"In a word, the Grand Canyon of New York City"

In a word, the Grand Canyon of New York City. This sumptuous ledge perches on the edge of a purgatory of fall foliage, a veritable comme sonne comme sonne du san if one can catch it in the right moment. Locals will celebrate the changing modes of growth, from the tall to the short, and those unfamiliar with the flippant character of the city will never recover. The Ravine stands, as it were, on cusp of modernity and on the tail of Gothic amnesia. I saw several humans enjoying the sun in the hours I was out, exhibiting the following behaviors that seemed central to their interactions with the Ravine (in order): - looking up, often with a single hand shielding the top of the gaze as a salute to the powers that be. - looking down, without any modifications to the hands or other limbs. - looking side to side. - looking in various other directions. - peering at leafy things. - ignoring rocky things unless those rocky things were particularly large or pointy or arranged in a rare shape. - pointing at animals. - exclaiming at birds, especially those birds who were particularly precious with their time in the Ravine and moved quickly onto their next locations. - pointing at plants, especially those that the human purported to be able to name. Rampant among men wearing shorts and sunglasses, modal among these men who were in loveless relationships, moderate to rare among other demographics. - walking very fast so as to avoid interacting with the space at all, in some ritual which the author has concluded could only be a sign of perceived witchcraft. Without spoiling the rigor of the moment, I recommend heeding the words of a local chipmunk, as accounted here: What is a ravine if not a warning? To fly forward or to stand watching all The world wax and wane, that remains to see - Or perhaps only to witness the fall. If pride could come to claim its peace, only Three questions would remain: what we should do, Who we should be, and why it matters in Any case? So maybe it's cleaner to Hold onto dignity long as you can And find your footing wherever you stand.
If you are lucky enough to find yourself here, stop moving, sit down, relax, think about your life, enjoy the moment, the silence and the fact that you are actually in the middle of one of the biggest, nastiest cities on earth... everything you see around you was put there by a man to trick you into thinking you are in nature. Then start planning your next trip to the real countryside!
Very cool that Prospect Park has its own forest, the largest in Brooklyn. The waterfall is pretty though not enormous. The paths here are great for a meander on a nice day, particularly with the leaves changing. Bring a dog friendly for a romp in the nearby pond as well. Great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
Beautiful in Winter. Feel for a moment like your far from the city, getting lost in a forest. Maples, Mountain Laurels, Sycamores and many other species of plants to observe. The paved paths are easy to navigate with a stoller or wheelchair. For others there's paths through the woods and some steep stone steps.
I love PP. Being a Brooklynite when ever out of towners visit they want to visit CP in Manhattan. I take them to both, but it's the intimacy of Prospect Park they love. We are early morning trekkers so it's really nice. I love you PP you show a side of Brooklyn that is our true essence.
One and the only prospect park little forest. Great place to sit and enjoy the nature and have lunch, enjoy company with friends and family. The mini forest looks lovely and beautiful. Overall great place just to get away from all the noise.
This is an area in Prospect Park that connects the Long Meadow and the Nethermead. It's rustic and beautiful and provides a path that people with baby strollers, walkers or wheelchairs can use for a great Prospect Park walk.
Great trails for multiple routes during your run that will make it hard for you to not enjoy the options. From biking trails to hiking trails you get it all here and in the summer you can get your exercise on the canoes.
It is a great place for meditation with the waterfall. I recommend going in the morning when park opens at 6am. Later in the day people are site seeing or working out, and others are cruising for a date.
Middle of the park that is in the middle of Brooklyn. It's quiet and beautiful. Rick's Place is a great spot to aim for to get the best feel for the place. It is nice and hilly, too. Just shut up and go.
Amazing, the walkway themselves were like you weren't in a city anymore, and the cool part was there was a water fall not big but great to sit down rear the rocks.
Relaxing spot located in one of the deepest sections of Prospect Park, great if you need a slight break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Really beautiful area of brooklyn. The only issue is there are now these nasty black gates around all the pathways now.
one of the most beautiful, free natural amenities of the city. it feels like stepping out of the city and into an oasis
Really beautiful park open field and cool trails. Nice to place to meditate, read a book or just chill in nature.

Relaxing glen in the middle of the chaos of Brooklyn.... Never tire of watching the waterfall.
Just another spot in this beautiful park that helps you forget you're in the city for a while.
