"I visit Dallas every summer"
"My wife and I stopped for dinner before heading to a concert at the American Airlines Center"
"Terrible people here"
Eat. Here. Now. Backstory (short version)... 1) staying in downtown with wife and teenage daughters, 2) long day, grumpy ladies, 3) late evening "where to go" dilemma, 4) exhaustive search to find "best Italian place" closest to hotel, 5) stumble onto Ravenna. And then... 1) we're greeted by Steven (our warm, kind, funny & attentive server), 2) we are treated to one of the best dining experiences our family has had (ever had). Factoids... 1) Steven is perhaps a hidden jewel in the downtown Dallas fine-dining scene, his service being 5-star-plus-plus, 2) menu is robust and *genuine* (aka, your "Italian great-grandfather's" recipes, NOT "elitist-culinary-schooled-executive-chef's every-bizarre-ingredient" type recipes), 3) each and every tiny request (remember, "grumpy ladies") was met with expeditious perfection, 4) each dish served was hot, rich, and plentiful, and 5) we delighted in the cozy, nostalgic environment around us... as the day's woes melted away. Last thoughts... 1) when was the last time, after a meal you heard two teenage girls beg, "Dad, when we come back to Dallas, you'll bring us here again, right?!?" and 2) have "The Godfather" (adult beverage)... it's the epitome of a dining experience at Ravenna... and as I sipped it, watching all-the-above unfold, I thought, < cliche alert >... "it doesn't get any better than this." It really doesn't... so, one last time... Eat. Here. Now. << thank you Steven, you are a master of your craft, keep delighting those you serve -- it matters; this world needs more hospitality... and you, sir, are a great provider of the *selfless-care-of-others* that's missing in much of life >>

Ravenna is a city in Italy known for the colorful mosaics adorning many of its central buildings. Or, it's a large kingdom in n. Italy that dominates the Ravenna region. Either way, it's thoroughly Italian, like the food at the Ravenna Urban Italian Bar & Grill... and Restaurant. I was seated and served by a no-nonsense efficient and attentive waiter in his 40s (?) who knows exactly how a restaurant is supposed to work. The menu made me drool. I wanted one of everything. But, i selected fettucine Alfredo (~$20) with sausage added (for $5 extra). They didn't have chenin blanc, so i paired it with pinot grigio. I worried that the pinot grigio would be too sweet, but i discovered a delightful effect... after eating a little Alfredo sauce, the wine tasted much drier! He brought me a small loaf of bread with a saucer of mystery juice, which turned out to be balsamic vinegar. I dipped the bread... a nice piquant surprise. (I may copy it at home.) The bar was huge and looked well-stocked. And, you can order a pizza there if you want! Bottom line: Ravenna is a classy Italian restaurant experience with tasty food and pro service. And, its right in the middle of downtown Dallas. There's also a nice al fresco dining area.
I visit Dallas every summer. Last year & this year we had the same waiter. He made us so excited to come back so we are making it a tradition! Last year he treated us like queens and he even remembered us this year. I’m pregnant so I couldn’t drink wine (I love your selection!) but Steven (the waiter) brought me out a mocktail so I could fit in with my girls. He also asked when I was due & surprised me with a tiramisu cake with the MOST beautiful chocolate artwork! He took the time to see how far along I was & make me feel so special. I just wanted to let his manager/owner know that he is THE heart & exhibit of why we love Ravenna & will keep coming back — oh and the food is SO DELICIOUS too! Steven I hope you see this! You have a heart like no other & can make EVERY single person you see feel welcomed and known. I hope we get you as our waiter next year! Love, the Nebraska girl!

My wife and I stopped for dinner before heading to a concert at the American Airlines Center. We were met at the door by the greeter and he led us to a nice quiet table. The waiter was prompt in stopping at our table and starting our order. The drinks were brought first and then the meal order was taken. I ordered the beef lasagna and when it arrived at the table, the presentation was nice. Once digging on, I must say that it was one of the best restaurant lasagnas I've had in many years. My wife had a pasta plate (I don't recall which one}, but it was also presented nicely and a large portion. My wife enjoyed it a lot but couldn't finish the large serving, so I was lucky enough to be able to taste it. Her meal was very good too, so thankfully nothing was left behind. If you're in the downtown area and are interested in Italian cuisine, I highly recommend you consider Ravenna's Italian Grille and Bar.

Terrible people here. A friend & I stopped in to wait on our car due to the weather, and these sick individuals attempted to kick us out. We are not even from the city but are visiting and did a bit of shopping in the area and they escorted us out like common criminals once they realized we were not there to dine in. It was extremely unprofessional and a clear classist power grab from both the hostess and supposed server posing as the manager who judged us in their desperation for covering overhead or whatever costs from running this sham of a true fine dining establishment . In my time waiting there I was already disgusted by the rancid urine smell upon approaching this place but to see the staff be just as low down & dirty as the location, I can see why we weren’t accepted here. Save your luxury experience for another place. The neighboring restaurant Monarch was completely more accommodating.
Horrible rude hostess, while waiting to be seated for 10 min and the hostess never waited on us, I ran to the restroom where I was confronted by the “male hostess” in the middle of the restaurant asking me what I was doing with an attitude I explained I was going to the restroom and he finally let me go as I walked away I let him know it was my first time there, I guess he didn’t understand English well and then he chased me all the way to the restroom all BOWED UP LIKE HE WANTED TO FIGHT asking me what did you say, what did you say, after I repeated myself to him he then stated that he didn’t have time to check out my shoes to make sure I wasn’t homeless. What a great experience on my first visit, needless to say we left abruptly.
We visited the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon when there were very few diners - literally only one other couple in the restaurant. The ambiance was very relaxing, almost intimate really. The food was phenomenal - I had the 5-layer lasagna and my husband had the fettuccine Alfredo w/ chicken! Delicioso!!! But our waiter was the real standout - Steven looked the part of a proper gentleman and his attentiveness and service were stellar. He made sure our glasses were always filled, he was professional and friendly at the same time w/o being over-the-top or annoying - he had the perfect amount of conversation. I will come back here a thousand times.
This is one of those places that is exceptional, because sometimes places with an outstanding location do not have to offer a great food menu (I won't name names of those other places), yet here the house salad was really delicious, served with the best bread and I ordered a Pellegrino sparkling water on the side. If I ever have a big business meeting in downtown (I wish I were a big banker, right?) or have family and friends visit me, I hope the meal will be right here.

House Salad
WoW! What can I say. While visiting downtown Dallas for work, one of the individuals recommended we go here for lunch and let me tell you, it was an absolute TREAT! Friendly staff, great service and unbelievable food is the true recipe for success. I had the Chicken Paparazzi and I did not regret eating nearly all of it. Even though I knew that I had to "work" after the meal, it was just so good that I could only stop when there was no more space. I also had the house salad and that was also fantastic. Make a trip downtown to give it a try, you can thank me later, your pallette will thank you.
Was dying to go here since it is a nice restaurant. Was disappointed in the zuppa di mari dish was advertised as 16.95 on the menu but I was charged 18.95. The dish was less than desirable. It had big chunks of fish and at first i was tripping because the dish is suppose to come with shrimp but i am mixing my food and i thought maybe it only comes with mussels, fish, scallops and calamari I get to one side and there is A shrimp yes one shrimp in my dish. I wont ever go there again if they remove this rating I will repost I have pics of the receipt and the lonesome shrimp
The hospitality and service of this place is impeccable! We met the owner and he’s super nice and cool. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and H O L Y S M O K E S it was a flavor explosion in my mouth. Fresh made sauce every day don’t get me started on the espresso martinis!! Literally the best I ever had! Josh got the special which was a bone in pork chop cover in a delicious sauce served over mashed potatoes. We weren’t gonna get Togo boxes but we are for sure now! Sooooooo good. Definitely a must try if y’all are ever downtown
My girlfriend and I went to grab some Italian food here. We thought it would be a good experience but it was anything but. We had a cockroach crawl out from under one of our plates. We tried to be discrete and respect the restaurant. The matter was never addressed, not even a manager apologized. We thought we’d receive some sort of compensation for the incident. However we paid full price for the meal. For a place with such a high reviews and “high dining” it wasn’t even close.

Had a amazing dinner with decent staff, the food was nice & the wine selection is very diverse. The salmon portavino was delicious & a decent size for 30 ish dollar. The salad option to add salmon along the meatballs that come with was amazingly price decently. Would highly recommend coming here for a nice date night

About as far away from quality Italian food as possible. Service was excellent for our large party but the food really missed the mark. I had the Tortellini Carbonara and it was more like an alfredo sauce. The amount of prosciutto in the dish could only be described as a pinch and near impossible to fine in the dish. The pasta was most likely pre-packaged and reheated. For $24 it was a total flop.

4.5 stars: Tuesday night was a great night to stop by Ravenna for dinner. The crowd was small and service was prompt. We enjoyed a glass of wine with our meal, riesling and Pinot noir. He had pasta filled with hard and soft shell sea food. I had the egg plant Rollitini. Both were enjoyable. No espresso only coffee for after dinner. Desert was ok, the chocolate mouse cake could sit a while to come to room temperature to be more enjoyable. Overall it was still a great night out.
Went here last night. The food was phenomenal. We had the Lasagna and the Chicken Parm. Those were some of the absolute best representations of those dishes we've ever had. The drinks were wonderful, and the bartender was very knowledgeable. Our ONLY complaint is that they closed too early (11pm) for a Saturday night.

I was an out of state traveller, it had gone 9pm, I needed to eat, in my shorts and wife beater top I happen upon this venue with thier staff all in waist coats looking very formal. It was a slow evening for the restaurant and when I explained it was just me they suggested I might like a seat at the bat. Perfect. The wait staff were attentive but not bothersome. I appreciated thier level of service despite my casual attire. I wish I could afford to eat there again tonight.
I really dont be doing a lot of reviews but I have to say, this chicken parm is ELITE!!!! Our server (dont remember his name) was very polite, attentive and although my girlfriend and I went in pretty late, made us feel welcomed. Props to the team and the chef's. Thank you for an awesome experience.

This was our first time dining here and we loved it! Robert took excellent care of us and made wonderful menu suggestions. The filet is one of the best I’ve ever had. So tender and perfectly cooked. The chicken parm was also great. We had the limoncello cake and tiramisu for dessert. AMAZING! So light and refreshing, not too sweet. The cocktails were super yummy too. We will definitely be back!

Steve our waiter was absolutely amazing!!! The restaurant was busy with robotics people and he still gave us excellent service. He made the littles in our group feel so special by putting their names on the glasses and to go bag. He never let our glasses get lower than half full! We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and my son said it was the best chicken parmigiana he has had in a long time!! Thanks for the great meal and exceptional service!!
I ordered from Door Dash and the pasta was VERY DRY and flavorless. I ordered the chicken pesto linguini and a salad. It would have been nice to have given some extra pesto sauce on the side considering how terribly dry it was. I had to choke down what I could. I ordered a Ceasar salad and it came without ANY dressing…?! Why yes, I would love a DRY SALAD! Says no one ever! I’m very disappointed with the entire order and will not order again.
Good place just overpriced. I ordered the Pesto linguine, and it didn't come with a salad. You would think if they charge over 20.00 an entree, it would come with a salad. And I honestly didn't feel the restaurant was upscale enough to be at that price point.

Very good, classy, but pricy. We had the lasagna and the lobster ravioli both were excellent! We had drinks which were made to perfection. The bread was soft and used to soak up every bit of the pink sauce I had in the ravioli. We decided to get dessert since they had my husband’s favorite tiramisu. The kids wanted the chocolate moose cake, and I got the freshly stuffed cannoli. I have to say it was worth every penny.

It was both busier and smaller than I expected when I arrived for dinner. They're a bit understaffed which is a common problem currently so I will not say anything about the wait. The server did have a good knowledge of the menu and while I have had better bolognese, this one was not too bad.

I was in Texas, and I was craving some Italian food. I got luck I happened to drive by Ravenna. The atmosphere, staff, and food are great! So there is good Italian food in Texas.
One of the most beautiful and long standing restaurants in downtown Dallas. The owner and the servers level of service is unmatched. We truly felt welcomed to dine in.
Great service and a great plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Takes plenty of passion to keep this dish consistent and full of flavor. Sauce was light and superb.
This place was empty and because we wanted pizza these guys turned us away. These people are very rude. I would recommend going somewhere else.

The food is amazing. The sausage is like no other. It taste more like chorizo but still feels like sausage. The Jalapeño TX Twinkies are very good as well.
Had the shrimp pesto linguini here. Very tasty, but it was just a little bit too heavy for my liking. The fried calamari (not shown) was super yummy!
Great service and excellent food! Don't forget a nice warm atmosphere

I always order this on Uber eats when I get an Italian craving. Went in and the staff was great! Always a good spot for classic Italian food.
The food was very good. Wait staff attentive. Nice location with windows on a corner, so you can watch the world go by. I highly recommend.
At the bar. Zander is very professional and great conversation.
