So disappointed in their treatment of returning patients. Went for my new patient appointment here around 6 months ago and everything was good. They’re definitely a 15-min-per-patient type of place but most places seem to be that way. The big problem came today when scheduling another appointment. Their online system directs returning patients to call the office as they can’t book online - when I called, I was told the next available appointment would be 12 weeks from now, which I would have accepted, if not for the fact that that if you go online and book as a new patient, you can get an appointment today and every day after. I called back to ask about this and got connected to a different woman - she first said that if I found availability online, I could take it. I confirmed with her that returning patients were directed to call the office and then she asked “are you a new patient?”. I confirmed I was a returning patient and she soon switched up and confirmed my next available appointment would be in August. When I asked why, she said “they’re different appointment types”. She had no answer for why they are accepting new patients when they can’t schedule their existing patients for 3 months. Ultimately, an appointment is for the staff’s time - if they’re available, they’re available. The fact that they are turning down bookings from returning patients when they are available just in case a new patient schedules is ridiculous. We know that the reason is that they charge more for new patient appointments (and maybe have to enroll so many new patients to meet corporate quotas?). In reality, they probably aren’t “available” - they’re just willing to squeeze a new patient into their schedule, at the cost of quality of care, just for the money. If you’re someone who can schedule an appointment months in advance and know you won’t need to move it, it might work for you. But if anything comes up, you’re looking at another 3 month wait and even if you do make your appointment, you’ll find yourself waiting in the chair for 30 minutes at a time because the Dr. is in and out of treatments with multiple new patients all scheduled at the same time. Bad business practice, terrible customer service, complete lack of ethics.

Honestly, fantastic experience!!! Genuinely life-changing! I have had generally unpleasant and painful experiences at the dentist: whether not being heard when I'm advising that I'm in pain (the numbing products have a hard time being effective on me), being spoken to in a condescending way, and not even attempting to use my dental insurance when I know I'm in-network and the service is covered thus attempting to charge me thousands of dollars more than I know I should be charged; so, I just started avoiding them (not my greatest idea of course but anyways). Did some research and chose this office and I am so, SO glad I did! Dr. Zachary Carlson, the assistants, and ladies at the front desk (wish I got their names to personally name and thank them) were incredibly nice, so sweet, and understanding and empathetic of my situation and feelings towards coming to the dentist. Dr. Carlson didn't just go through the motions of the service (a cleaning) but stopped to listen to my concerns, feelings, and health goals, and really listened and spoke to me like a person, which I really appreciated. Of course, having exceptional bedside manner like his and the other employees isn't necessarily required to technically provide dental care, but the lack thereof has made me avoidant of putting my dental health first. I recently switched dentists and found myself at river rock dental in Southpark Meadows and was pleasantly surprised with my visit. Everyone was kind and chipper from the hygienists to the doctor himself, even the sweet ladies at the front desk were a delight. Since my first visit, a simple cleaning, I have gone back for a few fillings and have a few more scheduled. The staff is very good about setting up my appointments and calling to schedule later as well. Debbie is amazing! She did my cleaning and was so friendly and engaging. She talked to me the entire time and made me feel extremely comfortable, which going to the dentist is usually not a super comfortable thing. Debbie was truly my first point of contact at this office and I think she made my experience all the better. Not only did she make me feel comfortable by talking to me about my upcoming wedding and vacations but also she made me feel very comfortable with her transparency in the best options for tooth brushes and the proper way to floss, there are just some people you trust more than others and she is definitely one of those people. The doctor did my fillings in what felt like record time which I'm happy for because the sound of the drill is not something I enjoy. I will be back to do teeth whitening soon before my wedding in Paris! Never going anywhere else! Thank you river rock dental and the awesome staff and southpark Meadows!

Dr K and Deb helped me here at my first visit at this office. I had been to another location but was very dissatisfied. So I thought I would give this one a chance. Everything was smooth and on time. Deb was my hygienist and was very nice and professional. She has a good bedside manner and the xrays and cleaning were pain free. She explained everything she would do and why. The office staff were all very friendly over the phone and in person. Dr K is a very enthusiastic man. Very friendly and made me feel comfortable. He addressed exactly what needed to be addressed and answered all my questions. He gave me options for some things but was very honest as to what was a need and what was not. Also showed me an error that was made by the other office i came from which I appreciate the honesty and integrity in that. I will have work done with him next week so I hope that it equates to the good experience I had with this evaluation. My only critique is at the end when discussing possible plans that involve major work, I felt some pressure to make a decision that moment then as to take the time and really thinking it through as it will be a costly investment.

I have been a patient at River Rock Dental Southpark for several years now and today, even though I had to get two crowns, was the best experience by far! Dr. Carlson definitely has his patients’ best interests in mind! He explains everything in detail, he is a very skilled dentist, he ensured that I was comfortable throughout the procedure and his bedside manner is outstanding! AD, his assistant, is just as professional and skilled, ensured that I was comfortable, worked diligently and answered all my questions thoroughly. Erica at the front desk is so warm and welcoming!! She ensured that I understood all the charges, confirmed my insurance so as to avoid any issues, confirmed the timeline to my permanent crowns, booked my next appointment, answered my questions and wished me a wonderful day! Can’t ask for a better experience!!! This was an entirely different ethnicities experience than when I got two crowns on the opposite side of my mouth, in the most positive way!! On a side note, I had a wonderful cleaning appointment 3.5 weeks ago here as well!

Outside of being the absolute best dentists and oral hygienists that I've visited in the past 20 years, they are also the most professional and friendliest. The atmosphere is that of positivity and wellness and everybody seems to love their job and love their customers. The rooms are enjoyable to sit in because they have really awesome artwork and they do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and accommodated. The prices seem to be at or below what I'm used to ( I've lived all over this country) but the results are much better. Everybody greets you as you walk by and everybody offers you a salutation as you leave. They give you reminder cards, reminder texts and emails if you ask. They even call you if they haven't heard back from you. You're not going to miss an appointment with them and you're never going to regret going. I will never go to another dental office....and neither should you!

Attempted extraction...Did not have a good experience. I suffer from anxiety and a extreme fear of needles. I expressed that initially. They had me take two blue pills to help me relax, otherwise there would be no possible way anyone would be able to get a needle anywhere near me. This I also warned them in advance. I was rushed to the room. I sat there for almost two hours waiting while nothing is changing. No inebriation. So they offer gas which is supposed to help. But MY examinator isn't qualified for that. Which was one of the agreements leading up to the ENTIRE event. Heaven forbid they ask the one person who is qualified...By the time they come back they denied service to me. Hurried me out of the office after. Worst experience ever. This is why I believe dentist are just sadist with newer magazines.. time to find an ACTUAL DENTIST.

I love this dentist office, Dr. Carlson is absolutely amazing. He sees my son, my daughter and myself. He is always so informative and professional regarding treatment. I’ve had so many great experiences here. The front office staff is very friendly and accommodating. Daniella and Denise are always on there “A” game whether via phone or in person. I’ve been to multiple dental offices through out the years including 3 other River rocks and this is by far the best office I have ever been to. I had so many issues at other places with up charging and lack of professionalism and due to that I’ve had to find other offices to go to. River rock Southpark has exceeded my expectations. I’ve been at this office for 2 years and have no intentions of going elsewhere. If I could give a 10 star review they would definitely get one

Best dental experience I’ve ever had!! I was there for a new patient exam. The hygienist was amazing - funny, warm, welcoming, and really knowledgeable. She emphasized repeatedly how much they care about educating their clients and explained each step of what she was doing. She kept me laughing the whole time. Dr. K was the same - really friendly and wonderful. I had a chip in one of my front teeth, and he asked if I wanted it fixed. He smoothed out the chip in about a minute and didn’t charge me at all for it. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. I was really impressed and will absolutely be going there from now on for all my future dental services.

I’ve always been a little apprehensive going to the dentist but my experience through multiple appointments and procedures with Dr. Carlson has been phenomenal. His expertise and knowledge really helped me understand certain aspects of what Dental work I needed done. I was even more impressed with Dr. Carlson’s level of care for me during the procedure always making sure I was comfortable and never in pain. I felt like his #1 priority while under his care and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a patient focused, caring dentist. I went in for a broken tooth that was causing alot of pain. I have anxiety so I was nervous as I have never been here before. Omg the staff was extremely nice, I was greeted immediately upon entering the office, it did not take MAYBE 5 minutes to get to back. The tech very thoroughly explained everything she was doing. The Doctor I saw was Zachary Carlson- he was super nice. He made me feel like I had been long time patient. I had to be referred to oral surgeon & his staff helped me by calling my insurance& insisting I got in to a surgeon who took my insurance. I will definitely be coming back for normal routine care in the near future.

I was provided with exceptional care at River Rock Dental by the dentist and every staff member I interacted with. They offered same day and next day appointments for emergency issues. I will say, I am terrified of the dentist, but I felt so comfortable here, thanks to the dentist and the staff who explained everything each step of the way. The dentist went above and beyond to make sure I was not in pain, and that I understood the risk/benefit of the procedure. As a fellow medical professional, I really appreciate the care provided by this location and I will continue to come here for routine visits.

Had the BEST experience I’ve ever had at the dentist. I always get very anxious before my dentist appointments, but the whole staff and doctor C were all extremely nice and attentive. The visit did not feel rushed at all and they answered every single one of my questions & concerns. I went in for cleaning and got some cavities removed as well. I told the doctor that my past experiences at other dentists have been bad & painful & he constantly checked in with me to see how I was doing, and made sure I was comfortable & didn’t feel pain. I felt 0 pain!! Never going back to any other dentist again!

I just had my first appointment and couldn't be happier! The entire experience was first-class and you can tell the Doctors and Staff truly care about their patients. My Hygienist, Christina, was extremely easy to work with and did a fantastic job of explaining exactly what she was doing and how to prevent future issues. Dr. Carlson took the time to answer any questions that I had and I didn't feel like he was "rushed" or that I was just another number in a file. Overall, I highly recommend these folks and, even with my dental anxiety, I'm looking forward to my next visit!

I've moved around the country quite a bit before settling down in Southeast Austin, I randomly picked a dentist in the area and I really hit the jackpot because Dr. Klintmalm and the crew at River Rock Dental are the best. They've demonstrated to me, on multiple occasions, that they really take pride in their work and that they really care about their clients. Dr. Klintmalm also just helped me place a gold molar implant in a spot that has been missing one for over 20 years!

We moved to austin last year and I went to 7 dentist ( yes 7!!!!) in a year to find the BEST dentist who will give us the best treatment and not really try to rip our bank account. This was one of best experiences I have had at the dentist's office. The entire staff were welcoming and professional. Christina and Dr. K were both amazing. They both listened to my concerns and understood what was most important to me. They did not make me feel bad about my teeth and they explained everything. Went in 30 min early and they got me back there right away even though I was prepared to wait until my actual appt time. Do not recommend. Refused to let me get a regular cleaning because the doctor recommended for me to get a level 2 (gingivitis cleaning) which my gums were slightly inflamed but I am not having any pain or bleeding in my gums. I told the check out lady that I just wanted a regular cleaning and said that if I didn’t want to get what the doctor recommended, I could go else where. I did exactly that.

This place advised that I have my daughter get her wisdom teeth extracted and I went along with it. When we showed up for the extraction , they took so long on one tooth and informed me that they would not be able to pull out the other because it would be difficult. They still made up pay for the procedure and my daughter's gums ended up swelling. I would advise going to a better dental clinic.

They were very passionate and understanding of my anxiety with dentists. They spent the time to communicate everything with me and made me feel so much more confident about my treatment plan. The Doctor was very honest and made me feel very comfortable, he even gave me a few compliments. I will definitely be seeing them again. May even see about switching the kiddos to them
