I love the afterschool programs, and how the teachers stay afterschool to help you with homework or anything you didnt understand in class. I really think students who would like to become a teacher or not should enroll into this school. It's great. I am currently a student at Richard R. Green, and I disagree completely with the comment below. It's not true that the teacher only pay attention to the students with high grades just because they have much more hope for them. In my school they have hope for everyone in the school to graduate. There is a program in this school called AVID and this program takes in the students with middle GPA, because many teachers have realized that those students don't get much attention because they're in the middle. They think all the students with the really low average get the most help, but they knew that not only did they need help, but so did everyone else. Also, this school isn't encouraging kids to start using drugs, this school is trying to keep students away from it. So who ever commented below, get your facts straight because now the school looks so much better than it did before. I'm not trying to be rude either, it's just i love this school, and i know it's your opinion of the school, but i don't like having to read a bad review of the school, when its really great place. and to be honest, students dont usually like to hang around inside the school in the afternoon just because, but here if you stay after school, you'll see students just hanging out in the hallways talking having fun. It's just a really nice place to hang out as well so idk, i just think that your review just wasnt fair

This school is nothing like what you see when you first walk in . You would think because this school is located next door to Wall Street & across from The Staten Island ferry that this is a rather decent school, Sadly that is not the case . The low budget school of Richard R. Green is a very poorly ran unstable high school . There are occasional brawls every year in and outside of the school. There are no after school programs , limited senior benefits & poor teaching . The kids are handled by 1 dean the majority of the time , the dean ( Peter Tames ) is not a person you would like to be around your children or just in general. As for the other teachers they struggle to maintain . There is only 1 teacher available for every subject making it hard for students with issues within the classroom to have options . I do not recommend this high school to anyone . Consider attending this school as a last resort . - Former student

Coming from a different state, I was welcomed at RRG with open arms. The kids are very accepting and understanding, lots of diversity! Faculty is passionate and truly wants every child to succeed. Some of the best teachers i have ever had in my life, i have met at RRG. The classes are organized in a way that is beneficial for passing the Regents exams, and getting into a good college. RRG made the best that they could do with their current income, and has provided lower Manhattan with an outstanding school. I would 100% send my children to RRG, and would even consider working there. You will feel safe, accepted, and will thrive at RRG.
