are many worthy reads especially the British/european kinds. I effortlessly spent a couple hours, sniffed out the tiny place. Come see for yourself readers, collectors; he asked me to give recommendation as business like this is rare and struggling.
Unlike any other bookstore you will ever encounter. The inventory changes so rapidly that it is always a new experience. Serious book collectors, intellectuals, and high cultured customers are greeted by name each time they enter. You can spend hours getting lost here or find yourself in philosophical discussions for hours with owner. Words can not express the experience.
Very quaint and organized place! I could have wandered around there for hours! Larry was very professional and charming and helped me out on some books for my classroom. I will definitely be returning here soon!!! Definitely a place to bring your business! By the way, the more expensive books were all first edition and author their signed, not overpriced in my opinion.
Excellent Houston source for high quality books, both content and rarity, cream of the literary crop, price in line with value. Knowledgeable, helpful, enthusiastic staff, thoroughly familiar with current store inventory and customer specific reading interests/wish list. Diverse and inclusive genres and categories. Convenient parking. A book lover's paradise.
You can spend HOURS here looking through the tall piles of books. In addition to regular books, they also have some first editions available. The prices are reasonable. Also everything is organized by category. There's something in here for everyone. Parking is a bit tricky due to the construction so you may have to park on the side of the building.
This was the BEST bookstore experience I've ever had - a bookstore where you're not afraid to reach, touch, grab and inquire. Owner was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I was impressed by the number of FREAT books in this store. Everything from miniature poetry collections to Aztec Ancestry, to signed leather bond 1st editions. Simply AMAZING.
This quickly became one of my favorite book stores in all Houston! They have such an amazing collection literally covering every subject imaginable. The owner is a very wise man and no matter which book you buy he’s able to give you insights on them and that’s just amazing! I’m sure I’ll keep coming here for the years to come, I love the place!
Very nice used book store! Lots of unique book options, genres were clearly labeled, and the owner was very kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend supporting them! There are some parking spaces - not a ton and there is some construction in this area, but it was still fairly easy to get to / access and I found a spot to park easily.
I and my boyfriend was moving around downtown and I don't think we talked to the owner but whoever was working today has a very cool background. The books are only collectibles and vintage but still very good bookstore if you are into different kinds of books! Can't wait till I can go there agian and maybe get some ice cream to. 5 stars.
Words can not describe how amazing this store is. The owner is a wonderful gentlemen who always asks if you need help finding what your looking for in the store. I am a huge fan of the signs that are placed to help you find what your looking for, and to show how the store is organized. The leather bound collection he has is beautiful.
Went in to check some used books . Unfortunately the customer service was disappointing (“ rude “ to be precise ). With so many 5 stars reviews given here I am puzzled , “How possible ?” . But one review I read really reflected what I have experienced and I know I am not the only one with such experience . Definitely will not return .
Owner was very friendly and gave me a coupon upon entering. Books are definitely old and I guess you could say quite niche in topics. There's certainly an order to his madness haha but asides from that, lots of interesting things to see. Some of those books date back to the 1600's! It's very cool, would definitely recommend!
Best place for hard-to-find books. Selection is very random and changes often. The older gentleman is very awkward and rude. Do not take out your phone in his line of sight or you will be accosted at length for who knows what, stealing company secrets? Great place for books; however the owner is an absolute goof.
I have been coming to this store for many, many years. If you’re looking for rare, antique, art, first editions, and unique books, look no further! The owner has an encyclopedic knowledge of his vast inventory and is very helpful. I love coming here and I always find something new to add to my collection.
Nice, cozy store. Excellent classification sorting and descriptive signage. Don't let the store name fool you, though. I bought 4 run-of-the-mill sci-fi paperbacks and paid 50% more than I would've expected to pay for the same at half price books. Oh, and try to not offend the clerk ... just sayin'.
Today was my first time in the store and I found what I was looking for. It was a great experience. It reminds me of a mom and pop that doesn't skimp on rich ingredients. It's a one of the kind place. If you love literature of any sorts, it's there. The gems you'll find are exciting. Happy reading!
Very wonderful shop that is excellently curated! Not a book store to go to for specific books, but rather a wonderful store to explore and get lost in. Lots of older books, many of which have some collector value. You MUST stop by here if you like books. (Also the owner is very kind and personable)
For the truest of book lovers, seekers of knowledge and researchers with the desire to acquire awesome books, even rare or no longer published books for their personally library. Excellent collection of material, unmatched selection and a true hidden gem for all literature enthusiasts of any genre.
The owner is truly the reason I wont come back. He made sure to make people feel uncomfortable if they did not have his knowledge of 1000 year old books. I watched as he basically made fun of one individual for buying a magazine and then praising another customer for buying a 100 year old book.
This book store is so cool! There are so many old books, first editions, out of prints about anything you could think of. There's even a kids section. If you're a local who hasn't been here or looking for something to do you should definitely go here! And the guy that runs it is super cool!
Even if you do not read you have to visit this bookstore.Forget the prices this is a universal gem. The energy surrounding the owner is nothing but light. Pleasant charming and extremely knowledgeable This has turned in to my new favorite bookstore and I didn't even make it past the 2nd row
An amazing stop. Came in with a friend visiting Houston who wanted to see some local bookstores. I'm so glad we came here. Such an amazing selection and so authentic. Places like this need our support. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for any sort of vintage or noteworthy book!
I had an amazing experience. The owner was super nice and made conversation with everyone coming in. It it truly a hidden gem in Houston! They have a different types of books, the place was so cute and quaint. I would go back for sure. I would recommend to tourists and locals book lovers.
You don’t come across bookstores like this often!! It is a complete gem! The store is unique and has books for any topic you could think of. I could spend all day in there. The owner was a sweet gentleman who was friendly and very knowledgable. Highly recommend stopping in!
A real Houston gem, for lovers of old books. The Owner was very engaging and obviously knows the book business well. Great host, as it was my first time there. He showed me the entire shop and the allowed me plenty of space to explore. Looking forward to my next visit.
An excellent book store to find 1st Editions and Volumes of hard to find rare literary works. The Owner is very knowledgeable and knows his inventory. They do buy although what you bring must be in great condition, otherwise do not waste your(s) or the Owners time.
Great local bookstore with rare finds and special editions all over the store. The owner seemed to care deeply about providing a selection that would satisfy even the most avid readers, had a great time talking with him. Definitely worth checking out.
Well curated used book store. This is a great place to find valuable collectibles, classics and other previously loved finds. Recommended for avid readers that want to reduce their carbon footprint and collectors that want to find something special.
Very cute little shop with a very different selection of books to peruse. Great if you just want to look around and find some books you’d never thought you’d want to read. Overall a very homey feeling place with a great book curator at the front
I came in this morning with my son and ask the man at the register if they had books for children and he did not say a word he just pointed to the back area. We evenly found the kids section. But was not a great experience. Not a friendly place.
Great little bookstore. The owner really seems to enjoy what he does and the collection is well curated. You won't find the latest overstock books fresh from the publisher, but you will find the next book you didn't know you were going to read.
Larry is an elite Houston icon. If you’re interested in anything you think has a book written about it… come here and stay awhile. Keep an eye out and an open mind to something new here in this amazing shop! Ask to hear some houston history.
I just don't quite get the pricing of some of these books. The owner is under the impression that just because it's a first edition a book is somehow a collectible antique and so it justifies a markup. Like another commenter I too think his
This place was amazing. If you love the hunt for great books, collectors editions, or that rare, out-of-print novel, this is the place. I could have spent hours in here and still not have discovered all the hidden treasures on the shelves.
Great selection of old books, from very affordable to more expensive collectibles. The owner is very nice and chatted with us for a while. My boyfriend bought a small booklet of George Washington’s speeches and letters. Will be returning!!
My first time in, I asked to be pointed in the direction of the reference books and was asked what exactly I was searching for from the one of a kind fella who runs this business. After a kind conversation and searching, I found a Roget's
Old and Rare books are sold here. They buy very few books at this time and the few they do buy have to be special or rare. No need bringing your New.. Old books here .One customer wanted to sell some new books or donate them. Th Gent was
I ran into this place one day heading to River Oaks area. It's a tiny bookstore packed (PACKED) with books. It's run by a quirky and very kind old man. I love used books, and he has a great collection in all sorts of categories including
This is an amazing gem of a shop! It has a lot of rare finds and an extremely informative proprietor. It was a great way to spend time on a lazy afternoon, and we left with an armful of books to keep us busy long afterwards, as well.
Larry is exactly the man you want to meet behind a desk at your local bookshop. He has a mental inventory of everything around him due to the effort and love he puts into finding what he's willing to feature on his shelves. He owns
SO many books, most are super cheap, you can get a bunch of beautiful old books & leather bound & author signed and gorgeous works; there's wonderful classical music playing in the background and the guy is so friendly and welcoming
What a wonderful surprise to find this place. So many hidden gems in the varied selection of books. The gentleman behind the counter was a true delight to work with. And can't beat their prices...even for the unique and rare books!
Great store with an extremely impressive selection. Seemed to be particularly strong in history and “classics” but there’s great variety. The owner is quite knowledgeable for collectors and general readers alike. Fantastic store!
Loved it! Nothing more relaxing than never ending book shelves and classical music playing in the background. It's on the endangered species list, tell all your friends and family to come!! Books are very affordable as well.
Great place. Loaded with good quality books. Been here a few times. The store owner is AMAZING. If you don't find what you are looking for let him know he will keep an eye out. Service is excellent and inventory is adequate.
This is a bookstore for treasure hunting in old and sometimes rare books. Small and hard to get to but worth the trip for finding a true jewel. Friendly and helpful staff. You need to take your time here. Don't be in a rush.
An amazing little bookstore that fuels your curiosity. As the owner says, “bookstores are a dying breed”. If you have a moment, stop in and let your mind wander in the endless books, limited editions, and anomalies.
An excellent bookstore to find new and interesting books. I found new books from authors I love and other books I'd only heard of. The owner curates and cares very much. Would recommend! Go spend some money there!
Outstanding! I stepped inside and found a six volume set I had to have. Owner was great and very helpful. I've already told friends and family that this is THE must go to Houston independent bookseller.
What a treasure this bookstore is! So many books on so many subjects, out of print and vintage copies. Knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly staff. We'll definitely be returning to explore more.
Bookstores are an endangered species and I was happy to support this great one. Owner, Larry, is a hoot to talk with! Found an interesting Frank Lloyd Wright architecture book that I ended up buying.
great little shop! owner is super friendly. the whole store has a lot of character. great place to wander into and find some strange books. really good prices. would definitely recommend stopping by.

A beautiful gem. This book store is organized and contains quality literature. The prices are great and the gentleman at the entrance is very kind and helpful; I will definitely be returning.
Found two great books I'd not find elsewhere. Great selection and a fun place to browse. Check here for hard-to-find books. You'll also enjoy the knowledgable and fun owner. Don't miss it!
Boy, drove an hour into Houston and would’ve loved to go into this place but the door was still locked during business hours! Someone said that’s been happening a lot, lately..
Absolute treasure trove of carefully curated books at great prices! Owner is helpful, witty, engaging and fun. It was a pleasure shopping here and will definitely return soon.
Lovely book store with large variety. We found both new and old books. Beautiful first editions. Store clerk was also very friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience!
The owner is a very interesting man. Only a pleb that shops at Walmart and belongs at Barnes and Noble would rate this mecca anything less than five stars. Godspeed…
The owners are very involved and knowledgeable. They were incredibly helpful when I asked for the books I was looking for! The place is a treasure for bibliophiles!
Fantastic book store! Really need an afternoon to browse thoroughly (or a day)! So many wonderful treasures! Staff is kind and helpful, very knowledgeable!
Gem of a bookshop! Great prices, rare finds and friendly shopkeeper. Found some hard to find stuff for good prices and they have a big range of genres!
Absolutely enjoyed this book store! Very comfy and filled with hidden gems! Definitely recommend for book lovers and those looking for a unique read.
What an absolute gem. Probably the best curated independent bookstore I've ever been in. Worth the trip to Houston, alone. Bravo, and thank you, sir!
Nice eclectic selection. Not much choice if your looking for specific books but very well done. Found some hard backs for cheap and left happy.
Come enjoy this place . Books are at a good price and have some gems! Let’s get this place back at a 100% please support the business .
We had a very positive and welcoming experience in this establishment. I wish more people could visit this wonderful world of books! :)
Loved the ambiance!! Real class and the owner was really nice . We found just what we were looking for regarding books about antiques.
There is something wrong with this place. I was told not to take pictures, yet I found numerous pictures of it on Google Maps.
Heart warming gem. It feels the way a book store should feel. Every book is a win & I highly recommend visiting at least once!
Love this place. Always appreciate the help from the owner when looking for niche topics. Could spend hours here!
This place is a book lovers dream. Such a selection for older, hard to find books. Definitely recommend ❤️
