I have no idea what has happened to Ramkiki (I've been going there for years) I've always had a pleasant experience, but today was a SHOCKER, sadly i dont think I'll ever be back!!! My son has been begging me the WHOLE week to go to Ramkiki so that he can swim (they have a lovely pool area) so I called Ramkiki to ask if there pool area was open, the lady said yes and proceeded to tell me that she will book a table for me so that when I arrive she would send a waiter up- the pool area is separate from the main restaurant' but it is still a sit down eating area associated with the restaurant. Well I arrived to a s!*t show, the floors were SO dirty, litter EVERWHERE, the tables were SO dirty, the toilets were ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING- stinky, dirty and broken toilet seats!!! I waited for the waitress for a while, so I decided to walk to the main restaurant to find someone, I met a lovely lady on the way there that came up to take our orders, however I asked her if someone could clean up a little but that never happened The food took a long time, but it was appetizing- I was SUPER hungry by the time the food came I gave service 3 stars because the waitress was really friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there is no one over seeing/maning the pool area, so ANYONE can just walk in and use the facilities, some patrons brought their own drinks and food- i was shocked!!! I strongly feel like if you not supporting the restaurant you should not be allowed to utilize the facilities whatsoever!!! So sad to see such a STUNNING facility going to the pipe hole!!!

We recently made a reservation to enjoy a Mother's Day lunch at Ramkiki. The booking was made and confirmed with a 50% deposit paid up front. On arrival, the booking manager could not find our booking - this was the start of a terrible lunch experience. We were then directed to the deck which would have been lovely if the weather was not too windy. We were finally accommodated to be seated on the inside. The Mother's Day Luncheon Flyer indicated that it's a 3 course set luncheon, when I enquired what was on the menu I was told "it's a surprise, we not providing that information" The starters consisted of Cold Meat, Livers and stale bread. There was one butter knife with one block of butter to serve everyone (disaster) - never mind you there was only one serving area on the inside for all of the people seated on the inside (not enough as the queue was never-ending with many people not even getting to eat starters) When it was time for the Mains, there were no plates, the dishes were not being refilled and the food was not appetizing at all. Dessert wasn't any good either, Malva Pudding, melted vanilla ice-cream, carrot cake and chocolate cake - also not enough and the setup of this was terrible. Needless to say this Mother's Day Lunch was such a disappointment. Ramkiki - you need to certainly take a page from Glenburn Lodges book so you can learn on how to cater for and accommodate guests. The food was poor, service worse.

Terrible! We booked a table foe mothers day. On arrival no one directed us to our "reserved" table. We then took one and sat down. 30min before we got any attention from staff. Ordered drinks and waited and waited. Incomplete drinks order arrived. Meanwhile children were playing in playarea. I went to check and was absolutely DISGUSTED AT THE FILTHY STATE OF THE PLAYGROUND. Cooldrink can bottom lying in grass. The cushions around the trampoline and other play equipment covered in bird poo. Obviously some old and some fresh. When last was this cleaned? A long time ago. This could be detrimental to kids health. Then we found out the buffet was finished but on booking told buffet was available until 4pm. Then seeing the price of the buffet - absolutely overboard. Still no waiter came to help us order. Left sitting sort of abandoned. We decided to leave. In reception other people were complaining as well. In the car park people leaving also said that ther service was terrible and they would not come back. My family of 10 wont go back there. We went down the roadbto Jesses and evenbthough it was now 1510 and close at 1600 we got prompt friendly service. Thats our new place to go. Bye Bye Ramatiki you gone tiki.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful!!! We went mid winter so the natural elements so look a bit bleak bit its clear to see how absolutely magically beautiful it must be during the spring and sommer months, so the slight lack of greenery really did not take away from the beauty of the view. Another thing about the view, you are really close to the main road when seated outside yet you hardly hear or see any cars, making the atmosphere really feel like you've dropped out of the city which is wonderful! Our server was Victor and I can not praise him enough for the impeccable service he gave us, not only did he know the menu by heart but he could read us perfectly for recommendations and anticipated our needs amazingly!! He was possibly the biggest part of our amazing experience with what started as a pretty horrible day he just made end so so well! This man needs a promotion! He is honestly the BEST server I have had in my entire life, If i was still in the hospitality industry it would be an absolute pleasure working with him! On a more business side, the prices are very well set for what you get, and the food is honestly amazing! The venue is clean and neat and I would say is perfect for gathering with friends, going for a drink at the bar or a romantic night out! Really really wonderful on all fronts!

Unfortunately, everything was done incorrectly for a 25-person brunch that I organized as a celebration of friends having a baby. I called to make a reservation, which was confirmed TWICE with the details before the event. I specifically asked for the restaurant - we were put in a sterile/cold-feeling conference hall. I specifically asked for and confirmed that there would be a buffet - there was no buffet. The food was uninspired and not very good, with only 5 menu options for breakfast. We had one server - for 25 people! - and had to complain to management to get more. Everyone's food came out at different times, and no one really enjoyed the food. After hearing about two separate negative experiences from people in our group, we were assured that things were different now with new management, and we really hoped for the best, but I can say with 100% certainty that we won't be back. The manager on duty seemed surprised and confused that we were upset. She also didn't apologize for the business being wrong; she only apologized that we were upset, which is not the same as taking responsibility. Without Victor, we would have likely all walked out. He is an asset to your business, and whatever you're paying him, I'm sure its not enough.

We celebrated my husband's 50 birthday party there and I was so disgusted with the so-called "events manager", Tatum. On the day of the party, she did not have the venue ready like she said, when she phoned my husband the previous evening - all lies!!! Our DJ and decor lady arrived early in the morning to set up but nothing was ready! Tatum did not answer our calls and eventually my niece went there and needless to say, it was not a pleasant conversation that transpired with this unprofessional and incompetent woman. Eventually we got hold of the owner and got rid of Tatum for the rest of the event, Deneo took over and things went smoothly after that. Thanks so much dear Deneo, we don't know what would have happened if you were not there. God bless you! Unfortunately everything from welcome drinks, speeches and the food was obviously served much later than planned, all due to Tatum's unprofessional work ethic and utter incompetence. What was the most disturbing and disgusting, was that she looked as if she hadn't even slept the night before and she reeked of alcohol, and she still acted as if we were in the wrong! The venue is very beautiful but I strongly recommend you go elsewhere for your special occasions.

Pathetic service received today. Went for a family outing to this beautiful venue but the restaurant and its patrons highly disappointed. Ordered drinks, received 40 minutes later. We then hesitated should we order food after the delay we received with the drinks. I asked our waiter how long are we going to wait for our food to which her reply was "not long mam".... We ordered 2 mains and 2 kids meals. 1 hour 20 minutes later one of the mains eventually made its way to our table. Still no cutlery. 5 minutes later the kids meals came. Another 5 minutes later our waiter came and said the other main we ordered is not available! How is this acceptable? We asked for the bill and was ready to leave when it did not arrive yet 20 minutes later. At payment we made it clear that the service we received was not what was expected and we asked for the manager - we did not even get a reply while she was waiting for the transaction on the card machine! We unfortunately only now read all the pathetic reviews of this restaurant and this has been going on for months. Ramkiki, it is time to shape up or to close your doors!

Went there on Sunday for a family lunch, firstly they didn't have our booking on the system and the excuse was the person who took the booking had resigned . The service from the waiters was non existent, noone checking the table . When you order something, it either never comes or takes forever to come. The waiters are not visible at all, it's almost as though we got them at knock off time and this was at around 2pm on Sunday afternoon. Then there were flies, green ones and waitress wasn't bothered, they didn't even bother to come clear the table and the flies just kept flourishing. Their daiquiri tastes like cool aid. We really had a bad experience. The place is beautiful for a Sunday afternoon but with the kind of service they offer it can really spoil what is meant to be a good celebration. The couple was considering the venue for their wedding but after this experience the venue is a no no. If they can't look after a table of 18 then how much more 100+ people . I was really disappointed and turned off.

Mothers day lunch yesterday 14/5/2023 was a huge disappointment. Lack of variety of dishes and not enough food - the chicken livers were done and the bain maries weren't refilled, the amount of food catered was not enough for the amount of people who opted for the buffet lunch, and no we did not arrive late our group was at the restaurant promptly at 12pm. Food was tasteless and at the dessert station the fruit salad looking at it was unappetizing with the apples already turning brown. The malva pudding some warm custard would've complimented this better since seen it was a bit of a cold day instead of just ice cream. No dessert spoons available and it was a clear indication that there was a shortage of waiters to attend to tables for drink orders. In the reception area patrons who had reserved tables were being turned away with one woman vehemently asking if Ramkiki is running a mickey mouse operation. I'm not a happy patron and unfortunately my family and I will have to think twice before visiting Ramkiki again. I'll even go as far as saying that I think Spur would've provided better food

Went for a quick tour yesterday. This is a good place indeed. Brings some modernized vintage vibes. The mood is relaxing. The atmosphere is perfect for a day or two out. I'm definitely coming back for a stay. Update 6 months later: Tea and coffee are served for free. No welcoming drink as promised (or maybe it's the coffee or tea). The pool was only getting cleaned when we arrived. Food is just fine not satisfactory. Morning breakfast is buffet, which was promised till 11 but that did not happen . On the other hand. It was truly fun to spend my night with friends here. Had so much fun and created some memories :⁠-⁠D

I had made a booking & when I arrived I was told that my booking was taken over by someone else. We were not late. The server was confused and apologized and directed us to another seating. We were not happy with the seating that was assigned to us, and the server was very apologetic. The reason that I am giving you only 1 star for the service is because the fact that the table that I booked for was somehow given to other people. And the reason that I am giving you a 1 star for atmosphere is that the view was bad, what with the broken bridge, broken trees etc, not a pretty sight at all. We were quite shocked on how the place looked. Not what we expected. The food was excellent though and the server(waitress) was very kind, helpful and did her best to accomodate us. But unfortunately we will not be returning.

FOOD POISONING! Attended my wife's year end function 3rd December. Table of about 14 people. Clearly way too many bookings accepted which they were unable to handle. Horrible, slow service. The table was not cleared of any empty glasses. Everybody asked for condiments a minimum of 4 times, still waiting. I ordered chicken wings, chips and vegetables. Most people at the table received food after an astonishing 1h40mins!!! Yet my dish wasn't ready, along with 2 pasta dishes. Spent Saturday night , felt like a zombie entire Sunday, those wings that eventually came about 20mins later had something seriously wrong with them (I usually have a cement mixer stomach) Still waiting for my vegetables. Called twice on Sunday to inform the manager about their kitchen issues, still waiting for a call back.

Attended a kiddies birthday party. The service was slow , alcoholic drinks were serviced timeously, but the non- alcoholic drinks took a while to come out..I'm not sure if this is due to the kitchen being so far off from the kids play area/party hut or possibly the 2 waiters attending to approx 25 adults and 10 kids. The toilet facilities are way to far from the party venue, not safe for little ones who go on their own, possibly look into getting facilities for the kids closer to the play area. Pizza was okay, filled hungry tummies at the time so cannot fault on taste.

We went here for breakfast to celebrate a birthday. Waiters are clearly buffet & large event staff and has no clue how to take orders. Coffees were cold. Half the food on each plate was cold. No scones. No condiments served with muffins (plastic tubs of butter is not the same as cream and cheese). Only muffin flavour available was "brown". No cream available for cappuccino's. Ordered 3 omelettes with 3 different sets of toppings, and every omelette had at least 2 extra toppings someone else ordered. One had its toppings on the side because they forgot to put it on. No pork sausage, which they informed us about after serving some food. On the bright side, the food was quite delicious, even if it wasn't what was ordered, and the venue is absolutely beautiful

It was our worst experience ever. Ramkiki used to be nice and relaxed place for kids to play. Food was terrible, didnt had food that was on menu, didnt had castle light, just excuses with everything we ordered. Then the load music with a private party just spoiled the event for a relaxed time while kids play. Was so loud that we were unBle to hear each other talking. When asked management to ask the party people to turn music down it was a mission for them to get up and do something about it. Why not warm people when entering that there is a private party or book the venue out totally then we can rather just leave. Terrible and the standard definitely not as before. Will NEVER go bavk to Ramkiki.

The pool deck used to such a classy and chilled Sunday afternoon spot but today was terrible. It's becoming too ghetto with house music playing super loud the whole day and people jumping from the fountain . I've never seen such. Maybe it's a norm but it looks very dangerous. One understands that type of vibe with the music on a Saturday but it wasn't enjoyable at all. I noticed most people didn't stay long today, it really looked like a public pool and not the lovely chilled joint ot used to be. We ordered pasta and that was very bland.

Their service is the worst I have ever seen. We have been there for the second time one year apart and then it was better than now. They get your orders wrong, put items on the bill you have not ordered, have 2 waiters that served a huge group of people at the pool area with the restaurant 50km away. The food arrives late, is cold and then when you want to pay you look like a high school child trying to get the teacher's attention while holding the POS machine in the air dancing around. Terrible terrible terrible. If it happened once, yeah maybe. But twice? I will not ever recommend even my worst enemies to go there.

Made to feel welcome right from the lobby. Great food and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Victor was amazing!!! On recent visits we enjoyed playing pool and enjoyed a great meal. We will be back and are spreading the news that on a Tuesdays everything on the menu is half price for pensioners. What a wonderful deal. Thank you Ramkiki management and staff for a most enjoyable experience.

I have to say I’m extremely disappointed that this venue was so extremely disorganised, like holding 2 events on the same property with a lack of parking for all the cars. I was a Vender this weekend and I’d never suggest this market to anybody as they were quick to take our money and we all took a huge loss. We are entrepreneurs and we are busy so why should we take up a whole day to sell absolutely nothing. All the venders were upset because we all worked exceptionally hard to be there so this is a first and a last!!!!!! This concludes what I have to say!

Started with our booking not being registered although booked and paid for early March. Room very cold and sparse.Bed extremely uncomfortable. Pillows really thick and hard. I could go on but the worst was the noise!! Noise all night long. They had a 21st party which the party goer's took back to their room and kept us all awake the WHOLE night. The hotel did nothing about it, absolutely nothing. Am disappointed with the hotel's response, well the fact they did nothing even though it was reported to them. I am tired and the breakfast wasn't that good so hasn't even cheered us up!!!

Place is lovely and great for kids. The food was good and well portioned. Beautiful views and tranquil, the service at the restaurant is really poor. Our waitress really tried her best to keep it moving but if the kitchen is slow it will be a mess in the front. I hope the owner can put measures in place to improve.

The place is beautiful.My kids enjoyed the play area. I gave it 3 star because the guard on duty at the gate was very rude.He wouldnt let my hubby come in after he took our drinks back home(we didnt know that beer was not allowed).He insisted we had hidden the beer.It was too much drama. The waiter was lovely but she has no idea how to treat guests,l think she is new.She did not know her menu and the food came very late, orders mixed up.She needs more training. Nway the food was amazing..So a few changes and this place will be a five star place

A truly beautiful place and atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. However, the place could go with a good clean up. I understand that they were recovering from the effects of the floods, but they should ensure that the place is at least dusted and cleaned for customers. The children's play area was an absolute mess. No attempt at cleaning it at all. The live music was a wonderful bonus to our visit. So just a bit of effort on the cleanliness will be appreciated

This place is very tranquil, I enjoyed my Sunday buffet outdoor lunch experience. I enjoyed the cuisine and the staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We were a big group of 20 guests, the kids were a bit disappointed that their playing area was ruined by the storm. I hope they will fix what was caused by the storm ( broken bridge & kids playing area) as soon as possible because I would be willing to return for another Sunday lunch because the price for the buffet is reasonable.

We went for a mid day meal, I have been going every now and again for 20 years and always had a good meal. The food was very poor and my partners food was cold. It looked like yesterdays food reheated, we did comment to the waitress but was told it was fresh, there was no follow up by the management who never even look up as we left. All in all a very disappointing experience but then maybe they were busy as we were the only customers when we left at 2.30 PM, we will not be going back

Beautiful Place. Customer Service is Terrific. Staff are super friendly. Will definitely use Ramkiki again. Clean decent accomodation and facilities. Again hats off to the staff who try hard to assist in anyway possible. Much appreciated.

A very beautiful place within Jhb to reset. I was very disappointed with their staff namely Dineo and Kudzi very unprofessionally, incompetent, zero customers service and no client privacy. I stayed for two days but the experience was just horrific and l remember at some point wanting to check out. The food was okay but just l wouldn't recommend their Lamb curry very watery-like am not sure if it was reheated and served from previous day

Avoid this place food was horrible, steak was hard and dense (was promised venison got beef), prawns overcooked and rubbery, the waffles should have saved the day but it was store bought, cold and dry with a sad scoop of ice cream and meager blueberry jam. Staff are slow, disinterested and not friendly. This was a company YE function… wasted our money

We booked there for 7pm to 10pm for a kids bd, I feel they could have better prepared themselves, most things were not available on the food and drinks. The kids disliked the food, they didn’t even want to take goodie bags, I think it’s not the taste but the patties were huge. They could have done better by being better prepared for our crowd. We were almost 20. From the little time I spent there I don’t feel like going back.

My family and I have been going to Ramkiki for years now. Recently it has hasn't been the same. However, today will BE the ultimate last TIME I'll put my foot there. The "manager" Valerie is PETHETIC, RUDE and THICK. Besides that they gave my husband a FILTHY glass. HORRIFIC. WE have no idea what toxins he put in his body. It's a shame. Such a beautiful place is no more.

The Lodge has a great scenery with perfect atmosphere surrounded by greenery, beautiful lake, swimming pool,etc. Although the disadvantage is that the Brunch is not a buffet and have to pay for extras when you need them. What a beautiful venue. Big trees to sit under, cozy farm house restaurant. There are many areas where different events can take place at the same time. There is a closed off swimming pool area, for parties, an area for watching sport, with a bar. There is a smaller hall type thing for smaller events. You have to go see for yourself.

wifi doesn't reach rooms. The TV was not working, there were no towels in my room, the shower handle was broken. the staff kept trying to open my door with me still in my room, I felt unsafe, the staff reported to receptionist that they found no towels in my room insinuating theft. the waiter made me wait 20 minutes to serve breakfast whilst she was chatting away and cleaning tables.

I happened to go to two wedding celebrations here, a decade or so apart. The first time we had a fantastic party and all the staff were wonderfully helpful. Recently the party was just as good and the staff were perhaps even more helpful. We were able to stay over rather than trek back that night and the next morning's breakfast buffet settled the sore head and grumbling stomach.

A very beautiful hidden gem in rooderpoort. Beautiful set up, from pool bar, main bar and main restaurant. The food was to die for, the service from our waiter Ian was out of this world. I would highly recommend it. I would definitely come back. Oh again the pool bar is perfect for small parties, or just bring kids for a swim‍♂️ . Beautiful place for a picnic also

Was the most horrible experience . Ive had better at KFC down the road . Took 30 mins to get drink , ran out of food ( buffet ), had very little dishing up spoons , table had no cutlery . Asked waiter for help but they were too busy . Don’t come here on mother day if u want to leave smiling

Came for a family lunch. Every ones did arrived. Except mine. Everyone's had finished and my 500g ribs arrived. Very tasty. But the ribs had large bones and very little meat. Not worth it. They do have chili sauce called red neck chili sauce. Absolutely superb with the chicken strips. My wife's pizza arrived cold. The waiter was apologetic. But it wasn't his fault.

Beautiful setting and the food was great. Good pricing as well. Eventhough there was a team building event with lots of people, it did not deter the tranquility and atmosphere as you did not hear them. Will definitely go back again

We went for a Saturday market , it was a lovely day out . It was packed we struggled a bit with the parking space as we arrived late but we got some nice goodies from the market. We got candles, nuts, Durban curry and samoosas, crochet clothing , whiskey and many more goodies . If you're looking for a market on a Saturday morning Ramkiki is a place to be

We waited by the door for 15 minutes to be seated, no one came so we went to the play ground, asked 3 or 4 waiters for a table and got nothing. asked a few more times if we can order something. no one was interested to serve us. after an hour we collected the kids and left without ordering a single cold drink

Had a farewell for our Boss, loved the set up, atmosphere, lovely gardens for taking memorable photos. The food was tasty service was great. I will definitely be visiting soon.

The pizza and coffee milkshake was excellent but the service was terrible. Some of our drinks got forgotten. We waited so long for the sauces that we finished our food before they came. Probably won't go back.

We were there for a 50th birthday party. Beautiful function venue, this! With good service. Plenty parking for guests. The place even has some nice overnight rooms for those who may want to spend the night

Nice pool side setting. Bar was poorly stocked and Barmen often made mistakes with Bill's. Food was average. Disappointing was how many flies were seen on food. Chef /Staff seem unperturbed. Pretty river flows through venue, pity about the smell.

Absolutely Pathetic. After having a wisdom removal, I politely requested the Chef make me a breakfast even though I understand it's out of perimeter. The least he could have done was come and offer some options but clearly customer service doesn't exist. He blatantly said NO.

The place seems run down. Menus are falling apart. There has been some storm damage in the river, so the place looks sad. My beer was sour and overpriced. It is under new management and that is quite obvious. Won't go back in a hurry.

No just no, service was terrible, place is dirty, over an hour and shocking service, will never go back. Tried to dine in, gave us 1 menu for 10 people. In spite of booking had to try find us a table. Just a terrible experience. Not the mother's day we wanted.

Great location. Perfect for events such as weddings. They would get the full complement of stars in their rating but the management tends to renege on their promise once events are confirmed and paid for. Make sure to have everything in writing to be sure.

This place is awesome especially the deck area with a beautiful forest view,the food was great so was Martin our waiter with outstanding service well done Martin and compliments to the Kitchen who prepared our food,I will bring my kids next time I visit.

Beauty and beauty and beauty. Great views and the country thatch roof compliments this place. The food is great, I had the best eisbein. They also serve Sunday lunch. I definitely recommend this place for its food and views. Such a relaxing place.

What a beautiful venue. Absolutely stunning. The waiters are very helpful and consistent and this venue is just really really beautiful. We didn't explore around it that much but we had a family event and it went well. Would definitely recommend.

We hosted my sister's babyshower here and everything was stellar. The kids loved their play area. I would definitely recommend, if you love pictures this place will give u good backgrounds

A serene nearby escape from the noise of the city. Great location, beautiful landscaping that does not interfere with the natural setting of the place. A stream runs through it! Delectable food, and buffet Sundays. Friendly staff.

Beautiful, serene restaurant. The children love the huge outdoor play area ( sheltered) and riding track. Has a kids menu. Food was delicious. Friendly staff. An Indian restaurant is opening soon. Great wedding and party venue.

Such a lovely place for kids and a drink but that's where it ends. Food is NOT WORTH the BIG price tag and quality is severely lacking. This place would be so amazing if the food matched the price.

Great place to have a beer and quick bite. The pizzas are well worth the price and so are the steaks. Lovely setting watching the river if you feel like drinks or grab a table for a meal.
